I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Either of these,

MSI Afterburner

EVGA | EVGA Precision | EVGA Precision

should work. Or you can try RivaTuner,

RivaTuner v2.24c download from Guru3D.com

which the other two are based on. RT may not work as it hasn't been updated in a while, and may have problems it you are using an unsupported driver.

A:Looking for fan control speed...

If Speedfan doesn't work, then most propably any else program won't work either. You could want to replace the fan with a controllable one or get a voltage regulator for the fan or for all the fans in one.

Hello all,i recently bought a new PSU and so far it seems to do the job quite well, however when i run certain more demanding games like The Witcher 3 and the PSU itself goes into high load, the fan makes quite a lot of noise.

Most reviews i saw online about the PSU seem to say it's not loud at all,and granted it's not loud while in idle. The question is, is it possible to somewhow lower the PSU fan speed ? The sound it makes is similar to a cheap office fan, however as i said, while in idle it's dead silent.

PSU : seasonic M12II-620 EVO Edition

PC specs :

- FX 8350
- G1 Gigabyte 1070
- 1 x HDD
- 990xa-ud3 MB
- 16 gb ram hyperx savage
- 4 x case fans

A:PSU Fan Speed control ?

It should not make the excessive noise you describe
Indeed even with the fan running it should be very quiet as it is a fluid type fan bearing, far quieter than a simple sleeve bearing as found on cheaper PSU`s or indeed quieter than a standard ball bearing

Are you sure you have it mounted correctly
http://seasonic.com/position-power-supply/

I will check the base requirements of your system on the info I have and post back. If you have bought the minimum PSU wattage then you should not have done so
For instance minimum system requirements 600 watt always buy next up eg 700/750 watt

Although the PSU meets the based requirements of the system 125watt CPU and 150 watt graphics, the recommended psu for the card being 500 watt that of course does not take account of other components - hard drives etc OR indeed OC

See this
Seasonic recommend it for office use and causal gaming

This is an area where HP kinda pisses me off

they hide/disable a bunch of settngs in the BIOS settings, such as fan speed and WoL.

Does anyone know how i can monitor/control fan speeds?
i have tried sppedfan, but it doesn't seem to do anything but monitor my CPU temp. I can set a desired temp for my CPU, but that doesn't the actual temp or the fan speed. When i look into the tab that has fans in it, theres nothing there. I have also tried nTune, as i have an Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS video adapter.

Is there a program other than the two i tried to control fan speed? or a way to manually do it?

It depends on what motherboard you have, that will allow Speedfan to work properly. The fans that can be controlled must have 3-wires. You can always install a fan controller, if you really need to control fan speed

Hello guys I have this problem with my internet. My internet speed is really low and when I'm playing game (path of exile) my ping is so high and It's really annoying. I have a PC connected to a DSL wifi router and my sister and mother are using their laptop most of the time and they just hog the internet speed with youtube and facebook. Can I set the internet speed so that I could lower their speed?
Here's the device webpage.. Sadly this router don't have a QoS.. If you want more picture of the device interface I would gladly provide them.. So far I only see these 2 pictures as ones that should enable me to configure my network.

A:How to control the speed of my internet

A router with QoS may or may not really help. Probably more helpful would be to upgrade (if any of these are available) to higher DSL bandwidth or cable or fiber.

I don't think its possible, although I have no experience in overclocking, one of the comments on that tutorial is:

SpeedFan was made with desktops in mind. Notebooks control the fans differently compared to desktops. It will not work.

Is your laptop in a well ventilated place? Have you considered getting a cooling mat? Is the fan nice and clean? That last one is very important, my laptop was reaching 89 celsius before I removed the crap from the fan, now it reaches 58

Boohoo, no specs. In any case, a BIOS update may take care of it. I had a tornado going on my last board but a quick check and a BIOS update fixed it. There's usually fan control in the BIOS as well. Some motherboard manufacturers provide utilities that will allow fan and temp changes and/or alarm settings. System specs would go a long way in helping to provide specifics.

I've got 8.1 on a Dell Inspirion 5738 laptop, I have a generic usb mouse attached. My problem is the mouse pointer slowly starts speeding up until it gets so fast I have no accuracy. At this point I only have one more notch to go down, and it's still a little faster than I want it. How do I control the speed, you know, how do I keep it from speeding up? Is there a way to keep it a set speed other than the above mentioned procedure?

I want to turn my fan on high for my high performance or balance setting because my laptop puts out a lot of heat sometimes even reaching a tjmax of 221 F or I believe its 105 C. I just got it and I am a heavy mmo gamer which doesn't weigh as much as a FPS so I figured it could handle it. Which it does pulling 100+ frames in FPS and MMOs. My problem is the overheating and last I checked 180F-190F is pretty hot for a laptop, but my fan won't turn on high cause of the stupid acer CPU %over desire = %+ of its speed which is retarded. I was wondering if anyone knows a program that will bypass the acers third party prevention system so I can turn on the speed to max.

Is there any way to control the fan speeds on the system? I checked the bios but since my fans arn't stock (upgraded) they dont appear. No Vista option for the fan speeds either. I have downloaded various programs, SpeedFan ect, but none seem to make my runs run at 100% Its always ranging from 50% to 60%.

Also, are there any good programs to overclock the CPU? I'm having alot of trouble with my MSI Neo P45 motherboard. I've got the right components and all, but it wont let me overclock my QX6700 past 2.8 when it was 2.66. I want to at least get it to 3.44ghz.

Hi,

Not sure what's going on with your fans are you sure they are supposed to run at 100% ? - are the correct options enabled in the Bios - worth checking the manual or get it from your mobo's website - also see if they have an updated Bios available.

CPUID has oc'ing functions - it warns you it's at your own risk, of course - they also do HWMonitor which should help you see what's going on with your fans and temps.

CPUID

Hope this does the trick

First time posting here so hoping I do not mess up...

Anyway, my question is about controlling the speed of a mouse that is used on a system that has no settings panel for it. To expand that, I have a Security DVR setup that has mouse support but no keyboard support and all control has to be done with the mouse. Unfortunately, the mouse is way to fast for me and with the embedded firmware, no way to slow it.

Curious if they make a mouse that has a built in physical adjustment for the speed, or some kind of inline control to put between the mouse and USB port that could do this.

Bought used M58-7360. Fan never speeds up. Stays around 25% I'd guess. I was transcoding video in plex and cpu usage was at 100% and cpu temp was at 170 degrees F and rising. I pulled a wire attached to the "thermal" pin on the front of the mobo to get fan to speed up and cooled the cpu down. After researching, apparently the only way to control the fan speed is the "quiet technology" setting under the ME selection in the Intel AMT software that you access by pressing ctrl+p at boot. I got to the area where it should be listed and it isn't there. It isn't in the normal bios. I installed speedfan program but it doesn't "see" the fan. I've also tried resetting cmos. Please help!

HP Omen 17 so noisy - how to control fan speed? My new HP omen 17 w010ng drives me crazy - it is so noisy. Even if the Geforce is switched off, the left fan starts to switch on very easily, running a Youtube video is enough. I have read about HP Control software allowing to control fan speed - it was very difficult to install and I only found out that the ventilator settings are already on normal. I switched the ventilators off in Bios, still not much change. Then i ensured in the graphic driver that Geforce is only used for Lightroom and Photoshop, this helped a bit, but still I see that ventilators speed up far earlier then required. I have tried HWinFO64, but no fan speed controls are possible. The freeware Speedfan is the same, I see the fan speed but cannot control it.  I found the freeware Notebook FanControl, but there is no configuration file for Omen 17 available. Did anybody out there solve the problem? How can I control and reduce the fan speed?

So i don't wish to slow all applications and their access to the internet, just Internet Explorer.

What i am trying to do is to limit the usage that IE uses, e.g. max of 5MB/hour, but i don't wont it to reach the limit then just stop working, I want it to be constant so that it can keep working yet not exseed a limit.

Is this possible?

If so how can this be done?

Hi
I have a great ATG5404 laptop that is excellent but it gets too hot.
Dell have twice replaced the heat sink, the fan and once replaced the memory, the whole back cover and therefore paid for two engineer visits and taken apart my Dell twice which is never as good as not having to take anything apart.
The only other article I have found is for another model of laptop and the issue is similar and the problem the same:
The unit's fan speed is fully automated and cannot be controlled through Dell app or settings.

So how do we make the fan do more work to get a cooler laptop?

Sometimes my laptop is so hot that I cannot work with it on my lap or when it is placed on a normal table. Wooden tables do not help but even a glass table with great heat dispersion qualities does not always help. When the fan does cut in, the air from the outlet is so hot that you cannot keep your hand there... if only the fan cut in early or could be set to run at 50% or higher all the time when plugged in say the system would be excellent.

Any thoughts?

This is the best article I have found...
I am using the SpeedFan utility to monitor the fan and temp but it cannot alter the speeds.

Kind Regards

Peter

Hi Peter,

A:ATG5404 Too Hot. No Manual Fan Speed Control Big Issue

Hi Genesis
Thank you for your reply.
I can see it from your point of view but the engineer did not say that there was no issue. He said he would also look into it as whilst it was working, it was too hot. This was experienced in the short time he was there after the second visit.
He also noted when the heat sink was replaced a second time that the first replacement heat sink from a few months earlier had little heat cement left contacting directly and did look like it was due to a hot environment internally. The back cover was also replaced by you indicating that this had been an issue for others as again this was the first back cover he had ever replaced.
The issue is not with the unit but that it simply runs too hot. When the fan cuts in the air released is SO HOT that you cannot keep your hand in front of it.
If the system fan could be set to come on sooner or left on at least 50% then this would not be an issue at all as when the fan is on it displaces the heat well; great design using a sealed chamber to reduce dust and utilising the large heat sink!!!
To me this is still on going as there must be an engineer at Dell who can simply add a program to the BIOS or elsewhere to give the option to increase the fan usage above the absolute minimum.
Thank you for escalating this for me and I am sure many others.
Kind Regards
Peter

I have an AMD/Radeon R9 280 GPU. It works great for the limited gaming that I do, and performs really well, even at ultra settings. The only problem with it is that the automatic fan control in the driver software package does not work and never has. I can merrily play a game and the card's fan will stay at 20% until it overheats and practically catches fire. At least the card stops working before it causes damage and I can shut down.

I usually have the fan set manually at 65% and this covers me for even intense gaming, as the card never breaks 45C that way.

I noticed a problem the other day when I was playing a game. I could smell something getting really hot and I checked my temps. The GPU was over 70C and the fan was running at 20%. Just then my monitors went black and the audio continued in the game. My card had shut down. Checking the fan control when I got the PC rebooted, it was set to Auto and 20%. I reset the fan control to manual and 65% and everything was fine. Until I rebooted, then the fan control went back to Auto. I can set the card to manual but the settings will not persist like they used to over reboots.

AV scans came back negative, and I haven't updated the driver for over a month. This has just happened in the past few days. I can't figure this out.

I'm out of ideas and would really appreciate any advice. I won't even mind heckling from you Nvidia guys out there.

I have a Gateway M-6851 Laptop running win7 x64 pro. When I bought it, I had heard about it being pretty warm. I did not think much of it, if it runs a little hot it's np.
I have determined, however, that my games that run at 60fps when the laptop is cool, run at 19 fps when it is not.
Not only does it cause problems in game, when I try and watch HD video, It laggs the video.
It seems to stay hot all the time. I installed speedfan and here is the report.

Win9x:NO 64Bit:YES GiveIO:NO SpeedFan:YES

Found ACPI temperature (77.0C)
Found Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5550 @ 1.83GHz

This seems pretty bad to me, especially that 77 degrees Celsius.

I cannot control my laptop's fans in speedfan.

I was wondering, Is there any other program that can let me control fans (or fan, lol)
If not, what can I do?

My manufacturers warranty is out.
I have the "best" cooling pad (doesn't seem to help)

I have tried EVERYTHING to get manual control of the fans and haven't been able to reliably control them. Tried Speedfan, HWinfo, the bios, etc. and can't get PWM control or to setup my own fan control curve.
The laptop bottom  is running too warm for my taste at low workloads which is inconvenient when using it in my lap and I just want to turn on the fans instead of having them off.
Can anyone help out?
