T480 WWAN L850-GL No Service after hibernation

Q: T480 WWAN L850-GL No Service after hibernation

Hi all, I just began ordering T480s devices as the old T470's are gone, and running into an issue on one where every time the computer goes to sleep it simply states "No Connection" in the cellular section. Prior to going to sleep it works fine, but after waking this happens every time. A reboot resolves the issue, but this is incredibly aggrvating. I downloaded the drivers that were released for this WWAN from July 23rd and installed them, but even after doing so Windows is showing the installed driver as a generic device and NOT the drivers I installed(In device manager under wireless it does show as the Fibocom L850 though). I've tried adjusting power settings, removing the card and putting it back in, uninstalling and trying a fresh install of the drivers: nothing seems to work. Has anyone encountered this or know of a potential solution? Just about at my wits end here.

Preferred Solution: T480 WWAN L850-GL No Service after hibernation

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi! I have a new T480 with the factory installed WWAN option. It works on a fresh startup, but when the laptop goes into hibernate mode (not sleep) and then I wake it up, the WWAN stops workding. Windows Device Manager shows it as "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" Why does this factory installed option not work correctly in normal use? I would prefer not to have to disable hibernate or have to restart the laptop every time I want to have working WWAN. Thanks for any advice!

I currently have T580 with pre-installed WWAN module (Fibocom L850-GL) and trying to get to work it on Linux. It works perfectly fine on Windows. So far I discovered that Windows driver uses PCIe protocol to communicate with WWAN module, but Linux is supported apparently only through USB protocol, and if PCIe is enabled, the module ignores all USB commands according to its hardware specs document (page 26) - https://www.mev-elektronik.com/files/MEV%20Elektronik%20Service/produkt-downloads/rf-microwave-wirel... Fibocom recommendation is to disable PCIe in BIOS, that is not supported by stock ThinkPad. Thus in Linux the device is only displayed as "Wireless controller: [0d40]: Intel Corporation Device 7360 (rev 01)" through lspci , and nothing on lsusb . Any suggestions how to make it work on Linux? As an alternative I'm considering getting another WWAN module, but it's quite likely it will not work due to whitelists. The only other module that is whitelisted for sure is L830-EB, that does not have global coverage and thus doesn't work in the US or China, even so it was reported that it's Linux-compatible (USB-mode only). Maybe there is a patched BIOS that has whitelists removed? Wondering if there are Linux enthusiasts who are also looking for a way of using WWAN.

Until yesterday, the Fibocom L850-GL worked perfectly in my T480. After a restart, the device was gone and instead the error message "Detected unrecognized USB driver" appears permanently three times in the system log. The device manager recognizes a USB-Com device instead of the Fibocom. Detected unrecognized USB driver (\Driver\pci).Detected unrecognized USB driver (\Driver\ACPI).Detected unrecognized USB driver (\Driver\UDE). Even after a clean Windows 10 Pro (1803) installation, the error is repeated. The original installation of Windows 10 Pro (1803) immediately detected and installed the Fibocom.BIOS is up to date. For now I deactivated the device. Any hint?

Hello All, New T480 with the Fibocom L850-GL wwan card. Clean install of Windows 10 Pro x64, Redstone 4 (v. 1803). All Windows Updates applied. All Lenovo updates applied through the Vantage app via the Microsoft Store, and manually checked from the support page of the website (BIOS, WWAN, etc. updates). Following the manual, I pulled the external battery, disabled the internal battery, then inserted my T-Mobile USA sim card, then reassembled everything, then rebooted. Manually installed the latest L580-GL drivers from Lenovo. First off, the L850-GL is being shown as a USB device, as opposed to PCIE, with a hardware device instance path of USB\VID_8087&PID_0AC9&MI_00\7&4FA6012&0&0000, and a hardware location of 0000.0000.0000. in the properties dialogue screen in Device Manager. The Driver tab shows the provider is Microsoft with a date of 4/10/2018 and a version of 10.0.17134.1.... I suspect much of that to be a sign that something isn't right from the get-go... Second, every time I close the lid of the machine or leave it running long enough to enduce the proper level of sleep/hibernation, the card simply stops (with a hardware error 43 warning in Device Manager). At that point, my "T-Mobile LTE" network option no longer appears in the Windows 10 notification/network connections sidebar. My only recourse thus far has been to uninstall the L850 in device manager, "Sca... I bought X1 Carbon 6th and X280, both with Fibocom L850-GL. WWAN with Linux do not work. I searched and found the reason. Hello, I own a 7th Gen Thinkpad X1 Carbon.  Everything was great until yesterday, when my Fibocom L850-GL WWAN / LTE began to repeatedly disconnect and reconnect (causing the Windows 10 noises for connecting and disconnecting hardware to occur nonstop).  I have a US T-Mobile SIM card in the SIM tray. When you look on device manager, the Fibocom L850-GL will literally continually disappear and reappear, strangely with settings intact.  During the times it is connected I switched "Selective Suspend" to "disabled" and unchecked "Allow the computer to turn this device off to save power" in "Power Management."  These setting evidently remain intact when I check them.  Drivers are the latest offered by Lenovo.  I've disabled, uninstalled, reinstalled, applied latest drivers, and still have the same issues.  Can anyone advise? Thanks   Log Name:      Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-PnP/ConfigurationSource:        Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-PnPDate:          12/10/2019 12:25:47 AMEvent ID:      411Task Category: NoneLevel:         ErrorKeywords:      User:          SYSTEMComputer:      ThinkpadDescription:Device USB\VID_8087&PID_0AC9&MI_00\7&4fa60... I have a T480 with a Fibocom L850-GL WAN card. Frequently, but all the time, when waking up from sleep, it fails to appear in my Wireless options, and when I look at it in the device manager, under Device status Windows gives the message "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" I see others have had some problems with this card, but I haven't found this specific issue. I've installed the latest drivers as of today (2018-07-28) but I'm still having this problem. If I manually disable and re-enable the device it always comes back, but it's pretty annoying to have to do that.  Before I contact Lenovo for repair (the laptop is only a couple of weeks old) I wanted to check the forum for any ideas. Thanks!

Over the last few weeks, I've had at least a half dozen T480s that have severe spikes in latentcy and packet loss when using the Fibocom L850-GL, making them pretty much useless for our users who need them for remote desktop. The usual "working" baseline for these machines on our network is around 40-70ms pings. Show below are the occasional spikes past 3 seconds and timeouts along with the current firmware.    The work around I was using to fix this problem was uninstalling the drivers/firmware from Device Manager, and letting Windows reinstall them, but that doesn't seem to be working anymore.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, I've owned a T480 for a while now, and would like to add a WWAN card to it. I've considered USB modules but can't find any that will accomodate my providor so I am investigating the possibility of adding an internal one. I see that the T480 has the slot for one inside, and a place for the sim card behind the battery, but I don't see any antenna wires, and so I'm wondering if this is actually possible and if anyone knows how to do it, or has done it. There seems to be very little information online about adding mobile broadband cards in general. I had quite a time tracking down the Sierra Wireless AirPrime module that is supposed to fit my thinkpad module. Any information on the subject would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

That's not something I've done (or care to do if the antennas aren't in place) but these links may get you started.  Looks like the antennas are part of a WLAN WWAN combo.

I can't seem to establish a cell connection with my 6th gen Carbon X1 and new Fibocom L850-GL WWAN.  I'm using a Verizon SIM - all seems fine from the VZ side, and the machine is correctly recognizing the SIM, but I can't for the life of me get it to make a connection.  All I see is "No Service" from the Windows wifi manager, although the VZ "advanced options" confirm that there is an active account.  Anyone got any ideas on how to make this connect?  The Carbon X1 is fully updated and only recently imaged - latest drivers/firmware applied. Thanks in advance for any help!!!

Hi On my ThinkPad X1 Yoga 4th Gen I am experiencing a sporadic "no service" issue with the WWAN. When this happens then the Windows network dialog just reports "Cellular - No service" even if there is service (I use the same network on my phone and see whether there is service or not). Nothing but a reboot will change this state. Disabling the modem and reenabling (or flight mode) changes nothing. After a reboot it finds service again and works as expected. This happens once every few days. This is pretty annoying since it forces me to reboot my computer more ofter than I would like. Does anybody else experience this? Does anybody have a solution for this? Regards,Raffaele

I have a T480 which is approximately 5 months old. It refused to come on so I called the support line in my country, who diagnosed the issue after asking me some questions. I was told that the call would take 1 to 5 working days for resolution. It's been 9 working days and I've been told to wait indefinitely till the part arrives. After many requests to expedite things I was told that it would be approximately 3 weeks more.  The problem is that the machine is my work machine and I require the data on it which I cannot retrieve as removing the drive would void the warranty. Is there anyone who has expereinced a similar issue regarding the slow customer service and is there anything I can do to expedite things ? Also, is there anything I can do to resolve my data issue ?

I am trying to troubleshoot wwan autoconfig service issue but so far I have not been able to find any good solution related to it.

Wwansvc service is not start. Whenever I try to manually start it, it always give me Access denied error.

So far, I have reinstalled the software and drivers. They are up to date. I checked the permission in registry for wwansvc and it looks fine. All the dependencies of wwansvc is working correctly. I even checked their permission as well and looked fine.

this service is logged in as Local Service account which I am sure has all the right permissions. And ofcourse I am trying to start the service with administrator account. I also tried to create another admin account just to see if that would work but it

I have checked all the wan profiles which are not corrupted. I even checked the Program Data folder which looks fine as well.

Ran commands: Sfc /scannow , dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth as well - No luck with these

At this point, I am not sure what is the fix for this issue? Reinstalling will be the last option but I really want to find the fix

Hi everyone, I'm a student and planning to buy the Campus version of the Thinkpad T480s with the Nvidia chip. It doesn't come with a WWAN module, but I'd like to add one. Information on that topic seems sparse and I tried to look for M.2 slot WWAN modules at different online stores. I found a few ones, namely- Huawei ME906S, listed to be compatible with 2016 Thinkpads- Sierra EM7455, listed to be compatible with the *70 series Thinkpads- Fibocom L831-EA (Intel XMM 7160), listed to be compatible with *70 series Thinkpads According to this reddit, at least the Huawei and Sierra ones are incompatible unauthorized for a T480s which, if true, is simply inconvenient, annoying and disappointing. I've had this problem for a long time. When I put my computer in hibernation, sometimes when I wake it, it hangs at the user select screen, or it just shows a black screen. Sometimes I can reset the computer after it has hanged, and try again resuming from hibernation, and many times it will work after a couple of tries. Other times after resetting I won't get the prompt to try again with resuming (the other option is to delete hibernation data and reboot the system) but I will get the usual screen that says that Windows was not shut down correctly (with all the options for safe mode, etc). If I cannot resume and I get the screen with safe mode and all the other crap, I finally log in I get a notice that there was a critical error, in the details I see BlueScreen and other data, but I actually never get a blue screen. In the dump folder, there are no dmp files related to the hibernation hanging.

Anyway, when it happens, I see several Event 18 WHEA-Logger in the event viewer, about 6 of them every time.

What's weird though, is that I literally have NO problems with this computer other than this. The only times it hangs is when I resume it from hibernation. I can play games or run stress tests with or without overclock and the system is 100% stable. But there is some problem that prevents it from resuming from hibernation correctly, so every time I use it is basically a gamble because it has like 50% chance of working.

PLEASE, help me fix this problem. I tried EV... Read more

I have encountered this a few times and I thought of collating past experiences of other users on their successful attempt to restore the eco friendly hibernation feature. I personally favour hibernate than sleep as sleep slowly bleeds your battery away.

I just installed a 512GB M4 Crucial SSD into my laptop.

For my case, it happens when I tried to resize the C: partition to a smaller size using a third party software called minitool partition wizard. Windows native disk management somehow restricts the minimum size for C even though I have like 80GBs of free space. After successfully resizing it using partition wizard, i lost hibernation feature.

After searching the internet for solutions, many suggested powercfg cmd but this didnt work for me. I have also tried other recommendations and those didnt work too.

Since hibernation needs to store the OS states and apps into a file before shutting down, I suspected the pagefile.sys got corrupted due to the resizing and did a chkdsk with fix. It found some errors and fixed it. After a successful chkdsk fix, I got back hibernation feature! I also recommend to leave the vritual memory to system managed as I read from other posts that hibernate needs about 4GB of pagefile to hibernate.

Hope this helps others who have similar problems. On the hand if you have successfully restore your hibernation feature, please post your experience here. Thanks!

Hey, I recently bought a brand new Tune-Up Utilities 2012 software.I disabled hibernation file using tune up utilities. That time I don't use hibernation function. But now I realized how hibernation is a better option then shutdown. So I renabled hibernation file again using tune-up, as you can see in the screenshot. But now when I hibernate, the computer locks with a blank screen instead of hibernation. Also the file 'hiberfil.sys' is in C:/ folder. What to do now, how to renable hibernation?

A:Cannot renable hibernation. Hibernation not working.

Manually enable it in your power scheme I would suggest.

C/panel > Power Options > Plan (choice) > Change Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings > Sleep (options)

All drivers for your notebook model you can find on http://www.toshibamea.com/en/Download-Files

Your PSKG8V model is listed there. Maybe it sound stupid now but I don't know what the ?power driver? is. If your notebook was delivered with original preinstalled OS I recommend you to set BIOS to default settings and install original recovery image.
After doing this you can test functionality with ?factory settings?.

Post some feedback please.

Model Satellite L850-Y3110(PSKFWG-00F00C)
my laptop specs are i73630QM with 8gb DDR3 Ramand Raedon HD7670M 2Gb graphics in 64 bit Windows 10 pro. When i purchased it was installed with Win8.1 afterwards i manuallyt upgraded it to Win10.Everything was fine graphics is also ok.

From toshiba's website i found that my laptop is not up-gradable to Windows10. Anyway i have upgraded and there is no going back.
So my drivers are now auto updated with windows.

But to find drivers from my OEM's website i checked all toshiba's websites. But most of them does not recognize my model except this website.
In this site also i am not getting any drivers of Windows8.1.Only drivers of Windows 7 is available.

1)I would like to know where i can get these drivers.(Win 8.1)?

Please check with my model number before replying because i have spent many days for this.Again toshiba-india website provides only bios update drivers for my version.
2)So i would like to know whether other L850 model's drivers are compatible with my lap?

Now i will come to actual problem.
From intel's website i am aware that my laptop is having inbuilt graphics intel HD4000.
3)So where is it?
But nowhere in my laptop i can see this display adaptor.I looked into bios also to see whether it is disabled in bios.
And i found that there is no tab in bios regarding display/graphics.

I tried all latest drivers from intel for HD4000 and drivers from AMD for Redon7670M.
Everytime intel's setup driver installation fails.Add de... Read more

I have updated my machine too but there was no reason for any key activation because original Win8 version was already activated.

Can you please tell us which notebook model do you have and do you use original Win8 version that you got with your machine?
