Need help with CPU upgrade to meet min. specs for an Elgato

Q: Need help with CPU upgrade to meet min. specs for an Elgato

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU so that it meets the minimum requirements for the Elgato HD60s and it needs to be:
-good price for performance
-compatible with my motherboard

The goal is to find the right CPU that meets these minimum requirements without spending an arm and a leg while being compatible with my system.

Minimum requirements for the Elgato HD60s:
-intel core i5-4xxx (quad core) or better

My PC specs:
Motherboard: msi b250m pro-vd
CPU: intel pentium g4560 @ 3.5 GHz

Preferred Solution: Need help with CPU upgrade to meet min. specs for an Elgato

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So when I play games I meet the minimum AND recommended specs most of the time (I check using http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/), yet when I actually play the game I have to run everything on low, and sometimes that doesn't even work.

I had problems earlier with random, terrible lag just in any application earlier, but I fixed that by cleaning out the fans in my CPU. I still have problems with even more extensive lag when I look at smoke particles in games.

I think that it might be website not being correct, because here are my specs

"OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium , 64 bit
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 620 Processor, AMD64 Family 16 Model 5 Stepping 2
Processor Count: 4
RAM: 5887 Mb
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9100, 256 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total - 598084 MB, Free - 192212 MB; D: Total - 12292 MB, Free - 2232 MB;
Motherboard: PEGATRON CORPORATION, VIOLET, 3.02, 101270380004365"
Antivirus: None"

The NVIDIA GeForce 9100 is an integrated graphics card, and I know those are terrible for gaming, but the website says that I pass both the minimum tests and recommended tests for the games I checked (Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Empire Total War, Alien Swarm), so what is the problem?

I've already bought new RAM so my next target is a video card. Looking around it appears i use PCIx16 or w/e cards. I'd like something that would last me at least a year or two but it doesn't need to be top of the line. Suggestions on the card choices themselves, and also if i need to do anything else please tell me. *note* wow i must be tired because this reads horribly lol. o well.

I have a few questions:
1. I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo La 1703, now as far as I understand I have a 5400RPM hardrive in there , and on amazon there is the seagate 5400RPM LINK but also the 7200RPM LINK, and they are fairly the same price so the question is will my laptop be compatible with the 7200RPM hardrive?

2. I have found the Kingston RAM compatible with my computer on amazon, LINK but I've heard that crucial is good - should I go with the Kingston or the Crucial?

3. On the crucial website they give specs for the RAM compatible with my laptop:
Module Size: 2GB kit (1GBx2)
Package: 200-pin SODIMM Feature: DDR2 PC2-5300 Specs: DDR2 PC2-5300 • CL=5 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-667 • 1.8V • 128Meg x 64 •

now I'm not really tech spec words savy so, what I did was just match up the best I could with amazon and found this:
Kingston - Memory - 1 GB - SO DIMM 200-pin - DDR II - 667 MHz / PC2-5300 - unbuffered

but now I see a second on amazon:
Kingston Technology 1GB 667MHz DDR2 Non-ECC CL5 SODIMM

So, which Kingston should I go for? If not going with the crucial?

I've got one of those pre-made Gateway towers with XP on it and was wondering if the specs were decent enough to upgrade to Windows 7. Here they are:

- Intel Pentium D Processor 820 (2.8ghz, dual core)
- Intel Graphics Accelerator 850
- 250gb hdd
- 1 gig DDR2 RAM

The only thing that makes me question this is the RAM, as Win7 requires a minimum of 1gb RAM. Would the OS run smoothly? It's not going to be a workhorse of a computer or anything.

Thanks in advance.

Hi.  My newly refurbished T430s came, installed, with 4 GB PC3-12800 DDR3 SDRAM 1600MHz SODIMM Memory. I intend to add 8GB RAM to the open slot.   Neither the spec sheet, the system information on the computer, or the memory card itself indicates the correct voltage or CL number.   Based on what is shown at the Crucial.com website, it would seem that the voltage is 1.35 volts and that CL = 11.   Can I rely on this? Crucial is selling 8GB of memory for $85.99 (Part # CT3291562) and the voltage indicated is 1.35.  However, Amazon is selling for $10 less a memory card that claims compatibility with both 1.35 V and 1.5 V.   (Crucial 8GB Single 8GB DDR3 1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) CL11 SODIMM 204-Pin 1.35V/1.5V Notebook Memory CT102464BF160B).   Would this item be compatible even though it claims to be able to be used at both voltages?  Is it safer to just buy the more expensive item from Crucial?

Using T430s on Win 7 Pro

Go to Solution.

A:T430s RAM upgrade - specs and compatibility

T430s supports both 1.35 and 1.5 volts (and you can mix them). Similarly, a wide range of CL timing numbers is supported and the system will choose the fastest timing profile supported by both the RAM and the system. Clock speed up to 2133MHz is supported, but today the extra MHz probably won't make a noticable difference.  If you have 2 sticks with different timing specs, the system will try to choose the fastest timing profile supported by both (and the system). The main thing you need to adhere to when buying RAM for these modern systems is that it needs to be DDR3 or DDR3L SODIMM. This makes choosing memory close to being idiot-proof. However, sometimes the way the BIOS and SODIMM interact during speed selection causes problems and the RAM ends up running slower than it should (or not at all). Looking at reviews on sites like Newegg will let you guage how good/bad a certain model of RAM stick is on a popular brand like Lenovo. You can also use the sticks' model number to check for compatibility on the manufacturer website before purchasing from a retailer. BTW, I got 4GBx2 of Kingston 1.35v (more efficient and quite fast at CL9) RAM for $80 at Newegg a while back. They usually have good RAM prices.

Hello Everyone...

I am wanting to upgrade my antiquated Socket 7 motherboard with something that supports a faster processor, but am looking to keep things decently low priced. My board is maxed out now with a straight P200 processor, 128 meg of EDO RAM, 2.0 Gig HD, CDR and CD reader, DSL Internal Modem, Sound Card, Video Board, and that's about it I guess. I am running Windows 95 on the HD. I would like to keep the HD I have and maybe get a second with 10 gig or so. So my question is...what type of MB and processor can I get that will fit in my current system case? I have 3 ISA slots and 2 PCI, and would need something comparable. My case is for a Compaq Deskpro, if that helps. Let me know if you need dimensions of the MB, I will get them. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi jesusjones,

Compaqs are very difficult, if impossible to upgrade....

The chances of a new motherboard lining up with the current slots you have on the back of your computer are next to nil....just my two centavos....others may have different ideas.....

A:Laptop or desktop for using elgato

Hi Xdelx, Welcome to PCHF!

To be honest both of those systems seem pretty low end. What is your budget for a new computer?

Here are the general Elgato Game Capture HD System Requirements.

? Windows 7, Windows 8 or later
? 2.0 Ghz (or higher) dual core CPU, or 2.0 Ghz (or higher) multi-core i3, i5 or i7 CPU
? Sound card
? 4GB Total Installed RAM (or higher)
? Built-in USB 2.0 port

You should get a computer that is well above the minimum system requirements. You may be able to run the software with either of those systems but not particularly well.

I'm at a loss and don't want to do a reboot and start again.
I have attached a file that may shed some light on this issue.

As my post says I need the specs of both drives, paticularly the type of termination (active, etc). (I am definately NOT a SCSI savvy person)

Heres my problem I have a proprietary graphics computer that uses standard SCSI hard drives up to about 340mb for saving images. It is compatible with most Quantum LPS/Prodrive and Conner drives, especially the 120mb and 270mb versions.
Anyway I got a large number of IBM WDS3160's due to the lack of the latter and they do not work properly.

With the ibm drives I have problems with line noise and detection.

What is the difference (electronically) between an IBM WDS-3160 and a Conner 30100 drive? Is there any way I can get the IBM drive to function similarly to a Conner 30100?

Please note that I am only using one drive in the system.

Thanx for any help

A:Need IBM WDS-3160 specs and Conner cp30100 specs major trouble

I believe I've found a difference between the two drives, it seems that the conner unit automatically enables SCSI parity and the ibm drive makes no mention of it.
Do any of you think this could be the issue? If so how would I enable parity on the ibm drive?

Hey, recently I got myself an Elgato HD60 Pro. Without thinking (stupid me), I bought it and found out I have to put it in an I BELIEVE PCI-E 2 slot. But anyways, the slot is directly underneath the slot my GPU is placed. Now, my GPU is pretty big due to the fan meaning it blocks of the slot for my Elgato, meaning I can't plug both my Elgato and my GPU in at the same time.

My GPU doesn't have USB (I've seen a few PCI risers online but they all need USB as far as I understand). Is there a way to - without getting a new motherboard etc - get them both in (I thought of some extension thing for my GPU so I can place my GPU somewhere without directly putting it in the slot)

Sorry if this is messy written, hopefully it's understandable. I have no experience with hardware whatsoever.

Which Intel P4 Processor and what storage options to use?

Hello everyone. I need to spec out a new testing PC for work, so I'm asking for some opinions. The role this thing will play is a VMware test machine. I will be creating VMware images to run application tests, break/fix, troubleshooting, etc. The operating systems on the images will likely be Server 2003 and XP. So I was thinking of 2 gigs memory, but that may be too conservative. The help I really need is with the CPU and storage. I obviously want a multi core/hyperthreaded CPU, but which one? Hot swapapble RAID would be nice, but what level, and do I need a stand-alone RAID controller or can I use the mobo's?

Thanks all, in advance.

A:Specs I need, give me specs. Opinion Sollicitation for work PC...

The Xeon Line of CPU's usally do very well in a server like setup. Alot of the time you can get the dual CPU motherboards. If you perfer though maybe one of the new Intel Dual Cores will run well, although im not sure, most servers I know of run dual Xeon's.

As for storage, if you have the money, get SCSI contolers and RAID SCSI drives. They are alot quicker.

And 2GB of RAM seems fine.

Whenever I plug in my elgato HD capture device my pc goes to a blue screen. So what happens is I plug my elgato into my computer and open up the elgato software (Game capture HD) And it initializes (I think that is how you spell it) the elgato and 5 seconds later it will crash... I tried to re-install the drivers and the Game capture HD Software but it still does the same thing. Here is a link to a video of my screen when it crashes -

Just today I got an Elgato Game Capture HD so that I could record myself on YouTube playing XBOX 360, XBOX 1 and Retro Game Consoles. I installed the latest version of the Elgato Game Capture software which required me to install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 and also required some sort of update for Windows 7. I also downloaded the latest version of the Elgato Game Capture HD Driver. I then opened up the Elgato Game Capture software only to find that it didn't recognize my Elgato Capture device. I went into the Device Manager only to find that there was a yellow ! under the Elgato Game Capture device. I double clicked it to see what the issue was and it gave me the Code 52 error. I tried typing something in CMD to solve the problem but that didn't help. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver but that didn't help. I know that the Device itself is not broken because when a console is hooked up to it then it would show on my HDMI monitor and Retro consoles are included.
Here are some pictures that explain my situation-

I originally submitted a ticket to Elgato about this issue a few days ago, but was just told that my PC's specs weren't new enough to use this device. The ticket I submitted reads as follows:
"Hi. I recently installed an Elgato 4K60 Pro in my PC (replacing my outdated Hauppauge HDPVR60) to record footage at 4K 60FPS OR 1080p60FPS from my Xbox One X and am currently experiencing some serious issues with playback, making the footage that I record almost unwatchable.
When attempting to record in any of the given resolutions listed in the drop down menu of the 4K Capture Utility (even 720), the preview window always seems to appear choppy and is constantly stuttering. I first thought that this choppy-ness was just part of the preview window and that the footage would sort of 'work itself out' upon actual playback (opening the file in some sort of media player once I had stopped recording) but I was wrong. After opening the file, I found that the stuttering (along with what looked like the footage was being sped up) was still present, as it was in the preview window. I don't have too much experience with Elgato capture devices as this is my first time purchasing one of your products and am curious, am I doing something wrong? I've installed the correct capture software. I've installed the correct drivers for the 4K60 Pro from the official site. I've tried playing around with various setting configurations within the 4K Capture Utility such as changing the video encod... Read more

I have absolutely no Idea how to fix this,
I recorded some GTA V Xbox One, with my Newly purchase Elgato Game Capture HD.
The only settings I changed is the resolution:
I put it at [email protected] (with allowance to use 60fps or whatever that tick box was).
When fast movements are made in game, when I record for example and I jump and fall off a car roof, as shown in this video I made (https://youtu.be/refYFmQPooc). You see very early on in that video what I am talking about.
Any and all helpful replies are very much appreciated!
Please reply asap

When I'm trying to record something in theater mode it looks good and smooth and hd. But when I record it with Elgato it says "deinterlacing" and after that it looks laggy / crappy / not hd. I need to record good Black Ops 2 material with my ps3 / elgato please help me!

I heard that with ps3 you can get the quality better with some other wires, can someone explain how?

If you need anything else like my settings or computer specs please tell me!

I'm using Mac by the way.

Please help!

A:Elgato Game Capture Device PROBLEM with Black Ops 2 [HELPME!]

Sounds like a configuration issue in your recording software/configuration.

There is no reason to deinterlace the video as it's a progressive signal (ie: 1080P) and you want to record it as a progressive signal (1080P).

As far as cables go, that device doesn't appear to offer an input options. Looks like you should be using an HDMI cable. For the most part, HDMI cables either work or they don't.

I made a previous post about a computer I was planning to buy and whether Fallout 3 can run on those specs. But there's been a change of plans. The computer is sold out and outta stock so this is my second choice to buy Costco.

Would this computer with these specs run Fallout 3 at least above medium settings?

HP Pavilion e9280t Desktop
Intel Core i7 Processor
1GB ATI Radeon HD 4650
1TB Hard drive
Windows 7 Home Premium

A:(Different specs) So would this computer with these specs be able to run Fallout 3?

Hi, I am running Windows 98 right now. I would like to upgrade my OS to Windows XP. How can I determine whether or not my computer meets the following requirements? Where do I look for each asterick? What can I do if it doesn't meet them?

Here's What You Need to Use Windows XP Home Edition:

*PC with 300 megahertz (MHz) or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233-MHz minimum required;

* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended

*128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)

*1.5 gigabyte (GB) of available hard disk space.

*Super VGA (800 × 600) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor

Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I currently have a DLink router and well... it doesnt work that well.
So I am looking to buy a new router[[most likely wireless N]] and am curious which would best satisfy my internet needs?
I'm looking for one that will first and foremost support an Xbox 360 with a strong constant internet stream[[for optimal gaming], and can still support a desktop and two laptops.
Right now the only two that I am looking at are the; Belkin Wireless N Router (F5D8233TT4) and the Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router.
Are either of these good? Which is better? Or anything else/better that you would suggest?

A:Router that will meet my needs?

11.n is not a good choice as

there is NO approved standard (as yet) for it
each vendor has their own implementation
and thus you would liekly need to repurchase all network cards from the same vender
Belkin is particularly sensitive in this area!

If there's a game that has the minimum requirements of say "1.9 GHz" (the game doesn't use dual core; such as it is an older game) and I have "Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6320 (1.66GHz,1066FSB) with 4MB cache", do I meet the requirements?

Like if I had 2.0 GHz with one core, I would meet the requirements. But in the case of 2 cores with less GHz, I'm not sure.

if you have a dual core anything. you can pretty mch skip the processor part of the requirement lol

I reinstalled windows me onto my dell. i'm trying to install windows xp onto it now b/c any program I try to copy to the dell it alerts me that my computer doesn't meet the right requirements. I'm not keeping the dell I just want to delete everything off of it and start over again. I don't care to keep one bit of information that is on it right now. Is there a magic key to press? haha yeah right.
I put the Xp cd into the drive and it asked if i wanted to upgrade [recommended] so i said yes then after a couple of minutes it appeared to be doing fine putting the new OS on but then it said that there appeared to be another OS and it couldn't finish the process and it would now shut down. any suggestions?

A:trying to meet system req.

Is the Windows XP installation CD you have an upgrade or the full version ? If its the full version then dont do an update - erase the existing partition on the harddrive, create a new one and install XP from scratch.
