Preferred Solution: I Love the Blue Screen of Death...computer shutting down all the time last 2 days

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

The PC runs fine otherwise...

A:Blue Screen Of Death 3 times past two days

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.
Checkmark the following checkboxes:  List last 10 Event Viewer log  List Installed Programs  List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
Click Go and paste the content into your next post.
Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy,  taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.
Go to Piriform's website, and download the free version on the left.  Click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.
After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.

Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course):

Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot.

When I start up windows, it randomly shuts down and goes to the bsod. Here is some of the error report:

I have the latest version of bios for my mobo.

System specs:

system memory: 3072 mb
720gb hard drive
Intel core 2 quad processor at 2.4 ghz

Model: m9150f HP Pavilion Elite

The blue screen of death seems to happen at random times, although it just started happening.

The only thing i have changed recently is installed java development kit, but that has already been uninstalled as i thought that was the problem. Even with the uninstall, I still get the bsod.

EDIT: I also have an Nvidia 8800GT which runs really hot, but i have a fan blowing on it to cool it.

Maybe its the card that is faulty?

ok now im getting BSOD on my winXP sp3. It happens when i played a game (only a specific demo though) and the BSOD tells me the system file igxpdx32.dll is the error. Just installed my Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family after many years. i have the file to return to a previous driver but i am just not gonna take any chances. What on earth causes this issue? also i cannot risk the BSOD becuz i had 2 unplug my pc becuz it knocked out my keyboard and mouse (another issue i have had way before this, it'll be in another post).

Hello guys. I use Windows 7 Home Premium in a Samsung R440 notebook and here are my issues:

I used to have some stuff that were identified by avira antivirus as TR/FakeAV.hah.25, TR/Dldr.OpenConnection.NH.4, EXP/JAVA.Ternub.Gen, JAVA/Dldr.Lamar.BD. I've noticed I got these objects after using jdownloader. By that time, my windows hosts file had been changed, and I managed to adjust it manually after removing the virus. Also I had noticed a BSOD which said something like "BUG_USB_DRIVER", but haven't done nothing about that.

Well, my problem now is that my computer keeps shutting down all the time without any warning. Sometimes my network card deactivates by itself and when I try to reboot windows, it freezes at the logoff window. I've seen another BSOD a couple of times with the message "irq_not_less_or_equal". Right now I was checking problem devices on system information and found that: "SBRE ROOT\LEGACY_SBRE\0000 This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed." I really don't know if these problems are virus-related, driver-related or both and will really appreciate any help.
Many thanks,
barrios.

For some reason, I'm having a rare and unusually computer problem, my computer is a dell Inspiron 530s.so I turn on my computer log on like I usually do, noticed something was not right, it was VERRY lagy, logged in and there was no data lost, (thinking that a virus had got in) so I scanned my computer with AVG 2013, picked up nothing and I did a disk defragment, and then did a corrupt file scan.. None of these options worked.. I backed up all my data, and booted up the windows DVD disk and even that was laging. (When I move the mouse it lags) and from experience with other desktops I formatted the hard drive.. And installed windows once again on it.. Now I got a error, it said something like this "windows cannot access the hard drive" so I then deleted all the partitions and created just 2 partitions the 100mb partition for the reserved, and the installation partition (total hard drive size: 1tb ) and I tried again I received a different error, it said "one of the installation cabinet files are missing, I brought a new windows 7 DVD disk and I retried and same error, I found a spear hard drive and had the same error and brought a new DVD drive and same error, after formatting the whole hard drive (1tb) it successfully installed, and as I go to transfer the first files from the USB I back it up to, the computer freezes and crashed into blue screen of death, it reboots and is still lagy and now it just crashes to blue screen of death when I multitask to about 3 ... Recently my dad's computer has been acting weird. When he tried to turn it on. Nothing would move. I just unplugged it and everything worked fine. It was weird because it had never done that before. So a few days pass. It did it a second and third time. Now we get to today (he was in the middle of sending e-mails, he says things started to slow down and he had to restart the computer that's where it all started) and he gets the normal information boot screen...the windows xp logo. Then a blank screen followed by a few second flash of a blue screen with an error message.

Now whenever you turn it on you go to the safe modes and normal start screen it has a counter that counts down from 30sec.

Now the message doesn't stay on the screen so I couldn't read what it says. I took a video of it to see if I could read it but it came out fuzzy but here is what I think it says...

Stop: _________ _______ _________ Failure).
the registry cannot load the _____ (file):
(some file name)
or ____ log or alternate
It is corrupt, damage, or not writable.

__________ dump of physical memory
Physcial memory dump complete.
Contact your system administrator or techincal support group for further _________.
So what is wrong? Why is it doing this? Can it be fixed? Also we lost our Windows XP boot disk and installation disk. Is there a way to download it from the microsoft website?

The problem: My computer crashes several times a day, the errors seem to vary, I've perceived no pattern behind the crashing.

I've been using the computer for word processing, watching dvds and playing games (mostly battle for middle earth 2).

What I've done to fix it: Nothing. I've never built my own computer before so this is all new to me.

I have had this hp envy for about 4 to 5 months now. Off and on the blue screen of death occurs with the same error critical process died. i have had this problem since February and it has been off and on. I tried to fix this about a month ago. It seemed to be working for about a month until last night. I notice that this happens most consistently when i have the computer off and i plug the computer in and turn on the computer. it usually happens a few minutes after startup. If i plug in the power chord while im using the computer the error never comes up usually. Like i said, the only time it happens consistently is when i plug in the power chord before i turn on the computer or bring it out of sleep mode. the blue screen also comes up when i plug in the power chord during startup. i have run the system scan command line and everything seems fine. i have also done a quick hardware scan and everything is fine. i have considered doing a full hardware scan to see if there is anything. I don't think that updates are an issue. i just also updated all the drivers last night as well. my last plan is to do a system recovery if all fails. hopefully you guys might have some ideas. Thanks!!!

Hi. I just finished my first build about 3 months ago, and everytihng was nice and dandy until NOW I start getting the blue screen of death. It says something like error dxgmms1.sys driver_irql_not_less_than_or_equal. I did just some limited resarch on the net, and people are saying that I should try to update my drivers. I updated the video card driver, I`m pretty sure I got the latest motherboard bios, and W7 says no current updates available. Now the last time it happned to me I was watching a movie so I figured it might be the video card? But on the net people say I should run memtest. So i did and while it was running it killed again?. So is the RAM or the video card, how can I find out? Any help is appreciated.

Hi there,

please try to run a FRST scan from Recovery Environment. That may help diagnose the problem:

On a clean machine, please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to a flash drive.Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Plug the flashdrive into the infected PC.
If you are using Windows 8 consult How to use the Windows 8 System Recovery Environment Command Prompt to enter System Recovery Command prompt.
If you are using Vista or Windows 7 enter System Recovery Options.

To enter System Recovery Options from the Advanced Boot Options:
Restart the computer.
As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until Advanced Boot Options appears.
Use the arrow keys to select the Repair your computer menu item.
Select US as the keyboard language settings, and then click Next.
Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
Select your user account an click Next.
Note: In case you can not enter System Recovery Options by using F8 method, you can use Windows installation disc, or make a repair disc. Any Windows installation disc or a repair disc made on another computer can be used.
To make a repair disk on Windows 7 consult: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2083-system-repair-disc-create.htmlTo enter System Recovery Opti... Read more

Looks like faulty RAM, at least that's my first idea given the 0x1E error (KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED) and the first parameter is 0xC0000005 (STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION). A STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION usually occurs when something tried to access memory and the result was not what was expected. An exception is thrown BUT the problem that caused the exception to be thrown isn't something the kernel can deal with so it tosses up a BSOD with 0x1E K(ernel)MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.

Download MemTest86+ Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool and run it at least five times from start to finish and report back.

Hello,
I get a BSoD soon after startup with either:
"PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGE_AREA" (0X00000050)
or
"BAD_POOL_CALLER" (0X000000C2)

I get this when trying normal startup, all safe modes, and even when booting from XP CD and trying repair install.

I have not added any new hardware or software.

Things I have tried:
1) removing all RAM, putting in 1 stick at a time, trying all 4
2) running memtest86 from BARTPe (test passed with all 4 sticks installed)
3) running chkdsk (both hard drives passed)
4) removing all hardware that I could
5) putting in a new video card
6) running a virus scan from BARTPe with very recent update
7) exhaustive search of these stop screens online

Right now, I am willing to wipe the harddrive clean and do a clean install, but I only have a "reinstallation CD for Win XP Home, SP2" disk (Dell computer). I dont think this disk will allow a new install. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,
Frank

Hi,

I'm new to these forums and my knowledge of computers isn't substantial.

I've been trying all day to find a solution to this problem that has suddenly plagued my laptop.
(it's so bad i am having to use a pc to reach this forum)

I have noticed a dramatic slowdown in the every day running of my laptop.
Specs are: 256MB Ram, Time, Windows XP, 40gb HD, 2600+ athlon processor.

Suddenly it took literally 10 minutes to start up and even opening a program or internet page would start and stop over a long period of time.

Then when it slowed down completely, the infamous blue error screen appeared.

At first it described the error as "Kernels"

After this it came up with s3gnb.dll (which is a component of my graphics card - prosavage DDR)
Since then it's also come up with atapi.sys as the problem.

This happens everytime i start up the computer.

I've also noticed when starting up, for a brief second it says "invalid boot.ini file". If this has anything to do with it?

I have literally not installed any new software or hardware that would have caused this problem to suddenly manifest. Nor have i tampered with the computer in any unconventional way.

Please help, i will try to provide any extra details if needed. As you can appreciate though, right now i am being compounded with different blue error screens all saying something different.

I honestly do not know why this would suddenly occur, i obviously fear loosing t... Read more

okay i have a major problem on my pc and time is crucial being as i have a final paper due and i was just about finished writing it when all this happened. Okay to the best i can i will try to explain what has happened, all i know is that my brother downloaded a Gamescreen capture thing to take pics and video of w/e game your playing, he got it from Filehippo.com to my knowledge has always been a pretty upscale, legit, clean website. However he said when he went to start it he all the sudden got the BSOD and from then on it has just been a constant battle that hasnt stopped. everytime you go to let it start it makes it to the xp loading screen the flashes the BSOD and just freezes it doesnt restart it just stays there. However the BSOD has no adresss line which i though was odd. i have tried starting it in Debug mode, last known good configuration (all the modes that arent safe mode) and it freezes at the same place everytime and give the same message.

BUT..... in safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt and directory service mode and they all start without a single problem. i also can get on (in all those modes) as my normal account and the administrator (by pussing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice then logging on) and that works as well but never will it make it to the normal login screen.

i tried first by disabling just about all the services which kinda helped uninstalling alot of crap and then disabling a bunch more stuff like the cd emulators and wha... Read more

A:Major problem!! BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!!! Time is of the essence

Hi,

Please boot into safe mode with networking and download the following file:

If the program reboots itself, boot back into safe mode even if normal mode now loads, so it will create a log:

Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1
Link 2

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

* IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

I am writing because my ASUS K95VJ laptop (running Windows 8 x64) has recently started blue-screening on a whim. I consider myself to be a very competent PC user, but I confess that this is somewhat outside my area of expertise.
I can't honestly remember what I was doing when the first BSOD occurred five days ago, but I do know for certain that it was the very first BSOD this machine had ever encountered. I have experienced ten since then, with varying BugChecks; upon analysing the system minidumps in WinDbg, I have encountered the following BugCheck codes:

Hello! I have been having a problem with my PC as of late. It is a 64 bit Windows 7 system. My computer the last few days has been turning on and off by itself. Then when I tried to enter safe mode I got this stop error: A problem to your computer has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFOSTOP 0x00000074  Because of this and the frequent shut downs it might be difficult to get logs. Thanks for your help in advanced.

A:Computer keeps shutting down with a blue screen.

Just so you know, now I cannot log into my computer at all. Goes straight to the blue screen with the original stop code. I will try to figure out as much as I can. It also doesn't shut itself off anymore it just stays in on the blue screen. I am going to give my answers in blue below.

· OS - Windows 8.1, 8, 7, Vista ? Windows 7· x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? x64· What was original installed OS on system? Windows 7· Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)? It is the OEM version.· Age of system (hardware) : Pretty close to five years old.· Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? I have never re-installed the system since I gotten it. So its about as old as the computer itself which is 5 years old.· CPU:  Intel e5788 Pentium slgth costa rica 3.00ghz/2m/800/06. The metal casing around it says Lotes.
· Video Card -  The brand is AMD. I don't remember the exact model but here's the serial number: H120647673

· MotherBoard - The brand is kind of weird but it says something like c SU us e219782 but it could also be 686 AMIBIOS YO04 1 1 7 5. It shipped with the PC.

· Power Supply - brand & wattage: 400w model: AP-450X12V PART NO: ATPXPW400DELL. The brand says StarTech.com.

Hello, I recently purchased a new computer. It is a Toshiba Satellite laptop. Everything has been great so far but today my computer suddenly gave me the blue screen saying that there was a problem with my hardware. I didn't have a chance to write the code down because it automatically restarted. I don't understand what the problem could be because I've barely done anything with the computer so far and I've done regular checks for viruses. Should I be bringing it back to Futureshop? I just passed the return date by like 2 days so I guess all they could do is try and fix it but I have no idea what they would do?

This is what happened to my last computer except when the blue screen came up, my computer wouldn't restart. I'm worried. I'm a student and just spent all my money on this and they promised that it was a good computer for longevity because it has the newest processor.

Please Help!!!!!!

A:Blue screen of death and new computer

You could try a complete system recovery, provided you have a backup copy of your important data.

If you don't have a backup of your important data, you can feel warm a cozy because you are in a group of about 99% of all consumers. You can take the computer to a local shop for data retrieval. Last I checked was 14 months ago; Geek Squad charged $119 for retrieval of data provided it was done with a system recovery (another $99), for a total of only $238.

A:Blue screen of death to my computer

Is there a path given to that? I don't know how to figure out what it is.

Are you able to start in Safe Mode with the Blue Screen error?

If not, post the full error parameters and driver file if mentioned.
If so,

I can run a debugging utility on the dump files if you do this:

1 > create a new folder on the desktop and call it "dumpcheck" or whatever you like
2 > navigate to c:\windows\minidump and copy the last 2 or 3 minidump files to that folder. They are numbered by date.
3 > close the folder and right click on it and select "Send to (folder name).zip"
4 > use the "manage attachments" in the "advanced" reply window to upload that zip file here as an attachment.

This might point us to a 3rd party driver causing the error, if one exists for it.

Ok, so about a month or so back I started getting the blue screen of death crash. I've never before have had that happen to me on any other computer, seriously.

It happens sporadically and the STOP: information is always different. From BAD POOL CALLER to IRQL NOT EQUAL... ETC.

I have a HP Pavilion with an Intel 2 core.

So two days ago I decided to just recover back to factory settings because I couldn't figure out the problem. I thought that would help.

It hasn't and still does the same thing as before.

Please help.

A:Computer Shutting Down and a blue screen appearing

Can you explain further as to what happened?

Did you install any new drivers or something like that?

That error could happen because of defective memory, malware etc...

BTW, XP will be unsupported soon and even Chrome has stopped support for XP (like many other programs) so it's a good idea if you could upgrade to Windows 7. You will be at a greater security risk as well.

Every now and then (probably once every two days) my computer will all of the sudden shut off, and a loud, steady, high-pitched tone will sound until I press my power button. Sometimes even this won't stop it and I have to flip the power switch on my power supply. If I turn my PC back on right away I get the following Blue Screen error:
Code:
Stop: C000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000402 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down.
However, once I turn my PC off, if I leave it off for a few minutes, it will come back just fine. I did some reasearch on this error and found microsoft's solution to it. It says it has something to do with a file that is trying to be renamed, but can't due to it still being in memory. It listed a fix for it, but the fix didn't make any since. One, I don't think I need to do a parallel installation of my WinXP Pro, because I am guessing that the problem they are describing is for people who can't load windows at all. So about 2-3 times a day during random computer usage (internet, ms word, etc.) my computer will suddenly begin pixelating and a second later show a blue screen filled with words. The blue screen is up for about 1 second then the computer blacks out and restarts.
It takes about 10mins for it to get back to normal (regular desktop screen) then it will either:
A: Let me use it like normal until it crashes again later on.
B: Immediately crash again anywhere from 2-5 times repetitively.
This has been happening for a couple of months but has gotten progressively worse in the amount of times it crashes. It?s a bit annoying to wake up and have all my homework, browsers or projects closed out every morning.
I have researched the problem but nothing seems to be helping, I?ve tried a few virus/malware removers but it either comes up clean or just erases something that doesn?t seem to be the one I?m looking for.
Any type of help or suggestions is highly appreciated, thanks!

After actively using my computer pretty much all day so far, I just restarted, and it won't boot up past the XP splash screen. It won't boot in any mode, with any options. The blue screen prompt says "unmountable_boot_volume" and rather than diagnosing this myself on google, this seems like a pretty serious problem I'd like to get some actual feedback on. For some additional information, the computer is a Dell, less than 3 years old, and hasn't had any problems with BSoD in the past. Thanks in advance for replies.

A:Computer won't boot, only blue screen of death.

This behavior can occur if either of the following conditions is true:

Your computer uses an Ultra Direct Memory Access (UDMA) hard disk controller, and the following conditions are true:
You use a standard 40-wire connector cable to connect the UDMA drive to the controller instead of the required 80-wire, 40-pin cable.
The basic input/output system (BIOS) settings are configured to force the faster UDMA modes.

The file system is damaged and cannot be mounted.
The purpose of this error message is to prevent the following two things:

Potential data loss caused by using an incorrect IDE cable for the faster UDMA modes. An IDE cable is a kind of cable used to connect storage devices, such as hard disks, inside a computer.
Continued access to a drive on which the file system is damaged
Method 1: Repair the volume

Note the second parameter (0xbbbbbbbb) in the error message. You might have to regenerate the error in order to write it down.

If the second parameter (0xbbbbbbbb) of the Stop error is 0xC0000032, the cause of the error is that the file system is damaged. You can try to repair the volume to see whether this resolves the error. If the second parameter is not 0xC0000032, see "Method 2: Check the IDE cable and load Fail-Safe settings" for help. Some things that you should know before you try this solution

If the file system is damaged, you can use chkdsk /r command to repair the volume. However, if you use the chkdsk /r command, you may lose some data.
