Dear Lenovo Staff,I'm experiencing multiple issues running Ubuntu on Lenovo Y700-17ISK laptop:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Linux-Discussion/Problems-running-Ubuntu-on-Lenovo-Y700-17ISK/td-p/3278... At the end, I installed Windows 10 alongside with Ubuntu 16.04 only because of BIOS updating.During the last month or two, it was impossible to find any BIOS file on 'Y700-17ISK Laptop - Lenovo Support' web page.Today I finally found a new BIOS update file: Released 7/18/2016, Version CDCN35WW. But when - hoping to solve problems running Ubuntu on Lenovo Y700 - I attempted to install this latest BIOS update file through Windows 10, I got the following error message: "the version of ROM file is the same as that of BIOS". And then I found this forum post (05-18-2016):"Please be advised that Lenovo is in the process of removing the BIOS CDCN35WW for ideapad Y700-15ISK, Y700 Touch-15ISK, and Y700-17ISK laptops in response to customer reports that the software does not execute as expected. Once the issue has been corrected, CDCN35WW or a newer version of the BIOS will be made available". Once the issue has been corrected, CDCN35WW version of the BIOS will be made available again????????So I downgraded my BIOS CDCN35WW to BIOS CDCN30WW, and after that I installed again BIOS CDCN35WW - everything went well, but now my BIOS shows it is CDCN30WW version??? I would be very grateful for any help, thanks in advance.Read other answers
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi! As one of those who had thought to upgrade my Lenovo y700 I've bought only 256gb SSD version. I've found a lot helpful information on this forum about installing HDD, all those connectors etc. But the open question for me is: HDD should be slim (7mm) or 9mm gonna work too? I have 9mm right now and if it's good I don't need to buy a new one. And is there chance to install another SDD as well? Should it be 7mm as well? And if so do I need to buy something different from those: Cable: 5C10K25544, Tray: 5B40K25518 for the SSD? Thank youRead other answers

Firstly, sorry for my English (I'm from Belarus) I have this laptop about 1 year. Every month i must change thermal paste. As soon as I applied the thermal paste, the temperature of the CPU and the GPU are good. Reach 75 degrees, but no more. Month later, i have 85-90 degrees at the CPU and 75-80 at the GPU. After a while, the CPU temperature reaches 99 and starts throttling. If I replace it again, good temperature come back. This happens in almost all games (Overwatch, Battlefield 4, GTA 5, CS GO (but this command helps me fps_max 120) at low-medium settings) Why? Manufacturer of thermal grease assures that it can not be changed for 5 years. When running normal programs and scrolling through facebook or anything, doesn't really matter, the computer freezes. Mouse will contiune to move all over but no reactions to clicking on anything. I have all the latest updates and BIOS. Windows 10 64. It has been doing it for awhile, but was hoping to see some updates for it since this PC is only 6 months old. I have only seen one forum item on this issue and basically it said to Start the recovery process again. I have already had to do this once for other reasons that fixed a problem. SHould not have to do that for each thing that goes wrong. The only way to fix the issue is to turn PC off and reboot using the off /on button.. It always comes back but at some point it will freeze again.Any help would be appreciatiated. ThanksRead other answers
Hello guys. I have Lenovo Ideapad Y700-17isk and when i buy it i have lags: Screen flicking. after two months of agony I solved the problem in the following way: 1. Im download Intel HD Graphics BETA driver on Intel site.2. Unistall current version, reboot laptop.3. Turn my internet connection off.4. Install BETA version of Intel hd graphics driver.5. Now screen flicking is gone. I dont have any lenovo software on laptop when do this actions. in windows has disabled the automatic loading of drivers and software for the devices. Windows 10 have been downloaded and installed again. That is, at the time of the fix I was not factory Windows, preloaded with drivers and software from Lenovo. Do not install software from Lenovo as this too can cause flickering in the model. You can put only the necessary drivers for the chipset, Nvidia graphics card, touchpad, camera and also to update the BIOS, worse than this model of laptop data items do not. The fact that the problem is related to the function of power-saving integrated graphics card (1 watt savings lol). This function was why removed it out of the panel Intel HD GRAPHICS, but some utilities, Lenovo is present and it can cause flickering. peace <3Read other answers
Hello, A couple of days ago I bought a new lenovo y700-17isk laptop. Just after windows 10 installation I started to get blue screens then using computer or even then I left pc idle. I updated all the latest drivers and updates but still the problem persists periodically. How this can be happening on a new laptop with fresh windows installed? I was reading that this might be because of the bios problem with these models(my bios version is CDCN27WW) and this is a well known issue for lenovo. I am wondering should I hope that this problem will be solved with bios update? or should I return this pc because I cant use it of bsod getting every hour. To get straight to the point, I have a Lenovo Y700-17ISK and it has a black screen when attempting to turn it on. The power button is lit, and the keyboard flashes once (keyboard turns off after flash) when initially pressing the power button. The only indication of it being on is the power button being lit. Hard Drive is not running, fans spins briefly (5-10 seconds), and the power button stays on. Is this motherboard failure? Thank in advance.Read other answers
I have overheating problem. Thermal paste was replaced on Arctic Cooling MX-4 a month ago. It helped for a while, the temperature did not rise above 74, but now I again see this problem. Hi, I have 2 of these laptops and one has a battery problem. In Win10 it shows that it can only charge to 93%. I can leave it for few hours and it will still only say 93%. If I take power brick from the other (that can charge to 100%) charging stops at 94%. The light indicator is white when on 93% but the % in windows indicator is bothering (not to me, but to the user). I think that there is a problem in Win10 indicator (since light indicator lights white), but even formating (and converting from Legacy to EFI) didn't solved the problem. Is there a problem with battery? EDIT: At what % does LED turns from orange to white? I checked indicator for white LED when laptop was turned off and charging. So I can't confirm if it charged to 100% and if it charges to 100% when turned on.

NO OPTION FOR INTEL OFF???? WHY LENOVO WHY?????)so that did not work either.please help. please. thank you.windows 1016 gb rami7-6700GTX 960Mintel hd 530 (i wish i could tear the thing right out of my laptop, i have no use for it at all)m.2 ssd P.S. i have no idea if it was ever working. was it ever working? maybe it never was and i never noticed? i dont think that's possible though because i was playing dota at max settings previously and it was working great, which would not even be remotely possible with the utterly worthless hd graphics, as evidenced by the fact that now, whenever i try to turn on dota, it instantly crashes. HELP!
Nvidia GPU is render unit only, and will not work without Intel GPU. That is why you cannot turn the Intel GPU off... Or even you can tear the Intel GPU off, you will see nothing as Nvidia GPU cannot work without it. As solution, it maynot help much because I have Y50-70 (although, Y700-17isk is very close relative). I suggest using all driver from Lenovo website. And do not update any driver, other then windows update (it will update but not to newest). You can atleast trust Windows update as most of the driver that did not work will be reverse to the working one (suggest by community and collected data). If both solution still not work try newest driver from both Intel and Nvidia, remember to install Intel first before Nvidia to make sure Nvidia GPU can communicate with Intel GPU (via Intel driver, obviously).Read other 1 answers

After a frustrating encounter with Lenovo tech support (during which I wanted to verify all parts needed to add a HDD to my y700-17isk which came only with 256G SDD), I have finally gotten all the parts in and installed them. However, neither Windows10 nor the Lenovo BIOS can find the new HDD. Has anyone else added a HDD to their y700-17isk successfully? Or did I buy a laptop that is incapable of taking this HDD?
for the record, the HDD (which was indicated by Lenovo Tech) is:WD Blue WD10SPCX 1TB 5400 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive and the cable (also identified by Lenovo Tech:5C10K25544 Physical install is a breeze.Read other 1 answers
Hello there. I have a few questions regarding the recent release of BIOS update with version number CDCN37WW. Currently my BIOS is on version CDCN35WW. I was about to install it yesterday but did not because of several reasons. I read the instruction saying that I should put the BIOS settings at its default settings before installing the CDCN37WW update and there lies my problem. I bought the 15ISK version with 1TB HDD. A month ago I bought a 128GB SSD and did a clean install of Windows 10 on my new SSD. After booting into Windows 10 on my SSD in Legacy Mode, I format the partition in the 1TB HDD which houses my default installation of Windows 10 (the pre-installed Windows 10 by Lenovo). I did not completely wipe the HDD altogether and thus I still have the partitions created by Lenovo. The main issue that is stopping me from installing the update is my BIOS settiings. In BIOS boot submenu, I have it set to Legacy and then Legacy First so that it detects my SSD. UEFI does not detect my SSD. Default settings sets UEFI instead of Legacy. In conclusion, I cannot install the BIOS update even if I wanted to because I won't be able to boot into Windows 10 on my SSD once I change BIOS settings to default because UEFI (default settings is set to UEFI) does not detect my SSD. My questions are: -1. Does anyone have any solution or workaround to this problem ?2. Is it really compulsory to set the BIOS settings back default ? Or is it just a "... Read moreRead other answers

When I use CPU-Z to look up my Hardware, at BIOS it says Missing String or in the Lenovo Settings App BIOS: N/AI've read that others had this problem too, but no one has found a Solution. I have a new Y700 gaming laptop and it is worse than my old Sony. It freezes at random during games (playing full screen mode). Lenovo and Best Buy both claim that there are no hardware issues. We have reinstalled the games and checked the drivers. The computer freezes when playing games and requires hard shutdown. That is, after thegame freezes you have to hold down the power button. Start Overwatch (the game). Double click the battle.net icon. Wait for it to load. Choose Overwatch icon on the left hand side bar. Then press blue play button. When game launches, press PLAY on left side. Then choose giant QUICK PLAY button on left side. Wait until a game is found. Press Select button. Wait (again) for game to start. Use mouse to turn and WASD to move. Find a part of game with intense graphics activity. Feel the pain as screen freezes. This also happens with other games (such as Batman, Arkham series, League of Legends, and Subnautica) as well. I have tried various graphics settings and still have the same problem. HELLO WORLD . I usually update BIOS and so on at here (http://support.lenovo.com/kr/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/IdeaPad-Y-Series-laptops/y700-15isk?ta...) Whenever I update BIOS, I had to open back panel and get rid of SSD (Samsung 950 Pro 256GB) to get into the BIOS settings, then I changed boot mode Legacy Support into UEFI and after I change Legacy to UEFI (I couldn't get into BIOS with my SSD on, there is just letters LENOVO on black background screen like just before Windows mark shows up. The reason I remove SSD is to get into BIOS and change settings concerning Boot Mode which is Legacy Supports or UEFI) , I insert my SSD back and boot. And I could check that my laptop's BIOS is updated. BUT ! Do I have to open back panel with a driver and remove SSD and re-setting boot mode and put SSD back and close the panel ? Is everyone doing what I've done ? it's very tedious and tiresome work to do. Whenever I want to update BIOS, I need a driver to open back and put SSD out and vice versa. Since unfortunate update of BIOS to CDCN53WW (and other November updates to drivers), I have strange problems with USB ports. If I turn on laptop with Logitech receiver in some port, there is quite a chance, that this USB port will be deactivated for given session. It's still on power though. Restarting laptop solves the problems, and when laptop is turned on with no USB device, problem is not replicable, so it seems like programming not hardware problem. Reverting to CDCN52WW made problem happens much less often, but it still persists. Has anyone similar problems? Is there know solution for this?Read other answers
