voice command & skype --> skype crashes

Q: voice command & skype --> skype crashes

when opening /changing to skype with running voice command, skype crashes (win 7 32bit) and shows no reaction. But this only happens with an activated voice command, if it is paused or deactivated skype is running without any problems.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I use Skype for voice/video conversations. I have always wondered if it's possible for tech people, if they gain an access to my computer, to extract/retrieve some files somewhere in hidden memory and to listen to my conversations somehow left/recorded on the computer. I'm not talking about installed spyware. I'm talking about naturally left trace in the computer memory. Hope I explained things right, I'm not a tech guy. Thanks.

Sorry all, don't know if this is the correct thread to post in (Im using windows XP and saw software related threads.)

Anyway, I'm trying to use Skype on this computer to chat with my friends while we play HoN. Only on this computer I am using right now do I get this problem.

Basically voice chat will work fine for about an hour (sometimes less), and then all of a sudden the voices become choppy and I can't understand what they say.

I doubt this is an internet issue mainly because I can run my game on this computer and set up my laptop right next to me and run skype from that, and my laptop (which is Vista) will run the voice chat perfectly fine with no internet lag on either computers, heck I can even use my other computer at the same time doing something with the internet and still not get any interruptions, so I don't think its a bandwidth problem.

If anyone has any advice for me I'd appreciate it ^_^

I just recently purchased a Skype number and I have a few emails telling me that I have a new voice message and I should sign into Skype to listen to them.

So I signed into the metro style Skype app on windows 8.1 but could not find voice messages. I tried on the surface rt app but no option for voice messages. I tried logging into the Skype website and again could not find my messages.

So how does one listen to their voice messages in Skype?

Using Skype, Firefly, Google talk etc, I can hear the other person clearly but they can't hear me. They get about the 1st 2 seconds of my conversation then nothing. This has happened to me before and seemed to clear itself but has started again. It's really annoying, Please help if you have any ideas on this I have done audio tests on the audio and it works fine. My microphone is OK cos I use it with 'callserve' and no problems.

A:NO voice transmit on VOIP, Google Skype etc

Does your microphone have a boost option:

That's for a different microphone, but others may have it.

If not, what microphone are you using?

For the Skype, try here:

I selected the second option, and it gives you some things to try.

I'm posting this for a friend:

He's had a very unfortunate history with his headsets. He has had multiple headets on multiple different computers, and he's had trouble with all of them.

His problem is that while he was in skype, we (his friends) could hear not only him, but also his own output and our own echo. This has been a very, very strange thing, because he has disabled every sound device (yes, also stereo mix) but his mic, and he turned his volume way down. The echo problem is the worst when he unmutes his mic, and then slowly gets less with time, but the output problem always remains.

He has had this problem with 3 out of 4 headsets, one of which was the same as I had at the time while I had no trouble at all. He has always used stereo jack headsets.

His current headset:
Razer Carcharias

If anybody would assist with this issue it would be much appreciated.

Have you updated Skype to the newest version? Check the manufactures website for an update.

Try to update the sound driver on your notebook. You can find it on the Toshiba website:

Skype / Messenger Live video call voice quality (fixed)

Hi All,

I am having a few problems with webcam calls with my folks.

I have installed the latest versions of Skype and Windows Live Messenger on both machines but when using either one for webcam video calls their audio and video coming to me is absolutely fine and so is my video to them however my audio to them is delayed, juddery, and robotic/gravelly (as if i have a sore throat). It is the same in both programs.

Zone Alarm on both machines is configured to allow these programs to run as they wish but still the problem persists.

We both have broadband at speeds usually no lower than 3mb.

Any help apreciated.

A:Skype / Messenger Live video call voice quality

skype is heavily dependant on bandwidth. I use it here in Iraq and with phone calls can be garbled if bandwidth is insufficient. However, it would seem in your case, the problem may be firewall related. I would ensure that all your ports are open for skype. I don't recommend zonealarm as it interferes with many programs.

I have a Blue Yeti Microphone, and it's quality only shows through within recording programs such as Audacity. How come my microphone quality is not the same standard when I talk on Skype, Discord and TeamSpeak? I have the settings modified for these programs so that it is at optimal settings, but the general quality of the microphone isn't heard. Although there is a difference between the quality of the Blue Yeti and my previous microphones, it sounds completely different from recording programs AND how it should sound as a high end microphone.

A:Sound Quality On Skype/Discord (Voice chat systems)

Quality relies on the amount of data throughput. Most chat programs place a priority on speed (ie: low latency) as opposed to quality, so the amount of data used for the audio stream are reduced.

As you noted, the quality of the mic is noticeable over your previous mic. So the mic quality isn't wasted.

Hey guys hope you can help me here.
When i'm at any kind of voice overs, in a call on skype or teamspeak it manages to happen a sound crash, but the time isnt certain, sometimes it takes about 10 minutes and other times take 1 hour or more to crash.
When the sound crashes, all the videos freeze. Its like watching a video with super slow motion and no sound.
Only way to solve this is rebooting.

I noticed that skype has send to all skype contacts a certain link, to one contact even multiply links.
this all happens on the same day: 17th december from 14:30 -14:39.
I haven't seen any spam send anymore after that.
Skype support told me to reset my password, I did, and to download safety scanner from microsoft. they proviced me with the link.
when I try to open the link, the browser cannot load the page, it is stuck in a loop:  sometimes I see a page, but just for a second or even less, then mostly white page, and browser keeps trying to load the page. and in chrome : a  little shield symbol on the right side of the address bar says that it's trying to load scripts from unauthenticated sources. this message dissappears very quickly.
I have skype installed on two laptops, and on my smartphone (iphone).
The problem I told about, is on one laptop that has no antivirus. I did not yet checked the other laptop, if the microsoft page opens or not. but I do have bitdefender internet security (paid) installed on the second laptop.
I want to be sure the laptop that has the problem, is virusfree.

A:spam send in skype account to all skype contacts - cannot load page safety scan

I downloaded the safety scanner from microsoft from my other laptop without any issue.
copied it to a usb, put it on the problem laptop, a full scan and nothing found.
I realize I did had a antivirus paid version (kaspersky internet securuity) on the laptop, as I first said that it had no antivirus.
I only disabled it because it had problems running.
Now I enabled it, updated it and run a full scan. nothing found.
I don't know if skype is the cause and not a virus?  the skype workers told me that the cause could be anything (email, virus on computer).
I mostly use skype on iphone, and here I'm confused with what the skype workers said: one said that iphone can not be infected, so no need to check the iphone.
an other said: you can download an app from app store to scan for viruses, because it is possible that the virus is on the iphone.
This is really not clear anymore.

I've experienced some problems and discomfort with skype for win8:
- not able to show screen,
- terrible design,
- very slow response (i.e. when I click RMB, the menu shows up in several seconds, and I expect to see it immideately),
- doesn't understand links to skype chat like skype:?chat&blob=blahblahblah, when I click it nothing happens.

I've also tried skype for desktop, it was even worse:
- when I changed online status to invisible (i've also tried with N/A), skype stopped to receive and send messages,
- when this or another error occurs, I try to kill skype process via task manager, TM then firstly says that skype is not responding (so i am trying to kill process), after that TM stops responding as well.
So when i've tried skype for desktop i had to reboot my laptop about 5 times in a day.

Now I've installed skype from Store back, but I still need to go to skype chat.

Could anyone please help me either make skype 5.x/6.x work on win8, or enter the chat which i need?

Hello all.

These are the error codes it generates:

And 4 Minidumps are attached in a single zip file.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

A:Skype Crashes

All your minidumps crash at sfng32.sys. This is the Skype driver.

Check for any updated versions of Skype. If that doesn`t help, uninstall Skype.

The Skype driver is probably causing a conflict and taking Windows down with it.

I have always used Skype for Desktop and only recently found that there is a Skype Modern App on my system.
From what I have read it would seem the best plan would be to ditch the App and just continue with the desktop version.
Have there been any recent changes that would make the the Modern App a better solution than the Desktop version?

A:Skype for Desktop vs Skype Modern App

They have updated it recently so it doesn't continue to ring even when you have answered the desktop version which is why I uninstalled it in the first place. This means in theory you could install both and answer whichever you felt like at the time.

I prefer the look of the desktop version personally so I never re-installed the Modern App version.

Dear TSG -
For the last 3 months I have been running my iBook G4 (Mac OX 10 v. 10.4.11) through an internet provider out of Guangzhou, China -- where I live. All of a sudden, the computer slowed to a halt, and Safari and Skype started to crash within 30 seconds every time I tried to use them. Interestingly enough, Firefox, works fine -- though fairly slow.

I live in a highrise apartment with about 5,000 people and all of our computers run through a few switches somewhere in the depths of the building.. though connection speed hadn't been bad previously. i suspect one of these 5000 people is stealing my bandwidth. One curious symptom is that in the System Preferences panel, under Network Settings a pop-up window says "Your network settings have been changed by another application" and keeps saying it no matter what I do. Even if I "lock" my settings in place, it says this each time I check. I am attempting to run through a built-in ethernet using PPP.

Recent activity includes a download of Quicken 2007 to try and get my banking online. I deleted it later under the assumption that the sync function between it and the internet was paralyzing my computer.

Please let me know what other information I can provide or if I need to move my post.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Hey all!

Well,I'll try and make this as short as possible.

One night,I decided to delete programs that I didn't need anymore. You know, the random useless stuff you once needed, then forgot about,so you delete.Yes?

Well,In the process of that I delete something.I don't know what..But it must have been an important component to windows, because it prompted me to put the windows disk in. I did so,but.. I had clicked something, and it COMPLETELY.RE-INSTALLED. WINDOWS.

I was pissed. So,since it was late at night.I crashed.. got up and tried working on it.

So,I tried the whole setting my system back to the date before. Problem? it only showed that one date.Nothing before.

With that said.

I lost everything. Photos [I'm hugely into photography] Videos, writing and a whole crap-load of music.

Now. I've been working from it ever since.

But,I recently discovered.. That video/audio crashes me.

I can't go onto msn video/voice.. [will no transmit,or let me see/hear anyone else without BSODing me]
Same with Yahoo.
Skype..since it sets up your video first,it automatically crashes me.

I wish I would have saved the myriad of error codes it gave me,but I did not.

Now,all my computer specs are on my homepage.

If there is anything..anyone can tell me with fair certainty..please do.

HELP! I really need to use skype to contact people but when I turned on my computer today it stopped working. Basically Skype would open for half a second before freezing, this was immediately followed by windows 7 telling me the program had stopped working and that it could not find why. The only option here is to end the process. I have occasionally had this before, but all I needed to do was restart skype and it worked fine. Not this time. Skype crashes within milliseconds of me starting it every time. I have tried reinstalling, but still nothing.

What can I do

A:Skype Crashes on startup

My suggestion:

Download & Install CCleaner (if you don't already have it)
Uninstall Skype via Add/Remove Programs
Run CCleaner
Click "Run Cleaner"
Next, in the left pane, click "Registry"
Click "Scan for Issues", let it scan.
Next, click "Fix Selected Issues"
Restart your Computer
Download & Install Skype again.

Report back with any news.

I installed the latest version 5 in my computer and when you do a restart it crashes. I rolled back with rollback rx and installed version and everything is OK. I did an internal update to version 5 and all went well until you restart then it crashes. Rolled back to version 4 and it's OK. The only problem with version 4 is that when you close it minimizes to the tray. I have the box unchecked under advance but no good so I run it in compatibility mode Vista SP2 and that took care of the problem.

A:Skype Crashes Version 5

I'd previously been running 5.0 (freshly installed about 2 months ago when I freshly reinstalled Win7 Pro x64, after a year of running happily on my initial Win7 Pro x64 install back in December 2009).

No problems with Skype on 5.0.

I just downloaded and installed/upgraded to the latest version (right over my existing installed 5.0) and it went without a hitch. Seemed to work fine.

Restarted the machine. Still seems to work fine. No problems at all.

But then... I was not upgrading from 4.2 to 5.1 as you are.

Sorry... no help, I know.

I Am Going To Divide This Into 2 Topics. First Topic Being The Crashes (As it takes less time to explain) And The Constant BSoD's
Google/Skype Crashes
Recently I have been crashing in Google Chrome (I Have Already Un-Installed And Re-Installed It). So far I have noticed it mostly occurs when i'm watching Youtube/Netflix or if i'm on a website with plenty of pictures. So I also thought it could be my flash player. So I uninstalled that and reinstalled it. No fix their. My skype no matter what lasts for a decent 1-2 hours before it crashes and I have to remove it from task manager and open it back up. I haven't uninstalled skype and reinstalled it because I figured it wouldn't be much help as Google Chrome proved.
Now my BSoD issue is more frequent and a lot more annoying as I have to boot up my PC all over again. These annoying BSoD's occur whenever I try to play a game. They rarely occur when I watch a video but they are pretty uncommon on Netflix. Now a big problem with my BSoD's is that their a good variety with different causes. My BSoD's

I have been a regular user of Skype for several years. In the last few months Skype has started crashing more and more regularly, until now it happens every time I try to make a call. Skype has become completely unusable for me. I have done a lot of Googling on this, and while it appears to be a very common problem, particularly for people running Windows 7, none of the suggested solutions has worked for me. When I make a call, I get the error message "Skype has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". I click on "close program" and skype shuts down, but no solution suggestions are forthcoming. Suggested solutions I have found on line include updating Flash player for Internet explorer, resetting all internet explorer settings to default and deleting Skype appdata files. I have tried these suggestions without effect. I have done a complete uninstall of Skype, and manually deleted all remnant files and folders, as well as all mentions of skype in registry. I have reinstalled Skype from an .msi installer, as the normal download would not install - it said that it was examining my computer prior to installing, and this went on and on and on forever. Again, this is a frequently reported problem online. The .msi installer worked without any problems, and skype now starts up without any problems, but as soon as I try to make a call, it just stops working.&#... Read more

Hi, I'm running Vista 64bit SP2. I am getting this problem, less frequently lately, where Windows Explorer crashes seemingly randomly. Usually it happens if I right click something on the desktop, but it has happened while copying and pasting, or just browsing folders (none in particular crash consistently). Sometimes, it also crashes if I open Skype. Since this started happening I've also noticed that occasionally if I open Photoshop it too will crash after loading. The most consistent however are the right clicking and opening Skype. The weird thing is, this does not happen always - if it happens once and I do it again soon after, it is guaranteed to crash. If I wait a minute or two and then try, it usually succeeds. I can't figure it out. I have done a memory and harddrive check, scanned for viruses, spyware/adware, made sure my BIOS settings weren't any different... it really has me stumped. It isn't a huge deal, but it's annoying.

When explorer crashes the associated dll is usually ntldll, but not always.

Need a screenshot or error report? System specs, dxdiag? Let me know.

I have Skype on Win7 Pro (32-bit). It works fine generally and have no problem when it's up and running.

However, I rarely switch off my PC and put it into Hibernate or, occasionally, Standby instead. Whenever I resume from either of these states Skype crashes. I have no idea why. I don't really have any more information that I can give about this problem but it's annoying and I'd like to get it resolved.

Any ideas on what I should look for or try?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mcfreshmint.

It appears that your webcam is already having the latest driver. Support + Downloads: HD Webcam C270 - Logitech

If the BSODs continue to appear even after uninstalling/reinstalling the driver, it would be the best to contract Logitech. They might have some settings etc that may work as stable in your system.

Hi all,
I have a 5-month-old machine with Windows 8.1 installed (All the updates are in). On this I have an AMD Sapphire Radeon R7 260X Graphics card from which I had no problem since I bought it. I play games very smoothly without any crashes etc. But, although at first I could make video calls and open my webcam (Microsoft HD 3000) using Skype, now, whenever I do it Windows restarts my graphics driver and shows me an error message saying that the driver was not responding and it was recovered, and Skype continues "loading"my webcam indefinitely.
I have already uninstalled and reinstalled: Skype, my webcam drivers, my graphics card drivers (the problem was not solved)I have the latest version of Skype and all of the latest drivers (for the webcam and my graphics card)My webcam works from anywhere else but not in Skype (so it is a Skype-specific issue)I tried opening my webcam through the Settings window of Skype and the same thing happened.

I haven't any clue on how I am gonna solve this issue (without reinstalling the OS of course )... Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum!

Are the graphics drivers different from when you first got the machine and it was working?

Hi folks,
Over the past day or so i've been having an issue that has basically stopped me in my tracks as far as using the PC goes, completely stopping my use of Skype and Google Chrome.
It started yesterday, I was using my PC as normal watching some youtube videos and my PC shut down randomly. I have had no spontanious shutdowns since then but my Skype and Google Chrome don't work at all following that shutdown.
Google Chrome just closes as soon as it's opened, flashes up for a moment and then closes (no error messages).
Skype opens fine and will stay running indefinitely as far as I can see, until I enter my credentials and press log in. at which point it loads my contacts and then crashes, giving me the following error.

so...the last few days I've been dealing with skype crashing every few days, and when I check the event viewer logs, it flags on ntdll.dll.

below is attached an image of the last instance of this occurring.

I ran check disk, I ran the system error checking, I just ran the scannow, and every single built in windows utility says she's go flight.

I doubled that up by reinstalling the program.

Win 7 and Skype 6.3 just plain hate each other. I cannot get that thing to install with crashing my machine. I recently looked through the Registry and found dozens (at least) of entries for Skype. I've tried to install Skype both with and without ZoneAlarm running - it makes no difference - everything crashes during the Skype install.

Regarding the Skype entries in the Registry - is there a liklihood this is what's crashing Skype, and do those entries have to be deleted. and if so, how?

A:100% CPU usage in XP SP3 when on "voice call" in Skype

You have too many Startup applications loading with Windows. This can significantly increase your Startup time and affect overall performance.

Please download and run Autoruns.

Click on Options.

Put a check mark on Hide Microsoft and Windows Entries.

Hit the F5 key to refresh your page.

Only non-Microsoft applications will be showing.

Select the Logon tab and uncheck the following items:

Adobe Reader Speed Launcher

Adobe ARM

ISUSPM Startup

HP Software Update

Digital Line Detect.lnk

HP Digital Imaging Monitor.lnk

Microsoft Office.lnk

WinZip Quick Pick.lnk
Other than your antivirus, firewall and Internet connectivity service, the Startup Type on most of your non-Microsoft Services (from programs YOU have installed), can be changed from Automatic to Manual. This will reduce the amount of processes running in the background and speed up your computer.

Do not worry about making the wrong choices. If some programs aren't running properly when their Service's Startup Type is set to Manual, everything can be restored to the way it was before, following the same procedure. There isn't any risk involved.

Run Autoruns again (with a check mark on Hide Microsoft and Windows Entries).

Select the Services tab.

Only non-Microsoft services will be showing.

I've been having an issue since having my computer fixed/formatted over winter break in which I get a black screen and a repetitive spamming of whatever sound was playing (like a stuck record or something like that).

Quick Info: Using Vista with SP2. I believe that I have the most recent video drivers (I certainly tried to install them anyway). I'm using a dual-monitor display (laptop and monitor). All of my dxdiag info is attached.

I run into this issue without fail about 5-10 seconds into anything that, from what I can tell, is both video intensive and interactive.

For example, I can watch videos and movies without any issue, but I can't run any games or Skype. I've tried my old Warcraft III CD, Gunz the Duel (demands very little of the system), and Skype. However, I can use video chat through other services (AIM, Digsby).

As far as past capabilities go, I used to be able to run games like World of Warcraft, Age of Conan, etc. without any issue. I've exhausted my technical knowledge trying to figure this out so if anyone can help, I appreciate it.

Also, regarding the video drivers. I tried a few times to update them, but I'm not sure if it ever worked. The change was never reflected in my dxdiag.
