Preferred Solution: Hello and Corel Draw 10 can't run under user type login (Windows XP)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have been using Windows 7 Home & Corel Draw 9 for months with out any problems. Now the Windows help and support pop up won't go away so I can't use CD 9. The message is:
"Why can't I get Help from this program?
The Help for this program was created in Windows Help format, which depends on a feature that isn't included in this version of Windows. However, you can download a program that will allow you to view Help created in the Windows Help format.

Any ideas on how to get rid of this and regain use of CD 9?

I am not sure if this is an application problem with Corel Draw 8 or a compatibility issue with XP. I just bought a new PC with XP on it. My old system was running ME. Everything works except Corel Draw 8. It seems OK except when I try to down load a clipart off the second disk that came with Corel Draw. It has clipart with a file ext. of .CDR on the disk in folders. When I attempt a download, the CD runs, and I can open the files down to the folder level. When I double click on the folder icon, it shuts down Corel Draw 8. If I just put the CD in and go to Run and browse, I can get to the folder level, but can't browse the files. It's as if XP won't recognize the file extension .CDR. I have searched diligently in the Corel readme files. They are not written for XP. They do say that to download files off disk 2 in NT4 you must download the Corel Media Indexer. I have done this, and it is running. But still no clipart downloads. Any ideas out there?

Bleeping Computer DOES NOT recommend the use of registry cleaners/optimizers for several reasons: Registry cleaners are extremely powerful applications that can damage the registry by using aggressive cleaning routines and cause your computer to become unbootable.

The Windows registry is a central repository (database) for storing configuration data, user settings and machine-dependent settings, and options for the operating system. It contains information and settings for all hardware, software, users, and preferences. Whenever a user makes changes to settings, file associations, system policies, or installed software, the changes are reflected and stored in this repository. The registry is a crucial component because it is where Windows "remembers" all this information, how it works together, how Windows boots the system and what files it uses when it does. The registry is also a vulnerable subsystem, in that relatively small changes done incorrectly can render the system inoperable. For a more detailed explanation, read Understanding The Registry.
Not all registry cleaners are created equal. There are a number of them available but they do not all work entirely the same way. Each vendor uses different criteria as to what constitutes a "bad entry". One cleaner may find entries on your system that will not cause problems when removed, another may not find the same entries, and still another may want to remove entries required for a program to work. ... Hi there,

When I start Corel Draw 8 (windows xp sp2) it freezes for 5sec then for example I can load a file and when I push any icon it freezes again for 5sec and so on.

Nearly the same happens when I start an old ms encyclopedia software (Lexirom) or the ms autoroute program. But those 2 programs run properly when completely loaded.

I think it has something to do with fileaccess of old applications.

Another thing, right now these effects only appear when I'm logged in as administrator but not when I'm a restricted user.

Is there something I can do to fix this problem?

I'm an artist. I use Corel Draw 8. Have been using it for years. I LOVE Corel Draw 8. I have zero money to upgrade, so don't bother to suggest that. I want to use my program! My old computer died, and I was given another by a friend. It's clean and has plenty of disk space. My old one ran Windows XP, and was slower than molasses, but the program worked fine. This "new" one runs Windows XP. But, for some reason, Corel Draw 8 keeps hanging up - freezing on me. I'm not doing anything different than I used to do with the program. (I create art in Corel PhotoPaint and then make greeting card templates in Corel Draw 8, and copy and paste or import the images to the cards.) I uninstalled and re-installed the program. That didn't work. I went on-line and researched the problem, found that many were dealing with the same problem and that there is a patch you can download that supposedly fixes it. I downloaded the patch late last night, and tried to create a card. It worked. But, this morning, when I went to begin creating cards again, it's not working again! Same thing is happening. If anything, I think it's worse! I tried to open my existing images in Photoshop 7, and export them or copy and paste them to the card template in Corel Draw 8, but the same thing happens - the Corel Draw 8 Save As dialogue box doesn't completely load, and when I try to close only that dialogue box, the whole program shuts down, without saving my work! There is no official portable editions for CorelDraw. Whatever you have downloaded was posted there with violations of license.

Checking for viruses would not hurt, by the way.

Regarding the problem: when making portable applications, it was noticed that some portables made in XP would not work in Win7, even if original program works.
Try to start it in XP mode.

Or download working trial version from official website.

Hi,
A colleague of mine has had an annoying problem on his PC for a while now and we can't seem to find a solution to it.
The machine he uses is a Dell Precision 470 workstation with 1GB memory, 500GB sata HDD, and 1x Intel Xeon 3.2GHz cpu running Win 7. It was originally bought as a Solidworks (3D CAD) workstation, but has been drafted into other uses along the way.
Onto the problem. In certain windows the font seems to be corrupt. Some of the message is legible and the other part isn't. The two programs where this happens are Solidworks and Corel Draw. Both programs have been uninstalled and reinstalled using either the uninstaller that came with the program or windows' own Add/Remove feature. CCleaner was used before reinstallation to see if there were any issues, which there didn't appear to be any.
The weird thing is that I run an identical machine, albeit without Corel and the problem doesn't occur.
I don't have a lot of experience with fonts, so all we have done is do a side by side comparison of the fonts on my machine and my colleagues machine using the windows character map.
This problem is not a show stopper, but is pretty annoying as you can imagine.
As this is a work machine, a solution without any registry editing would be preferred, but I acknowledge this is not always possible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How many fonts are on your colleague's computer?

I also found this on a Corel site
Having too many fonts installed can decrease performance and lead to font corruption. It is also recommended that TrueType and Adobe Type 1 fonts with the same name not reside within the Windows Fonts folder at the same time. Finally, checking for corrupt fonts periodically is also advised (corrupt fonts are usually zero kilobytes in size). These fonts must be removed from the Fonts folder in Windows.Click to expand...

Since recent XP re-install (now with service pack 3), previously saved Corel Draw 11 files that include JPEGs fail to open fully before crashing the program. I can open files that don't contain JPEGs, but the program will also crash when I import a JPEG.

I've removed and re-installed Corel Draw 11, updated it with service pack 2,all to no avail. All my files were successfully created in XP (then with SP2, but still couldn't open them before I loaded SP3) prior to this re-install and I have not experienced this issue previously.

In what may be a related issue, I cannot re-install an isometric tool plug-in for Corel Draw called EZMetrics. This also ran OK prior to XP re-install. When I double click the setup .exe I get this error message 'Unable to open Setup Data File, Exiting....'

This leaves me somewhat scratching my head for answers and I would be most grateful if there is someone out there who may shed some light on a possible fix. There are many hours of work in these Corel files that I'm a little concerened that I may lose.

Okay, here's the thing...
I'm sitting at work, and as some of you might know - time is of the essence!

So, let me get straight to the point.
How can I disable the small thumbnails which appear on each .CDR-file?
The process of generating each thumb is driving me crazy, and at the same time slows down the computer for longer periods.

I know that the previous computer didn't have these thumbnail-icons, so it must be possible to somehow shut them off.
Alas, I've not found any option to actually have this done in Corel Draw X3.

Just saw this post. The usual questions: it appears you got the file from someone else so is it possible it got corrupted along the way? That can cause issues with a program. Have you uninstalled the program, rebooted and installed new? Have you the ability to try the program and file on a different computer? Is your antivirus program up-to-date and a full/deep scan run? I'd also get the free Malwarebytes and install then scan.

I tried Windows Explorer, and while I can get to the images directory and the category subdirectory, beyond that - nothing further (files) shows up under Windows Explorer. Likewise using Corel Draw or Corel Paint, neither of those brings up any images off the disk. I'm sure the CD disk isn't damaged.
