My new Olympus DM-19 digital voice and music recorder has an input that is for both Microphone and earphone. The microphone works, my headphones work, but the irock FM broadcaster I bought at radio shack doesn't work in it, nor do any of the headphone plugs at my local radio shack. How can I get the Olympus recorder to recognize the irock? Do I need a different FM broadcaster? Are radio shack's plugs too short for the Olympus receptacle? They look virtually identical.
Read other answersI recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
arial My Sony Minidisc player records really well, how do I get the files that I have recorded with a microphone transfered to my computer for editing?
Best way I know is to get a male to male Line In-Out cord. It looks like 2 ends of a headphone socket attached. You would plug one end in the line in or mic socket on the computer and the other in the headphone socket of the minidisc player.
Is this the same thing you just posted regarding an olympus minidisc player?
Can anyone recommend software for copying MP3's to minidisc. The software that comes with the player is fine, but you have to import the mp3's into a playlist, which means they are duplicated. This takes up room on my hard drive.

I need to find a way to get the recorded files from the minidisc to my computer so that i'd beable to burn them and give them to some people(so that they could play it like a regular cd or at least use their computer to play it)I tried plugging the line cable into the mic jack on the back of my computer but that didn't work to well since the program the comes with windows doesn't record to long. Is there another recorder that i could download that is able to record longer? Is there anyother way to get it on to my computer.
I'm trying to give some people the stuff i secretly recorded in a staff meeting and it is very important.
Thanks for any help.
Do you have a Creative sound card? They sell an accessory to their sound cards (it comes with the Augidy Platinum and Live! Platinum) for I think $30 or so and it has an optical in and out especially meant for minidiscs. It comes with some pretty good software. Also, Sony makes a computer to MD interface that you can easily transfer recordings with. Otherwise, I haven't had much luck either trying to record through the analog onto my computer so I wouldn't be able to help ya there.
a friend of mine showed me a disc that he was sent by a friend in japan, it has songs on it that he composed and he wanted to know if I could copy them to a cd for him. the problem is I never saw a disc like that, it looks like a standard floppy disc except that it is smaller, it is made by tdk and all the writing on it is printed in japanese, he took it to a couple of big box stores and they know nothing about them. tdk's website shows that they have them and they are called minidisc but no other info, can anyone help?
Does it look like this?
If so, yes its a minidisc. It was phased out several years ago. You'll need to find a player to be able to use it. I have a Sony player/recorder.

Hello,
I was given what I think is a minidisc. It looks like a cd, only much smaller. It isn't completly round however, as two of the edges are trimmed down. It looks more like an oval now.
My question is, if I were to buy some of these, can I copy my stuff onto them just like a regular cd? With Nero or whatever, and secondly, anyone know where I can find these items to purchase? Thanks!
hello
you can copy onto them if they are writable discs or rewritable discs. ive seen and used some of the discs you described. they are made that way for convience --like the size of your pocket easy to lug around. However they do not hold the storage capacity of 80 minute (800mb) they generally hold anywhere from 150mb - 210mb . also click on this link to see where to get them. http://www.plaza101.com/plaza/search/res/r8174691.html I have purchased them at office max at one time. hope this is a help
I want to tidy up some audio files a friend has recorded onto Mini Disc, but the software that comes with it will only allow you to put on the PC what you have taken off. Does anyone know of a program that will allow you to use your USB connection to import the audio to the PC. I've tried using the earphone socket of the Minidisc and the Microphone socket of the PC, but the quality's not as good. Cheers.

Does anyone know of a program that can be used to create a MiniDisc (sony NETMD NE-410) or any other media player, besides RealOne, that can used to create MiniDiscs?
i'm currently using Winamp and i've tried Plug-Ins that say can be used to create MDs but non have workd yet.
thanks in advance
is it possible to record song i have on my computer hard disk directly onto a minidisk? if so how? i have Sony MD (MZ-R70) and am using Windows 98SE
You should be able to record it the R70 via your sound card. You can either use a patch cable to go directly from the speaker port on your sound card to the mic port on the R70, or you might be able to record the song just off the speakers from your computer, tho the quality won't be very good. You might have to search a little to find a cable that will connect your sound card to the R70.
Here is a link to more info on the R70 .
ive got a mini disc with photos on it ,the disc has been finalised correctly ,but wont play in dvd player in computer .just doesnt start up or any recognition at all ive tried the disc in different computers can any body help thenks
Hey there.

PS I have a Sharp MD-MT270H
My computer recognizes the minidisc player and downloads a driver for it, but the minidisc player will not work. I have plugged it into my USB port, but nothing happens. It is a Sony and in the handbook Sony says that I need to contact my computer manufacturer for a USB audio upgrade.
I have no experience with it, but you say that the computer recognizes the player but nothing happens. How is it recognized? Does the player play the disk at all? Can you plug in your earphones and also the usb at the same time and if so, hear music. Have you check the various Volume Control Propetrties to make sure that the one for hte player is not turned down or muted? Post back with more details if possible.
Having recorded and finalised my discs I can watch them on my computer but can't save the recordings from the mini dvd to my hard drive. I used to be able to so I'm not sure what has change. Any ideas?
I purchased a SOHOUSB card reader on Ebay that came with drivers on a Minidisc. It will not load on an IBM Thinkpad 600 running Win 98SE. Someone advised me that I would need drivers to make it work with Win 98SE.Where would I find these drivers?
Copy the drivers from the CD (surely you mean the small sized CD and not the Sony music media) on a computer that manages to read it.
When I play tracks in my Playlist they play for just over 30 seconds and then STOP.
The CDs were loaded into OpenMG some time ago.
Any ideas?
I recently purchased a sony minidisc player. Is there a program or a way, after I'ver recorded something live through a microphone, to upload that file to my computer and convert it to an mp3. Is that an impossiblity? Does anyone have any insight?
You could try here :
http://www.audiotools.co.uk
They have an extensive range of sound utilities for free download either Free or Shareware.
hey guys, i need help, i have a sony net md, and for the last few months, i cant transfer songs from my computer to the minidisc, it says "Cannot convert the specified track.
SonicStage does not support the file format of the track.".; it says that no matter what song i try to transfer, i have tried all sorts of different bit rates, different songs, different cds. i have tried upgrading the software, i dont know what else to do

My husband and i are in a band and are trying to upload our music to a local site. It said we needed mp3 files so we tried coverting our wave file to an mp3 file ( my husband downloaded something that said it could do this) and now we have no sound. The speakers still make little crackling noises like they are still live but we get no sound.
HELP!
Try a different program.
Are you converting from CD, or a wave file on the hard drive?
.
I've tried a lot of things to figure this out and it's been going on for quite awhile, still if anyone can post any reason why it won't stream sound, please do so, I want help badly.
I tried an instill of a new hard drive and made it the master drive, however I couldn't install windows from a disc (pci.sys) so instead i copied my os off of the old hard drive but everything had to be copied. (If you can tell me an install process to help me with my sound that'll work too)
youtube doesn't work.. etc
absolutely everything from the internet = no sound except if it caches a file and plays that file instead.
checked volumes, "play sound in webages", downloaded codecs, flash, updates.
post anything, please?
I am running Audacity on a new 64 bit computer, running Vista. I had got my sound really good, good enough to do voice auditions, but now when I convert my Wav file to mp3 and send it to myself, the sound is awful. Why is there such a difference, when it sounds so good in Audacity or on my file converter?
Hi all
I'm trying to watch 2 movies that are in avi format. the picture is amazing but there is no sound.
I have sound on all other types of files so i know its not my speakers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Craig
you might be missing a codec. try either watching it in VLC Media player or go to www.free-codecs.com and get one of the codec packs they have there.
Read other 1 answersOK, I'm stumped. I have sound if I play songs on Media Player. I don't have sound if I hit someone's My Space page (or my own), so I can't hear the song being played. I have sound if I play video files on the internet, but I don't have sound if I play movie files uploaded from my camera. I don't have sound on flash files or games. What's going on here? Can anyone help?
Do you have the latest Flash Player installed? Quicktime may help too. Is your system fully updated using Microsoft's Update website?
My napster songs will randomly "skip", and I have selective sound omissions on a successfully installed game.
these are problems that are across the board and seem to be an internal malfunction. I play Age of Kings Conquerors exp. all of a sudden, I have no sound on MSN gaming zone and even when playing my pc, all sound works except the sound of my villagers. Whats up?
I'm a budding, young composer (about 300 songs over 40 years) and a little new to the MP3 scene.
I create sound files, usually .wav or MP3 of music but my Vista platform won't let me change or add artist name, track number, etc.
Is there a way to do this on my laptop without downloading $11,000.00 worth of software?
Thanks.
billthelifer, good morning and welcome to Sunday. When you Right-Click on one of your MP3's, does a menu pop up and offer you a "Properties" option? If so, please select that and in the window that pops up, you should see a General tab, a Security tab and a Details tab.It is under the Details tab that you should be able to hover (and click) over any of the fields to add, remove or change any of the details that you want.I just tried this on a couple of MP3's on my Vista machine without any problems. I've got a lot of cluttered MP3's laying around in my Music folder (free stuff I downloaded from a bunch of singer-songwriters) so I used those. Please note that I couldn't relplicate this with a wav file, as I don't have any of those, kinda big and all. Also, just as a quick aside, when you make your MP3's - what app are you using? Please let me know if that helps.Winterland

To be honest, I really think the solution is to use another player. In lieu of that have you downloaded all the updates and have the newest version
Release History - MPC Home Cinema
My computer has sound at startup but when I open wmv files and other formats, the video shows but not the sound. My "volume" is maximized and very loud when the computer starts and is shut off.
Is there some setting that I need to change?
Thanks
I don't think there are any codecs for wmv files, so you could try opening the file with a different program such as Media Player Classic.
I've been tying to play some MOV files with Quicktime and while I get the video, there's no audio.
I think I might be missing a codec or something because I got a message the first time around saying something to the effect that it's missing software and will try to connect to Apple to download it, but it ended up not being able to connect to the site.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.
Try installing Quicktime Alternative, with or without the included player. It will not conflict with Quicktime (though it is a good replacement for it) and contains many codecs.

Read other 4 answersI was using the install and change tool and there was a program "RON tool cpmsky" with no size or publisher info. When I try to uninstall it, it asks for a verification code which wants me to type the letters and numbers displayed above the text box. When I type the code and choose continue, the dialog box closes but nothing else happens. How can I get rid of this program?
I am frequently getting pop ups that have the title "RON ads by cpmsky" even when I don't have any browser windows open. I also have had sound files that are of someone talking about buy.com or something. There's a program in the uninstall/remove windows tool with the title RON tool cpmsky with no publisher or size information. When I try to uninstall it, it asks if I'm sure and warns me my computer may not run the same as before. I chose yes, and it wants me to type in a series of 7 letters and numbers displayed above the text box as an uninstall validation. I do and it closes the box but nothing happens. If I type it wrong, it doesn't close the box and says the code is invalid.
Also, when I log in, two "iexplore" processes start without any internet explorer windows opening.
also, sorry for not making a new post, I couldn't figure out how to edit the first one.
Where are they? Using Windows 10 build 1709. There are windows sounds but no media sounds under each heading such as "festival", "quirky" etc. Are they hidden or just not to be?

Can anyone tell me how to change format of files.
I am trying to send small voice files to friend.

How do I change ?

Since re-installing W7, I have no sound from MOV files shot on my Canon from Quicktime, VLC, Mediaplayer and Adobe Premiere Elements. I can convert the files to mp4 and they play fine in iTunes but still not with other players. There is sound for the first second but it quickly drops off to a muffle. I have installed a few codec packs but nothing has helped. I've attached some file parameters. The files also play on my W8 machine, no problem.
So technically I've solved the problem. Started thinking it couldnt be a Codec issue so I ran some diagnostics, etc to no avail. Then went to Control Panel - Sound - Playback and found alot of options for speaker systems. I just started changing the default speaker system until I got sound. What I dont understand is why iTunes and my system sounds still worked when the default sound system was incorrect. Any ideas?
How do you get a wav sound file that you download, to be your "Enter Windows," and Exit Windows" sounds? I have never done it before. I'd appreciate any help.
You didn't mention your windows version, but either 98 or xp are similar. In control panel look for sound and audio devices(for xp, I forget the exact wording for 98) and a box will pop up similar to the pic attached.
H there,
I'm having problems with no audio, or an annoying buzzing sound when I'm converting AVI files to dvd format. before converting everything is fine. But strangely some files will convert ok. Never had this problem before and I'm very confused. I believe its a codec problem maybe but I'm not very good with computers so any help will be great.
Is this a general problem or a single file problem? First start off with downloading : 1) KC Softwares Video Inspector2) GSpot Codec Information Applianceand render that file. It will tell you whether it is corrupt yes or no. Secondly :1) Which program do you use to convert and burn2) Which codec(pack?) you have on board

Probably codec problem. See if this will help.
No sound with avi files.
OK...I thought I would try this again since I am STILL stumped!
Is there a way I can burn files that are of real audio format?! I also have some that are in .au :( I need to get these on a CD in a format that is playable by a normal cd player!
Please help! I am desperate! :(
I found a program that might be what you want...
I know for a fact that it converts .ra files to .wav, but I'm not sure about the .au files.
It is at http://www.remixer.com/downloads.htm
edit: it is under the 'featured files' section
After system crashed, got it restored but all my MIDI and WAV files are missing, I cannot play CD's or any system sounds.
It seams that everything regaurding sound has been wiped out. I have tried reloading windows 98 and have tried to reinstall sound card but nothing seams to bring back sound.
i have gotten error message of there is not hardware or something but I am running out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated
We need to know the model / brand of your sound card before we can start to help.
You said your WAV files are missing? You did a Start, Find, Files for *.WAV and *.MID and nothing shows up?

Hi
I have an avi file that was saved from an interview room camera/recorder at the police station. The file is saved as an avi to a flash drive. It is then taken to a stand alone PC and copied from a USB flash drive to a DVD. The file is then played in WMP 9.0 and it plays fine.
But when I try to play it on any other computer I get video but no sound. I've tried different versions of WMP. I've tried VLC. I've downloaded different codec packs. I've tried other players such as Winamp and DVR. I will often get the picture but still no sound.
I tried converting the avi files to wmv. Video but no sound still.
However, it does play with sound on the stand alone PC they use to burn the discs.
Any ideas what to try?
hello
there seems to be some problem with the mp3 files.whenever a mp3 file is played with winamp the sound seems to be skipping(fast forwarded).
i recently downloaded a file from the net and it contained an two .exe files . i ran one of them .but it suddenly disappeared and was nowhere to be found.
as a habit i always scan all the files that i download before running them .i have ESET smart security business edition but it did not detect any threat in them.since then the pc began to act strangely.i have windows XP sp2 and since then the shut down process had a problem.the series of events that take place during a normal shut down took place except that at the time when the pc must shut down a dark blue screen with the error message was displayed.it read "windows logon process terminated unexpectedly with status of 0x00000000
the system has shut down"
i was desperate to solve the problem and ran SD fix.that solved only one of the two problems .the error message wasnt seen since then.but my audio still remains distorted.the twist in the tale is that when i play the audio with media player classic ,windows media player it seems to be ok.but when i transfer it into my portable mp3 player the the sound remains distorted.the windows environment seems to run fine except during the first two minutes.
hope someone looks into this matter at the earliest .
thank you

Well sounds like you might have uninstalled your soundcard driver. Try going to the device manager and check if any devices have yellow question marks. If your soundcard does then you will need to reinstall the driver.
