I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My Idealpad Z510 became unusable after it was automatically updated by Microsoft.  I tried to reset the machine with OneKey Recovery (by using Restore from initial backup).  However, the machine always goes back to the OneKey Recovery screen after Step 2 (Start Restoration) is completed and machine was rebooted.  I dont have another system backup.  My initial backup might be bad.  What should I do?  I was thinking to get a inital system ISO disk so might be able to retire it to the disk image...  Where can I get the initial system disk?  I called Lenovo support and was put on-hold for two hours yesterday - noone pick up the phone. Thanks to whoever can help.

Can i Recover the C drive Files from Backup file of other PC using onekey recovery ?Since C drive is formatted For Ideapad Z510

A:Z510 Onekey Recovery issue,C drive

Hi Anandgs ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

If you have previously created a One Key Recovery backup before formating the original harddrive on a separate media , with the same model Ideapad Z510 and specifications , as far as I know , you would be able to restore using one key recovery from user back up as an option .

This would overwrite current data on the current pc .
Would this be how you plan on retrieving backup info?

Update us .

Hey guys, I have a Lenovo Ideapad IdeaPad 100 14ibd - win10 and basically im planning on formatting my laptop to get rid of all the stuff/unknown files that are terribly slowing down my ram. But im still new to this process so im wondering if using Lenovo's Onekey recovery is a good thing but then i saw the Reset this PC feature of windows is another thing. My question is, what would be the more recommended thing i should do to get my laptop to its original state just like the new windows 10, or are there any difference within those  two?PS: I got my back up files all set from this laptop to my external hd already Thank you!

Once I opened my laptop and it was in a OKR mode and it would not boot normal, just keep going into OKR mode. I performed OKR but nothing change (except loosing my data which I checked using Ubuntu). Is there any way how to make it boot normal? Or to reinstall windows using some other tool? Is it some system bug?

Hi.I have an IdeaPad 310 that shipped with a 2TB HDD that I would like to replace with a 512GB SSD.After speaking with Lenovo support i was under the impression that I should be able to use OneKey recovery to create a USB recovery image, swap the drives over and use System Retore to load a factory fresh OS on my SSD. I have prepared the Recovery USB drive. I am in the process of trying to initiate the OneKey Recovery system restore. This is where i run into problems. OneKey does not pick up my USB drive recovery image.Ok - perhaps the USB drive is not configured as a bootable device. I have used DiskPart to reformat the drive to NTFS format and make the boot partition active (diskpart active). My USB drive is too large to format as FAT32...NTFS is not compatible with UEFI...(?)... So in the BIOS I have selected Boot Mode as Legacy..., Disabled UEFI... USB is enabled. Now when i run OneKey recovery --> System restore... UEFI network boot does not start up, but i receive an error that no OS was found, remove drive and restart (or words to that effect..). What next? Do i need to Format in FAT32 in order to boot from the recovery drive?

I am having issues with onekey recovery because I am trying to factory reset my laptop. I have used it before without issues, but I believe it may have happened after I tried out Windows 10 but then reverted back to Windows 7. If I try to use OneKey recovery through the program, when I select the option to reformat, it just restarts my computer normally. If I try to use the onekey recovery key on the keyboard, it just turns on my computer normally. Any solutions to this issue?

Hi avraham123 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

This is the main guideline  (click highlighted link for full article) regarding corrupted partition.

If the Hidden Partition is destroyed:
If the hidden partition is destroyed or replaced hard drive, you won't be able to restore the system through Lenovo OneKey Recovery software. You need to utilize the Recovery DVD, read more from below related articles:How to recover the system to Factory settings with Recovery DiscsHow can I get a system recovery CD, DVD or USB from Lenovo
Note:
If you accidentally uninstall OneKey Recovery, you may go to D drive. Find the folder named as Drivers. Open it to find out OneKey_Recovery folder --> find setup.exe. Click on it and follow the on-screen instructions. OneKey Recovery will be reinstalled.
If you are unable to reinstall OneKey Recovery, you are recommended to contact local service provider or read How can I get a system recovery CD, DVD or USB from Lenovo for more information to get recovery media

As discussed here are suggested steps that you can also try if repair failed .
1) Make sure that recovery partition is there or not. As I said, go to Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Disk Management and check.
2) Second, When the laptop is shutdown, try pressing the NOVO button and see if the laptop starts in the recovery mode.
3) You can try to restore the laptop from you... Read more

Hello, I have an Ideapad z585 that's a few years old. It came pre-installed with windows 8 but I upgraded to 8.1. A few weeks ago it refused to boot up windows, giving me a screen saying "Preparing Automatic Repair" that would loop until reaching a black screen and never continuing. I took the drive out and connected it to my PC to find that (C: ) is unrecognizeable, but it recognizes the (D: ) partition that was set up on the drive when I bought the laptop. So I used some software to recover all of the files on the now not accesable (C: ) partition, put the drive back in the laptop, and tried to do a system restore with Onekey. Since I have evrything backed up I don't mind doing a factory reset. I pressed the novo button and selected "System Recovery", a loading screen popped up, and then nothing happened. It just fades to a blank screen and stays there. After doing some research, it's likely that some of the boot files and onekey files became corrupted. Is there any way to get around this and do a system restore? I was reading about obtaining a recovery disc on the Lenovo site, but it seems kind of difficult to get a hold of one in the United States. Any help is appreciated, thanks

I really hope that there is someone who can help with a OneKey recovery failure.  Briefly, when Windows 10 was first launched and prior to trying it out, I used the OneKey recovery button to back up my laptop onto an external hard drive.  When I didn?t like Windows 10 I successfully restored everything to where it was by using the OneKey recovery button.  Because this worked I had no hesitation repeating the OneKey process earlier this year.  Sadly, when I pressed the Recovery button, after a few minutes the following message was displayed: ?The program cannot restore the system partition because there is not enough available space on the hard drive?.!I tried Lenovo support and was told to take the laptop to PC World, which I did, however after three weeks of trying they failed to restore the laptop too! Can anyone please help?  Because the recovery worked the first time and I was confident that it would work the second time I didn?t backup any data.  Everything is now locked on the external hard drive. Thanks in advance.

The only difference between the first time I backed up and restored and the second time is that there is much more data stored.

Can anyone please help?  Because the recovery worked the first time and I was confident that it would work the second time I didn?t backup any data.  Everything is now locked on the external hard drive unless I can restore the laptop to the state when the back up was made.

Thanks

A:Ideapad Z585 will not boot or load onekey recovery

Hi mfell15 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Try to power drain the computer by detaching the ac charger and removing the battery , pressing the power button for 12 seconds .

Attach the ac charger only and turn on using Novo button (item 6 page 2) to power on the machine . As novo menu appears choose BIOS set up and set defaults on the exit tab then save and exit.

Turn off the machine again and unplug the charger pressing again the power button for 12 seconds to drain. Place back the ac charger and turn on with the Novo button to choose System Recovery.  Use One Key Recovery from initial back up to launch the factory OEM reset . You may try this sequence 3-4 times if needed.

The OKR imager is hidden on the harddrive partition and as long as it is not corrupted or harddrive is not physically affected , we expect it to run automatically restoring it back the way it was from out of the box.

To test integrity of the harddrive , if you manage to slave the laptop's harddrive on another computer ,try running a harddrive test similar to this and this. If it passes then we are expecting that it may be an issue with either OKR imager or software issue so you can decide to just proceed with clean installation of Windows 8/8.1 directly then install remaining drivers from the support site.

I bought my wife an ideapad maybe a year or so ago (the exact model isn't coming to me at the moment) and she recently had it die while she was using it due to low battery. When it started up, it was having issues starting up and went stright to onekey recovery. No problem, we've used this feature before... but after the recovery, it gives me the option to restart and it loads automatically to the onekey recovery again. It has done this time and time again. I am able to boot in to bios by pressing Fn+F2 when at the lenovo splash screen but nothing in there seems to give me any help or remedy the situation. The Lenovo splash screen seems to hang for a very long time and also displays "Checking Media" in the upper left corner, reminiscent of a DOS screen. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated... Also, I have ensured that the onekey button is not stuck. It seems to click in and out of place pretty obviously. I'm at a loss!

I just got my Lenovo ideapad z510 from the repair shop and it came back with literally all programs gone - energy manager and co. But my data was still intact. I downloaded a bunch of drivers and programs from the Lenovo support site and began installing. System restarted normally, and next thing, the one key recovery screen came up. I didn't initiate any recovery. I have a lot - and I mean A LOT - of important data on my laptop. Why the hell would I want to wipe them off? I need to start windows normally without this recovery thingy. Please, please, I need help skipping this thing.

I cannot remember if it stopped working BEFORE the Windows 10 upgrade.  I was trying to resolve this by following the solution someone posted to another user experiencing a similar issue. I downloaded the driver and tried to install it. However, nothing happened. I didn't uninstall the older driver before trying to install the later version, that may hve screwed things up. I just tred to remove the driver, restart and try installing again but when i click on setup file to run it, I get this message.

I am afraid it might not be working proberly like before.  And my last question can I buy only specific parts of the keyboard? my cat removed two buttons of my keyboard and it is too expensive to replace the whole keyboard with the backlit because it's working perfectly fine! Thank you.

Hi everyone, I bought my Z510 notebook about 2 years ago and this problem started about 2 weeks ago. A significat drop on performance occured when playing games that previously had no problem to run smoothly. It's quite annoying because now it's impossible for my games to run fluently - instead they almost run frame by frame like I had too weak graphic card.. It happened suddenly - one day it was OK and the other everything went down.I cannot watch YouTube videos in 1080p quality. 720p is max and if I chose higher quality, videos cannot run smoothly - the situation is almost the same like with my games. Video needs to take some time to load for about 2-3 seconds - it also lasts for about 2-3seconds.My notebook also needs much more time to start up and switch off. It used to be a copule of seconds and now I feel like this time has doubled. In general, my PC works slower.I scanned it for viruses a copule of times and even reinstalled Windows. Nothing helped. What is happening? Is it because of the graphic card or is it because built-in technology making the hardware obsolete and forcing buying a new PC? In advance thanks for You help.

Hi leocasasola,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can start with the power check out guide from the hardware manual (page 21-22) testing on the integrity of the AC adapter and operational charging to isolate.

Further steps may require certain tools and skill as board level checking (power board , systemboard ports and chips etc.), so it would be best that you take time to back up your data while you can and check on your local service center.

Hi all, I bought a used Z510 off Ebay a couple of days ago as a small upgrade from my Z500. I have a modded whitelist removed BIOS on the Z500 and use an Intel 7260ac WLAN card. Now just learnt that modded BIOS's cannot be flashed on the Z510 without hardware programming. I'm so annoyed at Lenovo for this selfish restriction and I'd seriously consider ever buying their products again. My question is: are there any 802.11ac WLAN cards that will work on this model? I've looked in the Hardware Maintenance Manual and all I can see are BGN cards, not AC. I've seen a Broadcom AC card mentioned in a thread but the model number was not given. PS: Does anyone know if the screen brightness issue was solved if one uses a FHD screen on a Z500? I know the Intel HD4000 drivers caused the issue but this thread seems to suggest that using a FHD screen reproduces the problem. Thanks a lot!Andrew
