I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Have dozens of folders under pictures , some folders have subfolders, but my picture gallery is pretty large. I would like to select all those folders to play a slideshow but it seems windows 8.1 will only allow one folder to be selected. IF this is true, would be a terrible waste of hard drive space to copy all these thousand upon thousands of pics to just one folder. Tell me please im doing something wrong.

A:Desktop background wallpaper multiple folders

Hello Bill,

If you like, you could add these folders to your Pictures library. Afterwards, select the Pictures library to play from for your slideshow to include all images in all the included folders.

Hope this helps,

Greetings everyone!

This is my very first post and I come with a question. I am looking into purchasing a refurb Dell 990 SFF for basic home usage (spreadsheets, word processing, internet...no gaming or graphic/audio intensive use). The onboard graphics and Displayport is an integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 with a Displayport 1.1a output. I currently have a monitor with Displayport in but no Displayport out so I can daisy-chain. What is the best strategy for connecting second monitor? Is the native DP 1.1a out splittable for extended desktop? Do I need to buy a DP splitter external peripheral? I should note the additional output options include an old VGA out; all USBs are 2.o. Thanks in advance.

Currently, I run Windows 7 Pro on dual 24" monitors, and life is good.

In Win 8, if I open the desktop tile, I presume that the default action is to open the full-screen desktop app on just 1 of the 2 monitors. I'm guessing that the "Start" screen remains on the 2nd monitor.

Can I have the desktop app open, full screen, across both monitors? Can I have icons for my so-called legacy programs littered across both monitors like I have them on the Win 7 desktop? Just to clarify, I am NOT asking about having the background wallpaper extend across both monitors. I want the actual desktop application to extend across both monitors.

A:Desktop Tile Across Multiple Monitors

Yes, you can have the Desktop on both screens with the Taskbar on both where you can either pin certain things on each monitor or just the the Taskbar for separating windows on each screen. You can also have the Start Screen on one and Desktop on the other.

M93P SFF 10A90014US desktop PC. Would like to attach three monitors and display three discrete screens. According to the PSREF it is possible to do this with up to five displays. I have not been able to get this to work this way. I have spoken to technical support twice regarding this issue to no resolve. One support rep said I need an adaptor. Why? There are a total of 5 ports available for video, tried anyway, does not work. The other support rep said change a setting in the BIOS, when I tried that the setting does not exist.  Machine has Nvidea GT620 with one display port and one vga port. System board has 2 display ports and 1 vga port. PSREF says the machine can support up to 5 displays if using the installed video card along with the system board Intel video ports. Has anyone been successful with this setup? Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks...

In common with many others I was horrified to find that Windows 7 pro, which advertised support for RDP, did not support multiple monitors. I needed Ultimate for that.

What's the story in Windows 10? Can I use RDP with multiple monitors in Windows 10 pro? And can I connect to a Windows 7 pro laptop using a dual monitor Windows 10 Pro desktop?

Thanks

At present I am running three monitors without a problem. . .having said that there is one fault and that is not being able to use a different picture/wallpaper on each monitor. To get around this problem I use Display Fusion ( I know there are some folks that just can't get over the fact that a third party program is needed to display separate wallpapers on each monitor. As to Remote desktop goes don't use it so I cannot comment on it's us. . .

Hi everybody,

I have a remote connection that I need to configure 2 monitors. Each of them must be showing a different window full time (a monitoring activity).
In every forum that I visit, I have same answer: in Display tab of Remote Desktop Connection, tick "Use all my monitors for remote session".

But when I'm connected (remotelly) to my host computer, I try to Maximize and/or increase my remote screen and nothing happens, just 1 remote screen in 1 monitor.
In the Screen Resolution Configuration, it shows just 1 remote desktop (RDPDD Channel) monitor and I can't make any change about it.
I also tried to change some Local Group Policies as showed in Tech Community Microsoft Blog "Using Multiple Monitors in Remote Desktop Session", in both sides, host computer
and client computer.

And nothing happened, it seems that all different settings in Remote Desktop Connection on client computer doesn't take effect.
Is that something that I'm missing?

I have a T61 Lenovo laptop with Mobile Internet 965 Express Chipset, Vista SP2. I have a second monitor, Envison, installed which I use to extend my desktop--laptop display on right, Envision monitor on left. Everything works just fine, however, whenever I shut down my system (sleep or hibernate or shut-down) and then power up again, the Envison monitor only displays my wallpaper and I need to re-establish it as my "extended desktop". This configuration worked fine under XP (with all the same hardware), but now it reverts back whenever I shut-down. Can this be fixed? Thanks.

Hello everyone! Not sure if this is the right forum, I had to decide between this and Customisation, but this seemed more applicable.

Anyway, whenever I restart my computer, all my desktop icons move around to really weird locations. I don't have that many icons, but I'm a clean freak, so when they move out of place it sincerely pisses me off

Here are the specs:
Asus G74SX built-in monitor: 1920x1080
External monitor: Acer X203H, 1600x900
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M 3GB VRAM

The icons all stay on my main monitor (the one on my laptop) but they are often jumbled far out of place, such as this example: http://i.imgur.com/Kqtpp.jpg

And here's how they're actually supposed to be oriented: http://i.imgur.com/1TMe7.jpg

As you can see, there's quite a difference XD

Also, if it helps any, the external moderator is connected via VGA and it's positioned to the left of my laptop.

Thanks!

A:[Multiple monitors] Desktop icons move around each restart!

Doing a simple google search, I keep running into your same situation. A laptop with an external monitor being used that has two different native resolutions and this seems to be causing the problem. As for a fix for it...every thing I read so far comes up nill. This is not to say that there's not a fix for it, I haven't ran across it yet.

If also found that there are some nifty little third part apps that will do the trick as well. Scroll through this thread and check out the links.

I have a problem with Remote Desktop when using v6.0 to connect to a dual-monitor machine using the "span" option. Some text gets drawn in a rather bizarre fashion - it appears that the letters of the text are drawn in a wider font, but each letter is in the same position it would be with the original font. This results in each letter overlapping the next, making text extremely difficult to read.

I can recreate this in both Microsoft Excel and Artisan Studio. In Excel it is easy to recreate:
From a dual-monitor machine, connect via mstsc (remote desktop) version 6 or higher.
Open Excel
Put some text in a cell
Use the Excel "Camera" tool to take an image of the cell and place it anywhere in the spreadsheet
Voila - the camera version of the text looks messy, while the original looks normal. Connecting to the same session without using the "span" option shows the text correctly both with and without the camera.

I appreciate that not many people will have the necessary hardware to recreate this, but was hoping someone out there might recognise the problem! I suspect that the Excel camera tool uses a different method of rendering the text, and that it is this that is getting confused.

Any help appreciated!

I'm in IT security. I have 3 monitors -- it could be 6.

I just want to know if Windows 7 Enterprise has a setting that will allow the docked laptop with 3 monitors to keep the desktop window settings and icons and everything about the layout when in 'multiple monitor mode', and then have a different desktop settings
and layout for the undocked laptop using it's own screen.

Docked with multiple monitors? Detect it and revert to saved layout/settings for this desktop.Undocked with just the simple laptop screen? Detect it and revert to saved layout/settings for this desktop.

Does that make sense?
P.S. Does Windows 10 do this?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer...

I have 2 Samsung SyncMaster 2243 monitors running off of a ATI Radeon 4670 graphics card.

I have downloaded some wallpapers that are wide enough to cover both monitors (large panoramas atc). But it just displays whatever will fit on my main monitor and duplicates it on the secondary monitor (This is only the case with my wallpapers, not the rest of the desktop: shortcuts, start menu etc.). I'm sure this is just a user error on my part. What am I missing?

edit: If I choose the "tile" option. It will ALMOST do what I want. The picture will extend across both monitors, but if it is not quite long enough/tall enough it will start the tiling.

Thanks.

Check the size of the picture you are using it should be the size of your screens together like 1024x768 = 2048x768

Hi Elmotrix, welcome to tenforums.com!

There may be various ways to accomplish this.

You could scour the web for some of the latest 'Spotlight' images, then put them in a 'Slideshow' folder.

You may also be able to fetch them on your own machine.
You need to show 'Hidden files, folders and drives', then navigate to C:\Users\{your name}\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Asset s
then copy all the items to another folder and begin renaming them: 1.jpg, 2.jpg, etc.

Here are some of the latest:

Hi JoeSchmoe! Just to clarify, could you provide to us the model of the computer you are trying to use on the monitors? Using an adapter doesn't guarantee that it will be detected so it will be best to use an adapter from Lenovo like this: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/accessories/acc100239. I have attached a second monitor to my laptop which runs Windows 7, however, I need to set different resolutions for different monitors, because the display does not fit to fill the screen on both monitors.

It is also noted that the display is replicated, and I would like to have the effect of having different desktops e.g. being able to use different applications such as debugging code on one monitor on an IDE such as Visual Studio, and, viewing the browser on the other monitor.

Currently it does not seem possible since the behavior seems to be that the same resolution is replicated on both monitors.

Are more than two monitors supported?

A:Working with multiple monitors does not allow multiple desktops

Set it to extended mode instead of duplicate, then you can use both independently.

Hi there,

So a while back when i was running XP on this rig, i had a active desktop wallpaper setup that would display animated local radar images. Basically the same radar you would see if you put in your zipcode in the weather.com or accuweather.com radar section.

So now with Win 7, i cant get it to work for the life of me....and no, sorry, the wimpy sidebar gadgets just dont cut it.

Basically what it was, and am looking to accomplish, is have a live animated radar as my wallpaper / background.
Preferably not the whole screen, just alike a 12X8 square or something relative.

Picture attached of a mock setup of what im talking about.

Im pretty sure i originally was using this as my source for the animated wallpaper:

The computer crashed hard. I was running an application call Stylizer, a visual css editor. One of the tasks it allows you to do is switch between several browsers to see how a web page may render differently. When I clicked on a form select element while in IE 7.0, it crashed. This is a repeatable bug that I have encountered before(don't click forms select again ya dummy). Anyways, all the applications that were running died and the computer froze requiring a hard reboot. When the computer returned, the desktop wallpaper image was zoomed. Obviously something became corrupted with the crash. I can't find a solution how to unzoom the wallpaper image. I tried a number of display and accessibility options without any luck(screen resolution, DPI, large icons, centered, stretched, etc.). I did notice if I changed from my usual "hide desktop icons", to "show desktop icons", the wallpaper image is then displayed correctly. I can also kill the explorer.exe process and the wallpaper will show correctly. If I run File>New Task(Run...)>explorer.exe again, it reverts back to the zoomed wallpaper. I tried a restore point from the day before. Wiped display drivers and installed the latest. Switched the dvi cable to a different output on the card. I uninstalled Stylizer, all it's files and registy entries. I've run sfc /scannow. I also tried rolling back to SP2 and back again to SP3 to re-install explorer.exe. Still zoomed. I've run out of ... The laptop of course does not have monitor adjustment buttons like an external monitor and seems to only be contollable via the built-in Windows monitor colour calibration - but this does not allow me to get a match between the two monitors (insufficient controls). Is it possible to apply separate colour profiles to the two monitors - currently in extended desktop, if I change the profile on one monitor (in Windows) the profile seems to affect the other. A LUT checker tells me if I change the LUT on the laptop monitor, the same LUT is being applied to the external monitor. Is there for example, a way to control onme with the Intel graphics card and the other with the GeForce 740m card and load LUTs separately?

I have a Ti 4600 8x and everything was running smoothly...

The only video game I play is Unreal Tournament 2004, and one day it started acting funny. For maybe 30 or so seconds it runs smoothly and then things just freeze for 2 or 3 seconds... i can run the same but i can't see my bullets, and if i a person was moving to the right, they keep moving to the right. Then it goes back to normal for 30 or so seconds and then glitches up for 2 or 3 again... repeat. Same all on servers.

So I rebooted my computer after reinstalling my video driver and now what was originally display 1 is now display 2 and vice versa. Normally I'm a pretty flexible guy and could care less and did care less about that till i tried to move to my 2nd monitor (now display 1 on my right side)... so to go to the right monitor i have to move my mouse left and to get back to my left monitor i have to go right. I ran into the wall in the middle a couple of times out of habbit, snapped, and now I'm posting a thread.

Stretch is the only preloaded way to do all images easily but often makes a mess of it,

Ok, the story is have 2 monitor's and a tv hooked up to my computer. When I'm not playing a dvd or something on the tv I would like to have some sort of 3d fish animation going on it, so it looks like a fish tank. I can easily get one of these as a scr, but that doesn't help since I want to have the animation going while I do my thing with the other 2 screens.

Far as I can tell the easist way to do this would be to use some scr player which can just run a screen saver on the tv, but be unaffected by mouse movement. It would be important that the prog have windowed mode since if it just fullscreans it it will likely mess up my other displays.

The other solution I thought of was to make that screens desktop an animated desktop with my disired fishy display. This however has proven to be difficult since all the animated desktop prgos i have found only support 1 display.

If anyone can tell me of some good progs to us or any other thoughts on how I can fix this I would be quite thankful. Btw I'm running winxp pro, the 3 displays are coming from 2 video cards. my primary monitor, and the tv are coming from my grforce fx 5600 agp card, and the second monitor is coming from a pci geforce mx 4400 card. It just cannot handle three screens. Microsoft says: "This issue occurs because some laptop graphic adapters only support two displays at one time. When you attempt to configure the display settings to use a third monitor on a laptop that supports only two monitors, Windows 7 and Windows 8 will check the hardware to confirm compatibility, then display the error message." But the hardware does support three monitors... VGA + DisplayPort to VGA adapter (to VGA of course)When i connect the screens like this, alle screens are working. The only problem is that when I set the resolution of the screen attached to the DisplayPort (to VGA adapter) to 1920 x 1080, the screen starts to flicker. When I put  the resolution to 1600 x 900 the screen works just fine. I don't think you'll be able to use both your onboard video and your AGP video card at the same time. That setup can be done with a PCI(-E) video card, and only with some motherboards, but I think the AGP card automatically disables the onboard video when you plug it in.

I'll google a bit and I'll tell you if I'm wrong.

I was talking with someone the other day and they mentioned the possibility of using mulitple monitors on one computer. This would be an excellent solution for the kind of work I do. My question is around how to set that up. I'd like to do this with my laptop if possible.

Thanks,

Campsb

Welcome to TSG,

I've edited your title to give it a useful title.

You should look in to an AMD Radeon Eyefinity card or a Matrox card with 5 or more outputs.

Here's some examples:
http://www.club-3d.com/index.php/products/reader.en/product/radeon-hd-7870-eyefinity-6.html?page=6
http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/5870_Eyefinity_66S2GD5/
http://www.sapphirepgs.com/featurepage.asp?IDno=18&lang=eng
http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/graphics_cards/m_series/m9188pciex16/?productTabs=1

You can get DisplayPort to any type of connector to connect each of the 5 monitors.
You can also use multiple cards, you could use an existing card and add a second card to get more monitors.

I would like to set up dual monitors for my desktop. Is it possible to use the video card on the motherboard (vga) for one monitor and my dedicated card (hdmi) for then second?

In most cases when a graphic card is installed, the integrated graphic device is automatically disabled.

A detailed description of that graphic card and what type connection ports it has would be helpful.

Having trouble keeping a secondary monitor 'alive' after it comes on, then dies when Windows starts up.
Have done a trouble shoot but cannot access a number of the categories, supposedly in Control Panel, which come up in the troubleshooter. ie: the double screen window doesn't show under 'Display' options.
The machine I'm having this problem with is using Windows XP Home edition.
This machine I'm using right now has Windows XP Professional edition and this dialog window shows under 'Display'.
[Whether it will actually support a second monitor or not, I'm not sure! Haven't tried this one yet.]

Further info - the problem m/c does have a dual video card, and the secondary monitor works initially, but as soon as the Welcome screen comes on, it dies. Maddening!

Any one have any ideas?
