Q: SUDDENLY CANT SEND/RECEIVE from my HOTMAIL GMAIL accounts in WIN 81 mail...

I have tried everywhere to get a solution to this problem but to NO Avail..... my emails go to OUTLOOK.COM but that is not suitable for me...I prefer my Microsoft Mail box....
I have Hotmail/Gmail on my iPhone and that is no problem......grateful for your help....

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I have been using WLM for quite some time and my hotmail account is configured in it and approx 2GB+ of my local HDD space has been piled up in it in all previous mails etc stuff.

Occasionally my WLM 2011 did gave me similar synchronization fails but I was ok after trying little tricks ( found on searching net) like closing and re-opening WLM any times, like making IE default browser and resetting its all setting to default( even though already default) then launching WLM and many other similars.

Perhaps after WLM updated recently, it is not synching with my emails and no such above trick is working. I am stuck up. ( my hotmail account on web is working finen

By searching on net recently feels to me like I am not alone and many others have had same issue after the WLM update.

After reading several posts two common solutions available i-e either delete your email account in WLM and re configure it or your account need to be adjusted by somebody.

Windows Live Mail (Web based hotmail) will not let me connect to the section (options) that would allow me to send/receive other accounts (add an email account) (pop). I keep getting the same error message whether using Firefox or IE:

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

Having got all of my standard stuff, including having MS Outlook handle my email accounts, sorted out; I decided to give the new Windows 10 Mail Application a try.
Unfortunately I cannot get it to do a darned thing:-
1. With my Hotmail account I get error code 0x80070032. I've tried a couple of suggested "solutions" without success.
2. With my Gmail account I get "We didn't find anything to show here" or "Still working on it". Either way nothing shows up.

Maybe I should just stick with MS Outlook.

However, if anyone could help I'd be very grateful.

For your Hotmail account, change the setting for getting the emails to 'last 3 days' and see if it works. If it does, change it back to whatever interval selection you want.

Usually when Google or other account say those, it's also a syncing issue. Might want to try playing with those settings as well.

I have both outlook.com (same as Hotmail) and Google working in the new Windows 10 mail app and even on my Windows 10 phone preview build. So they can work if you find the problems with your settings.

I'm using outlook 2007 on a windows vista ultimate PC. I have four email accounts set up: two of which are current and two of which are now old. I want to be able to disable the send and receive on the two old accounts but don't know if removing these accounts will mean I can no longer see the emails.

All the accounts are IMAP accounts.

I've tried playing with the send and receive groups - first I tried unticking the Include this account in the group box for both old accounts, but that didn't work. So then I tried creating a group to exclude the two accounts. The two old accounts are in this group and the group is set to NOT be included in the F9 send and receive.

But it's not doing anything.

So my question is, how can I stop it trying to send and receive on the two old accounts? If I just remove them from the account section, won't they also dissapear from the Mail section?

This Outlook install is part of Office 2010. Everything was running fine until this morning. I did a lot of searching and found a reference to a Control Panel setting. However, now, it appears that Control Panel has gone missing!!! I ran a utility on the command line, I forget the actual command, to deal with corrupted files. It found some issue, so it said. I rebooted. Nothing has changed... I've wasted the whole day so far.
I don't know if it is related but I seem to also have problems on some web sites displaying images. As if the HTML is displayed only, without the css settings. (Chrome browser) - same on Firefox browser. Has anyone seen this kind of problem?

If it's the Windows Control Panel you need, right-click the Start button [same look as on the Windows key] and choose Control Panel from the list.

I use Outlook 2010 to process several email accounts. I noticed a few days ago that a couple of the email accounts had vanished from the list. I also noticed that one still present was not sending or receiving. I tried re-entering the password and when that didn't work I deleted and re-entered the account. It tests fine but the test message never shows up in my Outlook inbox. It does show up immediately on my phone when I check my mail there.

What gives?

I haven't had this problem in the past, but I've tried sending emails last week and today to people with hotmail addresses. I'm using MS Outlook Express. Can you tell me why I'm suddenly receiving this message with hotmail addresses and if there is anything I can do? thanks!

The explanation in the message sounds about right. It could also be that the e-mail address has been de-activated because the owner hasn't logged into it for 30 days, maybe their inbox is full too. I'm not sure what happens message wise if you try and send to a full hotmail inbox but you're only allowed 2mb for free.

Hi, I am trying to get Lotus Notes 9 social edition to connect to my Verizon ISP mail servers (pop.verizon.net and smtp.verizon.net).
The replication tab gives an error message: "SSL IO error Remote session no longer responding.Failed with pop server pop.verizon.net".
I did a trace using preferences->Notes ports and it tells me there is no path to the server. I configured my Windows firewall to allow
notes to access the internet. I still can't "see" the mail servers (a Windows command line "ping" times out for either server). I have the correct server names and ports in the "accounts" entries in Lotus Notes (checked several
times). These servers require SSL access. Is there something in the networking part of Windows that I need to set up? An SSL certificate of some kind? Do I need to set up and use a VPN?  What am I missing? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi there,

I am desperate! My Outlook Express suddenly stopped allowing me to send or receive any of my business accounts, although it still gets and sends my Hotmail emails. It was working fine at the office, and then suddenly stopped when I brought it home and connected via wireless at home.

Now I'm back at the office and it doesn't work. It keeps prompting me for my password even when I hit cancel. I've gone back to the Accounts info and unchecked the box that says "account requires authentication" -- nothing. I get these errors:

Hello all. This is driving me mad. Hope someone can help!

Running Windows XP SP2
Home network w/ DI-524 router ethernet to desktop, wireless laptop, cable internet connection. Everything was fine... :)
Then suddenly one day three weeks ago we can no longer send mail. Receives fine, but sent just piles up in outbox. On both computers.

My wife uses Outlook Express which generates this error:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.3web.com', Server: 'smtp.3web.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I use Opera, which generates a similar, but more generic error. Thunderbird fails similarly.

I can't telnet to smtp.3web.com from inside my network, but I can from an external unix shell account. 3web swears there is no problem on their end, although their teir 2 support have yet to call me back.

I was running Zonealarm, which I have since uninstalled. I now am using just the XP native firewall (and my router). Have tried turning off the windows firewall AND bypassing the router (just for long enough to see if it worked) (It didn't).

Updated to the most recent firmware for the router. No change.
Reset the router to factory defaults. No change.

When I ran Wireshark to check out the network traffic when I tried to send via smtp, it would show 3 attempts with no ACK and then a RST from the smtp server - but doesn't this mean I'm *reaching* the server, I'm just not being allowed i... Read more

My wife's Hotmail and Yahoo accounts were fine one day and completely gone the next. She had used both accounts the previous day.

She waited 24 hours...then two days and nothing came back. She went up to an internet cafe to try to log in there but no luck. She wrote to Hotmail help. When she typed in her address, it seemed the account didn't seem to exist.

She has another account that was fine. My email accounts (on a different partition were fine.)

We're using XP and a cable hookup. The firewall is on and fine.

She has checked and checked again. It's been a week now and there is no indication that her accounts ever existed.

Any idea as to what may have happened? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I usually receive e-mail on a regular basis.
A few days ago, I received only a few e-mails and NO JUNK
MAIL (which is okay with me) and today, I have received NO E-mail.
I was puzzled, until people started contacting me in other ways to say
that my hotmail was full (trust me, it's not) and their e-mails had been returned.
Late yesterday I realized that the only e-mails I had received were
from people with hotmail accounts, but now those have even stopped.

Since this morning, I can no longer log into my hotmail account or into my account on a website where one can upload texts from one's home computer and post them on said website. If I try to log in, all I get is "page cannot be displayed" each time. It doesn't make a difference whether I use Internet Explorer or Firefox. I can only log into hotmail and into the text-website if I deactivate Windows Firewall and use my VPN client instead (the VPN client doesn't work with the firewall on). So I tried logging in without Windows Firewall and without the VPN client - it didn't work. So I don't know where the problem lies. I have never had it before. My computer runs on Windows XP Home SP2 with the latest patches installed. There are no viruses or spyware...not that I can see, anyway. I am posting my hijack log just in case, though.
I don't want to use my VPN client all the time just to check my hotmail account and upload documents, especially since the VPN client is property of my university and strictly for research purposes...Here you go:

My googlemail account is directed to my Applemail.

I can receive incoming mail but cannot send out mail.

I have the correct settings: incoming: imap.gmail.com - port 993 SSL
I have the correct settings: outgoing: smtp.gmail.com - port 465 SSL

These are the correct settings as stated my gmail. Also accounts that I created under this email in my Applemail account have disappeared on my apple but I can see them in the gmail.

For info... I can receive and send mail directly from my gmail account but when it comes via my mac and iphone, I cannot.

Please help. Everything looks fine in Gmail but when via my Apple... which has worked OK for the past 9 months, seems to not work. Not sure if I updated new Apple software that causes some problems.

I'm working on a job at a pediatrics center, they have a local domain running on Server 2003, and they recently were unable to receive e-mails being sent from external sources, but could send to them just fine, also, sending/receiving to each other internally works.

The first thing I did when I showed up there is run a DNS report (using http://www.dnscolos.com/) on their public domain (PEDSRUS.ORG) and there were 2 areas where the MX Record Failed:

Connect to mailserver smtp.secureserver.net FAILED (could be greylisting)
Connect to mailserver mailstore1.secureserver.net FAILED (could be greylisting)
550 sorry, mail to that recipient is not accepted (#5.7.1)


The server should have an A record which points to the mailserver for the hostname
which is presented in the greeting

220 pre-smtp20-02.prod.mesa1.secureserver.net ESMTP
220 pre-smtp17-02.prod.mesa1.secureserver.net ESMTP

They purchased this domain from GoDaddy.com and I've been tinkering with the DNS and MX Records in there, but can't seem to find a resolution for this.

Any sort of leg up would be extremely appreciated!

How on earth are you using Outlook Express on Windows 7. I use Outlook Express 6.0 on my WinXP and it works great but they don't do Outlook Express for Vista/Win7/Win8.

I tried copying the folder over and registering the dll's but when run its says something like Outlook Express is not made for this operating system.

I do have Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 (I know its old but I hate the newer Office with stupid pictures) on my laptop and that works. I really wish Outlook Express was available.

They recommend Windows Live for emails.

The strange thing is I also have Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 on WinXP but I don't use it. I only use it to import emails and contacts then save them as pst files then copy these over to my laptop.

I use dell latitude d800, linksys modem/router, dialup attglobal adsl with plusnet,
firefox browser, thunderbird 3.6. before updating to the latest version everything worked ok but my work computer using almost the same setup has no problems.i can still send and receive mail via att. the att help desk suggested sending mail to myself at the home machine and once again got the same message, "an error occurred sending mail. the mail server sent an incorrect greeting. unauthorised interface error for 84 92 150 82 (plusnet site)

You can check several things to help resolve being able to receive but not send e-mail messages.

1. Outgoing SMTP server requires authentication: Just check that My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication check box is selected in your email account.

2. Outgoing SMTP server requires Secure Password Authentication (SPA): verify that the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) check box is selected.

OK, this is a bit weird, but apparently the solution is to delete the existing account, and then put it back in from scratch. I don't know why that fixes it, adding a duplicate of the original and disabling the original did not fix it. It still seems very strange that (now up to 4) computers decided overnight to have this problem.

Anyway, this issue is resolved now, at least until those computers magically stop working again (if that happens I know it means trouble).

I have a Dell laptop with WIndows XP. At home we have a wireless connection to Comcast broadband, at work an SBC dsl. The computer word perfectly in both places for over two years. But now, while I can get on the internet and receive email in both Outlook and outlook express at work, I cannot send email - at all.

Yet, when I get home, bot OE and OL work perfectly. Spent 30 minuted with the Comcast tech, could send and receive email from the web, so he insists the problem is not theirs.

Recently I get this error:

I have used OUTLOOK ver with ease for many months sending and receiving my ISP based mail and yahoo accounts through my router. Slightly off topic yet by way of explanation I could not update certain progs like Norton updates so I manually disconnected the router and set up my old broadband modem and the updates worked. I also updated windows and as I was without router ( hardware firewall ) I updated Zone Alarm also. I then noted I could only send email, not receive though I could see the download staus bar start to slide from left to right prior to the error messages in all the accounts. My first reaction was to disable Norton but that did not cure matters.

I decided to trace back my steps and reverted to my router and to my dismay I cannot now download mail that way any more :-( Obviously I checked all the mail settings in Outlook despite having NOT touched them, all seems ok. I also tried system restore but I could not roll back to the point I wanted. I am now at a loss as what to do, can someone help please?

If you updated ZA to version 6.0 and did not uninstall your current version first, then you may have a corrupt ZA database causing the problems. I'd suggest a reset. Reset the database this way; you will lose your customizations and will need to reconfigure Zone Alarm.

1. Boot your computer into the Safe Mode. {Instructions if needed}
2. Navigate to the c:\windows\internet logs folder.
3. Delete the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files in the folder.
4.Reboot into the normal mode.

I am running win xp and win 2000 on seperate boxes. E-mail is O.E. and i can receive all e-mails but cannot send .I am getting the " server terminated errror " but other internet functions are working fine . Below is what i have tried so far with no results on both systems :

When I click on send/receive message, It shows a quick connection window and immediately a disconnecting message.
To try to fix this I downloaded the Windows Live mail program, which had the same problem.
I did try a repair of Windows Live via the ad/remove in the control panel.
Then I downloaded the Thunderbird e-mail program from Firefox and in that program all works correctly.
Next I contacted the internet provider, but all they told me how to set up the
e-mail program.
I can also retrieve my e-mail from the internet provider, but their e-mail program has less features then the others.

I have searched the net and forums for a solution, but there were no clear parallels to my problem.

The problem was fixed by deleting the e mail account (after saving all the e mail folders) and re-creating it. I hope this will help other members who have a problem with windows mail.

a box comes up and says "Enter Network Password" whether you tick cancel ok or save password it keeps coming up .I dont have a network . It is Office 2007 on xp pro sp3 been using for long time . After re-doing profile and a couple of other tips , I uninstalled Office and reinstalled it ---still got the problem . I can see my mail in my ISP so there's mail there, I am puzzled by this any help please .

I just got in a new laptop for my wife. It has windows vista home edition. I set up Windows Mail and Microsoft Outlook 2007 and imported old messages from Outlook Express with no problems. I can send mail thru my web mail server withou any problem. I can't receive any messages from the web mail server. There are plenty messages there waiting to be downloaded. Both Windows Mail and Outlook are doing the same thing.
The trial version of McAfee was deleted thinking it may be blocking me. Can anyone help?

New HP computer ( Japanese operating system ) . My Japanese wife setup the email . We discovered yesterday that she goofed when she entered the server address for outgoing mail , so I can only receive mails . Can't figure out how to correct this problem . It's Sat. here in Japan so no support available today from MS . Anybody know how I can go about correcting the trouble ?

who is your host? should be the name after the @ symbol in your email address (*@hostaddress.com)

I know that with GMail it's smtp.google.com and it requires encryption...

either encryption has been turned off, the outgoing server address is wrong, it's set to the wrong port, or something else. It's hard to tell, but I can try to locate the info.
I did a quick search and the first hit said that yahoo! mail is most popular in japan, so I found the instructions for it
hit "f10" on your keyboard to enable the toolbar, then click on "Accounts" in "tools..."
double-click on your account
in the "servers" tab (2nd), make sure that the "my server requires authentication" (bottom) is checked
Outgoing server: smtp.mail.yahoo.co.jp unless it it Yahoo! BB account: ybbsmtp.mail.yahoo.co.jp
click on "advanced" (last tab) and make sure this is correct:
outgoing mail (smtp): 587.
check "this server requires authentication"
the original tutorials may be easier to follow

I have been driven mad for the last 1-2 weeks. Been looking for so many solutions but can't really find anything definitive out there. The one thing I did find I got stuck and could not find any additional help on it.

Anyway's, I have Vista Home Premium x64 and I was trying to hook up my Gmail account to Outlook 2007. It can neither send or recieve it goes to like 66% then gets the following error message:

"Task" <username>@gmail.com Receiving reported error (0x80042108) outlook cannot connect to your incoming (POP3) e-email server.

I tried re-installs as what was recommended, deleting the account, checking the firewalls, even turned the whole thing off to check but same problem. I have checked the settings time and time again and they are correct:


I have tried the Safe (Networking Mode) and it works but I need it to work in Normal mode. I know many recommendations say debugging etc.. but wondering if there are any updates etc.. that I need to add or remove to make it work in normal mode?

Oh, I have turned on the TELNET client and tried to telnet pop.gmail.com but kept getting the following error:

IMAP or POP3 ?

If you are using IMAP, then your Incoming mail server is ....

New on this forum so forgive me if I don't give all the info needed.

I'm trying to set up a new laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit) for my husband who uses both Virgin and Google mail. I want to use Outlook 2007 and IMAP mail accounts for both of these as he also uses a desktop and occasionally works from internet cafe's etc. Outlook 2007 appears to have installed successfully and is working properly for Virgin mail and for Google Calendar but whenever I try to send/recieve it stalls at 81% during Google folders sync (which is where most of his emails are stored). Sent mail and Virgin folders sync appear to be working OK (most of the time). The only time the Gmail folders sync correctly is the first time on start up. I've tried using Google unlock link which tells me I've unlocked successfully but still no joy.

Both accounts are working fine as webmail and IMAP is enabled.

Has anyone else experienced this. I've checked and checked the settings and still no joy. I have the same set up on my own laptop but that's running XP and works without problem (most of the time). I'm in dispair and on the point of switching to Thunderbird. Would that be the best solution (or perhaps even go back to Outlook 2003 since the more recent versions appear bug-ridden? I don't want to revert to POP service.

A:Outlook 2007 Send/Receive stalls with Gmail

You have probably checked the set-up, but maybe one more time (it takes just one small 'error')...
To set up your Outlook 2007 client to work with Gmail:
Enable IMAP in Gmail. Don't forget to click Save Changes when you're done.
Open Outlook.
For new setups, select Do not upgrade.
Click Yes.
Enter your display name, email address (including '@gmail.com'), and password. Google Apps users, enter your full email address, e.g. '[email protected]_domain.com.'
Select the 'Manually configure server settings or additional server types' checkbox.

Select Internet E-mail.
Settings: name, full email address (including '@gmail.com' or '@your_domain.com')In the Account Type dropdown menu, select IMAP; enter the incoming and outgoing server names shown below.
In the 'User Name' field, give your full Gmail address, including '@gmail.com' or '@your_domain.com.'
After creating these settings, clicking Next takes you to the end of the setup.
In the Tools menu, select Options then Mail Setup. Under 'Email Accounts,' click E-mail Accounts.
Select an account, and click Change above the list of accounts. Click More Settings, then the Advanced tab.Incoming server must be 993, and must use SSL encryption.
Outgoing server can use 587, TLS encryption.
Click the Outgoing Server tab. Make sure that 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication' is selected. The radio button 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server' should also be selected.

Windows mail stoped sending and recieving mail from my pop3 server. I can log into the servers website to read mail but cannot down/upload to my computer. The Internet provider is not able to help as the problem seems to be on my computer.
I have successfully used this mail for 2 years until last 3 weeks. Help anyone? Kapsa:)

I can receive gmails but i can`t send them, keep getting "oops try again later" I can`t post a message to this forum on my own computer ? It seems that I can`t send any messages through the web, my outlook still works fine . any ideas ? I have looked at the settings on my firewall but looks ok to me.

Two Win 7 computers (desktop & laptop), side by side, both with Outlook 2010, both with the exact same settings in Outlook, both plugged into the same router. Both receive mail perfectly. One sends without any problem, but the other has never sent successfully and always gets "Error 421." (And actually, there is a 3rd computer, another laptop, connected wirelessly to the router with the exact same 421 problem.) A quick try with Thunderbird on the one with the send problem had the same problem - receive but not send,

I have seen 421s when the ISP and smtp server were different but this is all with the same ISP. Given that one box CAN send, and the failure with Thunderbird as well, I am guessing it is some setting in Win7 but have no idea what or where. Suggestions???

With many Outlook problems the best solution is to delete the mail account and recreate it. It's likely the mail account got corrupted and even though it shows the correct settings it's still won't work properly.

Well I woke up to a Happy Mother's Day gift. My outlook e-mail will not work. I can't delete, send, or receive e-mails. I also ran a Hi-Jack This Scan and it is attached below. I just got this computer yesterday and installed AVG internet securites this morning.
I shut the AVG e-mail scan off to test it but I still didn't receive messages.
I have not updated the AVG yet. But am getting ready to. Just hope that helps.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I could not find anything. When I first open Windows mail it will send & receive once. After that I get a error:

Some errors occured while processing the requested tasks. Please review the list of errors below for more details. But here is nothing is there.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Also what are some good Windows mail back up & restore programs.
For outlook express I used ABF Outlook Express Backup it was great worked every time. It would backup messages,contacts,rules, accounts,passwords for the email accounts, IE favorites etc. I can not seem to find a all in one program like that fow Windows Mail.

About a month ago I had a problem with MSN Explorer 8. When I clicked on the "Mail" button, it would show me an error message (0x80072f78) and tell me that it was unable to connect to send or receive any emails. After about 5 chats with MSN tech support (during which I did everything from reset the accounts on my computer to completely uninstalling MSN Explorer and its registry files) I was told to wait 24-48 hours for a phone call from one of their top tech guys. The call never came, but two days later it started working again.

Now, the same problem has come back. I'm now running MSN Explorer 9 (since they made the upgrade available). Everything has been fine, up until this morning when it started to give me the error again. Talked with MSN support on the phone... they tried doing some things, none worked. They suggested I call my ISP (Telus) and ask if any ports were recently blocked. Telus said nothing has been changed.

Everything else I try on the net works great, including if I just go directly to hotmail.com to see my emails. I've installed no new programs, or made any changes before this happened. I'm running WinXP.

This was an intermittent problem but today seems to be permanent: I'm on Vista home premium, using Windows mail. I have a broadband connection. When I click Send/Receive the incoming mails arrive but I see a window headed "Windows Security" that asks me to Logon to my server (pipex) saying "please verify that both the username and password are correct". The "remember my credentials" box is already checked and however many tiems I enter my user name and password this window re-appears.
Webmail works fine for both send and receive.
I've had this problem ever since I got the new PC with Vista installed, (3 months ago) but until today it occurred only now and again and eventually I was always able to Send.

Have Zonealarm and NOD32.Disabling does not help.
