Laptop Keyboard driving me crazy

Q: Laptop Keyboard driving me crazy

I bought this new laptop and now whn I type faster or put my fingers relaxed and then type quickly.. every 2 or 3 letters I try to type the cursor or jumps back 4 or 5 letters or deletes the whole or part of a word and then starts from there or the cursor ends up in another tab or table etc or the window suddenly gets minimized(it is not a virus.. it is the damn keyboard). I tried typing slowly to see if my fingers hit some other button by mistake but I don't see it .. even if it did.. what kinda button on the whole keyboard makes the cursor jump few lines back or few letters back or delete half of a word and start there. I really had to stop and type this extremely slowly like as if I was typing on a blackberry or something.. it is ****ing annoying as hell.. do I have to return this piece of crap now???

btw if you are interested it is a ACER ASPIRE AS5315-2848 LAPTOP PC(2.1GHz/1GB).

Preferred Solution: Laptop Keyboard driving me crazy

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Is it possible that you are without realizing it, letting part of you hand touch the touch pad while you are typing? This is a fairly common thing with touch pads on laptops. I have always disabled my touchpad and used a laptop mouse on my laptops for this reason and the fact that I don't like touchpads also.

A:My laptop keyboard is driving me crazy - keeps missing out letters and spaces!

Sounds like you need a new keyboard.

Try a different OS to see if the problem goes away. If it doesn't, it is a hardware problem.

Parted Magic disk partitoning tool (Bootable CD image)
If you prefer a bootable USB key, download and run Linux Live USB Creator. Choose the Parted Magic distro, and it will download it and automatically create a bootable USB key.

This CD (or key) contains many useful tools. You can partition, recover files, recover lost partitions, make disk images (by several different methods), transfer files between media, scan for viruses (It can serve as an Alternative Trusted Platform for search and elimination of rootkits and bootkits), examine and benchmark hardware, access the internet, and much more.

Two days ago my keyboard started doing this:

_"T6he 6house about 6h blocks down 5got 5g 5green bus6hes._"

what I actually typed:

"The house about 6 blocks down got 5 green bushes."

Also my control key now opens my windows media player. Worst of all, every time I type an "s" it opens a help tab!!! Imagine trying to type when every time you hit the s you would open a new tab!

Windows vista 64 bit
4gb ram
If you need any other info please ask. My typing frustration is too high to put anything else right now (i am having to paste every s!!)

I have a Compaq Presario 2570US laptop. Of late, whenever I type something, whether in MS Word, Search Engine Search Bar or even in this message etc, my computer DELETES (backspaces) what I type on its own. Sometimes it deletes a letter, a couple words or every darn thing I type.

Also when I am in Explorer, it would "back" to a previous page until it gets to the first page I was on.

When there are no windows open, the computer continuosly "beeps" like it is trying to backspace something.

I thought it was a virus, but newly installed Norton found nothing. I also thought it was a hijacker, but Xoft Spy found nothing.

I "restored" my system with the Restore System Discs and everything was normal/quiet for about a week and a half, or so, and then the problem started again.

Really frustratung, cause I cannot type what I want and I cant seem to find the problem

A:Help!!!! My laptop is going crazy (and driving me crazy too)

Hello Ralanders and welcome to TSF...

Couple of items you need in order to begin our process:

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Please download HijackThis http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/HijackThis.exe - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Get HijackThis Analyzer http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/KRC%...20Analyzer.zip and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in 'y' if you agree. The 'result.txt' file will open up in Notepad. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. You don't need to post the original hijackthis.log (unless we ask for it). Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

If you have a fast internet connection (broadband), run an online virus scan at TrendMicro http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/ente...all_launch.php. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the online scan.... Read more

Hi everyone, I am new to this site I hope you can help. For about the last 6 months my laptop keeps shutting down. First I kept getting messages saying windows is closing down this could be due to recent hardware installed(even though i have not installed anything) other messages saying that are checking file fat 32, other times it just shuts down with no messages, then i have problems trying to get it to come on again, on one occasion i turned it on and off 10 times, eventually it came back on. sometimes i can get it on for 2 days then it shuts down again. I havent been able to get it on for 3 days. I have tried holding down the on button, checked that theres no lose plugs cables, taken battery out put it back in again, re booting.
someone said take the back off and check for dust but i don't have the small screwdriver to open it. I have had 2 tech guys in work look at it, they said there is nothing wrong. PC world want 120 just to look at it. is there something i can do before i start paying out ridiculous s. It's a compaq presario 700 i have had it 4 years. I not technical at all, so if you can help please keep your answers simple. thanks.

A:Laptop is driving me crazy

Difficult to diagnose this from your description. I have seen Dell equipment behave like this and require a fix to the power control board but that is not quaranteed.
Avoid PC World and have a local shop look at it - the problem is that a new PC is not going to cost the earth today. If you need a totally relaible repair shop (in the east midlands) you could PM me.

I did a format and installation of Win98SE on a IBM Thinkpad 1400. After the installation it was clear that windows did not detect any video drivers. Since the owner could not find any driver disks. I went to the IBM webiste, downloaded a driver for the display adapter and followed their directions. This did not change the appearance. So I downloaded a video driver. This at least let the size of the display above 480 x 640. However, the only time the font is not fuzzy is at a display setting of 1024 x 768, however, the pictures are still not clear.

I ran a quick report from Everett and have posted it below. Any suggestions?

A:Laptop monitor driving me crazy!

All LCD screens need to be run at their "native resolution" for best clarity.

Probably that is 1024 x 768 in your case.

But you only have 8 bit (256 color) set. That will cause degradation of images.

Try 16 bit.

If you read that, you should get all the info that is up to date.
The fellow on that site was helping a lot, but I haven't heard from him since that last post and I REALLY need some help on this one. No offence to him at all, he was helping a tonne. I have no idea what's going on with my computer, and I literally might smash it soon, which I can't afford to do. Money's tight and I can't go spending on a whole new computer.

I may have mentioned in the other forum that my games would run if I ran them just off the battery of my laptop. That has changed as of late and for some magical reason, it's now crashing no matter how I play my games.

I'm looking into a new power cable for my laptop.
Would that fix anything, or just be a waste of money? Is this like a motherboard issue or what?
I just really need some help here.
If you can help, at all, I'd really really really really appreciate it.

Hi, I am new to this forum. Thank you for having me. I have a weird one for any of you computer gurus out there, a real brainteaser.

I have an HP Pavilion notebook model zt3000, running on XP. This problem occurred about six months ago, but I'm just getting around to fixing it now

Upon startup one day, the screen suddenly went black. However, it is not black all the time. If I hit F8 it will sometimes scroll some white numbers. It also flashes brightly if I do a hard boot shutdown. In short, I'm certain the screen itself is good.

It is not the hard drive either, as far as I can tell. I have taken the drive and put it in another laptop, and it runs fine.

Upon suggestion of a friend, I just replaced the video inverter board. No change.

I have read on other boards about older XP laptops sometimes having black display problems with larger, replacement HD's, if that drive is larger than 100GB. The drive I have in there now is 160GB (I think the orig. was around 40GB), but I ran it for months with no problem, then all the sudden -- POOF! -- black screen, and it has been that way ever since. Supposedly, or allegedly, you have to partition the new drive so that no single partition is larger than 100GB.

Does anyone have any insight into this weird dilemma? I really like this unit, and would like to get it up and running again.

I am willing to spend the time to diagnose and repair this on my own. I just need to run the proper diagnostics to find out what is broke... Read more

Hi all, new here. I don't know where to begin so I'll tell you from when I tried to uninstall Nero 11....
I had the trial version of Nero 11 on my laptop and realised that it took up over 1gb of space, and it was about 6 months past the trial date, lol. So I tried to uninstall it and omg what a farce! I could not uninstall it using the control panel> add/remove programs so I downloaded one of those programs which could help do it for you. I think it was CCleaner, or something like that..

While I was trying to uninstall Nero 11 I decided I was going to do a disk cleanup, and because I was in a clean up mood I decided to do a defragmentation (however you spell it) because I had recently read that it's good to do them at least once a month. It was my first time in 2/3 years of having my laptop :/

Somewhere down the line I think the defrag crashed so I restarted my laptop and googled how long it usually took. Some said 1-2 hours so I decided to do it when I went to bed, and leave my laptop on running doing the thing...

I woke up and my laptop was off (fgs lol) so I wasn't sure if it defraged it...

I then noticed my laptop froze,so I had to hold the power button and turn it off like that..

I started up again, did the same thing. Restarted and repeated for about 5 more times before I used my brain and started up in safe mode. I don't know if it's because I started up in safe mode or not but it seems to not crash..

I've googled to see wh... Read more

A:please help!!! - my laptop keyboard is going crazy!!!!!

You probably need to replace the keyboard - they are replaceable in most if not all all laptops. They are however not cheap and have to be order specifcally for your laptop model.

You can also buy an external PS/2 or USB keyboard and use that instead - this is the cheaper solution but maybe not the most convenient one.

The problem is very similar to others reported previously but I think that the cause is different.
Sometimes when a key is pressed, a random character that does not correspond to the one I pressed is printed on the screen (it could be more than one and/or they are printed continuously) like when a liquid is spilled on the keyboard.
I have noticed that this happens specially when the laptop is left for a couple of hours without activity. Rebooting (and turning it on after some days), unplugging the battery, formatting does not work and I am pretty sure that is not a virus or liquid spilled problem.
However the problem is solved when I run a memory diagnostic with the Memtest86+ software; after one or two passes I reboot the computer and the problem is gone, but if I leave it alone for some time the problem returns.

I will appreciate any help regarding to detecting and solving the problem; if more information is needed please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Relatively ignorant on this problem. I have a gigabyte GA 7zx motherboard with an 800 duron chip. Have a PNY nvidia graphics card and have recently put in a Diamond DT-688 sound card. As in the post below I can't get recording to work with the mic. I tried reinstalling the drivers again and now I am getting a message which reads, "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive\Device\Harddisk2\DR5"

I haven't a clue what this means since I don't know how to put a disk in a harddisk. Any ideas?

A:Crazy message is driving me crazy

Well its probably reffering to some kind of storage device you are using, if you have any beside One EIDE harddisk...

What's the Operating system you're working with? Do you have 2hardrives or a zip drive or something? A SCZI drive perhaps? Are you trying, albeit inadvertantly, to record on your CDRW drive?

Hi guys, my keyboard is constantly turning on and off the shift key on its own in an unpredictable manner. It makes typing extremely annoying and interferes with operating windows on my laptop.

Not sure if it's the laptop hardware itself is the issue or something else like a virus etc, because the problem is replicated using the on-screen keyboard and external keyboard as well.

I've ran an Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus scan and everything seems to be OK. Any help or advice will be highly appreciated. The laptop is a LEnovo Thinkpad E420, thanks.

A:Laptop keyboard is acting crazy

Could be due to sticking keys. First thing I'd suggest is to turn the computer upside down and firmly tap the underside to try dislodging debris which might be under the keys. Laptop keyboards are capable of catching lots of unwanted treasures inside.

Ok, so i built this computer about 9-10 months ago. i have had this problem from the very first boot up and i have yet to figure out what it is.

I realized it for the first time when i started playing WoW. Every few minutes, my computer freezes up and the sound starts stuttering. This will go on for 4-5 seconds then normal play will resume. This gets very annoying, especially in PvP.

I get the same problem with all the high-end games i play: Half-life 2, UT 2k4, etc. I can play the original half-life and other older games with no problems at all.

Also, when i try to rip music CDs to my harddrive, using either windows media or iTunes, my sound starts stuttering like it does in-game and i get the infamous blue screen of death.

The BSoD gives me this error:

STOP: 0x0000009c (0x00000004, 0x80545FF0, 0xB2000000, 0x00070F0F)

im not quite sure what that means...

My specs:
AMD Athelon 3400+
GeForce 6800
1 GB of Geil ultra RAM

Several months ago when I shut the computer down the light indicating hard drive activity would go out but the power light would stay on. I turned the power off using the switch on the power supply. When I attempted to restart the computer it would not boot up. I decided to do a clean install using the OEM disk that I purchased when I built the computer several years ago. I went through the steps of doing a clean install and the installation would get to the "completing installation" step and after a couple of minutes the screen would go black. I tried to use the Windows disk to do a start up repair several times. The process would show that Windows 7 was installed and all of the repair sets were successfully. I tried new hard drives and downloaded an ISO file from Microsoft. I read someplace that the ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe, which was the motherboard I was using, would not run windows 7. I had used this motherboard for about 8 years running window 7 but I decided to replace everything except the video card and solve my problem. Now with a new motherboard, new CPU, new memory and a new power supply, I am still having the same problem. The installation is normal until it attempts the last restart and it dies. I have decided it is me that is causing the problem but I do not know what I am doing wrong and must be repeating my error each time I try to do a clean install.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

this is driving me crazy and nobody seems to understand what's wrong....

Since a few days, for some misterious reasons, when I go to hotmail login page, I put my user ID and password, I press log in and I get the blank page....
Then I put this following proxy server, it's just a free random one, u103n202.hfx.eastlink.ca and sometimes I succeed to log in the internet, other times not.
Does anyone have an explanation?

Hello cyclonesdmr and welcome to the BC malware forum. After reviewing your log I see a few items that require our attention. Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.Step #1Download CCleaner and install it but do not run it yet.ImportantYour copy of HijackThis needs to be in a folder of it's own. If it is run from Temporary folders the backups and HijackThis itself could be accidentally deleted if the Temporary folders are cleaned. If it is run from the desktop then the backup files and folders can clutter up the desktop and be accidentally deleted. If it is run from inside a compressed file then the backups are not created at all. Please open My ComputerDouble-click on Local Disk (C:)Click on the File menu, point to New and then click on Folder. Name the folder 'HijackThis' or 'HJT'.Unzip to or copy and paste HijackThis.exe to the new folder (do not run HijackThis directly out of the sfx or compressed file).Step #2Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:Restart the computer. As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the boot menu appears.Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.Press the Enter key.Step #3Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:O2 - BHO: SDWin32 Class - {14F780A5-0519-4D60-AAF2-CD50AAC84935} - (no file)O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4A25D449-2BAA-4426-A992-D18CA70CF5A9} - (no file)O2 - BHO... Well, here's the deal. Over the past week, we've run all the good free programs (AdAware SE, Spybot, and I even tried Microsoft's Anti-Spyware.) All of the programs detected and cleaned various things, including:eXact.BargainBuddy, SurfSide Kick, osoa.exe, Adware.ZioCom.B, eXact.Downloader, CashBack, Bullseye Network, Media Tickets, CDT Software, 1800Solutions, E2Give, Midaddle, Searchmiracle.EliteBar, and MANY others.Eventually, after running all the programs, they all come up clean, but the pop ups and ads come back. There's something missing, but we're not sure what. (It's not my computer, as it's someone else in the office, so I'm not sure what's going on down there.) I have XP Pro, Athalon 800 cpu runningat 1.05ghz, 768MB Ram (not DDR), 2 hard drives. My perplexing problem is the cpu takes almost all the usage whenever I do anything. It will max out while I've still got 400+mb of ram not touched? I've tried reducing the page file, but it shows the change I make (min 2mb max 8mb) but still alocates 1149mb total memory available???? Help, I'm over my head with this.

When you do a ctrl-alt-del to bring up the Task Manager, under processes, which one is taking all this cpu time?

A copy/paste of the HijackThis Scanlog might also be helpful in identifying problems:

I'm having a problem loading the motherboard software - using the express installer. Its an Intel board that claims to have USB 2.0 type ports, however after I had the OS installed etc. I pluged in my iPod only to get an error saying I had a fast device plugged into a slow port.
I then remembered I had forgotten to install the MB software, aso I tried to install using the Express installer CD that came with the board. This got about 50% through and then put the system into shutdown, upon re-start you get to the windows start up screen and then nothing, you never reach the login screen.
So I decided to start at the beginning again and re-loaded the OS. So I was back getting the same USB error. Then I tried installing the MB software manually (as recommended on the Intel site) but again I have the same issue. So to get anywhere I need to install the OS again.
What am I doing wrong?
Do I need to get the MB software loaded first? and if so how do I wipe the HD in order to do that.
With the OS installed how do I install the MB stuff and get the USB ports functioning properly?

A:its driving me crazy!!!

The reason why you are getting the message is because your motherboard might not support USB 2.0 speed.

Read this forum http://forums.techguy.org/t340223.html and you should be able to find out whether your motherboard can support USB 2.0.

Hi all. I've been reading this site for quite a while and have solved many computer issues with your advice. However, this one is driving me crazy. I have a Dell 1501 Inspiron Laptop. Here's the issues I'm having.

1) Keyboard Lag (on and off) 2-3 second lag
2) Can not shut down, restart, or hibernate XP from the start menu. I have to use the power button to shut down.
3) Screen saver will not work
4) Internet explorer 8 will stop responding after being online for 5-10 mins

Suspecting a virus/malaware these are the programs I have already run:
1) Symantic Anti-Virus
2) Spybot Search and destroy
3) Malwarebytes
4) SmitFraudFix
5) Combofix
6) Superantispyware
7) AVG 2011 Free edition
8) CCleaner

I am out of ideas. Please help. The next step I would have tried was Dr. Web Cureit.

A:XP Driving me Crazy.

Have you tried a clean install?

The symptoms you describe...don't seem to be typical malware symptoms, IMO...while they do seem to indicate that your O/S is not performing as it should.

Go here and do another online virus scan.

Hello all! Nice to meet everyone. I am here because I really need some help. The pop ups on our new computer are driving us crazy. We recently purchased a brand new Lenovo ideacentre all in one type deal. Now, every time I open a new window I get a pop up asking me to download something like adobe or some other software that I don't need. Or it's a pop up trying to get me to buy a trial offer of some product. We also have floating pop ups all over the place. Like if I do a google search there will be an ad under the google name. Also, while I'm reading a web page there will be two little blue lines underneath certain words in the text and when I float over them expand into a link or pop up looking box. I read all of the sticky's and posted the logs from the directions here. I really hope someone here can help us...thanks!!!

I keep getting partypoker, winfixer and other random pop-ups which are driving me crazy. This happens even when I do not have IE running. Stupidly, I'd left my laptop on the other night with the volume up as I'd been watching a movie. At approximately 3am, I was awakened by someone shouting. After recovering from my heart attack, I realised that the shouting was coming from the computer. I need to get this crap off of my computer.

I use Zone Alarms firewall, Symantec AntiVirus along with Spybot, Spy Sweeper and Microsoft AntiSpyware and they all find nothing. I've read 1000 forums, tried using Virtumundobegone (which found nothing apart from the odd statcounter cookie) and have tried to analyse my own Hijackthis log but cannot see anything that is mentioned on the web (arggh - I just got another partypoker popup as i type this).

A:CiD ads driving me crazy

Hi, Welcome to TSG!!
You have two anti-virus programs running, which will cause trouble. Uninstall one of them.

Download OTS.exe to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named OTS on your desktop.

Close any open browsers.
If your Real protection or Antivirus intervenes with OTS, allow it to run.
Open the OTS folder and double-click on OTS.exe to start the program.
In Additional Scans section put a check in Disabled MS Config Items and EventViewer logs
Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
The program will be scanning huge amounts of data so depending on your system it could take a long time to complete. Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
Save that notepad file
Use the Reply button, scroll down to the attachments section and attach the notepad file here.

NOTE: The only people who can see attachments in the HJT forum are: the thread starter, Admins & Mods, and HJT Helpers & Trainees.
