Q: Help with Shopping cart for visual basic

Hi I am working on a shopping cart for books in visual basic and can not figure out how to remove a selected item from the cart and adjust the price. any help would be appreciated

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I don't use visual basic ... but only can give you some program idea....

on the cart screen it should have a "check box" hold the id of that item ( id should be the shopping cart id + which row in the cart)

when the "check box" is click ... and you press "Upadte" button to post..

you have the the shopping cart id and the item row value to remove it ... then refresh the screen again...

I downloaded CubeCart and am trying to work on it in either Dreamweaver or the File Manager on my server. Either one will work but I'm CLUELESS as to where to start.

I don't know how to put this all together and make it work and the installation instructions may has well be written in Greek. I don't know where to start...there are two header.php and two index.php and two of this and two of that and you get the drift. HELP....I need someone to walk me thru this or I may just lose my mind.

I downloaded Cube Cart cause I can *mangle* the logo easier than I can the one on osCommerce. At least I did when I was using the server I had before but that one had it laid out where I could identify which files were which...now I am on my own. This isn't a Fantasico or C-panel. Liz

First off, does your web server or web site meet the requirements for using CubeCart? PHP 1, MySQL on a Unix/Linux Server?

Ok, so I just set up a merchant account, now I need the shopping cart thing.
I have no experience doing this sort of thing, and I could use a little help getting it going.

basically I need to know:

where do I go to get a shopping cart (free would be preferable, since I already paid for the account...), and how do I integrate it into my website?

Is there somewhere I can go to just get the code so I can "copy and paste" into an html form? what language would it use? Java, php, html, etc.

I am wanting to do a shopping cart for my clothing line company. Standard buying and selling etc.. I have looked at a few options. I was hoping someone here in the techsupportguy forums could give me some experience suggestions or ask me questions to determine my needs and then give a suggestion on that. If i can get away with inexpensive and highly flexable or powerful whatever software that would be great! I am running XP home SP1 and IE 6. When I try to add something to a shopping cart I get this error "We're sorry, more information is needed to order this item. Please complete Step 2, then continue your order" on one site (llbean.com). On another site (victoriassecret.com) it acts like it adds it to the shopping bag, but when I view the bag it is empty.

I had SP2 installed and uninstalled it, and have the same results. I also have done the registry tweak to fool the system into thinking that IE6 is not installed and reinstalled it. I was able to add something to my LLBean shopping cart after doing that. The item was backordered, and when I went back to change my choice, it gave me the "We're sorry, more information is needed to order this item. Please complete Step 2, then continue your order" error again. I have run the latest Spybot S&D, and Adaware versions and deleted some spy/adware. Still having the problems. Hi guys, I'd like to learn more about integrating a shopping cart application with a merchant account.

I understand the mechanics of obtaining credit card information from the user via HTML forms and whatnot. What isn't clear to me is what I would then do with this information.

I've done some searching and all I can seem to find is tutorials on making the actual shopping cart software, which I can do myself, and links to other purchasable shopping cart software.

Can someone link me to a page or book that covers this topic in detail?

The webhost for this shopping cart site creates the codes needed to make it work on a separate page for each item. I copied the codes for each individual product and pasted them onto one page.
Each item contains a form with hidden fields that consists of the product's id # so that the shopping cart processor should know which item is being purchased when the buy button is being clicked.
However, the different products are not being recognized on the page, but rather, every buy button interprets as if the first item on the page is being purchased again and again.
Being that I'm not familiar with javascripts, I don't know how to format this page so that the buy buttons for each individual item sends the right info. One thing that I did learn is that 2 forms one 1 page cannot have the same form name so I altered the name of the 2nd form to celectvar as opposed to selectvar (the default name given by the webhost).

Following is a clipping of the scripts and forms for the 2 first products on the page.

Yesturday the Shopping Cart on Newegg stopped working. I did have it working earlier in the day as I had compiled a list of items but when I went back later the cart was empty. I logged back in thinking it would be there but still it was empty. Now whenever I click on "Add To Cart" it takes me to the next screen saying it has added it to the cart but the $ counter in the top right corner stays at $0.00 and when clicking on the cart itself or proceeding to checkout it tells me the cart is empty. It does this whether I am logged in or not.

I tried adjusting the Cookie settings like their site advises but it didn't seem to change anything. They did suggest going into Tools, Internet Options, Security, Custom Level then scrolling down looking for Cookie options (there is no option for cookie listed there). But under privacy I found cookie options and changed it to accept all but still the problem was the same.

The weird thing is that yesturday sometime before the problem started the browser history was somehow erased. Nobody actually went through the steps and cleared the history though. The only actions that were performed between the cart working and not working were photo's being uploaded from a camera and the MyDocuments folder being accessed by another computer on the same network. The other computer on the network has no problems with Newegg's cart but this one - a laptop on a wireless network using XP and IE version 6.0 still does.

I am (a novice and) trying to make a shopping cart for a bookstore (using visual studio and visual basic). The shopping cart page shows a gridview where all the items the customer wants to purchase is listed (the gridveiw has columns for isbn, title, price and amount). The amount column is a text box, where the user can change the amount. Under the grid view I have a button <update amount>. A click on this button is supposed to go through the gridview to see if the user has changed the amount of any of the books. If so, the price of this item(book) is to be changed (prise * amount of the item). If the amount of one book is set to 0 the row is to be deleted from the gridview. Can some one help me with the code needed to accomplish this???

At the end of each row in the gridview I have put a button <remove item>, and a click on this button is supposed to delete the selected row from the gridview. The gridview is listed on the shopping cart page with this code:

GridView1.DataSource = Session("kurv")

What code do I need to accomplish this removal of the selected item?

I have a (currently) simple Access database with Search form, to which I've added a multi-field filter, based on a nice bit of code I found online.

The next stage is to reproduce this form with added functionality, for issuing and receiving goods into stock.
I'd like for the user to be able to select multiple stock items, see them added to something in a "shopping cart"-style and then click a button to issue the selected items (subtract from stock) or receipt them (add to stock) and, print the details.

The way I'm imagining it, I'd add Issue Qty and Receipt Qty fields to the existing Stock search form. Anything that had been given an Issue Qty or Receipt Qty would populate a query. The query would simultaneously feed a subform, displaying the slected items & quantities for the user to see, and then buttons for Issue and Receive (or a single button, maybe) would allow the user to confirm their changes, updating the stock quantity accordingly, printing a report showing what they'd issued or receipted and emptying the query for next use.

I'm not sure if this is the best way to go about it. Perhaps rather than populating a query, it could or should be done with a sort of temporary recordset.
There might be difficulties in undoing, too. I'd need to have something in place to allow the user to either delete items from the "cart" subform or set the Issue / Receipt Qty on the main form to zero. In either case, it'd b... Read more

I guess my question can be asked in two ways, the short way and the long way.

Here's the short one:

Can you do everything that you can do with VBA with VB?
The long one is:

I need to be able to write programs that conceivably invovle web forms/web services (VB right?), Microsoft SQL Server 2002 (VB again right?) but also Microsft Office applications like Excel and Access (VBA??). Does that mean I need to learn both Visual Basic and Visual Basic for Applications? In my initial research into Visual Basic I've learned that Visual Basic for Applications is a subset of Visual Basic, so shouldn't that mean that Visual Basic, being the parent and more powerful than Visual Basic for Applications, is capable of performing all of the functions that Visual Basic for Applications does?

Thanks for your help,
([email protected])

I do not know VB at all, only some VBA. The main difference is that VBA has words specifically for the applications, a classic exanple would be the

Hello everyone. Right now im doing a proyect in Visual FoxPro v. 6.5 where i am using a control names MAPX.OCX, this is used to display maps and its cordinates. I have already started to use this control, but im a bit stuck. I read in the manual of the control, but it is made for Visual Basic and C++ and I have very little experience using Visual FoxPro.

The instructions of the VB as the following:

Private sub Globessymbol_click()
Dim top20cities as mapxlib.layer
set top20cities = map1.layers("ciudades")
top20cities.style.symbolbitmapname = "x.bmp"
end sub

The Map1 is the name of an OLE object that identifies the MAPX.OCX and this also has some layers to put the name, icons, lines, etc. This layers are the ones i am having trouble codificating it in Visual FoxPro.

does someone here have any knowledge of how to do this? i'll thank very much the help.

Hi there
I'm just messing around a bit with Visual Basic - I just want to use EXCEL (mainly) and a couple of really simple Windows stuff. I can't be bothered with C# or .NET -- I'm not (nor intend to be) a professional programmer -- but would like to have a go with some small applications and get to grips with the Basic in EXCEL.

I've got the old Ms Visual Basic 6 disks -- is it worth while messing about with these on W8 (Ms believe it or not is going to support the platform through W8 releases !!!) or should I just bite the bullet and download Visual Studio express which seems a bit overkill also for what I'm really trying to do.

As I'm running a 32 bit version of Office it would seem that most of the VB6 stuff could run quite simply in EXCEL 2010 (32 bit) even though my OS is x-64 --or I could even run it in an XP VM.

Any suggestions as to which is the better way to go -- I just want this for casual use -- not as a professional.

A:Visual Basic 6 or Visual Studio for EXCEL use

Doesn't Office 2010 still support VBA (Visual Basic for Applications)? I think that is what you mean by Basic in Excel?

As far as supporting VB6 in Win 8, VB6 apps do run in Windows (32 bit), though we've had issues at work with some 3rd party components. I'm pretty sure 64 bit is out for VB6! I couldn't get any VB6 executables to run on my Windows 7-64 box, though they will run just fine in an XP VM.

I think your options are VBA in Excel if you want to stick with classic VB...

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to get my feet wet in creating a .vbs file from notepad to do a basic function. I wanted to be able to run .reg files remotely but also interactively. This led me down the path of simply finding an example of a .vbs that would open anything remotely at all. Notepad is what came up with the most results and the Win32_ScheduledJob object appeared to be what was needed.

I researched many different places but this is a decent walkthrough. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa394601(v=vs.85).aspx

I grabbed the code below out of the website and changed the date parameters to run in a couple minutes from my current time. I could see the task in scheduled tasks but when the time had come and gone nothing would happen and this is just trying to get it to run locally so far.

I need to pass an array of values to a select statement in VB6 but need help with the syntax

cmnFileGet.CancelError = True
cmnFileGet.FileName = txtFilePath.Text
cmnFileGet.Filter = "*.txtDate"

cmnFileGet.FileName = txtFilePath.Text

is the line of code that is currently passing a single file to the select statement. I want all files that qualify for the filter "*.txtDate"

txtDate is a text box the end user fills in. For example I want all files that qualify for "*.7/30" if the end user has entered 7/30 into the text box.

The syntax in the case statement must somehow cause the program to go back for the next value in the array once all the other code in the case statement is executed.

Any help will be greatfully appreciated.

A:Visual Basic Fun

If I understand your question, you would want to do something like this:

cmnFileGet.Filter = "*." & txtDate.Text

That would limit the dialog box to files with an extention "7/09" in your example. Again, I'm not sure I understand the question. I appologize if I'm way off here, but let me know if I am...

As far as the array part of the question goes, if your array was called Dates() where each member of Dates() was a date entered by the user:

for x = 1 to UBound(Dates)
Select Case Dates(x)
case "7/09"
case "7/10"
case else
End Select
Next x

hey everyone.... im going to take some programming classes this semester and i can take c# and visual basic. my question is would it be a bad idea to take the classes together in the same semester? I ask because one of my previous teachers recommended not to take java and C# at the same time cause they have very similar commands. i looked at some visual basic.net and C# and they seemed really different but still would like to get a better opinion.Click to expand...

Well C# and Java is in high demand so you should take both of these classes. You can also take VB also. VB is easy to learn so you might want too add this course also.

**EDIT** Apologies, it's C++, not C#
Hi there.

I'm currently working on a coursework project and I've come across some trouble.
I'm making an animation and in one scene I want to have a string of text scrolling to the right, and another string of text scrolling to the left.
I am able to get one string of text scrolling, but if I try to add another one, it just screws it all up.
I've also tried adding another view port on the same scene but it still doesn't seem to do the trick. Ideally, I need to have two view ports in the scene.

Here's the code I have:
This is declared at the beginning of the code:

float fTranslate = 0.0;
Translating code:

glTranslatef(fTranslate,0.0f,0.0); //Determine whether the text translates side-ways (x) or upwards (y)
glTranslatef(75,200,0.0); //Starting point of text
glColor3f (1.0, 1.0, 1.0);
renderSpacedBitmapString(20,600,5,GLUT_BITMAP_HELVETICA_18,"We've got great deals at");

fTranslate += 2.0; //Translation speed - ALSO, + makes text go right, - makes text go left

glTranslatef(fTranslate,0.0f,0.0); //Determine whether the text translates side-ways (x) or u... Read more

A:new to visual basic

I say start C++, you can always go back to VB, but VB is kind of a handicapper for a first language IMO.

I want to start learning visual basic. I have office 2000, I was told to press alt + F11 to go to visual basic. I have done this and it brings me to the visual basic screen, when I hit the help menu it say this is not installed so I put my office 2000 disk in the cdrom to install it and it cant find it. Do I actually have visual basic and its help files or do I need to purchase them seperate from office 2000.
Also does anybody no any good site that I can go to for learning. I am a complete green horn when it comes to visual basic, so I have to start right at the begining. I don't even no where to start entering the code or if I have to complile it or how to complile it. So thats what type of site Im looking for.

Hello All

I don't know if anyone can help me but I'd really appreciate it if someone can.

In MS Access 2003, you can right click on a table, select export and save it as an XML file. You can then unselect Schema etc. I want to replicate that feature through code in VB 6.0 but can't process it efficiently. The code I have written is:

Dim OLacUpload As New Access.Application
Dim PWD As String
OLacUpload.AutomationSecurity = msoAutomationSecurityLow
OLacUpload.OpenCurrentDatabase DATABASE LOCATION, False, PWD
ExportXML acExportTable, "TABLENAME", "FILENAME"
Set OLacUpload = Nothing

The code above works but it asks to open Access and sometimes errors if you delay the click 'Open'. What I want is for the user to click a button and just create an XML file. Is this possible? My database is password protected too if that helps?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Kind Regards

A:Visual Basic 6.0 XML

Just read the database, and write the object to XML. If there is an export function built in to do everything, you wouldn't have to write a query to do much. You just have to configure an until loop to write each iteration of the read. I use a list to pass between the read and the write.

I too have used your export trick to make sure my XML was properly formated. But, in the end, you need to understand every character in an XML markup to properly program for it.

If you're trying to format a dynamic table structure, you'll have to build the tables to be constructed to fit your XML schema. XML is a bit particular. Example: If I need to take in an unknown.length set of dollar amounts, they need to be placed in the same element and reconstructed with a split("Delimiter goes here as string").

I found out today that XML predates the HTTP standard.. WhaWha..What?
XML was designed by NASA in the late 70's to track parts. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

Here is the story. My dad's friends called this morning, and told me he had signed up for online courses. He said he only pays $25 a month, and gets all he wants. Suprisingly, he gave me the site, and his user name and password. Well, I looked through what they had, and I decided I want to learn visual basic. How much is the program to write in VB cost? Where can I get it? Help is appreciated.

I have a couple of questions about visual basic,

I have used vb before long time ago, now i look around and i see stuff like visual basic.net, visual studio, etc...
I looked at a software store on the internet to see the price of visual basic, and i thought there would be like visual basic version 7, 8 9... like it used to be
But there isn't any, could someone explain to me the difference between these different visual ___ softwares? especially .net and studio

Also, how old is visual basic 5 now? How outdated is this program? Like would i be able to still use this to make a powerful program?

Hello I am thinking of getting into visual basic but it's too expensive for me (yes I'm a tight little ****) but does anyone know of a freeware clone of it at all. thanks.

A:Visual basic

Excel had it's own version of VB, as far as the coding goes it's all the same, you can even run class modules etc from it. A good starting point to learn VB coding. Obviously you can't make executables with it though.

I'm working on a program that stores data input to a SQL database. I need to now create some reports from the data stored. What is the best way to do this? Here's what I have and need to do:

The report needs to look like this:

customerid customername daterange percentageoftotal
totalamount %of total

0001 some customer 23,987.53 35%
0002 another customer 45,329.83 65%

Total: 69,317.36 100%

Any help would be greatly apprciated, as well as thoughts or ideas.

I would like the user running the report to be able to select the date ranges for as many ranges as they want up to 6 different ranges. So the would get a form prompt that would ask them to enter the date ranges and then the report would run.
