How to completely remove AMD (ATI) Applications

Q: How to completely remove AMD (ATI) Applications

I have replaced an ATI Radeon video card with an NVIDIA.

I have uninstalled the Catalyst Control Center (only thing listed in the uninstall programs). After reboot I'm still getting warning about the Catalyst Control Center not being able to start and another AMD warning.

I ran CCCleaner and removed all the AMD/ATI registry entries it found, rebooted but still getting the warning.

Short of manually editing the registry to get rid of what is left, and also removing any left over files, is there another "cleaner" program that will get rid of what is left? There is nothing in Startup. If I Right click on the desktop the Catalyst Control Center is still in the dropdown menu.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When certain programs are run, or when i get to a certain point in a game, or sometimes at random times in certain games, my PC will just freeze. All sound stops, the lights on my keyboard stop animating, and nothing is responsive. The only way out of
this is to reboot. After checking the event log all the errors have been the same. After a quick test, an extension of Autodesk Inventor 2017 called mesh enabler crashes the pc when i click on the part inside autodesk. I timed it. From clicking on the part
at 23:37 which froze the pc, until 23:38 where i hard rebooted the pc. The event log gave the time stamp of 23:39, and that was when i was brought to my desktop.

Good Evening,

I must say, I have the great pleasure of getting rid of AOL within the next couple of days. I'm moving on to DSL with another company, and it's been my experience that AOL just doesn't seem to go away!
I can obviously "un-install" it, but it seems to keep tons of files and folders in my computer anyway.
What is the BEST way to insure that I'm able to remove all components, file, folders, etc... because I don't want anything bogging down my computer that doesn't have to. (It's slow enough already)
Thanks!!!

Is it safe to permanently remove Internet Explorer? I use Firefox, and don't want IE hanging around, because my friends always automatically use it, and I'm worried about a virus entering the network and destroying my computers and work. A:Ok To Completely Remove Ie?

You shouldn't remove IE completely. It is an integral part of the operating system and if you remove it some windows components won't function anymore (like automatic updates).

Not sure if this is the correct area to post. I want to get rid of all traces of AVG Free. I will be installing KIS 2009+a member here at BC said to also go into system 32 files, registry entries, etc. I am more of a novice user+don't understand all this.
When I've gone to the AVG forum,it's pretty much all tech speak,so that's no help. I'm hoping someone here can help me with this issue.
Thank you

A:Completely remove AVG

It appears that tech support for AVG is for paid subscriptions only. What can members here at BC tell me in regards to removing all traces of AVG Free(latest version) even after going to my add/remove programs section?

Haven't a clue how to look in system 32 files, nor the registry. I'm not supposed to mess with my registry anyway.

Please advise?

Hi,

Sometime in the past month a change to my system has resulted in me being unable to add or remove a lot of applications. I first noticed the issue when trying to install Quicktime 7 - the installation just hung when the installshield started. Since then I have tried to uninstall the following applications unsuccessfully;

Mind Manager X5 Trial
Google Earth
Google Desktop Search

All of these uninstall processes get so far before just hanging unrecoverably. I have also installed Norton Internet Security in the past month. I have tried to install and uninstall applications when the firewall and antivirus are disabled but I still have the same problems.

I have a suspicion there is a problem with installshield but I do not understand how an installshield issue could affect multiple programs.

Does anybody have any idea what may be wrong? I do not know where to start to fix this issue so I would appreciate any advice.

I am running Win XP.

Kind regards, Simon

A:Cannot add or remove many applications

Further issues - I've just tried to load system restore but the application will not start. This may mean the problem is with Win XP and not the applications.

Can anyone offer any advice? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ripped two CDs to WMP music library.
Then dragged songs across to the right into the create new playlist section from those two ripped CDs.
Burned the new playlist to blank CD-RW and deleted the dragged songs from the create new playlist section.
Attempted ripping burned CD-RW to WMP music library but it doesn't appear anywhere as far as I can tell.
Then tried deleting ripped CDs from WMP music library and computer using right-click and drag methods - to no avail.

May have done something else in between, can't recall.

I now have the two CDs ripped to WMP music library not playing at all (file error symbol shows).
Interestingly, the two CDs don't come up with their album artwork but do somehow remain - seemingly blocking the CD-RW burn.
So, how do I completely delete the two ripped CDs from my WMP music library and computer so I can burn the CD-RW in.

A:WMP how to completely remove ripped CDs

Sorry for the late reply. Just a guess here.... did the ripped discs end up in your "Music" or "My Music" folder/library? Try deleting from there maybe. Also check your CD burner drive for "files waiting to be written" and delete them from there if found

whiteowl Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I read your post and it seems that what you're trying to do is revert back to Win8.1 after doing the Upgrade to Win10, right? If that's the case then, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but, unfortunately, the Win10 GoBack function is know to be unreliable and when it fails, it can leave machines in a corrupted state -- which appears to be what happened to yours. While Microsoft tells you that there is no risk in the Win10 Upgrade, because they let you believe that you can always revert back to your original OS and setup within 30 days, the ugly faction of the matter is that the Win10 GoBack function has proven to be unreliable -- and when it fails, it can leave machines in a corrupted state -- which doesn't always happen, but it does happen often enough to be a problem and you won't get any warning in advance that it is going to trash your PC!The Win10 Upgrade is know, in some cases, to corrupt the Recovery partition stored there by the OEM that built the original machine.  This pretty much guarantees that no HP Recovery is going to work. What will work is restoring your machine to its original factory condition using HP Recovery Media. This is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities. Hello,

First, thank you in advance for reading this and attempting to help.

The situation is that I seem to have gotten the Vundo malware, I began getting popups and (because I was running Spybot, it would keep asking if I wanted to allow/deny changes - I think I picked deny for everything, though I can not be sure). I looked through some guides online and ran some of the programs that your site (and other sites suggested). I ran Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware, SUPERAntiSpyware, Lavasoft Ad-Aware, Spybot - Search & Destroy, and finally Combofix. I think everything went pretty smoothly - after running the programs, I stopped getting the popups. However, whenever I restart my computer, two RUNDLL error boxes would come up, one of which is "Error loading c:\windows\system32\lekegafu.dll The specified module could not be found." Then I tried to use HijackThis to fix the problem. I clicked on both listings (both were O4) and tried to fix the problem. I was able to fix "O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [lehipofabu] Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\yivoboki.dll",s" because it no longer comes up when I restart. However, as you will see from the DDS file, lekegafu.dll continues to try to load - I tried deleting from the registry, using regedit and msconfig, but neither has worked. I'd appreciate any help you can give. Also, I'd love to know how I can clean up the computer and remove other DLLs that were stopped by ... Read more

Hi, If you've already uninstalled McAfee from its entry in Programs and Features, try downloading the McAfee Removal Tool on the following link and save it to your Downloads folder. http://us.mcafee.com/apps/supporttools/mcpr/mcpr.asp When downloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click the tool and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the process. When this has completed, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load before checking if Defender will now run. Regards, DP-K

Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:

At the top of your post, please click on the "Watch thread" button and make sure to check Watch this thread...and receive email notifications. This will send an email to you as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing me to solve your problem faster.
Please do not install any new software during the cleaning process other than the tools I provide for you. This can hinder the cleaning process. Please do not perform System Restore or any other restore.
Instructions I give to you are very simple and made for complete beginner to follow. That's why you need to read through my instructions carefully and completely before executing them.
Please do not run any tools other than the ones I ask you to, when I ask you to. Some of these tools can be very dangerous if used improperly. Also, if you use a tool that I have not requested you use, it can cause false positives, thereby delaying the complete cleaning of your machine.

All tools we use here are completely clean and do not contain any malware. If your antivirus detects them as malicious, please disable your antivirus and then continue.
If during the process you run across anything that is not in my instructions, please stop and ask. If any tool is running too much time (few hours), please stop and inform me.

I have disabled system restore and have done numerous online and software (AVG) virus scans - after all of that Symantec online scan still tells me there is evidence of Adware.Websearch and Adware.Purityscan. A:How do I completely remove startsearcher

The standard starting point would be to download, update and run a full scan with Malwarebytes and HitMan Pro. I would run MBAM first, followed by HMP.

Hi!

I am new here and I have a problem. I have recently installed Cabal Online and after playing it I noticed something was not right. After trying to find a solution I have decided to uninstall the game and forget about it but then I found out on the internet that GameGuard, which this game uses, is a rootkit and thus a threat to my and my computer's security. I read you have to manually remove it from the computer so I followed some instructions. I deleted the GameGuard folder after uninstalling the game and I also found npptnt2.dll and nppt9x.vxd files but I can't find the place in registry all those people on the internet mentioned. Is it possible that there is nothing left of GameGuard? How big a threat is GameGuard really? Can you please help or give information or something? You would make a guy's life easyer

P.S. I believe that when I found this site & forum I found a goldmine. I bet there is a lot of good information here

A:How Can I Completely Remove Gameguard?

If there is a "rootkit" on your computer, the best chance of finding it and removing it is by posting a Hijack This log.Post a Hijack This log in the Hijack This Forum by following the directions in the link below. My computer picked up VirusProtectPro and so I downloaded a programme from SuperAntiSpyware.com to scan my computer and remove the viruses etc. This it did, finding 222 adware, trojan and malware items, which I have removed and quarantined. I was unsure about another 8 items, which were listed as Unclassified/Unknown Origin,so I left these for the while, as I didn't want to get rid of anything by mistake. The good news is that the VirusProtectPro programme etc seems to have been successfully removed. However, the logo is still displayed at the bottom of the screen, giving off its 'System Alert' warnings. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this, too? AndyMoved from the XP Forum. ~acklan~

Is there a removal tool for IE? I have used add/remove programs and search companion. I think all versions are gone but I am not sure. Is there an alternate removal tool to clean up any left behind stuff, specifically in the registry? I have used CCleaner and PowerTools Lite.

The reason I am asking is that Sophos anti-rootkit finds over 10,000 non-removable Zone Map registry entries. It looks like a list of blocked web sites to protect IE users, kind of like spybot s+d's and spyware terminators immunization lists are. It is a lot of clutter. I want to get rid of it.

I do not want to use IE again. I am fine with Chrome and Firefox.

My laptop originally had Windows Vista Home Premium x86 on it, but I upgraded it to Windows 7 Ultimate x86. Is there any way to return to Windows Vista Home Premium?

PS: I don't want to do this, I'm just saving it as a last resort because of this registry problem I am having.

A:How can you completely remove Windows 7 from a PC?

Two possible ways:

If you have the original DVD, you can reinstall

If the System came preinstalled there may be a recovery drive that will allow you to return to factory specs. This partition is sometimes rendered useless, however, on installation of new Systems.

If you are having a registry problem the easy solution is system restore or system image.

On my W7, I've been told to go to programs & features , locate the program to delete it & once done, its gone. I've since found its not that easy.
I removed SeaMonkey a few days ago by doing as mentioned, yet I just now downloaded it & when I clicked to start using it, it was as if it'd never been deleted via Programs & Features.
Ditto with Google Chrome. I dumped it a few weeks ago & when I reinstalled it, it too was like it had never been removed. I've even done a check via Start>search & nothing showed up. Going to Crogram files> no SeaMonkey or Google Chrome folders or files were seen Yep, confused again.

A:How to completely remove a program

Some of these programs will leave behind a file of your personal settings for the program when uninstalled. Also some of them will ask you when uninstalling them do you want to save your personal settings. As for were that file maybe on your drive, I am not sure. Depends on the program. I just say no when ask if I want to keep. My personal settings. This is more or less why they are as if you never uninstalled them. Hope this helps you.

So this one guy, telecom69, suggested me to download MalwareRemoveBot.
So I downloaded because I was in dire need to quickly fix my pc. Then I googled reviews of it but rather find out that it's basically crap and fake.

So I unsinstalled it but it kept running... very weird. While i read reviews and mcafee site advisor, and people's probles on this site, people said they had trouble COMPLETELY removing the program.

So how can i do so? i uninstalled from add/remove programs under control panel. seems like there's some underlying file/thing still in my pc probably

Hi,

Could somebody advise on the following please?

Something happened to my Adobe Acrobat Pro 6.0 and I decided to repair it. When I was trying to do that, it requested the CD but once the CD is inside it gives me the message: Not valid source. But it is the CD that it has been installed from!

After a couple of tries I decided to uninstall it and to install anew. But I could not do it through Control Panel >Add/Remove Programs. It again requested the CD. I inserted the CD and it requested: Disk 1 while I have only one CD.

After a while I decided to remove it manually. I deleted the keys from the registry and all folders. I ran search and deleted everything with the word Adobe Acrobat.

But once I try to install it, it gives me only the options of repair, modify or remove and none of them works, which means it is still there. The story repeats: it requests the CD and it does not go any further.

Please advise how to remove it completely?

OS: Win XP Pro (SP2); Toshiba Satellite 2805-S402

Thanks.

A:How to remove Adobe completely?

I've seen a number of postings on a lot of varied boards and fora implying problems with AA 6. My best sugegstion would be to repeat your manual uninstall and seek out a version of AA 5. It's more than adequate and you probably already have a copy embedded in a CD somewhere that came with a new piece of hard or software.

I am a technician for a church.  One of the pastors has 8 kids and always has malware.  I have only been partially successful in cleaning an Arcade Yum infection.  It will no longer run the ads but it still shows in the addons and removal is disabled in the addons menu for IE.  I have run the following. Adwclean, Junkware removal tool, ComboFix ( this was before I had read that I was supposed to have someone tell me to do it)  MalwareBytes, and Sophos. I also did a Kaspersky scan. I think it is hiding in the registry but I can't find anything that tells me which lines to delete in the registry, only stuff trying to get me to download Spyhunter which I believe has malware.  I need to have this back by this Sunday.  I have only partially resolved the problem.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

My trial of McAfee ended in Dec or so and I've been using AVG ever since. I thought I had done a clean sweep of everything McAfee from my computer in the uninstall, but recently found out that the McAfee Personal Firewall Plus is still active.

If I turn off all my other firewalls, Sygate and the Windows firewall, it tells me that McAfee is currently on and protecting my computer.

I've done a few searches and tried the removal tools McAfee provides, but it's still there. I can search under firewall and have a few remnants show up; one in my restore partition and the other in c:\windows\system32.

What should I do to completely remove McAfee from my pc? I'd appreciate any help you could give.

Step 1he easiest and safest way to do this is: * Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools and click "System Restore". * Choose the radio button marked "Create a Restore Point" on the first screen then click "Next". Give the R.P. a name then click "Create". The new point will be stamped with the current date and time. Keep a log of this so you can find it easily should you need to use System Restore. * Then go to Start > Run and type: Cleanmgr * Click "OK". * Click the "More Options" Tab. * Click "Clean Up" in the System Restore section to remove all previous restore points except the newly created one.Step 2Download install and update CcleanerAfter installing and updating go to options - advanced and tick prompt for registry back upsNow Start up in safe modeDo two runs1) Click on problems and tick all. Click on analyse. At the end you will be prompted for storing a backup. This will be stored, as a default, in My documents.2) Click on cleaner click on analyse and accept all files to be removed.
