I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, is it worth it to upgrade from Thinkpad X1 Yoga 1st Gen OLED to Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2nd Gen (2017) OLED? I am very happy with my 1st gen but found an inexpensive 2nd gen OLED on eBay. The CPU is faster (7600u vs. 6700u). Something changed about the mechanics of keyboard retraction. And USB-C. I want OLED so 3rd gen is out of the question. The SSD is smallish (256GB) on the 2nd gen from eBay, so I am planning to replace the ssd with a 970 Pro 1TB. Any problems I could experience with this?

Hi, I purchased X1 Yoga 2nd Gen last November. Today a grey bar appeared on the screen at the bottom. Hi, thereI've bought the Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2nd Gen 20JDCTO1WW (2560*1440 OLED Version, 16GB RAM, 1T SSD, i7 CPU) last year. And the OLED screen started to flicker last month (Sep. 2018).  It even flickers on the BIOS menu so I'm pretty sure it's a non-software issue. After seeing many related threads on this forum, I think the OLED screen must be replaced. However, The warranty have been expired since June, 2018 and the flickering problem did not occur at that time. So I have to pay for the new screen. I've heared on the forum that the NEW OLED SCREEN could start flickering again after one year. So instead of buying another another OLED screen that could fail after another year, I'm thinking to purchase a 2560*1440 WQHD IPS screen since X1 Yoga 2nd comes with 3 versions of screen. Now I wonder if the WQHD IPS screen (of course for the IPS version of X1 Yoga 2nd) is compatible with the OLED screen? Are the connectors on the OLED and the IPS same? I would be appreciated if any advice/information could be given.

Hi, everyone. I have a Thinkpad X1 yoga with OLED display. I bought it on last November. After having it for half a year, I found a problem about the screen. When I turn down the brightness to below 20 or to the darkest. I can see the screen is flashing. It is very annoying. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Many thanks. Here is a video that helps to understand the issue better.

HiFor X1 YOGA OLED, Is it normal to have screen showing WHITE colors warmer than non-oled version of X1 YOGA. I have oled version as home computer, and my corporate laptop is the non-oled version (i guess it is called lcd). I see oled being bit warmer than lcd. Is this normal? Can i decrease the screen warmth? There is an intel graphics setting utility installed, but i couldnt really configure it properly to decrease warmth. Any tips welcome.

I'm having issues where in gradients, the blacks are becoming horribly blocky and pixelated. I know there was another user on this forum that had that issue, and I was wondering if any lenovo specialist could confirm that this is a known issue, and is warranty-able. Pictures of my OLED's black pixelation problem: http://imgur.com/a/1PvWt

Acco,

Would you be able to provide additional information to assist with reproducing the issue with pixelated blacks?

The current versions for these drivers:

Device manager - System devices - Intel® OLED Panel Driver - Driver tab - Driver Version

Once you have done this, please upgrade these drivers and review the picture quality to see if this has been resolved:

I have a Thinkpad Yoga 12, and on the display, a small bright spot develops when the device is on long enough. It only seems to be easily visible on lighter colors and webpages, midtones and dark colors/blacks doesn't show it. When the device is first booted, nothing appears on the display and everything looks uniform, but gradually, a light spot develops. From seeing previous forum posts about light spots, they say it's caused either through faults in the display, pressure, impact, or heat, and judging by how it takes a few minutes for the spot to form, I'd imagine it comes from heat or something under the display(?)If the device is out of warranty, is there any way of fixing this?

Got new X1 Yoga 2nd Gen OLED, having problems with the display settings.  The screen colors are incredibly rich and the colors are borderline neon and strain the eyes after more than 15 minutes of use.  I finally found a way to reduce the neon glow by going to the Intel Graphic Settings and adjusting the color gamut option slider from vibrant to one step down toward natural colors.  The problem, is that after a the computer is put to sleep or restarted, it goes back to the neon colors.  Is there a way to get these settings to stay without having to change it every time I open up the computer?  The display is amazing for viewing movies with super vibrant sharp colors, but when it's in vibrant factory settings its very bad.  The colors on webpages and onscreen keep increasing and decreasing in brightness randomly.

My X1 Yoga 2nd Gen OLED has a great feature wherein, outside of normal Windows screen dimming, within the Lenovo Settings app, user can set a "Task Bar Dimmer" timeout and a "Background Dimmer" timeout. This is described as a power-saving feature, but in reality its a great way to ensure that the OLED screen doesn't experience burn-in over time when on-screen items are displayed for prolonged periods. However, when I connect to an external monitor (which is almost always), the Task Bar Dimmer and Background Dimmer ONLY affect the external monitor and no longer affect the OLED display, where (IMO) this is far more important. Am I missing something, or is this a bug? Dimming the taskbar on the OLED is far more critical than on my monitor.

Hi all, About 1 month ago I dropped my X1 Yoga on the ground and the screen cracked. I don't have the warranty on this laptop. This is an OLED model and I spent some time finding a proper screen replacement. Now I just received the new unit and very carefully put it in, connected the 2 wires, and tried to turn it on. The laptop boots up with a black screen, keyboard is working, and I can enter Windows and hear the notice voices. But the screen is not turned on, no backlight, no image, although it looks identical to the original screen and is connected in the exact same way.  Any suggestions? P/N is 01AW977.

A:X1 Yoga OLED - replaced screen unit not working

My guess is that you blew the backlight fuse (on the motherboard) when the screen broke.  Most shops don't do that sort of repair.  I will need a new vocabulary.  OLED screens don't have normal backlights.  I will have to call it the illumination fuse.

See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYaIh8wqwsI I've been using this laptop for 3 months now and the issue started last night. After being off all night, it was working ok for about 4 hours today, but then started doing this again. Turning screen off/on or changing resolution can "fix" the issue temporarily, but it starts back within minutes. Even just booting up into the bios menu and waiting long enough has produced the issue once it's started. Average reported tempatures during use today: 39-49C, so I don't think it's overheating. I updated BIOS from 1.15 to 1.25 just-in-case, but I get the feeling I'm going to have to send this off for repair. Is this a common issue? The closest thing I found was flickering with reduced brightness but that looks nothing like this, plus I've run at 100% brightness since purchase. I can't help but notice 3rd gen has dropped the OLED option... Considering I use this machine for work, I'd take a matte IPS if it's going to be more reliable than this OLED display.

Hi, I have the following issue since a couple of days (not sure it came with a recent windows/drivers upgrade): When I set the screen brightness to low, or the screen dims itself in a dark environment, it starts to flicker - there are flashes of white/blue as long as the brightness is low. Increasing the brightness gets rid of the problem. I tried disabling the panel self reflesh (PSR) which seemed to help others, but no success there. Anybody got the same issue and a possible solution? My specs: Windows 10 1709, Intel Graphics Drivers Version 21.20.16.4727 Video of the flickering:

I've been having similar issues as the other people on this board with the OLED screen.  It started off, only being an issue when below a certain percentage and would go back to normal after incrases the brightness, then eventually became where it didn't matter the brightness. Sometimes it would be blue bars across the screen, when it's really bad, the screen would have a dark red hue and black bars. Sometimes the blue bars would go away if I turn off the display, but eventually come back.  But I sent it in for repairs, but the issue is, the problem is the issue isn't consistent. According to the website they managed to fix the device all in one day, is there anyway to figure out what they did to the laptop? I'm worried they recieved the laptop and when they  turned on the laptop, they didn't see the issue and just sent it back. Because right before I shipped it, the screen was working fine at that moment. I'm only trying to get everything done, before semester starts back in January and before my warranty expires. (While the OLED screen is very beautiful, I honestly don't trust it to hold up.)

My laptop screen started flickering the other day. A reboot solved the issue. Then it started happening more and more. Now I've rebooted a few times and I can't get past it. See the attached video. I don't believe it's the graphics card - if I plug in an external monitor everything is ok. Changing screen settings such as resolution also, doesn't help the issue and the issue appears even on the bios screen. I'll contact support about this, but they never have any interest in helping solve a problem remotely. They always jump to sending me a box and telling me it'll take 2 weeks to fix... which is a major problem since I work remotely and have no other PC. Also any devices I had connected to Thunderbolt ports were turning on and off. I'm not sure if the issue was related.

Any help / tips on this? System fully updated.... I am not finding a pattern for it.... It happened once to me like five weeks ago, but not again. Suddenly happens every time after Lenovo BIOS update followed by two days ago the Windows 10 system update. So I am attributing it to it and to a BIOS vs. OS conflict of some sort. This is also because it does not seem to be a hardware problem... it can work [almost] perfeclty well for hours and without any screen alteration [flickering] and then just flicker the next day on start up / boot and will continue to flicker. And when works well, I move the screen and it does not alter ... does not flicker... really strange if it were due to a hardware problem. Anything to due with heating/cooling? unlikely, but eventually works with only a low brightness band and in these cases when screen working like that [without major flickering] it does not alter for hours. Thus when having been working for a certain period of time [without sleep], it does not flick(er)... I know there is another thread, but it says on low brightness..... and this happens in any possible screen resolution and brightness combination. All checked so far without any success.....  ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2ndProduct Number: 20JES16Q00BIOS: N1NET42W 1.29Microsoft Windows 10 Pro - 10.0.17134.1

Should I get the 1st gen while I still can? It appears that for some reason (e.g. cost reduction?) the 2nd gen has a worse screen with only 85% aRGB (while the 1st gen has 98% aRGB). The 2nd gen also appears to be slightly hotter and heavier. I don't care about the performance improvement by Kaby Lake over Skylake. I care about roboustness, durability and reliability.

Hi, Has anyone out there in the UK ordered an X1 Yoga with OLED and received it yet?  I ordered mine and it missed the 11 day shipping window.  When I phoned they said it has been moved back to the 8th Aug.  6 weeks after from my order going in.  I received no notification at all about the delay, which is quite poor customer service in my opinion. After some checking it seems the delay is the 1TB SSD, I have asked if I can modify the order to make it a 512GB model which ships in 9 days currently and have that order expideted, but lets see if they come back to me this time. Anyone else had this issue?

With a USB-c power supply, the negotiations between a power supply and a device are more complicated than they are between a dumb power supply and a laptop.  90w, 20V should be possible.  I think 100W is the maximum defined limit, but you would have to test it to be sure.  There are compatibility issues with different brands.  What are you trying to solve?  Faster battery charge?  I am not certain it will charge faster.  Again, you wound need to test it.

Hi, Two days ago I bought a new X1 Yoga with OLED display. In some dark themed apps like Tidal or Steam it seems like there are some slightly darker areas on the display. When looking at the screen in a dark environment and a dark grey background color, there are visible artifacts and differently illuminated areas of the screen.  It is only that visible in a dark surrounding and for dark colors. Is that normal for OLED display or a flaw in my panel?
