I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

As expected, Adobe today released an emergency update that patched a pair of critical vulnerabilities in its popular PDF viewing and editing software.
Adobe ranked both bugs as critical.
Last Thursday Adobe said it would issue a rush patch for Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat on Feb. 16; it made good on the promise today by addressing two flaws. One was identical to the cross-domain request vulnerability fixed last week in Flash Player, Adobe's ubiquitous media player, while the second was a vulnerability that attackers could exploit to install malware on a targeted machine.

I have been unable to connect to Microsoft update server for 3 months now, and when I install the MS rollup updates the OS still reports those updates have not been installed so it's impossible to keep up with what patches have already been installed. I have been having major problems with MS update since Windows 10 was released, but it was not until 3 months ago that I could not connect to MS Update Server at all.

Well, I contact Microsoft Support today after trying every possible fix for the past several months, and I speak with a support agent named Namrata Sarki. I explain to her that I have tried all possible solutions, and I have 8 Windows 7X64 machines that would not update with Windows 7 installed. I also explain to her that I have tried reformatting each machine, and none of them will update after a fresh installation of Windows. She then runs all her remote test, and then informs me that it is a problem with their update server so I will not be able to do anything about it. She proceeds to inform me that I will have to wait for a fix, and that many Windows 7 users have the same problem (which I already knew). She then informs me I should not trouble shoot the PC any further in case I want to call back about the issue in the future even though she already informed me they would have to fix the problem. I then explain to her that I need to use this PC for my College Classes which are all online, and that i'm a Network & Database Security major so all my... Read more

A:Microsoft Support says Security Patches will not make your PC more secure!

If security updates are not important, then why does Microsoft spend many millions of dollars per year to create fixes and push them ?

It's a monumental task involving thousands of Microsoft employees and an expansive infrastructure - both of which are no trivial expense.

The vast majority of M$ security patches address OS and application vulnerabilities. If those vulnerabilities still exist on a system, then it requires the execution of exploiting code.

If you don't connect outbound and don't download and\or run unknown\untrusted files, then there it is almost a certainty that nothing will happen to your system. But who uses their system like that ?

If you surf the net and use unpatched Internet Explorer or Edge, an exploit (execution of malicious code) might occur when you visit a website. Not to mention Flash - which Windows Update is needed to update. And, further, not to mention other product security updates for Office, Silverlight, Skype, etc.

So, I don't know how the tech could rationally state that security patches are not needed\do not make the system more secure.

Where do Microsoft security patches get installed within Windows XP?

A:Where can I view what Microsoft patches are installed on my machine

If you go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com (windows only) or update.microsoft.com (all microsoft products), and click on "view your update history" on the left pane, you should have them listed in reverse chronological order in which they were installed.
The other, more tedious way of doing it is looking in your event viewer. I think it's in the system log, and the events are entitled "NtServicePack". Double-click each one to see the KB number of the patch that was installed.

Thank you for all your support and security updates for my two Surface RTs.
They?re great and I don?t want to see them go.  A quick aside? It would be nice for my two Surface RTs and me, if Microsoft had a change of heart and decided to port Windows 10 RT with Office RT for Surface RT and get a few
more years support.  Anyway.
Today one of my Surface RT 8.1 provided the option on shut down, to update and restart, which I did.
It said it was installing 4 updates.  When rebooted, I went to view update history and found two failed updates and three successful ones for a total of five.
The first one in the list that failed is this one here below.

Then to get more information, I clicked the link shown there for 4048958 to learn more.
That took me to the Microsoft Security Update Guide, where I searched for 4048958 and was provide two links for RT 8.1.
Both links, one for IE11 and one for RT 8.1, go to the KB 4048958 article, which says to get more information, go to the Security Update Guide, which of course takes one back to the KB.
Not very informative loop I guess.
The second update that is on the list above showing as failed, is the one for Adobe to prevent remote code execution.
When I am in Windows Update and double-click the failed entry for Adobe, and then click the link for more information, it takes me to a URL that does not show a KB number and provides a link for more i... Read more

I have Windows 7, use IE 8. I keep getting the message that Adobe Flash Player 10 wants to make changes to my computer.....OR/AND.....I have lots of sites where the little pop-up bar shows up saying this site wants to install Adobe Flash Player. I have Adobe Flash Player 10 on my computer, and made all my Tools/InternetOptions/Security settings the same as my laptop running Vista and IE 8. I don't get that message at all on that laptop. What setting am I missing? On the pop-up window (the one that shows in the center of the screen about wanting to make changes to my computer) it give the option of YES or NO. It doesn't seem to make any difference which one I click on. Nothing happens, nothing changes, and the pop-up will reoccur frequently.

On a side issue, I am not getting instant email messages when there is a response to my threads. Do I have something set wrong?

I am relatively new to graphic design and imaging, but I have a question regarding my use of Adobe Illustrator CS3 and Adobe Photoshop CS3.

I have designed a logo in Adobe Illustrator CS3, and saved it as both an ".AI" file and an ".EPS" file.

Now, when I open the ".EPS" file in Adobe Photoshop CS3, it appears that the bright cyan (it's a white logo with one of the characters in bright cyan) is duller than what it seemed to be in Adobe Illustrator CS3.

Does anyone know why this would be, and what I can do to stop it?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I downloaded Adobe Photoshop (Portable) and installed it. Then I wanted to change the location where it was saved. I tried to move it but it couldn?t be moved so I copied and pasted it into a new location. I know I should uninstall but since I just wanted 1 copy, I deleted one.

After that, most of the other Adobe programs were affected. When I opened some, they would say that some files are missing or my license has expired. Some started asking for serial number or to register.

When I opened Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 it said Photoshop Elements Help was missing and there were missing icons on the right side.

So I uninstalled and reinstalled the programs. I downloaded some but they can?t be installed. It always says some files are missing.

What is the cause of the problem?
How can I fix this?

Dear Forum,

I know I have to do either a clean install, or an in place upgrade install soon . However, I just would like to repair my CS5.0 Encore that started acting strange lately (no new programs/hardware installed). I uninstalled/reinstalled the whole suite several times (using Control Panel > Programs and Features, Adobe Clean Tool, and CCleaner64). I noticed that several Adobe folders remained (In Program Files, Program Files (x86), and in Common Files within those folders). I even had PrPro.exe with a dozen dll-s in one folder (which, of course, didn't work). I have two other Adobe programs (Adobe Media Player, and Adobe Reader X).

My question: What would happen if after a thorough uninstall of all three programs (maybe RevoPro, instead of Programs and Features?) and after having no Adobe product installed in the system, simply delete all folders/files that have anything "Adobe"? Would still be shared dll files that needed by other non-Adobe programs? Would the registry cleaner delete all the bad registry entries that created by simply deleting the Adobe files? If it works, I would do the in-place repair install of Win 7. Or I will be advised to try this just before I am ready for a clean install () in case, if this ruins the system.

I would greatly appreciate any helpful advice (and I understand that might not be an answer to these questions).

A:After Uninstalling Adobe CS5, Adobe Folders and Files Remain

Just delete the leftover files , then use ccleaner to work on the registry , defrag a few times and you should be fine. If you still have problems come back and we`ll gladly help you do a clean install.

A:Unable to make Adobe Flash Player work

Hello Joao and welcome to Seven Forums.

I would uninstall Adobe Flash using the official Adobe uninstaller. Flash has been known to have security issues and when something disables the firewall my first thought is malware. You can always reinstall the latest version of Adobe Flash later on.

Uninstall Flash Player | Windows

Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player

Now run a full scan with whatever antivirus suite you have installed. Make sure you have the latest updates. No anti-virus product is 100% effective 100% of the time. It's always a good idea to run some additional on-demand scanners. These are recommended and they are all free. If your machine does have malware, I'd suggest using Windows Defender Offline first. It can scan your machine before booting into the operating system so malware has less of a chance to hide. Make the bootable disk on a different computer - one that you know is not infected. Even if WDO comes back clean, I'd still run the other scans "just in case."

Windows Defender Offline

ESET Online Scanner

If all scans come back clean I would next check for damaged or corrupt system files. Run a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If any problems are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Please post back if anything helped or not.

Our patch policy states that we only deploy Critical and Security Microsoft updates to endpoints (predominantly Windows 7 devices) that we support.
However we have noticed that the third party that setup our patch deployment through AutoTask have setup Rollups to be deployed as well as Critical and Security Patches to all endpoints.
Aren't Rollup patches a consolidation of all Security patches that are individually released on Patch Tuesday and non critical patches (which we dont have to deploy)?
Need some direction on this so we can decide whether to deploy Rollup patches or remove them from the approved list through Autotask.

I created a pdf. file from a document that had 'fill-in forms'. I used Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0. to create the PDF file.

I then I burned the pdf. file on to a CD.

When I used my Adobe Reader 9.0 to open the PDF file, I could fill-in the forms, but not save them. I received a message that said I could not save the information, only print it unless I enabled the ‘local save capability’ in the original pdf. file.

I will be selling the CDs and need the buyer to be able to fill-in the forms, and then save the document on the CD or the buyer’s computer.

1. How do I enable the ‘local save capability’ on Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0, saving the document with the information typed into the fill-in forms?

2. How can I write protect the pdf. file so no one can edit it (except for the fill-in fields) nor duplicate the disk?

I can't answer all of your questions, but data on a CD is read only, you won't be able to save the edited file on that CD.
It can only be saved on the hard drive & then burned to CD again, if necessary.

Not sure where this should end up,but I'm sure it will be guided to the correct forum,as always.
After doing quite a bit of reading today,I decided that the Adobe PDF viewer is a resource hog. I uninstalled any traces of it I could find in my add/remove programs part of my pc. Just a few minutes ago while reading another post here at BC, I discovered I had to install Adobe Flash player to view an article thru YouTube.
My question is how does flash differ from the pdf viewer? They're both an Adobe thing, right?

I opted to download a small viewer called Sumatra,by the way.

A:Adobe flash player+Adobe pdf viewer

It's a different product and unlike Adobe Reader, there are no alternatives for Flash.

I see on the threads that others have had this problem. For some reason I can't get Adobe to work; so I went and installed the newest version, and it doesn't work either. YouTube and others just say I need it. I go to Adobe, and it says I have it installed. I look in my computer "add install" list, and there it is. It is there, but for some reason YouTube and others are not "seeing" or connecting with it. I've uninstalled it and installed it twice, and each time shut down the compute and turned it back on.
The thread I looked at the guy had a similiar problem, but no resolution nor did he say what he finally did to get it working. His was a new computer, so he could take it back; mine is not.

Hi guys, I'm really hoping somebody can help me because this problem is driving me crazy!
I bought a brand new HP Pavillion Laptop 2 weeks ago and the problem is I can not watch videos at all as either a blank box is displayed or it tells me I need to install Flash Player.

The laptop already had flash player though it was not the most recent one so I tried downloading the new one. That did not work.

Since then I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling flash player many times. I have done this by running it from adobes website and also saving to desktop and the installing it. I have rebooted after every un/installation.

If I go here http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ it displays a box telling me I have Flash Player version 10.3.. installed

I have tried going on internet options and making sure security is set to medium

I have checked that everything is enabled in manage add ons.

I have downloaded cccleaner and ran a registery scan to see if that helped.

I have enabled scripting in internet options security.

Im not sure what else to try!

I have windows 7 64 bit and am using internet explorer 9 (32 bit) and the problem is also there on other browsers (firefox and google chrome)

If any body could help it would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading

Recently my flash player quit working on me in the middle of a youtube video, it just quit playing and said i needed to install the latest version of Adobe. So i went and uninstalled it, rebooted, and installed the newest version. It is still telling me that i need to install latest version. I have done several uninstalls and reinstalls, but with no luck. My computer is showing that it is installed and working, and no problems with installation, add-ons are enabled for browser, but it's still not registering that i have a flash player installed. Please help. I even went through and did a clean installation of flash player.

A:Adobe Flash Player installed but not working

You need to use the uninstall tool at the link below or you won't be able to reinstall it properly.

Reader doesn't install no matter how many times I repeat the procedure. Originally, I thought it was because of HP's pre-installed "PDF Complete" bloatware, but even after uninstall and reboot, it doesn't seem to work.

Anyone else ever encounter this problem (and its solution)?

Hi there, I hope you can help me - essentially I got a lot of unwanted programs when I attempted to install Adobe FlashPlayer update.
What Happened:
Yesterday (08/08/2015) I was browsing a Sports News site using Firefox and was asked to update abode flash player to play one of the videos. The adobe update page appeared (may have clicked the update link) and all looked sort of genuine. I unchecked the box that bundles McAfee in with FlashPlayer and then hit next. On the next page I kinda realised things did not look right but at the same time my McAfee software went nuts with new connections (all of which I blocked I think) and loads of popups and installers appeared on the screen. I haven't got details here as was getting panicky at this point and just frantically closed things down and stopped any installs that I could.
My Sytem:
Windows 7 Pro (64 Bit)
Service Pack 1
I have McAfee All Access - Internet Security running with a full subscription
the Firewall is on and normally set to "Stealth Mode" and ask me before allowing connections
      Real time scanning is enabled
      Anti-spam is enabled
What I did afterwards:
Afterwards I closed Firefox. Locked down my firewall, turned off wireless and un-plugged the network cable to try and prevent further intrusion.
I then did a system restore back to 05 Aug 2015 where I had installed some dev software (NodeJs)
