MSN Messenger goes into sign-out mode...

Q: MSN Messenger goes into sign-out mode...

Hi...When I sign on to MSN Messenger 6.1, it works OK, but after a few minutes of being idle, it goes into a 'signing out' mode and the only way I can back into it, is by rebooting. I just installed the MS Win Security Update, Feb 2004 and in the same package, there was a freebee antivirus and firewall software (EZ Armor LE) which I installed too. Could these be the cause of my problems?? I would appreciate any suggestions how I can get back to using Messenger normally. My OS ..win98 se...IE 6

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

All I get is "signing in" and after a long wait it goes to a troubleshooting page - any ideas?

related to my other post - i thought i'd clarify it again, because i still can't get rid of it. how do i get rid of the SIGN IN bit? With that bit, if you press sign in, you can automatically get into my MSN Messenger list. I want it to automatically prompt me for the e-mail address and password. How do you do that?

can anyone help me? I've been having this annoying problem which i can't connect no matter what messenger i use
not even skype, sometimes im luckier when im signing in on MSN, even YM won't let me sign in, even trillian! when i can't log in on msn, i try to choose the troubleshoot option, and it says that the problem is with the firewall. i turned off my firewall and my anti-virus and i still can't connect
another computer connected to the same router can't connect too.. is it a router problem?

A:Cant sign in on any messenger

Yes, is the firewall problem but it's router firewall not your personal. Try to disable your router firewall or add some more rule allowing all port for MSN, Skype, YM.

i have this problem lately, i try to sign into windows live messenger, and halfway through the process, a window appears on the screen saying that the program can't sign in at this time, it suggests i might have a problem with my firewall or proxy settings. i used to sign in just fine but i did some changes in the registry due to some other issue i had, not all the changes were very knowingly, that might be the cause, i don't know. anyway, it shows error code: 80048820 extended error code:80048416. when i run the troubleshoot tool it shows that there are problems with the host files and the keyports.

So this might sound a little lame, but my msn won't sign in on the desktop. I just rebooted after having done an auto update and msn just sits there in the process of signing in (it doesn't crash, though). Works fine on the laptop and when I try signing in on the desktop while signed in on the laptop, it disconnects me on the laptop, saying that I've signed in on a different machine. Which is fine, except that it still hasn't signed in on the desktop - it's as if it's halfway in between. When I try the reverse, it signs in fine again on the laptop and on the desktop I get:

'Signing in to the Windows Live Messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.

Error code: 81000323'

Going into the connection settings on messenger shows everything is connected fine (including .NET). I tried 2 different versions of messenger: 8.0.0812 and 8.0.0729 (I think). Same prob. Tried reinstalling both; tried rebooting - nothing.

Sometime ago, i can't date the point in time i tried to use msn messenger, however at random my msn messenger stopped working. I'm not sure exactly sure, i just can't sign in anymore. I looked in the connections, and ran the test. It's good up to the point it tries to reach the Proxy. So, i'm thinking it can't go online... I go further, to repair the problem and it sais that it can't open Internet Explorer. However, this browser is not blocked. So I reinstall the program only now it's Windows Live Messenger and the Windows Live Mail. Both have the same problem, they can't connect.

I can't decipher the problem, i'm only guessing that, it's not seeing the wireless connection. I'm not sure about this. Any Help??
I deleted the Microsoft > MSNMESSENGER on the regedit... still nothing..
MSN error code... 80048820
Extended code 80048439

Solved: The problem was that proxy server needed to be checked for automatically detect settings instead of a set address.

Hi Guys

I was trying to register with Windows Messenger (Windows Live ID). One of the entries is my e-mail address. I entered it properly, but when I finished with the page, it returned with this message:
"The portion of your e-mail address that follows the @ symbol is part of a "reserved domain" such as live.com, hotmail.com, msn.com or passport.com. Please type a different e-mail address"

I know I entered my address correctly (tried it several times). Any thoughts?

4 days ago I got signed out of WLM and when I tried to sign back in I got the message "We can't sign you into WLM ... service is unavailable 8100030d." Since then everytime I've tried to log in I get the same message.

I did some searching and found a few things but nothing worked.

I tried turning it off and on again
I uninstalled and re-downloaded messenger
I have the newest version of messenger
I created a new account but still couldn't log in with that.
My Date/Time is set to the correct time
I disabled time zone alarm
WLM is allowed though my firewall
I can log into my hotmail online and sign into webmessenger

I read something which said to register some dll's but when I did I got another error.

"The module MSXML3.dll was located but the call to DLLRegisterSever failed with error code 0x80070005."

"The module wintrust.dll was located but the call to DLLRegisterSever failed with error code 0x80070005."

"The module initpki.dll failed to load ... The specified module could not me found."

Any ideas of what I have to do to make it let me log in again?

(i'm using Vista home premium on a laptop btw)

i had the same problem with the windows messenger. it's built into outlook or outlook express or both so everytime you open email it would load and then won't let you unload it. there are settings that supposedly make it not open but, they didn't work for me. the only thing i found that worked was an add-on to lavasoft's ad-aware spyware software. the software is pretty popular and seems to work well (it's downloadable from the lavasoft web site, both free and pay versions). if you already have their spyware software, just download the messenger control add-on and activate it. no more messenger. yay!

I have contacted "MSN Messenger Live tech support" on two occasion and both have gotten me to do the same processes. I have followed step by step and still same problem.

These are the steps I have taken:

remove every user and password stored in your computer
remove your user credentials of the computer
delete any old files and cache that may be causing a conflict in Windows Live Messenger:

delete any old files and cache that may be causing a conflict in Windows Live Messenger:
Restart your computer.

Register the Secure Sockets Layer
register your MSXML3
Reinstall MSXML3 library
reinstall Windows Live Messenger:
restart your computer

I did all of these steps twice and still the same outcome.

Hi all, just bought a new PC from Arbico in the UK. It is connected to the internet through my netgear router (wired). I have downloaded and installed Windows Live Essentials, but for some reason cannot sign in to WL Messenger. I get the "connecting" display, which eventually times out - usually to the error code 81000306, but not always that one. If I go to www.hotmail.com and use my windows live ID to sign in then I can access my hotmail, if I use the WL Messenger option in Internet Explorer I cn access my mail too, why is it then that I caano connect to Messenger the other way? I quite like having Messenger running in the background, that way when I am doing something else and I get mail, I see it right away. I am running Windows7 64 bit, IE 64 bit and the latest version of WLM. I have tried a couple of options posted be people in threads elsewhere (ie regedit, and deleting 2 key entries) but nothing seems to work. I have checked my windows firewall (and even turned it off briefly) and the firewall does not appear to be the issue. When my old PC is plugged into the same router I have no problems at all getting Messenger to work (using Windows XP), so that suggests to me that my router is not blocking it eitherRun out of ideas, if anone has any more worth trying please let me know!!(PS tried the fix suggested in these forums @ http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproinstall/thread/20c89fa2-4fbc-4ed8-8737-c7612f591cbe/ but with no success ... Hi,There are a lot of things to cause the problems. You can try the methods below:1.  you can clear your cache file. The specific steps are below:Delete ListCache.datLaunch CMD and navigate to %appdata%\microsoft.CD %appdata%\microsoftDir /s ListCache.dat Decide if you want to delete the cache.Del /s ListCache.dat Restart your MSN Messenger.
2. Check your date and time setting. Is your time correct? In some case, if the time is correct, msn won’t all you to sign in.
3. Change the MSN settings.1. Open the tools and choose options.2. Choose connections and clear all HTTP and SOCKS information in it.3. Click OK.
4 Disable the Auto Tuning Networking feature on Windows 7.
1.Open Command Prompt as administrator.2.Type the following at Command Prompt and then press Enter to disable the Auto Tuning Networking feature.  netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled Try to connect to MSN Messenger. If you still cannot connect, proceed to the next step. However, before proceeding, re-enable the Auto Tuning Networking feature by running the following command at Command Prompt.netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal

i have a big problem. It has made me reformat 4 times now. Here's the problem:
I bought new components and installed Vista Business 64bit, and everything worked fine, but then all of a sudden my browsers stop connecting (IE7 says "waiting for reply from www.google.com"), MSN messenger and Xfire can't sign in, none of my programs can update (including Windows Update), also, uTorrent can seed, but cannot update trackers. Oh, and i can ping any IP or site i want. Also, immediatly after Windows starts, i get a couple of seconds of everything working (Messenger and Xfire sign in, browser works,..., so it seems like whatever is causing my problem has to load itself and it doesn't do it while Windows is booting. One more thing, if i go into Safe Mode with networking, my connection works fine.
Please help if you can.

Each time I'm trying to sign in to MSN Messenger 7.5, the whole system freezes and I need to kill the programm using the task manager to unfreeze the system.

I've scanned for any virus with Avira AntiVir Personal Edition, Onlince TrendMicro HouseCall, Online Symantec VirusScan...

I've scanned for any spyware with Ad-aware and SpyBot 1.4...

A few days ago I had a freaking thing called SpywareQuake making a lot of pop-up. I uninstalled it using the Roguescanfix and smitRem files and instructions available here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic47826.html .

I have no router, a freaking powerful computer, tested my HDD with WD diagnostic, RAM with memtest, no problemo found...

When I google this problem, I can see that most people just started having this issue in june 2006.

EDIT: yes I saw the sticky post and went to the websites to find a solution to my problem...

Hello all,
This evening I tried to sign in to my Windows Live messenger account but each time I did, I was kicked off. A pop up window read that I had been signed out because the version of messenger I am using does not allow for me to be signed in at two locations. This started tonight when I tried to use a MSN app. on my IPHONE...I've since removed the app., but I thought I should mention that. Anyways, to fix the problem I first changed my password but the same message popped up and I was then kicked off. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the program, the problem persists. I've scanned for malware/spyware and nothing shows up. At the moment, I have windows live messenger uninstalled, but the lame, ancient version of windows messenger is still on my computer (the problem occurs when I use this version, too). I even made a new account and added my old one on MSN and it shows that my old account is signed on...But the ~person~ isn't talking to anyone, isn't sending out any emails and they haven't even changed my password on me. I've changed my password a billion times and this keeps happening. What's going on I've had my account for FOREVER, and do not wish to get rid of it.

I just upgraded to XP yesterday, and when I signed into MSN Messnger for the first time, I mistakenly clicked on "remember my password" or something along those lines. Now, anyone who is on my PC can sign into my account without a password. How do I change this? I've looked in the messenger menus and right clicked the icon and had a look, but can't find anything that applies. Help!

I'm running XP, and I got rid of Windows messenger and downloaded MSN messenger. I have disabled the "Allow automatic sign in when connected to the internet" option.

However, when i start messenger, my email address (Passport, whatever) is the default one shown, and when I click to sign in, it still signs me in automatically, without asking for my password.

Anyone have any ideas how to stop this?

Windows XP has this option to store your .NET Passport information so you can access MSN Messenger easily.

I'm not at my computer at the moment (in school), so I can't help you further but try this, click on sign in as a different name, then uncheck the save password and log into MSN Messenger. Then log out or close the messenger program and restart and see if that helps.

My Msn messenger isn't working. . .I can sign on on other computers but not mine. . .same goes for hotmail. It says error code 0x81000370. And the troubleshooter finds no problems. I removed it and downloaded again but had the same problem. Hotmail says the "connection was refused".

What might cause this?
