Pavilion x2 Detachable cache manager issues

Q: Pavilion x2 Detachable cache manager issues

I am suffering from cache manager errors and windows bluscreen and rebooting. This is only 2 weeks old.Drivers updated and windows updated. which is a manual pain to do. Please advise. I still have not received an answer to previous message on getting any SD card to stay mounted, it simply vanishes but when I pull the sd card windows chirps unmount sound.Massive issues with both grove player and wmp trying to keep playing from SD card after 1 song it looses the sd card, and songs, ave different error codes from legcy to headers, no issues playing form any other windows 7 or windows 10 devices justthis oneEven a usb HD have issues with. Now BSD. I think the unit is just underpowered to surf the web while playing a song, if so it will be going back as unfit and full refund.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi this is my first post. Had this 2 in one for about a week, replacing a 4 year old acer aspire one netbook D270 which had upgraded SSD and over 8 hr battery life. I dropped it and cracked the screen but it was a great little device I used all the time. There is a lot to like with this unit, but a few things are a little fustrating. 1) Lost thunderbird and opera from taskbar for no apparent reason. I pin something I expect it to stay.2) I keep on deleting the HP help from taskbar as it keeps on showing a massive ? on the task bar but no new info, but afrer reboot its back showing help but nothing new. I dont want it.3) Inconsistent when I undock screen, I loose all input on the touch screen? Dock it back all is fine. This cant be right.4) Open some webpages no touch screen?.5)  I Keep on loosing SD card, even during playing music, suddenly stops and no SD. Pop it out and it makes unmounts noise, pop it back in all is fine for a short time like 2 songs then stops again saying file can not be found. Replaced the SD card and same issues. Are these known issues or something with my device. Jas

I have an HP Paviion x2 detachable device with two ports - USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 type C. The charger is connected to the last port. A. My question is, due to the lack of more ports, is it possible to connect a USB 3.0 type C hub to the USB 3.0 port (instead of the charger)?B. If yes, will it be still possible to charge the computer via the hub?  C. Assuming that it is a "Yes" for question A, which hubs are recommended? Best Regards,Tal Barak.

Hello all, I am trying to find a good stylus that will work for my sister's pavilion 10 x2. the model number is 10-N113DX. when i go to settings>system>about it states "Pen and touch support with 10 touch points". i didnt realize how many different types of active stylus/pens there were until i started looking into getting  one., and it turns out there are several different versions of the "Pavilion 10 x2". my sister is going off to school with this computer and needs a stylus similar to the HP active stylus for writing music/drawing. does anyone know of a stylus that will work or if the HP active stylus will work with this computer? any help would be appreciated!

Last night turned on to find it saying it was installing updates. Since then when turned on freezes but won't let me open or fix anything. Keep having to turn it off and on. No joy. Sometimes opens a blue screen. Message reads 'windows hasn't loaded correctly'. Option to reset won't work as says I need additional free space on the drive but can't open drive to do so. Start up repair can't diagnose a problem. Won't let me perform a system restore and won't let me create a restore point. Don't have a disc to use. Cannot open files or access internet on desktop. Completely stuck. Please help.

I have just bought this lkaptop and the hardware is nice, but I do not want to run Windows. Simple, I thought, as it's a PC, I'll just install Ubuntu. Well, the boot from USB is UEFI and that is a bit of a pain to set up, and I can't get it to work. The Ubuntu 14 install disk I burnt is an EFI boot CD and it simply fails to boot. Using the F9 option I get aBoot device failed message in white text on a blue screen. When I try to boot through the boot menus I get a missing file at \ubuntu\winboot\. I have just created a Windows recovery disk and that seems to boot fine. It looks like the BIOS/UEFI is set up to only allow Windows to boot. I've bought a USB DVD drive and failed to boot from that, also two memory sticks and a HDD. So, questions, before I put the laptop in the bin: 1. Has anyone else got Linux onto this device and if so what image and procedure did you use to get the install to work? 2 Is there a way to get legacy mode booting set up in the BIOS (The BIOS mentions legacy support in the screens but its not there).  Andrew

A:Linux on HP Pavilion x2 detachable PC 10

It seems that the hp x2 has a 32 bit uefi. So you'll need a 32bit uefi boot loader. Most distros I've seen just ship the 64 bit bootloader. There's a guy at debian who is trying to support this kind of thing - He's working on a netinst image for deb8. The current image he's published so far boots, but I can't get networking to work. Here's his blog (other good stuff there):http://blog.einval.com/debian/CDs Here's the deb image:http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/efi-development/jessie-upload3.Hth /markus

My device is 3 months old and I recently updated the BIOS through the HP assistant and am now receiving an error message close to 'CMOS checksum value is invalid. System will reboot with default values. Please check BIOS to see if any changes have occured (as close as I can remember)' System then boots OK. I am wondering what is causing this. Is the battery already dying? This has now happened three times in a week and also the clock is reseting itself to 05:00 everytime.

Hi there @bfeliciano86,  Before I provide troubleshooting documentation, I would like to take a minute to welcome you to the HP Support Community, where you can ask questions, find solutions and get help from others! I will do my absolute best to help you resolve the issue you are having with the black screen on your HP Pavilion x2 Notebook PC.  Note: please make sure that the AC adapter cable is not plugged into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source. It should be directly into a wall outlet. Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues. As silly as it sounds, did you happen to try removing dust from the cooling areas in a notebook?Have you connected the Notebook to an external monitor or TV? If you remove the notebook battery, plug the AC power cable back into the notebook, then turn it on, does it power the Notebook? Do you have any beep codes or blinking LED lights? Have you done a BIOS reset?Have you tried performing a hard reset?Have you tried to see if you can test for hardware failures? If the computer is on, do you hear the fan running? If so, but the display remains blank, please see Computer Starts but Screen Remains Blank. If you require further assistance, I would be more than happy to help! Please just re-post with the information required from above. Pleas... Read more

I purchased my laptop on 11/6/15 from Best Buy. When it is plugged in, it works fine but the battery was not charging. Unfortunately for me, it is now 1 1/2 months out of warranty. I brought it into Best Buy to have the battery replaced and it was sent to their servicing center. I just received a call from them telling me that my issue is Not my battery but with something on the motherboard that controls how the battery charges and the entire board needs to be replaced and it is going to cost me just as much to replace it as I paid for my laptop. This is absolutely obsurd!! The laptop is only 13 months old and has never been mishandled. When making the decision to buy a new laptop, I chose HP because I had such good luck with my old one that was 10 years old. Has HP quality gone downhill? And on top of it all, when I went to submit a question about this to HP support, it comes up with my laptop being out of warranty since August 2016 which less than a 1 year warranty. Now Im left with the decision to repair my 13 month old laptop and still have no protection if something else breaks or buy a new one with protection for the same price.

My pavilion is not respoinding properly. 1 month ago, the laptop/tablet locked after a hardware issue and needed a bitlocker key to open it. After some time finding it and a few problems from microsoft, the laptop was in working order as of yesterday. However, the audio was missing (I assume that's why the laptop locked itself?? I'm not a large techy person!). As I could not restore the audio, I decided to do a reset with files still intact. This got to 44% and then came up with a response along the lines of; "Cannot reset due to an issue. Please try again later." This led me back to two options; revert back and load windows 10 or to retry. I retried a few more times with the same error message and two options. I'd decided after that not working, I'd try and revert back and reload windows 10. After this, the only thing my laptop now does is load the HP symbol, move to a black screen and repeat. I've tried hard resets and attempting to diagnose the problem with F2, yet this did not help at all as all 'passed' bar the audio which could not be detected. Any help would be great! Thanks.

I bought this at the end of August, as something to use when I was away from home. Took it away in Sept, all worked fine, til one day I tried to turn it on and it wouldn't. Eventually got it to work by holding down the power key. Now it's intermittent: sometimes works fine, sometimes takes repeated attempts, sometimes I have to hold it down and get the CMOS message. Any ideas how to fix this?

My Pavilion x 2 detachable, purchased 10/2/2015 from Office Max as a travel device to serve as both an e-reader and light duty computer and used very lightly has come apart at the top edge and warped and is now unuseable and won't turn on. This is really poor design and quality control and I am beyond disappointed. I've have tried searching on the support site with no luck, don't really look for a solution here, but wanted to bring this to the attention of HP.  I've been a long time (really really long time - since about 1994 or 95 when I advocated for the use of HP touchscreen computers over Apple in my office) HP customer and this is one in a long string of desk and laptop products I have owned, but it will be the last one.

Hello @jaz4uk, Welcome back to the HP Support Forums! I see that you are still having trouble with the Micro SD card vanishing.  It seems like you went through many troubleshooting steps already.  The only solution I can think for you to try at this point, is to restore the BIOS to its default settings.  You can use the following document to do so: HP Notebook PCs - Restoring the BIOS If that does not work, and the notebook will not work as you like, then you may consider returning it to the place of purchase.  I hope this helps. Please let me know if this information helps you resolve the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution", this will help others easily find the information they may be looking for.  Also, clicking the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thanks! Have a great day!

Had this laptop for about 4 months, only use it for writing using Word, we don't store photos, music etc.  All we have are word documents and the only things we installed are Bitdefender and Office. This laptop has a 30gb hard drive as standard but we bought the one from HP that also has an additional 1TB drive.  Despite telling the system to save and install all things to the larger drive, the smaller one is constantly getting full and not letting us do anything.  When we go in to storage and try to delete all the temp files (about 3gb) it just sits there and doesn't delete anything. Anyone else had this issue?  Or does anyone know how to free up the smaller drive and get it to use the bigger one?  Like I said before, everything is set up in the system options to save to the large drive.  Am I missing something?

I've tried everything from switching slots to using different ram sticks and just running a single stick alone, I know its the ram as only it causes the crash however it only happens when I put one of my new ram in with a second stick, this can also happen when a place 2g with a 1g stick.

Can someone advice what system cache is referring to in the performance tab in Task Manager.

A:Task Manager - system cache

Windows 2000 allocates a portion of the virtual memory in your system to the file system cache . The file system cache is a subset of the memory system that retains recently used information for quick access. The size of the cache depends on the amount of physical memory installed and the memory required for applications. The operating system dynamically adjusts the size of the cache as needed, sharing memory optimally between process working sets and the system cache.Click to expand...

It's just a few months old and has barely been used in that time, but since it's not my laptop I don't know its history. Knowing the owner though, I don't imagine she ever did more than some browsing and text editing with it.

My friend's laptop gets a blue screen when starting up, which says CACHE_MANAGER, STOP: 0x00000034 (0x00000107, 0xc0000420, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

It does this when the loading bar for Windows appears on screen, without fail. There is absolutely no way I can get windows to boot. Not in safe mode or with startup repair or anything else.

After looking around a bit, I gathered that this BSOD pointed to insufficient memory, failing memory, failing hard drive, bad device drivers or something starting up in windows.

I had a look at the BIOS (InsydeH2O version F.22), which offers barely any options except for a memory test and a hard drive test and both passed fine. Startup options also has an HP diagnostics menu which offers a memory and hard disk test and they passed. I don't know if this means anything good..

(the diagnostics menu also has what it calls a "run-in" and a start up test which does a mem test, a short DST and a more extensive DST. I'm not entirely sure what this or if it has anything to do with it but every time it finished the long one it would... Read more

four days ago I randomly started receiving bluescreens for no reason, saying 'cache manager' I googled the errror to find it could be my memory which was unusual as it was 1-2 weeks old, I then ran wmd tool to test the ram and it passed 0 errors, I also went to purchase new ram and it will still the same bluescreens.

I have tested my hard drive and was fine, however I installed to a new hard disk and for 2 days it has been fine for 1.5 days then I just got a bluescreen saying IRQL_GT_ZERO_AT_SYSTEM_SERVICE.

I have attached the files.

Really would love to get some help as this is really frustrating I have no money to replace my PC and really need it running properly.

Struggling abit with BSODs, which comes at any point, no specific program or task setting it of. My computer can be running fine for 1 day, then the next day it will have BSODs so frequently its impossible to do anything. Had the same issue with win7, actually all the time since i changed from xp64.

As I said its nothing specific that sets it of, and sometimes its different BSOD messages. But The memtest is fine, so Id guess disk controller, or something like that.

Thanks in advance

The BIOS is very old (2007), at least try to update your BIOS, the most current is for Windows 8.1 but I can't say it'll help 100%.
There are also some Nvidia storage drivers outdated for Windows 10, but there doesn't seem to be driver updates you need for Windows 7 and higher.

This is my first time doing really technical stuff since I always just try to avoid messing around with computers (I always end up making things worse). Basically, I've been having random blue screens ever since May last year - from the "BlueScreenView" program, it's mostly because of a driver called NETwNs64.sys (which leads to the IRQL_NO_LESS_THAN_EQUAL error and KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED). I just recently got a CACHE_MANAGER error too, which is apparently caused by ntoskml.exe.

I've tried updating most of my stuff, though not through websites but by searching. I first thought it was because of my headset (from plugging/replugging constantly) or because of my internet adapter. However, it may be caused by a program called Connectify, which I use to connect my desktop - though I only recently started using Connectify and the Blue Screens were happening before that.

Any help would be much appreciated as this is really getting on my nerves. > <

I just bought a Netbook a couple of days ago and it was doing Windows updates and I left to go somewhere. When I came back, when I started my computer, I couldn't start Windows normally. Instead, I got a blue screen error that said that there was something wrong with my cache_manager. How do I go about solving this problem?

A:Cache Manager Blue Screen Error

Please provide us with the system specs. Cache Manager related BSODs usually refer to an insufficient amount of memory or RAM installed on the machine, or failing RAM and/or hard drive, bad device drivers or something starting up in Windows that is causing this. Also remove any USB devices you have attached to your system and see if that does anything. If that resolves the issue, then install the latest driver for that device and run Windows Updates.

Are you able to get into Windows at all after restarting the machine by powering it down and then up using the power button, if you have not tried to get into Windows again? If you are able to, then I will need you to go to C:\windows\minidump in Windows and copy and paste the files of that folder to an empty folder on the desktop. Copy the contents of those files and include them in your next post. If you do not know how to read the contents of the dump files then go here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315263/en-us

We will be able to be better troubleshoot the issue once you provide us with the dump files.

Figured I?d post some information regarding a Windows 7 Pro laptop ( 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601) that has the Windows Credential Manager credential purge happening to a user after each reboot or logoff. This is similar to other posts, and I?ve worked
through the following suggested steps in other posts. Prior to reimaging/upgrading to W10, I figured I ping everyone to see if there is a way I can figure out why this is happening. Reinstalling or rebuilding the profile will work, but I?m looking for root

Hi, I've been developing a site with PHP that links to an online SQL database, and I've recently hit a problem. I've noticed that Internet Explorer refuses to cache the images on my site, and the backgrounds for the page and toolbars are reloaded after every click, causing an ugly white flicker every time a link is clicked while the graphics reload. I'm not sure why it's doing this, as Firefox caches everything fine, but is there any way I can FORCE Internet Explorer to cache the images on my site? Any tidbit of code?

Thanks a million!

A:IE Cache Issues

well, personally i'd just say screw IE and stick with firefox, but hey, you asked a question and i shalt reply. :D I don't really know much about codes and stuff with IE because i don't really use it, but with any software i could always suggest just to uninstall it completely and reinstall it (here's the link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en)

however, perhaps before you do that you should simply wait a day or two and see if you get a reply from someone who really does know what buttons to press to help you get this sucker working.

On my previous installation of Windows 7, I frequently got a corrupt icon cache. The shortcut icon which I had removed from the icons would get replaced by a black box. Clearing the cache would fix it but eventually it'd happen again.

Now, on b7600, I'm having a similar issue. For some reason, two programs lost their icons. However this is different because when I view the actual EXE file in Explorer, it looks as if it's lost its icon too (before this wasn't the case). I can right click and view properties on the exe file however, and still see the correct icon.

Rebuilding the cache, again, fixes the issue. What gives? Anyone else having these type of issues?

A:Icon Cache Issues

Same problem here, due to where i live. I shut down every nite.
ea mornign when I 1st boot up, all ICONs have a black SQUARE over them.
Yes, rebuild Icon cache clears and replaces the icons.

If this continues I will find (i'm sure) a bat file to automatically do this so I do not have to Reboot after rebuilding the icon cache.
This is grossly annoying.
