Q: Roll over effect

Sometimes while surfing, when I roll over a picture or link it opens that link without me doing anything. Can that be adjusted so that I have to "Enter" or clink to go to a link, etc. Thank you for any assistance.

Preferred Solution: Roll over effect

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Welcome to Seven Forums katbird. 1st thing to look for:

Mouse Hover Makes Window Active - Enable

Start> In search box type Ease of access> Enter> Make the mouse easier to use> Under Make it easier to manage windows> Uncheck Activate a windows by hovering over it with the mouse

If it's already unchecked, are you using single click to open links? Try this:

Open any folder> Organize in upper left> On drop down menu that opens> Folder and search options> General tab> Click items as follows> Check box next to Double-click to open an item (single-click to select)

Apply and OK your way out

See if either address your problem. Let us know. A Guy

Hello.I'm new here (this is my first post acctually), but I joined because I have a little question...I discovered that I have Roll.exe installed on my computer. After looking it up on google and being directed to this site, I found out that it's a trojan. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/roll.exe-14883.html. Not good. So, I ran AVG free to try to catch it... but it didn't. AVG reported that there was nothing wrong with my computer. So, I guess my question is, What should I do now? Is it safe to simply hit uninstall in the programs list? How do I get rid of this trojan? Thanks for your help!EDIT: Moved from Win 7 to Am I Infected forum ~ Hamluis.

As a way of practising my coding abilities I would like to make several projects, however I am unsure about how to start or where to go from there. Below are the projects I would like to make along with some information about each one.

1) An operating system: Only a basic one, perhaps using the Linux kernel and moving on from there like in Linux From Scratch. The trouble with this one is all of the sites I have been through don't explain in a clear, detailed manor. However I do know I will need to make a boot-strapper and other such programs, but don't know how.

2) Password protecting a file: I want to create a small program that will combine any chosen .Exe file with another .Exe that will check for a password and run the password protected .Exe if the password provided is correct. The end result of merging the two files would be a .Exe that will execute the password .Exe first as well as the first .Exe having access to the second one and vice-versa.

3) Remote learning software: A good example of this is ClassLink, but I have no idea which language to use or where to start. Any pointers or advice would be much appreciated.

4) Windows GUI editor: A small tool to change the look of Windows Xp's or Windows Vista's GUI, like the close and minimize buttons and the title bar in windows, with little overhead.

I was wondering if anyone out there knew of a program that lets you automatically generate an upward-marquee, credit-roll style style movement for text which can be saved as either avi or mpg format? I'm making a game using RPGMaker2k3 and really want to insert credits in the end ^^

Try Windows Movie Maker, which is free. All of the movie production programs (Ulead, Vegas, Pinnacle, etc.) let you do that and most of them have a free trial.

Here's the background info.
We have users that are expericing issues within Outlook that has CRM installed.
We have CRM 3.0 no rollups installed on the server.
The fixes to the problems are located in the client side CRM Rollups 1-3. When I presented this to the boss to see if we can deploy these he wanted me to double check to see if any of the client rollups will cause issues to the server. We do not plan on updating the server with rollups at this time.
Does anybody know if the CRM server has to have the same rollups as the Clients?
Can we install the Client Rollups without affecting the Server?

Any and all input is appreciated.

A:Roll back to XP

Hi Boceefus,

If you had xp and you reformatted your hard drive and installed 7 in it's place then no, you can't get your xp back like it was unless you had a complete backup of your xp made before you installed 7 over it. You could reformat again and install your xp back over your 7 install. Or if you had the xp installation disk you could install it over your 7 but it would be brand new of course.

Laptop on wireless, XPSP2 (legit - Toshiba), been doing this for years but this one has me nearly begging for help. Had Norton360 (a resource pig, thats why I uninstalled it). As soon as I did, laptop ambushed.
Heres some details (btw, HJthis wont install on a fresh reboot or in safe mode, I'm on the main PC):

The known red X in tool bar and notifying me I'm infected.
NO antivirus programs will run (Spybot Search and destroy, Ad-Aware etc). No free antivirus programs will install, In regular or safe mode. In regular mode, the hd indication light goes off and on for a second in duration. In safe mode, same duration, never clearing up. In Firefox or Opera, going to google and searching for anything and clicking on that link leads me else where. Not a single online scan page will load, Firefox just says cant connect. Opera as well. There are no firewalls in place to prevent antivirus software from running or installing.

Can someone, anyone help me out? I have tried everything I can think of - nothing will work. But oddly, I go to say, msnbc, page loads, anything, anywhere else thats anti virus related, no dice and the worst part, HJthis wont run in Safe or Normal mode. Nothing Anti virus will.

Thanks for taking the time to read, if I had a HJthis log I'd post it but that starting point is null.

I will stay on this thread.
Thank you.

A:Can anyone roll up their sleeves for this?

Well with no replies..... problem solved, maybe someone will benifit:

Dissabled all in msconfig/startup, reboot.

And what was left? That "your computer is infected ballon popup" in the tool bar, still no antivirus programs would run.

MALWAREBYTES WILL REMOVE THIS TROJAN THAT PREVENTS Anti Virus software from starting, PLUS MANY OTHERS.

After removal, and reboot, (still keeping all things from starting, OFF in msconfig) anti virus programs run. Updated Spybot Search and Destroy and a few others (they than found a ton), the system is %100 free of all trojans/mallware/virus', after purchasing and installing ZoneAlarm Firewall, there have been ZERO outbound virus requests and communication.

Hope someone benifits from this.

Hello All, I hope you can advise. I have decided I would prefer to put up with the problems I was having with Win 7's ever recurring Critical Updates than the difficulties I am experiencing with Win 8.
I bought Win 8 Pro, did a system backup, and upgraded using the 64 bit version (CPU is an i7). First I got - almost immediately - a message that "kdbsync.exe has stopped working ..." However, even after it closes, it does not affect the running of Win 8 that I can detect. Worse is the problem that when I start IE, it also reports a problem and asks to be shut down. This happens at various, but short, time intervals after starting, but always happens. Firefox, though - how embarrasing - runs like a charm (sorry).
I have reinstalled Win 8 from my purchased disk three times now, and no different outcome.

So, is there a fix for IE? If not at this stage, or my problem is unique, please advise how I can roll back to Win 7 until Win 8 is a little more mature and Service Packs have been issued.

The backup I did was on to another HDD in my computer. The Operating system is on a Raid set-up (1Tb) as Drive C:

Hope someone can help.

I got a new computer with Windows Media Player 10, which I've had experience with before, and I really don't like it. Playlists aren't as easy to navigate, and you can't sort them or move the tracks as well as you could in WMP 9. I tried to revert back to WMP 9, but without success and I was hoping someone here might be able to help me. WMP 11 is NOT an option; I've tried that, and I find it so unwieldy, cumbersome and user unfriendly, that I seriously wonder how anyone saw fit to release it in the first place. WMP 9 was so much more easier to use and uncomplicated than either 10 or 11.

Is there anything I can do, or am I doomed to be forever irritated by WMP 10?

A:Any way to roll back from WMP 10 to WMP 9?

Hi Regular Joe !

Sure you can rollback to WMP9, you only have to use add/remove programs to do that (you may need to tick the show updates button at the top for it to show in the list) :
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win.../0084.mspx#EEH

I stayed with WMP9 and have never had any problem with it. Be sure to do the related updates from windows update and if you have trouble reading some media then uninstall all your current codec packs and use the Klite codec pack instead.

A:update roll up 2

Hi,

Have you tryed installing it and then uninstalling it.
If you download it again it might computer up that you do have it on your computer but not visable in add/remove programs, so it can say either repair it or uninstall it. If it does not then install it and then remove it.

I cant see why you have to uninstall it though. If you do some programs might not work with out it.

Have a Nice Day.

I do not have an available restore point prior to the infection.
I did a standard uninstall of 'Roll Around' and removed it from my Browser extension which of course did not work.
I then tried every Malware S/W suggested on many sites dealing with this and none worked, most didn't even detect it.
'SpyHunter' did detect many malicious objects (none named Roll Around) but it's extremely expensive, way beyond my budget and I've read that it also fails to fix this issue by some users.
I'm hoping someone can please help, it's so bad I can barely go online at this point because of the severity of the hijacking :\

I have a dell Latitude 10 table with Windows 8.1 RT. Last week I decided to unload all the pictures from the camera roll to my PC and I did it without a problem, but in the process I removed the camera roll folder under the public pictures library. Since
then, the camera app is not working and it gives me the following message: "We can't get to the camera roll right now". I've re-created the folder, set the default save location and public save locations to the Public Pictures folder but the error
keeps popping up every time I open the camera application. If I try to shoot a photo or a video it tells me that it couldn't be saved. How do I set the camera app to use the new folder?

I had the same Problem, and all experts could not help. I even dowloaded tools that say thy would fix the problem. Anyway as a matter of fact it still is a computer, no magic.

I found a way: Open regedit, search for "User Shell Folders".

Then check all the directories.

In my case one of the directories refered to the one I deleted. I just changed it and restarted my computer.

On my iconia it saves into this key:

I changed it | Keep the Name of the folder "Camera Roll" depending on your language it will rename the folder in the Explorer library automaticly. (in Germany to Eigene Aufnahmen)

If you mean can you back up your files and format your machine back to Vista if you don't like Win7 RC? Then yes, you can. But you can't "roll back", so to speak. You would need to do a complete clean install and then re-install all your software.

It is now a P3-450 and I want to upgrade it to a P4 1.8 with a new hard drive and more RAM. I know that I cannaot put the XP hard drive into the new system, as XP won't allow that. When I hit F8 at startup, there is a choice of bootting to the previous "OS". What are the chances that bootting to the Win 98 and then "Ghosting" the existing hard drive to the new one, then install it into the new system and not losing any info?
HELP!!
Thanks,
Dave

A:XP roll back

Actually, you could ghost the drive over to the new one. You will just have to call Microsoft and explain what you have done and they will give you a new ID to enter into the new computer.
Even if you go the route that you are talking about the chances are that you will still have to call Microsoft as the ID will have already been used on the old computer.

Speccy :- http://speccy.piriform.com/results/Ayrmmu2U558bsLd7sus8stFI have been trying since the October patch Tuesday to install these updates and failing miserably.I have followed the advice on the Krelay website and my system has no problem in finding updates nor in installing them until it comes to the 'restart' part. It them goes to about 90% then comes up with an error message 'Windows update failed, reverting changes'. It then re-boots and tries again, to come up with the same message at which point it proceeds to boot normally but withour installing the update.I have downloaded the updates directly from MS and tried updating manually and it makes no difference - same error message, same result. To say I am getting fed up with this is putting it mildly.Thinking there might be some hardware or system fault I have run the Seagate short test on all my four drives, all passed, and the long test on my C:\ drive, passed. SFC shows no errors and chkdsk /r concluded with no significant errors. The only possible complication is that this computer dual boots, I have Mint 18 installed on one of the drives.Any ideas ?Chris Cosgrove

A:October & November roll-ups

Hi, Chris .

What I have decided...is to permanently disable the Windows Update function in Win 7.  It's not needed now that MS does these rollups...and the WU mechanism is the big stumbling block when it comes to installing the rollups.

What I do:

    1.  Go to Windows Update, select "Never install.  Not sure this is necessary but I do it anyway as a precursor to the next step.  Edit:  It is necessary.

    2.  Go to Services...scroll down to Windows Update, stop the service, then disable it.  Edit:  Not necessary to disable, but must stop service.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3197868

    3.  Go to the Microsoft Catalog, search "Nov 2016 Security Only Rollup" or "Nov 2016 Security Monthly Rollup".  The "security only" reflects only critical updates, while the "security monthly" may include other elements (as described in MS link above).  I download each to my Download folder and then I install one or the other (no need to install both).  Each will install quickly and with ease.  You can check to see that they really are installed by just going back to the WU site and looking at "installed updates" and do not pay attention to whether they are reflected as "updates" on the main WU page.

That's it .

Cable internet was functioning until an automatic update caused it to cease functioning, comcast said it was a driver that was "missing". I hypothesize rolling back my driver should then restore internet function to my tower, but there are several :Generic USB CF, MS, SD, and SM. I think it would be one of those, but i also have Samsung SP2504C, and i dont know what that is for. So, which drive should i rollback to restore functionability?

A:roll back a driver, which one?

Hi alicia damrow, welcome to TSF...

there is a difference between drive and driver. A drive usually refers to either a hard disk, CD/DVD or other storage component. A driver is a software program which controls how hardware interacts with a computer.

Considering your problem is network related, I think that rolling back your network card drivers would be your best bet.

I hope that helps.

Can anyone give a definitive answer as to whether or not the X201 has a top or top and bottom roll cage? The current tabook states:Compared to the X201, the X201s has ..., and roll cage in display cover. The tabook makes no mention of a roll cage for the X201, so together the implication is clear: the X201 has no roll cage. Except most of the reviews of the X201 (specifically not the X201s) claim it does have a roll cage (some say top and bottom).  And on Lenovo's website, it states here:Next-generation ThinkPad roll cage on X201, X201s, X301 and X200s Note the inclusion of the X201 in the list. So, which is it? Yes, or no? And top and bottom, or just top? Thanks!

A:X201: Roll cage(s) or not?

the top case uses a magnesium alloy cover, there is no rollcage as such. The bottom uses a magnesium rollcage and casing.

It will only be available in Windows 8. There will be hints of Metro in some of the products from Microsoft (Microsoft Security Essentials 4.0) but the full experience will be in Windows 8 and the apps for Windows 8.

I went on to Acer Support when I couldn't get a bluetooth connection with 8.1, was able to with 8. I am seriously thinking of rolling-back to 8 again for the second time so I can use Bluetooth and not have issues with WMP. I did not know that 8.1 was another operating system I thought it was a "necessary have to have upgrade" from windows 8. Everything I read on 8.1 made me understand that it was an upgrade, well more fool me.,

Microsoft labelled Windows 8.1 as an upgrade for tax purposes, but it is not an upgrade. Windows 8.1, by itself, is a complete operating system that is similar to Windows 8. When you installed it, you lost your Acer drivers and voided your warranty. However, it isn't hopeless.

Go to Computer (formerly "My Computer") and see if your original recovery partition is still there. If it is there, you might be able to restore Windows 8.

But hold on. The manufacturer might come out with drivers later on. Does your laptop have WiFi? Is 8.1 working all right everywhere else? Acer might come out with drivers later on as well. If you can still use WiFi without problems, you might be better off considering it a fair trade--you gave up your Bluetooth for a newer operating system

Greetings experts>

I have installed the free version of Windows 10 on 2 newer computers, that were bought with Windows 8. The desk top installed with no problems, the lap top had issues, but I solved them and all was working just peachy until windows descended upon me with one of their ill-conceived major updates. Without going into detail and making a very long and involved story much shorter... it screwed up both machines big time.
It was so bad that I needed remote intervention, and the actual windows tech had to do it for free because it was their fault, and he actually admitted it.....he was British, bless his heart.
But there is a problem; they couldn't actually fix the error, why I don't know, what they did was prompt my computer to down load the latest version, called the "anniversary edition" of windows 10, which is supposed to be the major repair for the free version they gave us all almost a year to decide to use.
In truth, I really like windows 10, it was working great until they sent me the major update; but after the remote help from a windows tech, I now have 2 windows 10 systems operating on my computer(s).
Funny thing is, after it was done downloading and installing, the initial version of windows 10 (that he could not seem to fix) started working perfect again, and that is the one I want to keep, (as it has all my files and programs) and it is the same on both computers.

In plain..., simple, concise English, how do I uninstall the Wi... Read more

Hello group I have tech question I have sony vaio laptop and it has windows vista and I am going to try to roll back to windows xp pro edition I have talk with sony they tell me that my laptop is compatible with xp and my question is do I just put it cd in and enter product key and select replace partion or is ther other stuff that i need to do can someone please give me some advise . thanks

A:roll back vista to xp pro

I don't understand what you mean exactly.

I would however simply backup all my important data first, then download all the drivers necessary for my computer prior to rolling back the installation. I wouldn't roll back, but I would clean install XP, if possible. I would insert the XP disc and have my key ready, then erase everything (format, quick) and install XP. Install drivers afterwards.

Hi, I updated my video driver (intel) today and now windows will not start up (even in safe mode). I keep getting the bsod "a problem has been detected and...".

Using "last know good configuration" does not work either.

I am able to browse the contents of the hard driving using ubuntu, so I was wondering if there was a way to remove the driver that I installed earlier? Have no idea where to look or how to remove it. Even a VGA driver would at least get me there so I can re-install the old driver.

Basically, I want to disable the Intel video driver so it will default to VGA 640X480. Can this be done?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Ok, this seems to be the most knowledgeable forum out there, most places I have tried people don't even know what I'm talking bout.

So first, there is a thing call in-place upgrade, I believe it started in XP. This is where you install over the existing OS with the original CD. It replaces files but keeps your data. Windows 7 claims it dint have it but that's not true.

Here is how to do it.
How to Restore Your Files From the Windows.old Folder After Upgrading

Now my issue:

I did a in place upgrade from win7 ult. to win7 ult. ( same CD ). Setup did indicate all files and setting will remain so I proceeded. Everything went great until the final restart. Windows just said that it failed to upgrade and will now roll back my system. On reboot I saw my old "windows 7 64 boot option" and like an idiot I selected it just to see it it was done. To my surprise it didn't boot to the OS and instead finished the install that is said could not be completed. After that reboot I quick learned it was a new install. And on top of that Windows put a 32 bit windows 7 on there. Well no wonder if failed because you can install a 32 bit of a 64 bit.
So now I want to roll back but the boot loader option is gone. I do see the files windows made to the roll back, I just need to know how to set up the windows 7 boot loader to roll it back.

this is not the windows.old deal... ( again this is an in-place upgrade ) Most people dont even know about this.

Hi there!
combofix.exe totally damaged the OS of my laptop.
Pre-loaded programes at the systray are reduced to a minimum: no audio access, no WLAN configuration, no bluetooth, no display driver configuration icon and, and, and ...
Totally mixed up Quicklauch - after I changed the configuration to get it visible again. Date putted in front for one day and the configuration for local time reset to english / US style instead of german style.

No icons for the programms that are currently running
No OLE functionality and no VBA access - reported by MS Word; Excel, PP
Avant browser doesn't work anymore.
No copy function in windows explorer.

combofix.de - What a ******** program!

Reason for running it was that Trend Micro Office Scan was not able to delete a trojanian .dll

I need urgent help how to roll back what combofix damaged!

Is it possible to roll back to win7 from win8?

I purchased win8 pro as an upgrade from win7 through Microsoft so I do not have a disc. I've looked at several vids on the internet and nothing worked.

I have tried start up and recover, win8 is the only system available.

I purchased my laptop with win7, so no disc or recovery disc.

I also tried setting up a vhd and boot into that, it did not work.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Rob

A:Roll back to Win7

1. You can try and restore from Windows.old folder - harder than it used to be .

2. You can use the .wim ( or several split wims on the original recovery partition that your machine came with. Assuming you haven't deletd it.

3. You can get a windows 7 iso download, do a clean install using the product key that came with your machine. It will be on sticker somewhere.

Option 3 is probably easiest unless you are a geek.
