Q: WLM Startup Problem, Logo disappears

could you please help me out, i have WLM on my computer and for the last 2 weeks, i havent been able to open it, so now i am having to resort to windows messenger -_-.

What happens is, i open the program up, but there is a delay, then in the corner, the icon with the green and blue people pops up. but when i hover over the icon, it disappears, therefore not being able to log in. And when i go into processes, it is visible when i open the program, but when i hover over the icon, the process disappears. basically, i love going on live messenger, but i cant do anything because the icon disappears

i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling numerous times, but to no prevail.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm an in-home computer repair guy (part-time, on the side) with A+.

I'm working on a Dell desktop, Vostro 200, for a small store.
Its their entire sales system, not including the interact machine.

When you start up, you get the normal system beep, see the Dell logo, then the fans all cut to low speed, and the screen goes blank and the fans continue at low speed. I first thought it was the mobo or the power supply, as I blew out a ton of dirt, dust & hairballs. Turns out the hard drive is absolutely the issue... I get the same reaction when I put the HD into a different machine (as the "C" drive), & I can operate the Dell if I put a different HD into it, but then I dont have all the drivers & legitimate CD's I'll need for the store.
I can access the Dell's HD if I put it into another system as a secondary drive.
AVG then detects a few trojans & Win32/Cryptor as well, but wont delete anything (access denied) and Malwarebytes detects nothing at all on the drive.
I dont think its the MBR on the drive, since I can access all the files if its a secondary drive, but I could be wrong.
I'm leary of wiping the HD for a re-install, since I don't have the drivers for it handy, (I know I can D/L them) nor the legitimate CD's for the stores programs.

Is there any suggestions I didn't think of?
Should I just give it back to them without proceeding?

Try installing it in SAFE MODE so that the device appears correct ( with no ! )

Then reboot computer in normal mode to see if that works out.

Hello there!  I have a Radeon 6850 video card and I use the HDMI Audio as my sound output.  Sometimes however, it disappears on startup and I have to use the executable and reinstall it.  I don't know what causes this.  Anyone out here have an idea? Thanks!

A:Audio device disappears on startup.

The very first thing you need to do is to update your ATI driver. First go to control panel and uninstall ATI drivers completely. You can find the latest ATI driver from http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
Report back if the problem still continues after updating drivers.

This is a 2013 Toshiba Lx835-D325 all-in-one with a 3rd generation Intel i7 CPU. Originally had a 2 TB HDD and takes a 180 watt AC adapter.

The screen shows a "no media found" message for 5 seconds when first engaged by attaching the AC adapter plug, then fades back to a black screen. The power button starts the machine but no display image is revealed unless detaching and then re-attaching the power plug. The power button lights and starts the computer but fails to engage a display image. Could it be the power switch? The small power switch board is shown in the last picture.

Problem: The Wild Tangent Error Pop-up was solved on my desktop computer by using:

START ---- RUN---type in msconfig-----then going to START-UP and unchecking the Wild Tangent File...... But.....

Our Laptop has the same problem, which is an XP also.....we tried the above solution. The lap top has SPY Bot, and Ad Ware removal like my desktop computer, but now we have a new problem before we solve the Wild Tangent problem.

And that is.......When we go to click the Start-up Tab in the System Configuration Ultilty which brings us to all the files on Start-up, we do see all the files but, the page disappears after about 5 seconds, it acts like it is timing out.

This quick disappearing act does not give us a chance to find the file and unclick the Wild Tangent file to solve our problem.

How do we fix the Start-up so it will last more than 5 seconds?

Thanks for all your help!

A:A windows pops up at startup on the taskbar then disappears

Greetings, and welcome to TSF.

Your log apprears clean, so we'll need to look a little deeper.

Let's use a program to scan for any trojans that may exist. Download TDS-3 http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=download. Learn how to use it at http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=easytouse. Make sure to update it after you installed it. You can get the manual updates at http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=update. When you launch the program, it will scan your memory for running processes. This will take less than 30 seconds. Next go to 'System Testing' on the menu and choose 'Full System Scan'. After that's finished, post the log file by selecting everything on the top pane (select from bottom to top). If any alarms are found, it will be listed in the bottom window. Please copy and paste that here also if it applies. If you have problems copying the text, look (or search) for a file named scandump.txt and see if that has the alarms - post that here.

If you have a fast internet connection (broadband), run an online virus scan at TrendMicro http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/ente...all_launch.php. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the online scan. If any viruses/trojans are detected, try to delete or clean them in that site. You may use Panda ActiveScan also at http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan. Otherwise, make sure your antivirus program has the latest definitions and run a full system scan.

I upgraded to Windows 10 several months ago and the Quick Access menu was working normally. A few months back however, all of the pinned items disappeared and I cannot pin anything to the quick access menu either. I've gone through all the posts and different solutions I can find and all I have been able to do is temporarily fix the problem by deleting the "5f7b5f1e01b83767.automaticDestinations-ms" file in the C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations folder.

Deleting this file does bring back the quick access folders that I had pinned before this problem started to happen, but every time I restart my computer, the quick access menu is again empty and nothing can be pinned to it.

I have googled and tried all of the different solutions that I can find so any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Just recently i scanned my computer with Spybot Search and Destroy, and found a trojan "DC3_FEXEC", i removed and rebooted my computer, i opened the task manager and found a process named 'Test.exe' and he disappeared very quickly. I ran ADware cleaner, Combofix (probably a mistake), Malwarebytes, HitmanPro, and it didn't found anything. But everytime i reboot and open the task manager it's there, but it disappears so fast that i can't click on it.
This viruses are in my new Hard Drive that a friend gave me, i formatted both partitions except the one that said ''System Reserved''.
If anyone could help i would be very grateful. Sorry if it's confusing, english is not my native language.
Thanks in advance!
Hey, i solved (i hope), apparently it was something from spybot, i ran in safe mode and used the ''autoruns'' application and the description it said ''test.exe - Makes sure Spybot 2 is there on Windows 10.''
I deleted it and now it's gone. I tried removing the topic but i don't think i can. Sorry if i wasted anyone's time.

A:Test.exe process on startup and then disappears quickly

Hi there,Just to drop by a piece of advice - Spybot Search & Destroy is no longer recommended as its performance is very poor, and the TeaTimer function interferes with malware removal. Two better alternatives for anti-malware software are Emsisoft Anti-Malware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Both have excellent track records and offer real time protection if upgraded to paid version, and can be used alongside existing antivirus software.

Hi all. I am trying to fix my dad's computer that has a curious problem. When the computer boots up, the network fails to load, Norton's anti-virus fails to load, the windows gui is very very sluggish (many times locking up all together when any icons are double clicked), and the shutdown/reboot options are no longer displayed under the start menu. Additionally, ctrl+alt+del fails to open a task manager. When the computer is in this state it is almost completely unresponsive to any input.I have managed to get the computer operating normally by booting into safe mode and either choosing the "load last known good configuration" option or using the system restore. (I have used both these options because neither works consistently, often requiring multiple attempts to achieve a good boot). I have discovered no particular pattern, nor been able to identify any particular restore point that works or doesn't work.My current solution has been to simply not shut down or reboot the computer after I've succeed into getting it to work, however I would like to solve the underlying problem that is causes this.I have tried numerous things, including windows updates, reloading restore points, using Spybot S&D, updating and running a virus scan, all to no avail. I have yet to use HiJack this, so I went ahead and downloaded it and ran the scan, but I could use some help deciphering the results. Two problems, related in timing.

On July 1st, I made some adjustments to my startup config and such, and ever since then I've been having problems where my IE and Windows Media Player freeze for a few seconds when loading (though without interrupting data)

But most important of which is that since that time, my HP Factory Image D:\ drive has disappeared. It never served me any purpose, but it always just sat there in my Hard Disk lists on my Computer screen, and is conspicuous in its absence.

I checked my Disk Management and found that the 12 GB where the "D" drive was had become "Unallocated". Before I did something stupid, I checked to Rescan Drives, and it re-found the Factory Image! From then on, the FACTORY_IMAGE (D shows up in my Computer.

But after a few days I found that it was no longer showing on my Computer window, and realized that after restarting or shutting down my comp, it would always disappear, only to re-appear when I rescan my disks.

What's the problem? What service do I need to restore/fix to stop this from happening?

Somewhat related question: Would getting a whole new motherboard and CPU but retaining the old harddrive end these problems mentioned above or is it something to do solely with my faulty configurations?

A:Adjusted startup: HP Factory Image drive disappears after each restart

before you start spending money or mess your machine up any more--go into MSCONFIG and select the normal startup button then restart to see if problem(s) are gone

After working perfectly fine, my computer suddenly decided to start 'freezing'/'hanging' after displaying the XP logo in startup.
However, for some reason I can boot into safe mode and operate the system fine from there.

I have run msconfig and changed the startup settings so nothing loads but it still doesn't work. I have ran chkdsk and a couple of anti-virus progs but still nothing. System Restore doesn't work either.

The hard disk is only two months old and, like I said, I've had no problems prior to today.

Any ideas?

Background: Computer was working fine up until about 3-4 days ago. I changed an audio driver to force sound through the headphones while playing resident evil 5. It worked, but may have caused my side effects. I also tried to update the bios in the HP support function in windows, but cannot confirm if that went through or not.

About 2 days, ago, my computer started an annoying random shutdown problem. It would restart, but I'd get an error saying improper shutdown, would you like to boot into...(safe mode, etc)

Then I started having boot issues as well. It would run through startup recovery and work, but then shut down randomly (never while playing RE5 or Half Life 2, only when idle). Now it's to the point where I can't even get into windows. I've received the following error code after startup recovery runs: root cause found: boot critical file e:\windows\system32\kdcom.dll is corrupt

I've tried system restore 2x (and startup recovery like 6x) but system restore points only went back 3 days (I found that odd)

As a side note, I've seen some virus activity recently. I believe system progressive protection was one of them and since then I've seen doubleeclick.net (2 e's).

My Computer is taking too much time to boot up. As soon as I switch on my IBM PC,
the "IBM logo" and "Think Center"with a message - "System is starting" at the bottom appears on the screen and remains for more than 2 minutes. There after the normal process i.e Windows Logo followed by Welcome screen and finally Desktop appears. So the start up delay is mainly due to the appearance of IBM logo.
Can any of my friends guide me as to how I can skip this IBM logo screen as mentioned in bold type above.I am using Win XP Professional SP-3. Thank you.

Hey guys,

My laptop crashed for no reason after closing a tab on Chrome that was playing a YouTube video. I force shut down and during the start up, the Windows logo hanged for a minute or so before going onto the logon screen. It normally never stays for that long. A:black screen after xp logo on startup

Try these..

1. You might have over clocked the bios too much. Try lowering the speed. Or loading the bios default settings.

2. RAM is loose. Take out and firmly reseat your ram chips. Ram or memory is often a picky creature.

3. Have your tried letting windows XP boot for several minutes while showing the black screen. Say 10 minutes or so?

4. Can you boot into safe mode?

Good luck and please lets us know what happens.

I have this oldish but great Thinkpad A20p laptop that started behaving funny recently, sometimes stopping at the ibm logo, sometimes starting smoothly. At the moment, however, won't go past the logo with, at the bottom: "Press F1 for IBM Bios setup Utility" and "Press F12 to choose temporary boot device" [Picture1]. If I do F1 or F12 won't go anywhere. If I click "escape" I get the screen telling me what kind of Pentium I have, how much ram and sram, system bios and video bios shadowed and again press F1 and F12 but nothing happens; and that's all [Picture2]. I even changed the bios battery but reinstalled later the old one because nothing changed. What do you think the problem could be?
Thanks in advance.

Hey ivibee

What were you doing when the problem started occurring? When was the first time it occurred? What operating system are you running? I'm just trying to minimize the number of things that could be wrong.

I have Dell latitude e4200 and i want to remove company's logo which appears when i turn on the laptop. i am not talking about the windows logo.but this one comes before that at the very starting of the computer. so please help me. Thanks in advance..

A:how to remove company logo at startup?

Well you can't actually do that because the dell logo is from the BIOS (probably the most important part of your computer) and you cant remove the BIOS without rendering you laptop unusable. The Dell logo isn't that bad and it only appears for a few seconds anyways.

CPU: G4600 2 cores 4 threads
Mobo: MSI H110M pro-vd
RAM: Corsair Vengence LED 16gb
GPU: RX 480 4gb
HDD: SATA Toshiba 2.5 5400 RPM (boot)
SSD: SATA Sandisk 2.5 (550 mbs read?)
OS: Windows 7

So I got the computer working flawlessly for 3 days after drivers were all installed and I know Kaby Lake cpus arent supposed to be used on windows 7 but i dont think thats the problem been working at it for 16 hours now and decided to swallow my pride and reach out.

So the first signs of issues appeared after playing ARMA 3 for around 5 hours when i got the first error didnt have time to read the box before everything closed not sure if thats at all related but i wanted to put that out there. Computer then worked for about another hour. The recurring issue is after doing anything on the computer for more than 20 minutes the screen turns to static the white noise kind and then after about 10 seconds flips to BSOD and reboots it gets stuck in a boot loop if i dont intervene and load it into last known config where it will function again for about 20 minutes before again static i tried getting it into safe mode gets hung up on atipcie.sys. Normal crashes on windows logo freezing for only a second startup repair isnt fixing much if anything. Im fairly certain this is a graphics issue. However card works flawlessly in another PC. And this system will not boot correctly regardless to having the gpu in or out gets to the same point in the logo and BSOD so im here i tried disabl... Read more

My Gigabyte startup logo is now taking over 20 sec to complete, where as when the pc was new it flashed so fast it was unreadable. Is this reason to be concerned? Is it wearing out...lol, or need flashing or ....?

Thanks for any help.

A:Slow Gigabyte startup logo

That normally means that some piece of hardware is not initializing properly. If the behavior happens before Windows starts to load (which it sounds like) then the problem is not with drivers. Drivers only affect Windows startup. The issue is one or more hardware components is failing or conflicting with another.

The first course of action is to disconnect anything not necessary to boot and test. External drives, LAN cable, speakers, USB devices, Printers. Even mouse and keyboard can be disconnected to test.

If the behavior continues then you want to disconnect internal devices, one at a time, and test. Do the CD/DVD drive first, then the hard drive. Of course the system will not boot without the hard drive, but you are only testing to see if the BIOS boot goes faster.

See what you find and then post back.

Hi guys, new to the forum and very much hoping to get help to the following problem:

I'm experiencing a very unusual problem that I've never encountered before nor read about anywhere on the internet. After installing a clean install of Windows 8 on my Dell Inspirion N5050, startup does get past the Dell logo and onto the Windows loading logo. However, it won't go further than this. The logo goes away, leaving the screen blank (NOT black) and it won't continue to the logon page or start menu. All lights are burning (meaning it's working somewhere underneath that weird blank screen). And the funny thing that when I press the power button (or close the lid) to put it to sleep and then wake it up by pressing again, the logon/start menu is there and Windows is working perfectly.

In short: everything works perfectly, except that I have to put the computer to sleep and wake it back up in order for me to see/get into windows.

Has anyone heard of this problem before? I'm so utterly confused here!

Thanks so much in advance!

A:Startup gets to Windows logo, but not further unless sleep

Make a start, when in Windows, by having a look at your device manager and seeing if there are any components which are not installed correctly (yellow marks). Then try an update (select internet search) of your graphics card. If there is no improvement, then I think you will get plenty of help here.

I use Dell computers often, and have found that going to their driver page and updating direct from there, usually does the trick.

After I startup a picture of the HP logo always tries to be opened. It asks me which app I wanna use to open it. It's very strange. I clicked on it once to see what it was, and it was literally just the HP logo. It started doing this a few days ago.
