HDMI-out stopped working, Win x64, Radeon HD 3200

Q: HDMI-out stopped working, Win x64, Radeon HD 3200

Up until the other day, I've been using my MSI Wind u230 netbook / Radeon HD 3200 to output to my monitor (Acer S243HL - only has 1x DVI and 2x HDMI inputs) and then occasionally swap to a Westinghouse 32" TV.

The other day: I was using my monitor then swapped to the tv, and then returned to my room to connect to the monitor and it just won't work. (To note, I've been using Win key + P to set projector only and to disconnect projector before unplugging the HDMI cable.)

The netbook screen will turn itself off (as if it detects the HDMI-out) but the screen or TV will just show "No signal."

I tried a shorter HDMI cable, tried the other input on the monitor, still nothing. Strangely enough, checking the displays in Catalyst or the Screen Resolution properties, it can detect both the TV and the monitor. There's just no signal coming out.

Even stranger: trying to connect another laptop to the monitor (which used to work) displays "No signal" too.

Now I'm confused. Could it be a software issue? Could I have broken an HDMI port somewhere that somehow broke the other two HDMI cables in turn? Help?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Does the same HDMI input on the TV function properly if you connect, say a gaming console to that port, or a dvd player to that port?

Hello,
I am hoping to find some guidance on how to view the contents of my laptop on my television. It seems straightforward, but I can not seem to get it to work. I have a Panasonic TH50PX80U (720p) plasma television and HP Pavilion dv 7-1135nr laptop with an ATI Radeon hd 3200 graphics card and the Catalyst Control Center 8.4 software and drivers. I am running on Vista Home Premium 64 bit edition. My TV does not have a PC input, so I am trying to connect via the HDMI port. I have tried to start the laptop with the HDMI cable plugged in and the TV on the HDMI component. I have tried hot plugging the HDMI cable. I have tried the Fn+F4. I have tried extending my monitor in the display settings. I have tried looking up my HDMI port in the BIOS (I did not find it). I am curious as to whether this is even possible with my TV. I am at a loss; if anyone has any information that would help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A:ATI Radeon hd 3200 HDMI problems

I know you state you cannot find HDMI in the bios; however, my Asus desktop board (integrated HD3200) shows the hdmi as DisplayPort Config (Enable/Disable) Disable is default. It also states in the book that surroundview has to be enabled under the aperature setting. I have never tested these as I installed add-on card (nvidia 8800) for my build.

Not sure this helps but at least a little more info.

I have AMD Phenom X4 desktop running Vista 64 bit with 4GB Ram.
The Graphics Card is ATI Radeon HD 3200 with 780G chipset.
The monitor is ASUS 23.6" HD ready monitor with HDMI input.
The Card also has HDMI output but when i connect the monitor with HDMI cable the resolution suffers, images are blurred & the screen size reduces. I have black borders on all 4 sides. The only good thing is color intensity increases.
The driver s/w version is 8.531.0.0
The monitor works well in VGA mode & tested it with other HDMI inputs - it works well there.
Just the HDMI output from PC has problems

Any suggestions as to how i can get a true HDMI video & full screen?

A:Re : HDMI Video problems With ATI Radeon HD 3200

the radeon 3200 is an integrated video solution. how much ram is set aside for the video right now? you should have the option in bios to allocate more ram and if so, allocate 512mb or as much as you can. secondly, download the latest software drivers from amd: Drivers & Tools | GAME.AMD.COM

Hi,

I have been building media centers (since XP MCE) for about a year now. Last month finally purchased my first big LCD TV. Last week, I bought an AV HDMI receiver (Pioneer VSX-520-K) and have spent the last week trying to finalize chaining all the components together into the best possible config. I am at 15m from the top of the mountain, but stuck there.
Bit of history...had an NVIDIA Geforce 7300 (DVI/VGA/Svideo) in the Mobo before, and this card was capable of using the full resolution of the TV, through VGA. Activating this PCIex card in the BIOS disabled my onboard ATI Radeon audio/video output. When I bought the AV HDMI receiver, I wanted to make use of the HDMI outbound sound, so took out the NVIDIA and activated the ATI HDMI onboard.
So config at that point is
Mobo send Audio/Video to Samsung TV over HDMI, sound is forwarded by the TV via fibre-optic cable into the Pioneer receiver.
Woohoo! Great sound - 5.1 in my speakers...but at first I noticed that the image quality was not as good as with the NVIDIA VGA, and them I noticed the underscan, 1inch black border lost across all sides.

In a lower res the underscan is gone, but the icons and edges are less clear. I know the TV can do better in its recommended res.

I did a clean W7 install to start with a clean system.
I think I have installed the correct ATI radeon drivers and CCC versions. Found lots of forums on the internet about this. An overview of what I already tried without luck...

Hi all,

Just to let you know my problem is solved.
The way to do it was to use a freeware tool called "Driver Sweeper". ATI apparently is poor on the garbage-collect capabilities when removing drivers during CCC un-install.
I ran Driver Sweeper and removed all drivers and CCC stuff. After reboot, graphics seemed horrible, but after re-installing the latest 10_11 ATI suite all was fine.

Now got a crystalclear screen at 1920*1080 @ 60Hz

Hi. I have a HP Pavilion dv4 with AMD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 graphic controller. When I installed Win 10, I was able to use the HDMI port to watch movies in my TV. Some time ago, the HDMI output didn't work anymore. I guess some Win 10 update broke the driver or something similar. I updated Win 10, I updated the controller (it says I have last version) and I checked Windows and AMD web pages without finding any useful help. Any further idea?

A:HDMI has stopped working

Clive235 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!Anytime someone comes here running Win10 and complains about something suddenly not working, I immediately suspect Windows Driver updates.Unfortunately, Win10 automatically forces driver updates on all of us, without our knowledge, and without our permission -- and when this happens, a working PC is suddenly "broken".  This might have happened to you.You need to go into Settings, Update & Security --> Windows Update. Then, choose Advanced Options --> History to see when updates were last applied.  If you see any that include device drivers, those could be the problem. So, if you can, you should see if you can rollback the drivers that are causing the problem.  You do this by going into Device Manager, seeing if the appropriate device is still listed, and if so, trying to rollback the last driver update. And if that fixes the problem, then consider disabling future driver updates using the information in the link:  http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/48277-driver-updates-windows-update-enable-disable-windows-10-a.h...Good Luck========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.---------------------------------------------------------------If my posts helped you, please click the Thumbs-Up symbol on my post to say thanks. If my posts solved your problem please click "Accept As Solution".========================... A:HDMI out stopped working

You could do a restore to before the update. This ill remove the updates and you can find out if its due to that.

I'd try a second hdmi cable to eliminate the cable. Being that long it may have been damaged.

3rd, update your video drivers.

Hope something easy fixes it.

Hi. A few weeks ago my Z70-80's HDMI port randomly stopped working, no intermittence, no warning, just stopped. It was fine in the morning, working as intended. I then had to run some errands so I shut my laptop down. I came back a few hours later tried to project to second screen but nothing. Thinking it was software and/or driver related I've tried everything from rolling back windows 10 to updating GPU drivers, even the chipset got an update. Can a HDMI port just randomly stop working like that? VGA out is fine, just not the HDMI. If anyone has any ideas I might be able to try.... Thanks all.

My Acer ES1-111M HDMI has stopped working. It was working perfect until about a week ago. I believe it's due to a resent Windows 10 update. HDMI doesn't show anywhere in Device Manager. When I plug into my TV my TV detects a HDMI device has been connected but just flashes No Signal. I have tried every driver available including the test drivers from Intel.Almost 2 years ago I bought this to replace my HP laptop that had the exact same problem. When this happened on this Acer notebook I connected my HP to the TV Via the VGA/RGB cable. Now this Is where it gets weird. I got the HP connected and working with the RGB cable and out of curiosity I connected the HDMI cable to the HP and it made that happy noise saying it found the new device and for some reason started working. Since, I have read on the web that when this happens connecting the VGA cable first then the HDMI cable will force the PC to detect a non working port on the HDMI. Or possibly over the 2 years I've had this HP it received an update that restored the HDMI functionality. Problem is I can't test that theory on this ES1-111M because it only has a single HDMI output. I see this problem all over the web and wonder how many people don,t even know there HDMI port is dead because they never use it.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A305-S6898 laptop with Windows Vista (64 bit). For two years, I have watched movies on my TV via the HDMI connection. Recently, this stopped working (I had not installed anything new or updated the computer). The HDMI cable is definitely still good. My laptop could not connect with the external display. I tried everything I could think of including making sure the drivers were up to date (they were) and the handy reboot method. Nothing worked until I went into the device manager, right clicked on the graphics card and uninstalled and reinstalled it. Using this method, I got it to connect again for a couple of days, though I had to uninstall and reinstall every time to make it work. This has stopped working now too though. I am at a loss. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

PC tower with Windows 7

PS3 Console

For months all three worked and I could switch back and forth without issue.

All of the sudden only the PC tower displays.

The PC tower is the only thing that displays on any port with any cable. The PS3 and TV give no display.

I searched many threads with similar titles but could not find a usable answer. I hope this post will have better luck.
My PC is connected from the graphics card to a Full HD TV via HDMI. This worked beautifully for 7 months with great video and audio via HDMI. Unfortunately it stopped working. The TV's HDMI ports and the cables work fine with other devices. On the PC I installed a new motherboard and reinstalled Windows. This is all working fine on a friend's display, including the DP connection from the graphics card. Sadly, however, the PC graphics card to TV HDMI connection is still not producing any picture or sound; not even the BIOS screen. The TV recognizes when the cable is attached (no cable vs. no signal messages) but no picture or sound results.

Some specs:
TV: Samsung UE32EH6030W
PC's OS Windows7 Pro - 74bit
Graphics card 1GB MSI Radeon HD 7770
Motherboard Asus H61MC
Processor Intel Pentium G850, Socket 1155, Dual Core, 2.90GHz

A:PC to Full HD TV via HDMI Stopped Working

I'm confused, did you replace the motherboard or the graphics card? If you are using a dedicated graphics card the motherboard would have little to nothing to do with outputting HDMI when a dedicated graphics card is installed. Does the second monitor show up in the AMD Catalyst Software? And even though the HDMI cable appears to work with another device, have you tried another HDMI cable?

Hi,

I'm sorry, I'm somewhat technologically impaired. I've been connecting my tv to my laptop via HDMI cable for several years and it's always worked fine. Today when I tried, the screens just turned back. My TV stopped saying no signal as if it recognized the computer, and the computer screen went black as if it were switching to the TV, but neither of them actually worked. I tried to go into my display settings to connect to a projector which I have had to select in the past, but it says no additional display was detected. When I tried to tell it to do it anyway, the laptop screen started turning on and off every few seconds so it was black, then back to my desktop, then black again.

The really wonky part is that when I tried starting up the computer with the HDMI cable already attached, it showed the windows startup and password screens on the TV as if it were working properly--but as soon as it loaded up the desktop it started turning the screen on and off again until I disconnected the HDMI.

I haven't changed any settings on my computer recently--the only new thing I've installed are some games off Steam. Something crazy's going on with my computer that has never happened before, could someone please help?

-Shauna

Aside from that, try manually updating or reinstalling the laptop video drivers. The drivers should be available from the laptop manufacturers website (and are the only recommended drivers which should be used).

Is there anything blocking the HDMI ports on the computer and the monitor? you may want to clean them with compressed air.

If that doesn't help try connecting the laptop to another monitor or TV via HDMI so you can determine if it is the HDMI on the computer or the monitor.

Hi, I use HDMI output to connect to my TV a lot. One day I was using it without issue, disconnected the cable to move the laptop and when I reconnected it didn't work. I can still connect to a projector using VGA and I know the TV and HDMI cable are still good because they both work with my Windows 8 laptop and bluray player.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

A:HDMI out suddenly stopped working. Don't know how to troubleshoot.

Do some quick checks on the cable. First you can think about if you have bent the cable in any weard ways. If so that could have damaged the cable. You are NEVER supposed to fold a cable as it can break the small cables inside of it.

Secoundly have a look at the pin's on each side of the cable, Are any of them bent? If so this could be the cause.

sorry for starting a new thread but i have searched through so many and still not found a fix for my issue

I was watching a movie and sound worked perfectly fell asleep woke up the next morning and no sound through my tv connected via gainward gtx550ti HDMI port it still shows in playback devices and when i test it still shows sound is playing but nothing comes out of the speakers. i have tried every possible thing i can think of to fix it system recovery, update drivers, uninstall and re-installing drivers, using both hdmi cable and tv with a different device and using speakers with built in sound card so im thinking its my graphics card that has a problem but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated

A:HDMI sound randomly stopped working

The HDMI is generated by the video card. If the HDMI is set as the default audio playback device and there is still no audio, its most likey a problem in the video card.

One thing you haven't tried, reseating the video card. Its a long shot but give it a try. Power off the PC before reseating (unplugging and plugging back in).

I've had the Win 7 laptop for a few years, and it's worked faultlessly.
Now the HDMI port no longer works and seems completely dead, VGA port is ok. I've tried several HDMI cables and monitors / projectors. The laptop used to switch the screen off as soon as I plugged in a projector or monitor, that no longer happens, so it's not detecting the monitor or projector at all.
I've been trying to update the graphics drivers without success, I've tried two things:-
1. Went to Graphics device in Device Manager and pressed 'Update Driver', it told me my driver was up-to-date (even though its dated 2011)
2. I went to the Dell driver download page and downloaded the most recent Intel (R) Graphics Family driver (August 2012), but this unzipped to a GUI application that crashed.
So I'm a bit stuck, any help appreciated, thanks
Bernie

I have Lenovo Z70-80 laptop which had BIOS version ABCN32WW. I've decided to upgrade BIOS to the latest version (ABCN96WW) and the upgrade procedure went without problems. However, as soon as the restarted I've noticed it doesn't output anything on my external monitor connected via HDMI until it boots to Windows after which I get the picture on the monitor. I've tried to downgrade BIOS version to the oldest available version (ABCN73WW) but I still don't get HDMI output. At this point I'd just like to downgrade to the original BIOS version ABCN32WW but I can't find any downloadable file to do so and currently I'm stuck with no HDMI output until laptop gets booted to Windows which is really frustrating. Any help or suggestion would be highly appreciated.

HDMI port stopped working about a year ago. It had always worked on Windows 7 64-bit.  Also it worked on Windows 10 64-bit for quite some time.  I have HP Compaq PC with 3 TB HD with 2 new flat screen monitors each able to run as VGA or the
other way.  Had both monitors working fine.  Tried switching monitors, and everything else.  Plugged in, etc....,
I would like to simply download the correct drivers for the HDMI port, at leas for the monitor and graphics, install correctly, anin compatibility mode, I assume, and all I ask is that you please not lie to me and say I have to buy something. I'd appreciate
your expert help.  Everything works...need to install correct drivers in compatibility mode.  The correct ones.  In the correct places and know what to do if there is no "HD video, audio, and game controller" section, for example,
or "Graphics" section in device manager.

Thanx, Miguel

Hi, I just got a new HP Envy x 360 in July 2016 and a new HP monitor 27es Display in mid-August.  It was connecting to the monitor by using HDMI fine till last week.  From a week ago (around Labor day), it stopped recognizing the monitor.I have an old HP laptop, and it is fine connecting to the the monitor by VGA.  So, it is not the monitor's issue.I remember I did the recommended HP update around the same time.  I am suspecting that update caused the issue with HDMI.  Can anyone help?  Thanks.

Hey,

Recently, when connecting my desktop PC to my TV over HDMI, all it shows is 'no signal'. It was working fine before then and I know it isn't the TV or the HDMI cable through testing. Has anyone got any ideas what's happened and how to fix this?

P.S: I would write some PC specs but I would need to be able to use a screen for my computer to see them so...

After updating the BIOS to the latest June version, the HDMI output just stopped working. I tried connecting the cable to the display via DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, and it works, so that problem is not in my cable and not in my display. Trying to connect the HDMI to the display and using Picture in Picture I can see that the display doesn't detect any HDMI displays.  Resetting the CMOS doesn't help. Any ideas?

I built a new computer a few months ago which includes an ATI Radeon HD 5750 graphics card. Up until now I've had no issues with it, until today when I booted it up to find that it wouldn't display on my monitor, the monitor displayed the "no signal" message that it usually shows when I have nothing plugged in. I then turned it off, unplugged and replugged the vga cable and it booted up fine, or so I thought.

When it got past the windows 7 loading screen, the monitor displayed the "no signal" message again. It now does this every time I start it up, I was able to boot in safe mode and uninstall the ati radeon driver which caused it to boot up fine, but obviously it was using the standard microsoft vga driver which meant it looked awful. I reinstalled the ATI driver, rebooted and it went back to just displaying "no signal".

I don't understand why this has happened as it worked fine yesterday and to my knowledge I haven't changed anything that would make it do this, the only thing I've done since then is install netbeans, but I don't see how that would cause this.
If anyone could shed any light onto my problem I would greatly appreciate it as I have no idea what to do. Thanks.

Sam

Yoga 500-14IBD i5-5200U CPU @ 2.20GHz Usually I have/had a 24'' monitor connected to it with HDMI cable, sometimes I connected it to Sony Bravia 47'' TV. Everything was fine for some time but it STOPPED WORKING. Yesterday during watching a movie TV screen was flickering time to time, really rare and randomly. Suddenly, today it just stopped working, 24'' monitor got black and from then none of the screens is recognized when connected to hdmi. Wind+P is as extended mode.Is it possible that my motherboard HDMI slot got damaged? or maybe its a Intel HD 5500 damaged? What's strange is when I try to install old drivers: win64_154028.4501 im getting an error.  What might have happened to my Yoga? Is there a way to fix it or do I have to just buy new(used) motherboard? thanks
