CS Source game crashing.

Q: CS Source game crashing.

I just downloaded/installed CS Source, whenever I open up the game it freezes on the loading screen then I get the following error - The instruction at "0x106ae32c" referenced memory at "0x0e42a1a0". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the program.

I have tried
-Reinstalling CSS and HL2

I have
-ONE 2Gig stick of ram
-Latest sound and video card drivers
-Latest DirectX

I tested my computer and it passes the minimum and recommended requirements for the game with flying colors. I run CS 1.6 just fine.

I've read all help forums about this problem and it seems as though none of them provide the answer to my problem, any help is greatly appreciated.

Preferred Solution: CS Source game crashing.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A:haveing problems playing a game with out it either randomlly crashing the game...

first of all is this limited to this game alone?do other games run fine?check for any overheating signs, install the latest drivers for your video card and your mobo, direct x and any other update.see if you meet the minimum requirements for the game.(this was just the official response you would get from a techie..so bear with me)

if this is happening in this game only and not in any other and your pc isnt overheating and meeting the minimum requirements, then there is a good chance its an issue with your optical drive, try a combo drive if you've got any around.its an incompatibility issue with some of the games.good luck

I have an ongoing issue where I log onto the glyph launcher, log onto my server, play for a while, sometimes hours with no issue but then BOOM, the game just closes on me and I'm booted back to the launcher. I have to push the PLAY button again, log into the server again, but it seems once the game boots me out then the crashing becomes more frequent.

I at first reported it to Trion support (useless) all they do is copy and paste previous responses from previous games sometimes not even removing the other game titles from it, but all in all I have spent over a month with them and I have:

1. Expanded my paging file to initial size of 1X RAM size max size 2X RAM size (to handle the memory of the game)
2. Switched from DirectX11 down to DirectX9 and back again. (in game)
3. Lowered my FPS (frames per second) to 100 (in game)
4. Switched off Multithread rendering and VSync (in game)
5. They have also had me change the priority of the game archeage.exe to high to see if that helps and it doesn't
( I would start the launcher, log onto the game and the server, go into the character screen, then cntrl + alt + delete into task manager and right click the process and set the priority to high then go back into the game)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

NOTHING HAS WORKED.

yeah, i have heard people having problems with it, I would suggest uninstall steam and reinstall it and also uninstall the games also and reinstall them.

Hello, I recently built a new computer and it's going great but I have noticed that any audio source will make my games very quiet. I did the whole "Sound Options > Do Nothing" and that did not help. I have discord set up where it should not interfere with my games.

If I have a game up and click a youtube video my game is almost muted. It never use to do this. Any help will be appreciated

Well, the problem is as follows...

A few days ago I had some viruses on my comp - that problem's been solved with the help of some other admins and mods up. One problem still remains though, and since they're not gamers they can't help me there.

I play in the EPS (Pro Series) of the ESL (Electronic Sports League) as a squad member in a CounterStrike Source team...so I need this game to function again, asap...

Since the virus downer my rapid fire looks and sounds as follows:

boomboom...........boom.........*...*......boom...popboom.........................boom. (Yeah...I'm holding the mouse down and nothing is happening...Thing is, I can still move, jump, duck do whatever else fluidly without any lag - but rapid fire doesn't work anymore...and it's somewhat necessary in certain situations) Other people say my bullet rampages appear normal on their PC's, but I'm partially 2 meters distance away from them, releasing an entire mag. of MP5 or M4 onto them and nothing happens...

Things I've tried: De-/and re-install Counter-Strike: Source, De-/and re-install STEAM (takes...for...fu***n'...ages...). cl_lagcheck 1 (or whatever that lag check command is), standard config's and whatnot. Still, the problem remains. Any suggestions.

PS: Every other program works fine...

A:Counter-Strike: Source - my game's broken...

try getting a different hard drive and installing it on there. it's odviously having a cow with something on the current hard drive. try to defrag the HD, run adaware, or get a fresh HD with nothing in it and run it as slave or a second master drive (ie drive E or somehting) good luck to ya.

Also, I searched through most of the CS related threads and couldn't find this, so if this has already been discussed I'm sorry.

Whenever I try to play any source games (I've tried Half-Life 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2), they crash. I start the game fine, and can run around or do whatever for a couple minutes, but then it crashes. What usually happens is the video freezes, the sound loops for a couple seconds, and then the screen goes black and the sound turns into a horrible screeching noise. I then have to reset my computer. Before it crashes, everything is covered in little red checkers, they're kind of sparsely dotted instead of solid. This has been going on for quite some time. Half-Life 2 used to work perfectly fine. I was able to play Team Fortress 2 one time successfully until I quit myself, but after that it's crashed every time. I just formatted my computer for other reasons, and hoped that it would fix this problem too, but it still crashes the same.

I have an AMD Athlon 64 3200+, an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, and 1gb of ram, and I'm using Windows XP Pro.

Thanks.

I recently upgraded to windows 7 with reformat and all meaning a clean start with no documents or anything. After buying 2 gigabytes of ram (making my 1 gig now 3 gigs) and buying a "Nvidia 9800 GT 512mb" video card I was set to go. I loaded up World of Warcraft and was able to play for around 2 weeks. After a while my computer would lock up meaning i would have to force restart by pressing the restart button on my computer. This continues to happen repeatedly but only when I play graphical games such as World of Warcraft or heck even Audiosurf freezes. I have read many posts about it being due to the Nvidia 9800 GT drivers conflicting with Windows 7 while my friend says my outdated single core 2.00 Ghz processor is to blame. I don't want to go buy a new processor and motherboard only to have it continue to hard freeze on me any help?

Hi Gurus,

Please help me with this issue: Recently I bought an ATOM 330 with Intel mobo and I installed Windows XP 32-bits version plus Service Pack 3 and the latest updates (Nov, 2009)

From time to time, let's say 2 or 3 times daily (randomly), the computer reboots itself. First thing I checked was the power supply and it lwas OK.

Secondly I checked the Event Viewer and I found 4 events from System in the Save Dump source. Three of them look like:

Date: xx/xx/xxxx source: Save Dump
Time: xxxxxx category: none
Type: information Event ID: 1001
User: N/A
Computer: ATOM330

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x1000000a (0x09008090, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x805172d6). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini111409-01.dmp.

===================================================
The Event ID and bugcheck are the same for 3 dumps. In the fourth dump, the Event ID was the same (1001) but bugcheck was 0x1000007e

I "googled" it and I found in some sources that the root cause could be:
1) Memory
2) Drivers
3) Others

I'm using a single Kingston 2Gb DDR2 533Mhz. I checked in the mobo's manual and the Part-Number/Model of the memory was not listed but 1Gb from the same brand was so I think it should work (mobo supports up to 2Gb for sure)

So I tested the memory using a software "memtest-86". I burned the CD with the iso and after 1 hour running, the memory test passed without any errors.

Could you possibly post some more info on your system :

Which version of Win ? How much Ram ? What CPU ? What version of Direct X - you can check most of this if you :

Start > Run and type DXDIAG then look at the interface that appears.

Are you shutting down all non essential apps before starting these games as other things like Anti Virus progs will hog your resources. Especially as onboard graphics is using your system ram to function.

Its also worth considering that with such intense games you are likely to need a dedicated graphics card.

Next the above mentioned behaviour started being accompanied by a message saying

A:Game crashing

Have you actually tried to reinstall the game?

(And for the sake of clarification, with MTW2 you refer to Medieval: Total War 2?)

And if your power cable blows up, that's pretty bad. No idea what could cause that, if it's just a cable without anything else. But your PSU, 520W, isn't too much.

Keep these things in mind;

PSU usually gives less power than in the description. And then, if it's old, your capacitors are getting worn out and your computer will get lot less power than it's supposed to.

However, if your computer wouldn't get enough power, it would crash completely and you'd get constantly overheating issues. But just in case, do you have anything to check your temperatures with?

I sort of have an idea why my games crash, but not entirely sure.

And when I say games crash, I mean EVERY game I've played on my new laptop has crashed at one point or another randomly.

Manufacturer: ASUS - A8JP Notebook
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 (2.00 GHz)
Memory: DDR2 200-Pin Notebook Memory (1 GB)
Hard Drive: 5400 RPM (120GB - 65 & 45 GB Partitions)
Video Card: ATi Mobility Radeon X1700 (256 MB)
Sound Card: SoundMAX Integrated HD Audio
Operating System: Windows XP - Media Center Edition

Anyways, ATi decided to be retarded and release the X1700 Radeon, only to tell users that it is not developing any drivers or updates for it.

So, using the OEM driver from ASUS does not help and modded driver (while improving performance) still give me crashes.

Any ideas? Or is this problem way too broad as I fear it is.

Make sure you have the latest video and sound card drivers from the manufacturers' websites.
Set your desktop to a resolution of 800x600, 32 bit True Color.
1) Right-click on your desktop and select Properties.
2) Click the Settings tab.
3) Set your screen area to 800x600.
4) Set the colors to 32 Bit (True Color). Under Windows NT this will be listed as 65554 colors.
5) Click Apply and OK.
All background applications must be shutdown prior to running the game.

Delete the options.cfg file from the directory where you installed the game.

Every time I play Sanitarium, which I used to play on Windows 95 crashes. I keep getting an error 'sntrm.exe', This happens a few seconds after I start the game. I've changed Combatibily to Windows 95 but I'm still getting the same problems.

Also I keep getting a 'Insert disc 1' screen after I install Broken Sword, even though I have disc 1 inserted, I have two drives and I've tried the running the game in both. Not sure what's happening with this one.

Anything else I can try?

Hello, I made another forum here that was for games crashing. I was told to post my BSOD dump and system health report so here it is.

Bit of back story is that when I play any pc game they crash. Only the game crashes, no BSOD or anything, it will just freeze then say the game isn't working and I will have to close it.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Ross

Okay, so I've googled this problem and have no idea what the problem is:

So my game (Guild Wars) constantly crashes to desktop now, and I haven't done anything to the software/hardware/anything whatsoever between the time it was working fine and from when it began crashing. Whenever I go off for the night and come on the next day it lets me play the game for an hour or two, then it crashes. Once it crashes and I try to open the game again it only lets me stay on for a few minutes at a time. I've rebooted in between crashes; it doesn't let me stay on for more than a few minutes after the first crash anyway. I go to sleep or give it hours of time and then I get an hour or so of gameplay again (everything starts all over). I've put a fan next to my graphics card in my open computer but it hasn't helped.
My card is an Nvidia GeForce 7600 GT and my computer has 1 GB of RAM.

If anyone can offer help here I would really appreciate it, thanks!

A:Game crashing to desktop...

It certainly sounds as if it's an overheating issue. It may be your CPU, RAM or hard disk drives as well as your graphics card. Check that all your cables are secure and plugged in tight. Also put and reset your RAM and PCI cards as well to be sure nothing has vibrated lose.

Hi everyone. Fairly new laptop (less than 6 months) which recently has been crashing in a really odd way when doing playing Dota 2. No BSOD or anything, just straight shuts down. What usually happens is I start up the game, get into gameplay (past title screen loading screen etc.), get 25-30 minutes into game and it crashes.

The strange thing is this only happens under a few conditions. The battery setting has to be set to high performance and the charger has to be plugged in. The crashes never happen when the machine is running on battery alone.

laptop is a Toshiba Satellite s50t-B running windows 10

Specs
i7 4510U cpu
8GB ram
AMD Radeon R7 M260

Really appreciate any help at all. Thanks everyone.

A:Serious game crashing problem

Heres the problem

Ok I am so frustrated and REALLY DESPERATE. I have had this PC for two years. It has worked fine. I recently reformatted due to a networking problem i couldnt fix and got frustrated... Now after my reinstallation EVERY game I play crashes a few minutes into gameplay. Also during regurlar PC use like Internet browsing my screen will freeze and then flash black when the picture returns everything works fine... except for games of course. Here are my specs:

Pentium 4 2.66GHz
512 MB of Corsair Ram
Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP1
Nvidia Geforce 4 128MB Video Card
Nvidia 71.89 Win2kxp video drivers
DirectX 9.0C

Now here is the LONG list of things I have already tried.
I reformatted my computer literally a couple of hours after the first reformatt.
I ran all of the DXDiag tests.
I wiped the video drivers and reinstalled using Driver Cleaner Pro.
I updated my sound card drivers
I disabled my on board sound
I ran SpeedFan to monitor my CPU temp it runs between 32-40 degrees C.

There are a few games on the list i cannot play on my computer. As like LOTR online,D&D online and cod 2 but usually cod 2 works for a while or all day but rarely does the same as the first 2 but not as consistant. When i start LOTR online i can play for like 2 mins the boom the picture that the game was showing at the time freezes, the game goes on but i can only see what was on screen when it crashes. Then after about 30 seconds my monitor will go into sleep mode. I have to hard boot the computer to do anything else.

There is a reoccurring problem that I am having in my game; it crashes. However, it only does this when my Sim is riding a horse. I am not certain when this happened, nor do I know for a fact if it first occurred with the installation of the new patch. I am, however, almost certain that this is when the problem occurred.

The first time I noticed the problem was yesterday. I had finished making a very nice farm house and stall for my sim and her horse. My game had been running a bit slow, so I cleared out my Cache and ran the game. When my sim went for a ride on the horse, it ran extremely fast. The best way I can describe it is it ran as though it were in the fastest speed (speed 4), but the game was in normal speed. My sim then rode the horse to the racing stable to enter it into a race. When she tried to enter the horse into the race the game froze.

I had been playing the game for a couple of house, building the house and setting everything up, and I had not saved the game. When I restarted the game, I rebuilt the farm house and tried it again. The game continued to crash at the horse race in Appaloosa Plains. Today, after a good night's sleep, I decided not to build the house, but the just let the horse and rider run, and quite possibly enter into the race. This time I did not enter the horse into the race, but instead I had the horse to buck the rider. Just as the horse began to back up, the game froze. This must be note that each time the horse appeared to be run... Read more

A:The Sims 3, Game Crashing.

Report this to EA. Also try checking if you really got the latest drivers. Only download drivers from their website. Your system is fine, it could run The Sims 3, might experience some logging, but the crash is pretty strange. Also try updating the game through the Sims game launcher. Hope this helps!

Hi guys
I'm at my wits end.
I have these incidents where I'll be playing a game [namely City of Heroes ], and about half an hour into the game, my keyboard will decide that it won't let me move using the keys - neither will it allow me to use the Windows key to get out of the gaming window, which I normally have no problem with. When I do press the windows key, I can only see half of the taskbar, and the game is still visible. In-game animations are playing as normal, yet I can't select the CoH tab in the taskbar to return to the game.

I can, however, type as normal (on the first sign of this happening).

I end up having to switch it off from the mains!

It's been doing this for a while now, on and off - I'm worried I will damage the hard drive, or I've already damaged it.
I've attached a pic of the EventTracker log which shows "Printers" as the category - I must say though, a printer is not attached [which is even more weird]

I have a crashing problem. I recently purchased Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2. So far I've gotten about 10 minutes of gameplay after like 50 attempts of tryin' to play the game. For some reason I can't figure out why the game will just crash a blue screen flashes for like a split second and the computer automatically restarts. No warning at all... just kaput it crashes. Very annoying. I've had a recent problem as well... I had my computer fixed by a friend, but he's no longer in town. It worked for about 2 hours... then my bro did something in msconfig and totally screwed something up. So... i couldn't recover from that so I attempted to format and reinstall myself. Somehow I succesfully did this. ... But... same ol' problem... still crashing. I've tried downloading the lastest drivers for the sound card, (Creative Audigy Gamer) and video card drivers ( GeForce 3 Ti 500)... everythings running on a 1.2 AMD 60GB HD... and Win XP... everything worked well before the reinstall... except for the game problem of Need for Speed... I didn't have it before my friend helped me out with it... If anyone has ANY suggestions I'm willing to try any of them!!! Thank ya
