I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When I access a website in MS Edge - like eBay - and want to delete an item in my watch list, eBay presents me for a message box, for me to confirm the removal by OK or Cancel. That window starts to flicker transparently. It only stops when I place the mouse pointer on the OK button. When I remove the pointer it starts flickering again.I have swept the Internet in effort to find a useful solution.Windows 10 and MS Edge is running on my Thinkpad.I hope someone could help - I have spent hours running in circles. Thanks, AndersPS. I forgot to mention that I am unable to reproduce the problem in Microsoft Internet Explorer (11) and Google Chrome!I know I could just use one on mentioned browsers but I would truly like to get to the bottom of this issue.

Hello, i noticed that when i'm turned on laptop to tablet mode (physically) wifi stops working or wifi signal becoming very low.  I'm using Lenovo thinkpad yoga 14. Maybe you have a solution for this problem?

Hi, welcome to the forums.

Can you please post the full model number of your Thinkpad Yoga 14?
Are you using Windows 10?

I may suggest you first to try to update the Wifi drivers and maybe some other of the system driver of you Yoga.
Here are my general tips:

1) Try first Windows Update and update all the drivers and Patches
2) Try Lenovo System Update to get any new/missing drivers.
3) Try to install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows App Store, Lenovo Companion also has a "update driver search"
4) Sometimes all that software does not recognize some updated / missing driver. Check Lenovo's Support Site and search for your specific model drivers (use the full model number of your Thinkpad).

After that we can try a little bit more. For example I also like to test it on some other Wifi networks just to be sure it is not a compatibility issue with the Wifi Router.

I have a T520 with Intel Centrino 6205 network card. I have ability to run Win 7 and Win 10. With Win 10, both 2.4 and 5Ghz SSIDs are available. With Win 7, I only see the 2.4 GHz SSID. I use Win 7 most of time, so would like to get this to work. The driver for the Centrino card appears to be 15.13.0.1 dated 22July2014. When I try and update from the Device Manager, it goes into an endless on-line search. Looking at this site, three driver options come up, but the numbers don't look like the one that is installed. The Intel Proset software version is 17.12.0 dated 2Oct2014. Questions:Is there a way to switch on the 5Ghz band in settings somewhere? If it is a driver problem, how to I find the correct driver?

Hello and welcome,

I believe that Gobi card is a WWAN card, not the wifi card.  Have a look around Device Manager for a wifi card - maybe as an unknown device.

Also make sure the switch (on the left front?) is turned on

Hi guys,I have a laptop which is a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E431 model running on Window 10 Pro OS. It is a Core i3-3110M CPU @2.40GHz 8GB RAM 64-bit OS. My issue is :WLAN / WiFi keeps going ON and OFF every now and then. The WiFi once connected keeps connecting and disconnecting every minute and it sometimes take forever to reconnect back. I will need to right-click on the WiFi Symbol at the bottom right and click on 'Troubleshoot problems' to recover from this issue. Once recovered, it disconnects again. Some Observations :The issue could be because of the conflict between the Bluetooth drivers and the WiFi drivers. If Bluetooth is disabled then the WiFi works correctly. There will be no problems regarding the WiFi getting disconnected. These are the following details of the hardwares and their respective driver versions. Network : Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless -N 2230Driver Version : 15.18.0.1Driver Date : 30-04-2015  Bluetooth : Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R)Driver Version : 18.1.1525.1445Driver Date : 18-06-2015 I have no idea why these two are causing this issue, but I really need to fix this. And it has been atleast a year since I bought this laptop and it has been showing this problem since 4 - 5 months back. Please let me know if there is a work around for this. If not atleast I hope the above information might help fixing the issue. If there is any additional information that is needed from me, please leave a m... Read more

A:No sound on Thinkpad T520

Troubleshooting Thinkpad audio - You have described a hardware problem with the T520. Download the hardware manual from Lenovo and determine if the headphone jack is part of a replaceable assembly and replace it if so. If the headphone jack is part of the system board the problem is more complicate to repair. You can go to Lenovo's site, plug in the full model number, like 5170-339, and locate the hardware manual--Lenovo's forum is the best place for help with a ThinkPad.

I've removed the i5 processor in a couple of T510 and 520 laptops and installed i7-640M or i7-2640M processors. Recently I installed an i7-2960XM which performed nicely. One problem though. I had some suspicions that this may not be fully compatible as it may create too much heat. With this in mind after I installed this processor I closely monitored the temperature and found that most of the time it remained between 115 to 165 ...... until I began loading down applications. The temp would soar up to near 200 degrees but would dwell shortly in the 175 range then drop down to 160 or 140.  Since then I've removed this cpu and will most likely go with the i7-2640M. The big question is wold the much faster i7-2960XM be compatible? I'm not fully convinced the program (Advanced System Care) is correctly monitoring the temperature. However I dare not risk damaging my system if this system is overheating. The performance increase of the faster cpu is very significant. Do I dare risk going faster?

A:T520 ThinkPad i7 CPU Upgrade

I would be more concerned with the power supply.  The i7-2960XM processor is a 55w CPU vs. 35W on the dual core model.  I know the 55w processors were only sold on the W520 and they got a bigger fan, also.  Something like an i7-2670QM (45W, quad core) would be less likely to overtax something.  The 45w quad core CPU was offered on the T520

Hi,
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T520 laptop and it is very slow to boot up. It has been like this for as long as I can remember, so I figured I'd ask a professional about it. Bootracer says it is taking around 5 minutes to boot, and it's extremely annoying. So annoying that I only restart my computer once a week or so.

I have no idea if this is a hardware issue, software issue, or both, so hopefully this is the correct forum to post in.

Some computer info:
Windows 7 Pro SP1
Intel Core i5-2520M @ 2.5Ghz
8GB DDR3 RAM
Toshiba 500GB hard drive, 5400RPM (130GB used)

Here are a couple of images from my Soluto report on the starting processes:

Please note that this problem has been going on way since I have installed Malwarebytes which shows a 60 second load time.

Any other information or test results that I can provide, I'd be more than happy to. I'm not sure if my 5400RPM hard drive is slowing me down greatly, or not.

Thank you in advance!

A:Thinkpad T520 Slow Boot

Addition: It also takes a while for it to resume from hibernate. Once it finally finishes booting or resumes from hibernation, the computer works great.

The best and easiest way to get your T520 up-to-date is to go to its product support page, T520 Laptop. Download and install ThinkVantage Technology -> Lenovo System Update. Then when you run System Update it will find all the latest drivers, utilities, etc. that your T520 needs and install them for you.

Ever since I upgraded my PC to Windows 10, the Lenovo Power Manager for my 2011 T520 hasn't worked properly.  With that, the fan completely stopped working. This hasn't been a problem until now since I'm usually at my desk with my laptop elevated a couple centimeters off of the desk using a baking rack with a large air purifier blowing air at the back - exactly like I always did, even before Windows 10.I recently nuked my computer and installed everything afresh, getting rid of all extraneous everything. However, I now use my laptop like it was intended to be used (not at a desk), and with the lack of external air cooling, it's getting REALLY hot, and I can't have my CPU hitting 80C on a regular basis. There are no options in the BIOS for the fan, and programs like SpeedFan don't even recognize the fan as being present.I tried using the Lenovo System Update tool, and even let it install all the recommended bloatware.  Even installing the old power manager didn't do anything. Windows Power Manager also can't seem to control the fan, either set to passive so the motherboard can take care of things, or active so that Windows can take care of things.Any suggestions on how to approach this problem?  Or will I just need to upgrade to a machine that is compatible with Windows 10? The other option is rolling back to 7 or 8, but I'm not doing that. I don't get the hate-on people have for Windows 10.  I'm split between two communities at odds: the h... I've noticed that when i wake up my T520 from the lid or sleep, I get a BSOD and Windows 10 immediately restarts. Now I'm curious, do you guys think it might have something to do with the T520 being incompatible with Windows 10 or maybe it has previous drivers from the T530 in that SSD that's causing this BSOD? I installed Ubuntu on an mSATA card in my T520, which is on the 4338-35U docking station connecting 2 external monitors via digital video cables. This dual-display works nicely for Windows 10. The only troule is, with this configuration, the power-on ThinkPad logo (where I can press the F12 key to select boot device) doesn't show on neither monitor and doesn't respond to my pressing on the F12 key. The Device Manager shows all drivers are installed. When power-on off the docking station, I can use the F12 key select boot device to go for either Windows 10 or Ubuntu (Linux). I need advice on how to get the boot device selection screen to show up when the laptop sits on the docking staion.

My good friend a thinkpad / lenovo from 2011 suddenly gives death screen, dead keyboard, dead camera. All when the lid is opened. If it is placed in docking with external equipment, everything works ok. I have tested everything possible through lenovo services without errors. The motherboard also provides a flawless return message. Since the problem covers both screen, keyboard and camera, it tells me that it must be a 'closed / open' contact that no longer works. Hope some help with some good hints so I can move on ????. At worst, I have to kill my old friend .. a big loss and not so good for the global environment Many greetings from Soeren Denmark .. good new year.
