Firefox Extension Question? Windows 8.1

Q: Firefox Extension Question? Windows 8.1

I have Firefox 47. Have not updated to version 48 yet, but I do have updates set to automatic for the browser and extensions.

I get a message that said, "Another program would like to make changes to Firefox settings." The programs were Ad Block Plus and My WOT which I had for years and years. This is the first time I have ever gotten this message. Why most likely did I get this message. It happened when I opened up Firefox.

PS. Update history shows that I was auto-updated to version 47.1 yesterday. I also have Windows 10 on a desktop and was updated to version 48 a few days ago. Was version 48 made mainly for the release of Windows 10's anniversary update?

Preferred Solution: Firefox Extension Question? Windows 8.1

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Firefox Extension Question? Windows 8.1

I don't think Ver 48 is only for Win 10. I'm on Win 10 and still sitting at 47.0.1. Mozila doesn't push updates out to everybody at one time.

To answer you question about that message, I think mozila made changes in security for FireFox in 47. That is when I first started seeing that message.

Well, I know this is an old problem and I overcame it once before but like the ignoramus I sometimes am I failed to bookmark or otherwise save the solution. I know it involves either creating or copying a folder from C\Program Files x86\Mozilla (Mozilla Firefox?), perhaps a plugin folder, and then copying that folder into "Browser" but I can't seem to do it. It may also involve a missing wmp dll file if I recall but I'm not certain. I saw the solution once on one of Interoperability Bridges' webpages but I can't find it now. I've been to the Mozilla Forums to no avail. I've searched this forum and couldn't find any answers. Does anyone have the solution?

Thank you in advance for your time and any assistance provided. If I fail to quickly acknowledge your replies it's because I'm currently in China, 12 hours ahead of Eastern Standard time U.S.A., and when you're awake I'm, in all probability, sleeping.

hi folks, does anyone know a good add-on / extension for ff which 'saves' your open windows/tabs. i tell u why. when i use ccleaner to empty the cache/clear cookies etc. and then restart ff, all my open previous windows are gone. and yes, i have enabled in tools in ff: save last open windows/tabs etc. but no matter what i do it will forget my saved session after using ccleaner.

for example, the brilliant opera never has this issue as u can save multiple different sessions. so, does anyone know of anything similar for ff? thanks all as always.

Ever been annoyed by all those ads and banners on the internet that often take longer to download than everything else on the page? Install Adblock Plus now and get rid of them.

Right-click on a banner and choose "Adblock" from the context menu - the banner won't be downloaded again. Maybe even replace parts of the banner address with star symbols to block similar banners as well. Or you select a filter subscription when Adblock Plus starts up the first time, then even this simple task will usually be unnecessary: the filter subscription will block most advertisements fully automatically.

Here is the issue, I want to listen to online radio at this website . No problem. I click on the "Listen Now" option in the top left under the "WFLA" sign. Not an issue. I want to bookmark this, but the link is only a javascript link. That means, it works if and only if I am at the website, which doesn't make for much of a bookmark because I could simply click the button if I am at the site.

I use Firefox 3.0.8 on Vista.

Any ideas?

So having two browsers is great and all, that being chrome and firefox, and often using chrome i forget certain things on firefox like how insecure it seems to be! It seems that I have found an extension that acts as a virus of some sort. It's called "Relevant Knowledge". Like any self respecting virus you cant just "get rid" of it quite easily as I have found and it wont let me uninstall it from the firefox browser but I can disable it. However using avast I was able to find it, the virus locates itself in the program files folder and is easy to find, but I could not delete some of the components all of the way, even when using avast to locate and delete some of the components. I am not really sure what this thing is capable of doing but I know of leaving things around for to long when they seems "harmless" and next thing you know you have a brick for a hard drive. So basically after this anecdote, how do I delete it?

This addon contains all the best functions of some other dictionary addons for firefox. I have read some comments of users to these addons, so i try to write D4G so that it is easy to use and has useful functions. As you can see in the name of this addon, this dictionary addon is for geeks (i mean computer geeks), because you can add more dictionaries by using javascript. But normal users can still use D4G because there are a lot of high quality default dictionaries.

Some features of D4G:
- Trigger the translation via combination of mouse and keyboard (Ctrl/Alt/Shift + Left/Right mouse)
- Translation result showed at mouse position.
- Open dictionary data : this function based on the same function of OAK dictionary (you can still find it here but no support for FF3) . You can write javascript parser to filter the translation from websites.
- Support pronunciation : it's open too, that means, you can add your own pronunciation by using javascript to parse sound from web.
- Translate word in search bar : type word in search box of firefox and click button END on keyboard to translate.
In these pre-release version i used some icons and code of OAK. I just want to concentrate on the usability and functionality of D4G.
I really wait for feedbacks, so that i can change D4G and release the final version soon.
All bugs, new dictionary parsers and so on please post in this Google Group : http://groups.google.com/group/dictionary4geeks

A:Firefox extension - Hide My Ip

How It Works
When you browse the Internet normally, your computer connects directly to the web site requesting the desired information. With Hide My IP, we relay your request via an anonymous proxy server. This way web sites see the fake IP and not your real IP address. Hide My IP chooses randomly from a list of hundreds of fake IPs from all around the world spanning several countries. Allowing you to have a different IP as often as you choose. There is no need to set proxy settings in Internet Explorer or Firefox as Hide My IP does this all for you automatically.

First, if you use IE, switch to Firefox as it will not give you the protection against a very serious JavaScript vulnerability just breaking.

If you already use Firefox, but not NoScript yet, you need to download and install it now which requires you to also exit and restart Firefox.

Here's why: Tool Turns Any JavaScript-Enabled Browser into a Malicious Drone

A new tool too dangerous to give away can turn any PC - Windows, Mac, Linux - or any device with a browser into a site attacker.

Although the tool is not distributed its only a matter of time before the crackers upon reading the linked post on the Internet make their own tool.

A:If you use Firefox, why you need the NoScript extension

It is a must have extension.

Don't forget to export your NoScript list so your have a copy of all the sites you have given rights so you have them if you ever start over or want to add NoScript to another PC.
You can then just import the list and save lots of time on giving right to the sites you trust again.

I am looking for a firefox extension that allows you to set custom icons for folders on the bookmark toolbar.

I like to maximize the real estate and use custom icons in order to eliminate the need for naming bookmarks. I use favicon picker 2 for this, but it only works for icons (not folders). I have some folders of bookmarks on my bookmark toolbar and I would like to be able to set custom icons for the folders.

Does this make sense? See the attached screen shot for clarity if it doesn't.

I have been searching around the internet and haven't found anything to do this...

Your Firefox extension are kept in your profile folder, located at C:\ Documents and Settings \ "your user name" \ Application Data \ Mozilla \ Firefox \ ProfilesThis folder is not removed when you uninstall Firefox from Add/Remove. This folder retains all of your previous settings, and will re-apply them to your new install, if it's not deleted. That's why, when you install a new version of Firefox, your previous settings, bookmarks, passwords, etc., all remain the same.

Hi all,

Today I want to share with you this extension, which allows you to uninstall an extension and clean its stored preferences, its fingerprints, etc.

Original description:

Usually when you remove an extension, the extension does not clear its created preferences from pref.js. This leads to increasing size of pref.js after a few extension has been tried out. All this extension does is to listen to the uninstall event and look for the missing preferences. You will get the list of the preferences in a dialog like window to decide whether you want to keep these preferences or not.

Two main functionalities:
1. Notify you about the left preferences upon an extension removal
2. Allow you to clean your Firefox profile by removal old unused preferences left by your old extensions. To access this, go to the options page.

Note that the extension works well with extensions built on top of addon sdk, however it might have problem deling with traditional extensions. If you have found these sort of issues please open a bug report in Issues rNeomy/clean-uninstall GitHub

To add to what John has posted....From the web:
SSE2 was introduced into Intel chips with the Pentium 4 in 2001 and AMD processors in 2003. Most computers produced in the last several years are equipped with SSE2. If you are unsure about your particular computer, you can determine SSE2 support by:
Windows: A free download, CPU-Z, is available from CPUID that will indicate if SSE2 is present on your system or not.
OS X: All Intel Macs are equipped with SSE2
Linux: From a terminal, run “cat /proc/cpuinfo”. “sse2” will be listed as one of the “flags” if SSE2 is available.
