Windows Live Mail Contact List (.cvs) will not save

Q: Windows Live Mail Contact List (.cvs) will not save

Someone installed Windows Live Mail on a new (used) computer, then imported my contact file (.cvs format) from my old computer where I was using Vista 64bit. This was done from within windows live mail option.

The import works but every time I reboot the contacts disappear from Windows Live Mail and I have to import again which takes hours.

I tried importing via hotmail page but it keeps timing out.

Preferred Solution: Windows Live Mail Contact List (.cvs) will not save

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Windows Live Mail Contact List (.cvs) will not save

This is a common problem,

You will have to "add" those contacts manually afetr performing an import.

To do this,

Click on Tools > Options > then click on Privacy,

In the Contact Lists Menu click View
Right click on each contact and click add.

Since it seems people have been having problems with this, what I did was opened WML and entered each email address individually. But when i went to look for contact list on C: drive, still cant find the contact list for the ones I entered. I had tried all the other options I read about, but no luck. So what do I have to do?
Thank you.

A:Where can I locate Windows live mail contact list?

Hello Tazny, and welcome to Seven Forums.

WLM does not store it's contacts in your C:\Users\(user-name)\Contacts folder like Windows Mail in Vista did. Instead, you should be able to open and view them by clicking on Contacts as in the screenshot below.

Anyone know what program can merge word/excell lists of email address to a window mail contact list?

I recently re-formated my local hard drives and reinstalled win xp. I am currently installing all the software I need... I installed windows live messenger and apparently successfully. Apparently! I don't have any contacts on my list! I tried signing in with another account and the contact lists are also gone. I signed in on windows messenger (the one that comes withe windows...) and the contacts appear.

I've researched for help and the procedure to solve this consists of erasing folder content. But I do not have those folders! No "Contacts" folder nor a "My messenger email address" folder on "Windows Live Contacts" folder. I tried adding those folders to their respective places but it didn't solve anything.

I tried also to add contacts to messenger but they don't show up on the contacts list.

Anyway, for some reason my contact list won't show everyone who's online, for example, one person, it's as he's blocking me, but he's not. I've checked with him multiple times. He can send me messages but my messages won't send back and it won't tell me if it doesn't send.

Thing is, I'm worried this is happening with other contacts, because they haven't been online in months either.. Is there any program or something I can do to revive my contact list?

About 2 weeks ago my entire contact list from Windows Live Messenger disappeared. After trying a lot of different things, I found an easy solution. Somehow all my contacts had been moved to my block list, so I moved them to the allow list and the problem was fixed.

Yesterday, I signed into Windows Live Messenger, and suddenly my contact list disappeared. All my contacts were already on my allow list, so I don't know how to fix this problem. Now I'm constantly getting emails to my hotmail address- from [email protected] with the subject line- Delivery Status Notification (Failure).

It looks to me as though it's some sort of virus/spyware and AdAware, Spybot Search and Destroy and AVG Anti-Spyware have picked up a little bit of spyware, but nothing has fixed my Windows Live Messenger contact list disappeared problem.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I would really appreciate a fix without needing to reinstall messenger and adding all my contacts from scratch.

Thanks in advance everyone!!

I want to make a backup disk of my Windows Mail contact list, in case I ever need to re-install Win Mail and don't have to manually type in all the names. Where is the Windows Mail folder located and what is the contact file link? Thank you for your help.

A:Back up Windows Mail Contact list to disk

Hi armyers and welcome to the forum!

It's actually quite simple. In windows mail, just go to your contacts, highlight all the items there (or Ctrl+A), then right-click to select copy (or Ctrl+C) and paste it to a folder you created to store your backup

Now if you want to restore them back to windows mail, just reverse the process and there you have it, a simple solution to back up your contacts.

Alternative Solution: You can use Windows Easy transfer to backup all your mail, contacts, etc. This can be accessed by going to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Windows Easy Transfer. You can configure what you want to include in the back up and its very user friendly.

Hello! I hope this is the right forum for this question.

I work in a small office and all of the computers are using Vista. We use Windows Mail quite heavily in the business.

We now got 2 more computers, but these computers use XP and not Vista. The version of Windows Mail is different. Our supervisor does not want to upgrade the computers to Vista for financial and other reasons.

We have a massive contact list of various business associates, partners, and whatnot. In order to do business we will need this contact list accessible to every computer.

Currently the contact list is duplicated on each computer locally (this is not ideal in my mind -- surely there is a way to consolidate all of them to a central server so they're shared, but that's another topic).

My problem is that while it's very easy to copy all of the contacts from one Vista computer to another Vista computer... I can't for the life of me figure out how to copy the contacts from the Vista computer to the XP computers. The only way I could figure was to import them 1 at a time... but that would take EXTREMELY long (we're talking hundreds of contacts here) and not all of the information is retained when I do that. Notes, descriptions, and even names are often lost.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

I've been searching on the web for a solution. The only post on point I could find was something involving Windows Live, which we're not using.

Thanks a bunch!

My sister told me that her Windows Mail is really strange. I can't help her because I don't use Windows Mail so I am asking on her behalf.

a) When she opens her Contact list , the names are in alphabetical order (which is expected) .However when she composes an email and clicks on the "To" button , the name list displayed is not in alphabetical order by name but strangely ordered by email addresses. Is there a way to rearrange to resort by names?

b) When she types a name in the Address area ie in the box next to "To" , another page opens for search. Is this normal ? With Outlook ( which she used to use until she changed to a new computer running Vista) when you type the name a list of potential email addresses appear. IS there a way to fix this?

A:Windows Mail Contact list and email address order

I'm piggybacking on here because I have a similar problem. I imported my address book from Outlook Express and now when I begin to type in the name on "To" line it doesn't find the contact. For example if my contact is Joe Smith, I use to be able to type in Jo (and the auto fill would kick in) Now I need to remember Joe Smith's email which might not be anything like his name ([email protected]) How do I organize my address book like it was on O.E.? I want them alphebetically by first name, not by their email address.

Hey everyone. I have been on a mission to solve this problem. I've been seeking out and posting on several MS/tech/computer support forums looking for an answer. I've also spent quite a bit of time googling for a solution on my own. So far I have come up empty handed.

My situtaiton and problem is as follows:

I'm working in a small office where we have some computers running Windows Vista and using Windows Mail (version 6.0.6000.16388). We have hundreds of contacts and a couple of contact groups on these computer.

A few months ago we got two new computers which are using Windows XP and Windows Live mail (version 2009, build 14.0.8089.0726). Other computers in the office still have Vista and the other version of Windows Mail.

I have been able to export our hundreds of contacts and import them into Windows Live Mail so the new computers have all of the contacts... however I was unable to find a way to import the groups.

These groups are all very large and consist mostly/entirely out of contacts which don't have individual contact entries.

I have been googling to find a solution to this problem. The closest page I could find was this one:

I was very discouraged when I saw the big red warning near the top of the page:

We recently moved from Windows XP Outlook Express to Windows 7 32 bit Windows Live Mail.
We imported the address book, but were unable to retain the folder nformation.
We decided to put the contacts into categories manually.
In this process, we have a problem: whenever we drag a contact into a category, the contact list goes back to the top of the list. We have then to hunt for the last address we moved. The address book we are handling has 600 contacts, and locating the last contact categorised is getting to be a problem.
Is there a way of keeping the contact list from going back to the top of the sort order?

I am using Vista SP2 with Windows Live Mail 2009. Attached is a screenshot of the version I am using.

I recently downloaded its update but I didn't like it as it is heavier on resources while the 2009 version is rather light and opens faster.

How do I save this 2009 version for future use or on another computer? Will it work on Windows 7 if I choose to upgrade the OS?

A:How to save Windows Live Mail 2009

If it is installed and you didn't save the installation files when you first installed it, there's no way to create an installation file from your system.

I'm not sure, but the version is 14 something and 2011 is 15 something, so this may be what you want. Be warned that I've heard uninstalling 2011 is a bear and sometimes prevents installing 2009 even when uninstalled. I'd use Revo on 2011 or Windows Live Essentials - Uninstall to be more sure. Again, I don't know for sure if this is it, but it's all I could find other than torrent sites after 30 minutes of searching. Download Free Windows Live Essentials, Windows Live Essentials 14.0.8064.0206 Download. I also understand you can't mix and match programs from the different versions, so if you switch to 2009, you need to switch all the applications you're using and not just Windows Live Mail (though you can choose to install and use only WLM 2009).

I hope this helps and is what you're looking for. Save this download and you should be able to use it to install on another computer. I'm almost positive it works with Windows 7. You will need to separately save your data and settings from your current version if you want to transfer them to the new/old version.

Good luck!

Windows live mail could not be started. The application was unable to open the Windows live message store. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. (0x8007002)

So far, to attempt to remedy it:
Run a disk check
Restarted three times
Run Repair on the Live stuff
Tried system restore to four days ago
I even removed my anti-virus (temporary of course)
None of the above has any affect.

How can I save my emails without being able to open the mail program itself? As one of the few idiots, I did not back up my emails.
Where are the located? I figure if I can find them, pull them into another folder and the reload the Live stuff, I'll be ok. *hopefully*

A:Windows Live Mail will not open, so how to save my email database?

Well, I got it. I pulled the email files, backed them up, and imported them with the import wizard. Whew! I thought I had lost everything for good! I'm going to back everything up every day from now on. I thought I had cleaned out my inbox enough...I'll put money that may have been the source of the problem...to darn many emails.

HELP!!! Hi everyone, Does anyone know how to remove this virus? It is called ecvvbt and attaches an advert to the bottom of my emails in MSN hotmail, inviting people to visit the website www.ecvvbt.com or email [email protected] I have searched on the internet and found that other people have this virus in Yahoo, in Spain and France. If it was just doing this it would be annoying but no real hassle, but it also send this message to all the users in my contact list and deletes them from my list. Thanks for reading this and any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The computer is running Windows XP, I am cannot access the computer at the moment but suspect the version of MSN messenger and hotmail is not particularly relevant? Many thanksMod Edit: Topic moved to more appropriate forum~ TMacK

Does anyone know how to change the font of the message list in Windows Live Mail 2011? When I set the message list view to one-line view the subject of unread messages in the message list is bold Calibri and I can't stand it. When I read the email the font changes and is fine. When I change to two-line view the font is fine.

On my other laptop with Windows Live Mail 2011 the font is not Calibri and it's fine. The only difference between the 2 laptops is that I installed IE9 on this one before I installed Windows Live Essentials 2011. I have since uninstalled IE9 because I didn't like it. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with the difference of the one-line message view font.

I've searched high and low for a way to change the message view font in one-line view from Calibri.

Can anyone help me?

Computer: Dell Inspiron 6000 with 1.5 GHz Pentium M processor and 2 GB of RAM.

Windows version: XP/Pro SP 3 (V. 5.1 Build 2600.xpsp.080413-21111 : SP 3)

Word 2002

I exported my contacts list from Gmail, using "Outlook's CSV format (for importing into Outlook or other applications)." The file name is contacts.csv, and has 156 names in it--only a few have physical addresses.

This is the sequence I use for the mail merge:

Open Word

Start with New Blank Document

Tools/Letters and Mailings/Mail Merge Wizard

The Task Pane opens and the Mail Merge toolbar is displayed. From the Task Pane:

Step 1: Document type = Labels

Step 2: Change document layout/Label options/8462 Address

Step 3: Use an existing list/Browse to contacts.csv. Double click on contacts.csv. Default = Select all. Click OK.

Step 4: Using Insert Merge Fields tool on Mail Merge toolbar, insert Name and Business Address/Update all labels.

Step 5: Instead of 156 labels, I get 156 pages, with many duplicate labels for each name. If your question is, why am I trying to create address labels for contacts without physical addresses, I can only say that I was trying to learn how to do a mail merge with the exported Gmail contacts list. But, if I wanted labels with only names (say name tags or file folder labels), the steps I used will also create many excess labels (I tried using just the Name field in step 4--same result).

If, at step 3, I click on the Business Address field and select nonblanks. ... Read more

A:Word Mail Merge with exported Gmail contact list

Here is an update. I created a new recipients list while using the Word Mail Merge feature, with 3 entries. If use that list for letters, I get 3 letters. If I use that list for labels, I get 3 pages of labels, with duplicates.

I created a new recipients list using Excel with 25 entries (this list is completely independent of the list of Gmail contacts) and saved it as a csv file. If I use that list for labels, whether using the Word label feature or the Word Mail Merge feature, I get 25 pages of labels, with many duplicates.

My conclusion is that there is a problem with the Word (at least Word 2002) label and/or mail merge to labels features, and that the problem is not operator error.

Can anybody help?
