I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A really strange behavour happens on my E460: when I use touchpad to left click on a file, it becomes a mouse hold, which means if I move the mouse pointer at this moment, the file is dragged. I can only release the mouse hold by doing a mouse click again. It really makes a lot of trouble as it causes me to accidentally drag some files. Also, when I am using excel, when I click on a cell, due to the mouse click becomes a mouse hold, so when I move the mouse pointer, it begins to highlight a range of cells. I tried to updated the BIOS, and also update to the latest touchpad driver, but none of them solve the problem. I can only solve the problem by removing the touchpad driver, but this cause all the useful features (e.g. scrolling by using 2 fingers) disappear. Also, it causes another problem. When I'm using excel, I can't double click a cell to edit the text inside. I need to triple click to edit, which is very strange. So removing the touchpad driver can solve one problem but bringing two other problems........ Anyone had such kind of issues too? Any way to solve it? Thanks.

I have a weird problem with my screen  and my touchpad and keyboard shutting down. Whenever my laptops screen is in a normal upright position the touchpad and keyboard don't work. However as soon as I tilt the screen so that it's nearly completely horizontal then all of a sudden the keyboard and touchpad start working. I have no idea what's causing this issue since my laptop has just been sitting on my desk for 4 days without being touched and it worked just fine last week. Any help is greatly appreciated.

This issue is caused by a windows 10 upgrade.  The touchpad is unresponsive if the laptop is woken from sleep mode.  The touchscreen, keyboard, and rest of the machine function normally.  The touchpad works normally if I restart or hard reboot the machine.  This was not an issue prior to the windows 10 upgrade and is not an issue if I uninstall that upgrade.  Is there a fix so I don't have to uninstall windows 10?

Hello, my name is Daniel Demétrio and this is my first post on this forum. Recently i bought a Lenovo Yoga 710 14IKB. I absolutely love the laptop, and meanwhile i had some problems with the fan noise that i did manage to resolve using de Notebook Fan Control that was recomended on the forum, i still have other problem. My mouse pointer is constantly dissapering and reapearing, or just changes to a low resolution appearence. I've updated all the drivers, i tried all options of the mouse, i've seen a lot of tutorials or solutions, but still i got this problem.I don't think that the problem is related to the mouse or touchpad driver, i think is something related with the graphics card or something related. But i've made all the updates, and i also tried to reverse the updates, but still i it made no difference, i still have the problem.Anyone are having the same problem? Thanks a lot,Daniel Demétrio

I can orded a new original touchpad, but that will cost me around 50 Euros, so I am trying to find a cheaper way.  The looks don't bother me, but the surface is no longer smooth. Is there some sort of a sticker, that I can stick over it?

I have a Yoga 2 Pro, running Windows 10, working fine after upgrade several months ago.Last week noticed intermittent touchpad freezing, then touchpad lock requiring a reboot, then total failure of touchpad.Suspected HW but did all usual things such as reinstalling drivers, cleaning registry. Arrived back from trip and plugged in a USB mouse, but it doesn't work (mouse confirmed working in other laptop). I then opened her up and checked the touchpad cable - re-seated it, but no joy. My questions are.. can a failed touchpad prevent a usb mouse from working ?If not then what can cause all mouse function to not work. In all other respects the latop is working fine. Thanks in advance for any help offered. PS I have not tried a restore to previous state yet - but will do once backup has completed. The only other thing I can think of doing is replacing the touchpad.

I have Yoga 14-710 ikb with Windows 10+Ubuntu 18.04 dual boot.1. The touchpad's buttons don't work at all. At first I've thought it's something with the way I've connected the touchpad to the maternal plate the last time I've diassembled the laptop to clean it and didn't care much to fix it since I mostly used external mouses anyway. However after inspecting it again and reassembling my laptop I believe there's nothing wrong with the way it was connected.2. On Ubuntu, trying to turn off touchpad by F6 button will also break the left click so it wouldn't work at all. The only way to imitate left click is to tap the touchscreen (not the best way for me since half of my touchscreen doesn't work by reasons) and the external mouses have their left click not working as well. It however seems to be fixed as soon as I log off from the user and log back. I've tried a lot of solutions by users on Ubuntu/Linux forums and none of them worked for me.EDIT: At this point I guess I can say the left click just disappears at the random times. Causes me to reload every 30 mins or so.

Hello,i have a problem with the touchpad of my Yoga 460 ultrabook. Unfortunately, it has a little but annoying difference from my ultrabook (T450) at work. With the T450: When I use two fingers to scroll down or up, I can remove one finger from the touchpad and it still is in "scroll mode" while only one finger is on the touchpad. This is shown by the fact, that when i put the finger back on the touchpad, I can continue scrolling. With my Yoga 460: When i remove one finger while letting the other on the touchpad, the "scroll mode" is interrupted and i cant continue scrolling immediately. I havent´t found any option from windows or my preinstalled Elan smart pad options.Does someone know a solution for this? Best regardsDejan V.

I have bought two days ago a Lenovo Yoga 720 13', and since yesterday I am experiencing issues with the touchpad. There are two kinds of problems: one with the scrolling function, the other one when the pointer goes over some links (even without clicking them). Problem number one: The scrolling functions only with some programs , and when working it produces a strange flickering of the page when I reach the bottom of the page. On words it works, and when I scroll until the end of the page, the whole Words page flickers for some moments. Very bizarre. On Chrome the scrolling does not work. Problem number two: when on Chrome I drag the pointer over a link (like in the links that appear after a search with google) the whole Chrome page quivers for an instant. And it quivers for every other link the pointer touches (without clicking on it). Therefore, my searches on google are very painful for the eyes, for the whole page quivers every link I pass upon. How can I fix this problem with the touchpad? I have already tried to check the settings, and to change them, with no result. Thank you for all the help you could provide.

I've looked around for a solution to my problem and haven't found one, so sorry if this is a repeat post.  I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, running Windows10.  I am still under warranty, so sending it in is an option, but I'm a student and not having my laptop for an extended period of time would be incredibly inconvenient.  I don't have any other issues with my laptop. About 5 months ago, the touchpad on my computer just stopped working.  No response to anything.  I downloaded the latest drivers, installed them and restarted, and still nothing.  I did some more research and tried to follow advice, but ran into what I think is the root of the problem.  When I tried to see if my touchpad was enabled in Settings, only my wireless mouse is listed.  I looked further and found that my touchpad doesn't show up in 'Device Manager' under the 'Mice and Other Pointing Devices' subsection. I'm not particularly techie, but am willing to try anything to regain functionality.  It's an inconvenience to have to either use the touchscreen or carry around my mouse all the time.  Any pointers down the right road towards fixing this (and not having to have it serviced) would be grealy appreciated!  Thanks in advance.

Hi guys,

New here, so I hope I'm not out of line asking for help, and that I'm asking correctly. I've exhausted my own ideas on this but the problem is driving me IN.SANE.

THE ISSUE:
When using an external (USB) mouse with my ASUS Win7 laptop, the mouse randomly lifts up and re-clicks while clicking or while dragging (despite the button remaining consistently depressed), resulting in selection of the wrong objects, inadvertent double-clicks, and incorrect dragging. From what I can tell, this affects only the left click and not the right.

WHAT I'VE TRIED:
Laptop touchpad - no problem. Everything works fine with the built-in touchpad.
Another mouse - same problem. These are wired mice, so it's not a battery or connection issue.
Another USB port - same problem in all four. There's no visible issue with the motion of the mouse/cursor, so it seems to be communicating OK via USB.
Safe Mode - no problem, from what I can tell. The wired USB mouse seems to click and drag as normal in Safe Mode.
Mouse Settings - no effect. Adjusting the click/double-click/drag settings doesn't seem to change anything.
System Resources - no effect. Clicking/dragging seems to show the same results in the RAM/CPU monitors whether I'm having the problem (with the mouse) or performing the same actions without the problem (with the trackpad).

WHAT I CANNOT FIGURE OUT:
What haven't I ruled out? What else could be causing the issue?

The problem came on suddenly after about a year, but I... Read more

Hey mate, and welcome,

Possible problem:
1. Mouse itself is bad. Either the button itself or internally
2. Driver is not at its best

Try:
Going to the mouse manufacture website to download the most recent driver for your Windows 7, either 32 or 64 bit. If it doesn't work, try without any driver (so that windows driver takes over).

I have a Yoga 920, which replaced my Yoga 3 Pro, and I love it dearly. I have adjusted to the tiny up/down arrows OK. My only real complaint is that I keep activating the touchpad whilst typing, and since I have an external mouse that I use a lot, I don't really need the touchpad. I would like to automatically disable the touchpad whilst using the external mouse, at least when typing. I decreased the touchpad sensitivity but then the touchpad doesn't work that well when I don't use the external mouse. I can't find any place in Settings or Control Panel or any registry hacks that apply to this model of laptop that would help this. (I'm using to twiddling Synaptics settings but this laptop doesn't have any.) Thanks for any help.

Hello, im trying to figure out, how to enable 3 finger tap for a middle mouse click on my yoga 720 15. There are some solutions out there suggesting editing the registry, but i don't have the entries they name and no other entries, that could be related to the touchpad for that matter. The device manager lists the touchpad simply as "hid-compatible touchpad" with no further information. I even tried installing the synaptics software on the off chance, that that would work, but it said, that no synaptic device was detected. I can switch the 3 finger tap from opening cortana to opening the info center, to doing nothing, but thats it. Can anyone help me? regards Sebastian

Just purchased a YOGA 720. I am having an issue with the Touch Pad and Mouse. Everything works fine on startup but if I close the lid and then reopen the touchpad and mouse become inoperarable. On start up I checked the Device Manager and see two "HID Compliant Mouse" items. If I close the lid and re-open the touchpad mouse stops working and when I check the Device manager again only ONE "HID Compliant Mouse" item is listed. I hit the "scan for hardware changes" but it still does not come back. If I delete the remaining "HID Compliant Mouse" and scan for hardware changes, it re-populated the item but the mouse still does not work. Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this?

The touchpad of my Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro is not working with Windows 8.1 or the newly installed Windows 10. It is neither recognised in the Device Manager, nor the Synaptics TouchPad Driver is listed among the installed programs in the Control Panel. Moreover, when I try to install the latest verion of this driver obtained from the Lenovo website, I am warned that "A previous version of the Synaptics TouchPad Driver is installed.", and that I should remove it first before continuing. If I try to install this version anyway, the installation is apparently successful, but I still cannot use the touchpad (nor the driver seems to be installed anywhere). What should I do to solve this annoying issue? Many thanks for your attention.

Once I sign in, it stops working. There's no updates for the keyboard driver.I have already tried to uninstall the driver, restart the laptop, and allow it to reinstall the driver.Disabling ymc did not help.F6 does not re-enable the touchpad.I tried a couple button combinations I've seen around for people disabling/enabling keyboards, but none worked. (Willing to try more though!!!) Any ideas? I thought it may be a hardware problem, but since the arrow keys work in BIOS; I'm not confident that this is the case.

Hello everyone, I've had my X1Y3 for approx 2 months now and I'm experiencing some problems with the touchpad not being precise when doing small movements on it. For a long time I thought that the touchpad just wasn't up to par with the touchpad of the Surface Book. But when I tried the touchpad of the X380 (of a friend) I was amazed by the precision and it was just as good as the Surface Book Touchpad. I tried to film it, but I don't know how clear it gets just by how much the precision is worse. I would really appreciate if someone can either confirm or deny that experience, so I can know if I should complain about it to Lenovo. Thanks in advanceTheo

My Yoga 500-14ACL is really good-looking. That's all positive I can say.Since I have purchased it some years ago, I experienced troubles of all kinds.I disabled the touchscreen, 'cause this this was causing crazy ghost touches everywhere. A week ago also the touchpad stopped working. Not good. I had to use a usb mouse. I've read many forums, tried almost everything, but nothing. Finally, I've solved the issue today! Heureka! That's what you have to do if you have my problem: - turn off your Lenovo.- Turn it on using the NOVO button (look for it in the manual or online, if you have no clue).- Go to Bios settings and set on "enabled" BIOS Back flashing (or something like that).- Open this page: https://support.lenovo.com/it/en/- Let the page detect you system, then search for your BIOS drivers and download them- Launch it. That's it. May be once I'll be able even to use my never-touched touchscreen. byemichele
