YOGA 710-15IKB, after BIOS update screen will not turn on

Q: YOGA 710-15IKB, after BIOS update screen will not turn on

I just recently bought the YOGA 710-15IKB and after I got it which was on 1/27/17, I went to the product support page and downloaded all of the updated drivers and the BIOS update. I did everything as it was supposed to be done and now out of nowhere the Screen will not turn on, I can turn it on, the keyboard lights up, it seems to charge just fine but the screen just stays black, anybody have any ideas on how to possibly troubleshoot this, or what could have caused this?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I used my laptop last night just fine and plugged it into the power adapter all day while I was at work.  Came home and opened the laptop but the screen won?t turn on.  The light by the power button was on and the light by the AC plug is on.  I held the power button 15 seconds to turn off the laptop and then clicked the power button to turn it back on, however the fan doesn?t turn on nor does the screen.  Please help!

I got a notice on my laptop saying there was a critical update, so I clicked ok go ahead with it. Now that this problem has occurred and I've been hunting for a solution I see that people generally warn against doing BIOS updates. Unfortunately I didn't know about that and was just naively letting the laptop go ahead with whatever updates it wanted. Too late now. My laptop shut itself down like it was going to restart, when I looked back over ten minutes later it was still sitting with a black screen and LED light on. Unresponsive to anything. It's been two hours now.  To make matter worse, I'm trying to contact Lenovo customer support and keep getting a "document not found" page error when I try to get to the contact information on Lenovo's website. This forum is apparently the only thing I can access. So.. any advice? I'm in a complete panic here as I heavily depend on that laptop for a number of things and having it not work puts me in a really bad situation.

Hi, so alot of us gamers have complained about power thorttling on this notebook. There was a bios released on November 15th 2018 but this did not fix the throttling. Are we ever going to see a proper bios? This laptop has so much potential as with intel xtu we can manually set power limits but the bios sometimes overwrites it.

The yoga is warm on the backside so it must be running. But I can't restart when I longpress the power button and the battery is inside so i can't put it out.I also installed some other drivers with the Lenovo update tool and maybe windows did also update.what could I do to make everything running again? Did I brick the BIOS?

I have been suffering the, what seems common, screen flicker issue with my yoga 500 when on battery. After reading through some threads i discovered the problem was either, Drivers or Bios. After trying both drivers from lenovo themselves, and the latest from intel/nvidia the problem still remained.i then tried updating the bios. After windows shut down, the Phoenix bios updater stated a message that the bios had been sucessfully updated. The laptop then restarted and no longer posts or goes into windows. The Nova button also has no function and just causes the keyboard to illuminate and the fan to spins for 10 seconds before stopping.(Same as power button)Any advice?

After i upgraded to BIOS 2XCN30WW(V2.05) dated 2017/06/21 i started to experience lags and temporary freezes (for 20/30 seconds and it would recover) while using windows 10 creators edition. The lag/freeze can be described as a period of time every 10 minutes or so in which the computer stops responding to keyboard input and eventually to mouse movements, if you had a youtube video or audio playing in the background it starts coming out distorted, everything makes you think there is something hogging the CPU or RAM, it recovers itself after 20 or 30 seconds, sometimes less than that.I first blamed Slack Client but quickly found that it didn't have anything to do. It didn't seem related to load as the CPU/RAM usage in Task Manager remained low during these periods.I then blamed a recent Windows Update patch , which i rolled back prompty without noticing any changes. My last option and what ultimately resolved the issue is the rolling back the BIOS upgrade that i applied at about the same time of the windows patch.I enabled the Allow Back-Flash option in BIOS setup and rolled back to version 2XCN29WW, and the problem dissapeared for good, and just to confirm that the BIOS was to blame after a few days of happy computing i decided to give the new BIOS another try and TADAH! soon after the update the freeze/lags started again.I just wanted to share this with you guys in hopes that if you are having similar issues you can resolve them using this message. And since Lenovo doesn't seem... Hey! Got myself a brand new Yoga 910 and installed the latest BIOS update to fix the fan noise issue: http://support.lenovo.com/se/sv/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-910-13ikb/downloads/d... However, immediately after installing the update, the screen started having graphical glitching issues with artifacts flickering on the screen all the time. For example, if I'm on my desktop, I have the Trashcan and Spotify icon at the top of my desktop, and I will see "ghosts" of these icons flickering over the lower half of the screen. I tried updating the graphics driver to the latest version but it didn't help: http://support.lenovo.com/se/sv/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-910-13ikb/downloads/D... The graphical artifacts that flicker on the screen seem to be based on what content I have on the screen currently. The computer was fine when I got it. My exact process has been: Getting the computer, everything is fineRunning Windows UpdateUsing the computer, everything is fineDownloading and installing latest BIOS updateNoticing flickering which never was there before the BIOS updateRestarting computerInstalling Intel DriverRestarting Computer But it's still flickering all the time. Needless to say this makes the laptop unusable.

After applying the update 7QCN41WW from Lenovo Vantage advice, the touch screen seem dead now. I can see the touch screen in the list of devices and followed all the guides possible on this forum like disabling/enabling the device, removing and rebooting. I even enabled the downgrade in BIOS and flashed the previos BIOS version 7QCN38WW (fortunately, all the installed versions are stored on C:\BIOS), but no luck! It works with the pen, but not with fingers. Anything else I can try? Has anyone had any issues with 'screen door' on their 730 15IKB? I can see the spaces between the pixels quite clearly on certain colors - blues, reds, oranges. White and Black have no noticable lines. But most colors have some level of this showing up. Blues are the worst, producing a corodory effect. I am sitting at arms length from the screen and it is noticeable enough to bother me. If I put myself ~5 ft away the screen has blurred enough that the lines are not noticeable.  1920x1080 screen (set at native resolution)Scaling set to 100% but increasing to 125% does not impact the size / spacing of the lines.Fix Scaling does nothing as wellIntel UHD 620 - Driver ver. 24.20.100.6344Power settings are all set to max performanceConservation mode does not impactI have undervolted my cpu however the issue was present before that It seems like the effect is greatly minimized when playing games. Is this normal?

It has come to my attention that the graphics drivers on my lenovo yoga 720 are out of date. A bit of background info, I have an Intel HD Graphics 630 graphics card, with windows 10 x64. The lenovo website states that the graphics drivers you are supposed to use on your computer are supposed to be downloaded from the manufacturer that made your computer's graphics card. Since I have an intel graphics card, I attempted to download the most recent graphics driver avaiable on the intel website, the Widnows 10 DCH drivers. The problem is that I always recieve this error message after trying to install it: "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer." Considering my computer is telling me I need to recieve the driver from Lenovo, and the Lenovo website is telling me I need to get the driver from Intel, I am not exactly sure how I am supposed to resolve this problem. It is worth nothing that intel does not provide the .zip file for the graphics driver, which means the method of manually uploading the drivers does not work anymore. Can anyone help me figure out how to bypass this error message/get the driver from lenovo themselves?

Hello, I bought a V130-15IKB (81HNA00CGE) a few days ago. It's a model with a 128GB NVME SSD and preinstalled with FreeDOS - perfect for a Debian Linux Laptop. One important reason to buy was the seller's specification which said a second SATA drive (SSD or HDD) could be added while keeping NVME and DVD-RW. As I'm using other Lenovo products (Thinkpad T530, ThinkCentre M83z), I expected good documentation. So I was surprised to find out, that it is not documented in the manuel nor as a "Parts Removal and Replacement Video". So my first question:Is it possible to add a 2nd SATA-Drive - SSD or HDD? When I installed Debian Linux to the Notebook, I had to deal with the UEFI-Bios. I was hoping for a password securable boot menu, but I wasn't able to configure this separatly. Only activating a poweron-password did the job. So I hoped a bios update could help. But I realized, only Win10-based BIOS-Updates are provided. This leads me to my second question:Is there any way to update my BIOS without using Win10? Thanks for your (even partly) answers! Regards

Hi all,First post!  My Dad's Lenovo laptop goes to a black screen when starting up, so is unusable.I haven't seen it in the flesh yet but have started to research things for him and have found that 'black screen' shows up quite a lot for Windows 10 and Lenovo PCs! We were so impressed with my Dad's PC I've ended up with the same model myself:Lenovo YOGA 500 Convertible Laptop, Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 15.6" Touch Screen. Also labelled as: Yoga 500-15IBD Laptop (ideapad)  I see some people mentioning hardware failures and others device driver problems with the graphic card etc. but haven't read a definite cause/fix for this so far. I've just found this recent critical BIOS update for this PC which mentions the black screen problem:Software name: BDCN63WW Version 63[Important updates] Fix Win 10 lid close black screen issue.http://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Yoga-Series/yoga-500-15ibd/downloads/D...I haven't seen this mentioned in the forums? Has anyone else used this?If the PC always boots to a black screen I'll obviously have trouble installing this! I'm hoping that it will boot in Safe Mode or I'm going to have some trouble installing it?! I don't know whether to install the BIOS update on my own machine which is running fine - I think I'll wait until I see my Dad's laptop first which will be in a few weeks. Has anyone had any experience of this BIOS update or other comments on this?Thanks. &nb... I'm still wondering about this... I've just updated the Lenovo Companion after seeing it mentioned in another thread. It looks like this s/w is supposed to scan the PC and recommend Lenovo updates - critical and nice to have ones. Initially the Companion was showing a critical update for Lenovo SHAREit and a recommended one for my BIOS. It says I'm currently on BDCN28WW and offered something like v61 and not the 63 I mentioned in my first post? After letting it update SHAREit and re-scanning the BIOS update is no longer being offered and still shows me on v28 ??? I'm not sure I trust this 'Companion' app!My laptop seems to be running fine so I don't want to break it updating the BIOS if it's not required. For all I know my Dad's broken one may be broken because it upgraded?! Does anyone else use/trust the Companion app?And has anyone else seen it change it's mind on recommended BIOS updates? Thanks.

Hi! New Yoga owner here. In tablet mode, the on screen keyboard does not automatically pop up when touching a text box. I saw that there was a issue with chrome, but for all text boxes I have to manually open and close the keyboard. Now, when I first started up the laptop it was working. The only things I have done since unboxing is install chrome, firefox and malwarebytes; uninstall the office trials and mcafee trial; and run the updates (the only critical one being a bios firmware update). Any ideas on how to fix this? I have looked through the settings to no avail. Am I missing something? A driver may be?  Thanks!
