Yoga Ran Out of Battery

Q: Yoga Ran Out of Battery

Okay, it ran out of battery, naturally I plugged it in. Now it will not turn on. I get a red flashing light where the plug is inserted into the laptop and white light on the power button. But not activity nor any other light. What do I do? I cannot lose this data. Thanks

Preferred Solution: Yoga Ran Out of Battery

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

I am struggling with this for a while now. In Hungary we basically have no Lenovo support. My Yoga 2 is considered old but still a very-very good laptop. The Energy Manager complains that the battery is old and I can see it in its performance as well unfortunately. I tried several sellers on Ebay but I keep getting some crappy quality, usually old, refurbished like (but it does not work at all) batteries. I want a real ORIGINAL Lenovo battery that is BRAND NEW (not manufactured in 2014), that is a real stuff, not just a sticker on the outside, crap in the inside. Could you please help me?

Hello brain trust. - I purchased a Yoga c930 for my daughter to use at college and I noticed that after shutting down (using windoes shut down, not sleep mode), the battery will deplete down to around 25% after sitting totally off for just 4 days. I've tested this a couple of times and it's consistent. In addition, it will then fully charge after around 45 minutes on the charger, even though the charge icon in the systray says it will take around double that time I've not used it enough to check the battery life in use, but since my Dell laptop will fire up after going weeks and weeks without a charge, there seems to be something wrong with this machine if it's depleting the battery like that while totally shut down. Any suggestions on what to check or how to diagnose why this is happening?  Thanks in advance

I am a Yoga 700-14ISK user for 2 years. And I had encounter serveral issues with this laptop before (and the service center helped me to fix them) However, now there is an issue I just have now - my battery is draining fast like 1% lost per 2-3 min for light usage (browsing on Chrome or doing my schoolwork either on Microsoft Office or Google Drive) I suspected it was due to my battery wear level. However, as I monitored it, I realised it keep fluctuating (from 19.64% to 42.02%) until I re-calibrate which gives me 38.51% and then 38.71% after a charge to 60%. Is it possible the battery wear level can cause the quick drain in battery?  Is this battery wear level normal? I would also like to point out that I had the battery changed over a year ago and I normally used my laptop for schoolwork and gaming (occasionally now after realising the issue.) I am also going to have an internship (at least 6 months) from July so I am very worried that my laptop can't last long especially its battery. Hence, should I go to a Lenovo service center and request for a battery replacement? Please give me any possible reasons on why the laptop battery starts to drain fast and its battery wear level sharp increase, and also possible solutions for these issues. I would like to know more about it in order to sustain my laptop at least for a year.

2) I already unplugged and reinstalled the battery drives

I always used to be an HP customer and thought would give it a go with Lenovo so I got myself a Yoga 910. I am out of warranty, called support and have been quoted $1500 AUD for  anew motherboard which is not even on stock and no one in their right mind would give that sort of money for such a piece of garbage. The symptoms:It started a random day out of the blue. When the battery was around 30% I plugged in the charger and the laptop started acting as if I was periodically at every second unplugging and replugging the DC adapter meanwhile the charging led was blinking at the same frequency every second. I heard the plug in sound and the screen became brighter every 2 seconds. Unfortunately even when the laptop was turned off itwasn't charging the battery at all so after experimenting with all possible solutions with uninstalling and deactivating charging drivers which didn't work my battery was fully drained and now my premium looking laptop is pretty much good to be thrown out. I know it has nothing to do with sleep mode and all or other software related settings. It's not a charger issue because I tried another charger and another power socket as well. It's not a contact issue with the charging port because it's following the same pattern no matter how I hold or don't hold the plug to the charging port. I could  get the laptop to work only through the battery connectors. When the battery is removed then it's just completely dead. The charging led w... Read more

Hi, I am looking for a laptop with a 4K screen. According to the specs, the X1 Carbon Gen 7 and X1 Yoga Gen 4 will have 51W battery. Does that mean even they will get the latest cpu (which some said there is not much different), they will have shorter battery life than the current Yoga C930 which has 60W battery? https://www.ultrabookreview.com/24380-2019-lenovo-thinkpads/https://www.ultrabookreview.com/24458-lenovo-yoga-c930-review/

I've recently (13th of April) bought new Yoga 530-14IKB. It has adequate CPU i3-8130U, which is faster than i5-6200U in my sister's Acer laptop, but I anyway don't play any games. Despite that, its battery life isn't good. It works about 3-3,5 hours in Chrome. In task manager I've noticed that Yoga Mode Control is constantly using 15-30% CPU and its battery usage is described as very high. After disabling it, I can't switch to the tablet mode and keyboard and touchpad don't turn off. Is there somebody who has Yoga laptop and experience similar problem?

I have brand new lenovo Yoga 15. From the first start up I am getting this error message: Battery Not Detected I don't know what is going on but this is a new machine right? Anyway, the laptop is connected 24/7 to AC, yesterday I needed to unplug it and after 5 minutes the system turned off. After turning it on I got this error screened: Critical low-battery error The thing is after I turned it on for the second time everything was great. The battery said that it's 100% charged. But after another 5 minutes or something the battery turned off again - WTH? Does the laptop's battery is broken and I need to give it for the guarantee?

Hi TomHG Which is the full model number of your machine? What I would try to do first is try to update the BIOS of your computer and the power related drivers just in case. But the message that is showing the problem on the BIOS (before Windows boot) it is not nice. I would try tp update the drivers with the following tools- Windows Update- Lenovo System Update- Install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion.- Check on Lenovo Support site the driver for your model. If after updating the BIOS and power drivers of your computer the problem remains there, I will recommend to contact the Lenovo Support Center. If you are still under warranty Lenovo should fix it by replacing any part. Regards

Hi everyone! Is it ppossible to buy NEW battery form my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro 13 Notebook? It uses the L12M4P21. I looked at many places but all the batteries are made in 2003 or 2004. As I know they loose their performance if they sit on the shelf for many years... Is it possible to find really newly made original Lenovo battery for my laptop?

A:I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro 13, I need a new battery... but NEW, not battery that was made in 2004!

Hi Moksa,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It may be hard to say as because of the age of the model but you can try calling in EMEA parts sales desk for your region (Hungary 30 722-37-91). On the battery sticker is also the battery manufacturer which you can try but I am not as optimistic for newer manufactured battery.

I would say that as long as they provide the standard battery one year warranty, then it would be a good option to go.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

My Yoga had a change of battery in warrenty time (after 3 years) due to a defect on the mainboard. After installation of the new battery, it took quite a certain time, till the battery was found and recharged. After recalibration I tested the new battery with the Lenovo Vantage tool, and it showed a quite good looking capactiy of the cell but a manufacturing date older than the Yoga (more than 3 years). While using the computer it seems as if the battery is worse than my 3 years old former battery. This one was able to last for 5 to 6 hours in normal use. The new one is more like 2 to 3 hours. Is it possible, that the battery was deep-discharged and the Lenovo Vantage tool did not get the right capacity? Is it normal, that a 3 year old battery is installed for a warranty battery replacement? Thanks for help! mark

My Yoga 3 pro is still a nightmare and so far is unusable given onging battery problems. However I digress. The thing wouldn't charge past 72% and took 2 days to get to that from 51%. So yet again I searched the net hoping to find something new and I noted yet another updated battery guage realeased only a few days ago. I also noted that someone had suggested deleting the windows battery drivers in Device Manager after disconnecting the battery which I figured couldn't hurt so went ahead. Once I reconnected the battery, plugged it in and waited for it to download the battery drivers, I noted it didn't install the ACPI component. Now lo and behold, I have no battery guage at all. In fact it says "The battery is not used", but of course it is. I then tried the latest battery guage driver but no improvement. Can anyone help in this age old problem? Cheers

My Yoga 3 Pro-1370 does not detect its own battery. At the lower right of the screen, it appears the battery sign empty and crossed by a diagonal line. When I click on it the message "The battery is not used" appears.  OneKey Optimizer says: "No battery is present". Please see two images attached. Got the laptop and the battery inspected by a professional but he couldn't fix the problem. He himself updated the Bios, Windows, cleaned the inside and the fan of the computer but the problem is still there. Please provide me with a solution ASAP.

I don't think I had much more than 5-6 hours at the beginning. I suppose I would save an hour or so if I closed everything but that's still very far from the more than 8 hours generally acknowledged. Hi, hope somebody can help with this. I bought a Yoga 2 11 mid 2017 so it's just about 2 years old. I bought it as a 'going away' machine so only gets used properly about 5 times per year. Very dissapointed that just after 12 months the battery started to quickly loose capacity especially as I had been using conservation mode when running on the AC Adapter. I just put it down to the irregular use it gets. Now the battery shows only 1 hour of use at full charge and worse if I pop it in its bag (fully shut down) when I come to use it a few hours later it can be down to only 10% or even down to the red safety shut off.  So time to replace it I guess. Looked on Lenovo web site for a replacement but after using the various search options all I got was no records found. So using the serial number I used the option to see what spares were listed as being available for my machine. No battery was shown as available. Next I checked this ( and other Forums) I found that other people had the same problem and one person on this Forum said he had contacted Lenovo support directly and been told to search the Internet for a supplier. So this I did. I've now got the replacement (claimed as genuineLenovo) battery it looks identical with the same Yello Lenovo labeling and Lenovo Trademark but when I plug in the charger it charges for about 1 minute then stops with the message 'Plugged in, not charging' and the charge light flashes a slow orange pulse instead of white. I trie... So i guess it was actually charging the whole time without showing it?After about 2 days of ownership, I've decided to do a clean install of windows 8.1 followed by loading all the necessary drivers listed on lenovo's product page, and I can happily say this 0% plugged in not charging thing hasn't happened again.

But it seems it was a Windows problem, because after some updates, the battery life got better. Still, I let it looping a 40 minutes video and from 100% battery, it died in 6:30 hours (battery saver on and WiFi on). I feel it is not ok. What do you think?
