I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello guys.

I saw several of threads saying that, updating your BIOS in the Asus P8Z68-V PRO, would stabilize your system and have better effectivity and such things.

If you direct to this page (Link), and scroll down a little, choose Windows 7 64-bit (as it's my system), and click + on the BIOS utility.

Would it be the best idea? Is there any danger in doing it?

Best Regards,

A:Updating BIOS. With utility?

Stability has a lot to do with how your settings are. No BIOS update can stabilize your system if
it's being pushed to it's limits.

A BIOS update addresses certain issues and you should only update your BIOS,
if it addresses those issues.

With all that being said, having used an ASUS board, I would recommend ASUS Easy Flash 2.
Get a USB thumb drive and follow the ASUS instructions for updating the BIOS using Easy Flash 2, if you "must update".

The downloaded version 2.9 installed, but didn't automatically remove the earlier 2.0 version. Trying to launch EOS Utility triggered the old version, so I removed both by deleting (couldn't locate a remove software function). Now the new 2.9 version will not install. What should I do?

I am running Vista x64 Home Premium on an HP Pavilion Laptop. Every time I use windows update, it throws some sort of error no matter how many times I fix the errors with the many tutorials on this site. But what is most frustrating is trying to update to SP2. I am guessing that something quite wrong was done in 2.20 (and it persists into 2.21). There was no such errant behavior with 2.19, as I've confirmed by reinstalling 2.19.  Works perfectly and boots promptly and the BIOS Setup utility works lickity-split with 2.19, just like it always has.  But with the install of 2.20 the behavior changed drastically.
Looking at the README for BIOS 2.20 this definitely seems like the culprit:
[Problem fixes]- Fixed an issue where fan might rotated with max speed due to not reading CPU   temperature correctly.- Fixed an issue where system might not boot to OS when attached an external monitor   and its USB3 devices.- Fixed an issue where network boot might happened at reboot after resume from suspend   by Wake On LAN.
At first I thought I had blown the BIOS update, since my screen was simply black for what seemed like 1-2 minutes after displaying the Lenovo logo and "press ENTER to interrupt" message.  I pressed ENTER repeatedly but nothing happened, for a long time.  Eventually, the hard drive activity LED on the P70 started flashing, and seemingly almost 2 minutes later, the machine came to life and boot process continued normally.
Then, once I entered the BIOS, I used the right-arrow key to navigate through the tabs.  No problem until I got to the Security tab and then pressed right-arrow one more time to navigate into the Boot tab... and it hung!  Didn't go ri... Read more

This is my first post here, so hi to everyone.
I just got an ASUS X401a Notebook and I want to use a flash drive to boot from Linux.
I need to change the sequence in the BIOS so that the flash drive is first choice to boot from.
I have no problem accessing the BIOS utility, but it allows me to alter only some settings. Those in blue colored font I can change those in black font I cannot. What drive to boot from first is in black and not adjustable.
I used command line to work as admin and I also set up a password for admin in the BIOS to access the BIOS utility, but still no go; some things are allowed to be changed some aren't.

Any help is appreciated.

It was working fine, but I thought that it would be ok to just update the driver tonight, Well boy was I WRONG!! Now, it won't connect. It keeps saying that it has a signal and everything is connected properly, but keeps saying "aquiring I.P." I tried resetting the cable modem, then the router (even unplugged them both), and this is just frustrating me!!!! I even tried uninstalling the USR from device mgr, and even network connections and re-installing it. But it has to be this new update that is making it like this. How can I completely get all USR stuff off then reboot and just re-read it. When I first got it, that is what it did. It was easy. Turn on WiFi on my laptop, brings up window, hit connect and works! And before once I updated it and it was able to connect, the speed kept fluntuating and was super slow. How the heck do I go about removing all US robotics drivers and start as new? When I first bought it, it was so easy, didnt have to install anything, the WiFi card automatically detected it and just saw the USR in the network menus as a avail network and connected, woula! Now it's all wierd. God damn US Robotics, I already hate them for lying to me and not giving my $45 rebate back! grrrrrrrr

hi there, i am fixing a friends old computer and the hdd was stuffed so i got a new maxtor diamondmax 9 for it. although once installing it i found out that it would only run in udma2 mode (checked it in another computer and it ran at full udma6)
so i suspect that the current bios cannot support udma5 or 6, so i am looking for a bios upgrade for it.
the bios string is 6A69RPRDC-00, the number on the actual motherboard is 35-C960-00-05
thanks for any help, i am really hoping i can make this board work at udma5 at least and not have to settle for udma2.
thanks again

ps. i just found this

if that is any help.

A:help with updating bios. cannot find bios upgrade - 6A69RPRDC-00

Old Machines.....(just like me... but can still perform to the max lol)

I your Bios has the option of udma up to 6 then generally the bios supports the Mode! and your problem is that the HDD does not support the mode (cant remember if you said it does).

You are probably using wrong criteria for bios upgrade search.
Try WWW.driverguide,com

You Need the MB's Manufacturers Name or at least the MB Chipset and bios Manufacturers Name as well. go to the Computers muanufacturers website (you probably done that already) and search model.

otherwise Download a System info utility from Tech Spot, I use SiSoft Sandra or AIDA32.. (sandra might cause bluescreen on older machines).. Aida problably will have link direct to bios update site. hope this was of some help

A:I need BIOS, not HP Setup Utility

Hi: Why do you need to change the setting to IDE? A BIOS update won't add that feature anyway. If you are trying to reinstall XP and get the blue screen stop error, simply add the SATA AHCI drivers. See this guide below.  Read the Intel section and then read the downloadable document for how to slipstream all of the sata drivers. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/SATA-drivers-for-XP-solution-on-... I have zipped up and attached the drivers you need to slipstream below...

I downloaded the latest BIOS (Version:F.64 Rev.A ) update and ran the utility on windows 10. The machine's power was interrupted during startup . Ever since I have a blank screen with the capslock light flashing and the fan running heavily. The HP recovery partitions have all been wiped since it is a new install of windows. None of this would be a huge ordeal except that the hp recovery utility as described at this website http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833 does not load so I cannot create a USB device. Furthermore after redownloading the BIOS update and attempting to run the .exe directly it says the ROM.CAB is missing or corrupt. 1) Where is there a good version of the BIOS I need? I would be fine with an old version as long as the computer boots. 2) If BIOS is shot does this motherboard allow me to replace the BIOS chip? Thank you for your help in advance.

I am trying to update the BIOS on my GA-MA78GM-S2H motherboard. Going to the Gigabyte site, i downloaded the recommended @BIOS update utility. Since the internet does not have the necessary BIOS for my MB, I downloaded the identified BIOS and then tried to use the utility. I then got this error "Can not load ROM image from BIN file. Maybe BIN file size not match."

Not sure what to do now. Can anyone assist?

Here is the page for the @BIOS system.

A:Can't get @BIOS utility to work

First of all, why do you want to update the bios?
Next, your board uses Q-Flash; this is much more reliable than the windows based bios flash. I always recommend using qflash to flash the bios of a gigabyte board [when a bios update is required]

I am working on a Toshiba Satellite with Insyde H2O bios. It says to use F2 for setup and F12 for boot manager.

I've tried all the function keys, as well as esc and del and they only get me to Windows Boot Manager. (This includes F2.)

The machine has Vista that stops loading when it gets to the network drivers. Could a corrupt BIOS be the cause? If I download a new BIOS can I install it from the command prompt?

If the BIOS is still OK are there other ways to get into setup?

(Meanwhile F2 works just fine on my Dell Lattitude)

A:Can't get into BIOS setup utility

Try using a USB keyboard...

"Could a corrupt BIOS be the cause?"

I don't think you would get that far in the boot process if the bios were corrupt

A:Bios troubles

you don't update the bios by putting into your system folder read your manual on how to recover the bios
if you don't know how to update the bios use the asus auto update it will do it all for you with a few mouse clicks
when you set the bios to default, you then have to optimise it,to know what it was set at before if you don't know the settings off by heart it pays to write them down or go through your manual and tick them,so you have something to refer back to
put a bios password in to keep your sister out,but use something you will not forget and lock yourself out
and you will not get much better than acacandy helping you

Question: I have installed a 1 TB Western Digital Green series Internal SATA HD -- Win 7 recognized it, allowed me to partition the drive and everything seemed fine. I shut down the system and did a cold reboot only to find that the computer would no longer Boot. I checked the BIOS setup and the system "saw" the drive, but would not boot. Disconnecting the drive altogether allows boot-up and all other aspects of the hardware and software are working properly...I am typing this on the very computer in question. The odd thing was that for ~2 boot-ups, the drive worked but now, it seems that the BIOS is either intermittently working or not working at all with this drive connected.

Any ideas or info is appreciated. Thanks!

A:BIOS Troubles

Does the drive have the SATA mode jumper intact? Have you tried removing it or changing its position?

Also, have you checked the connection to the drive and the mobo (the drive cable)?

You could try resetting CMOS to see if that helps at all...

I experienced a similar issue and eventually learned that the power supply was faulty, and not supplying power sufficiently
to all components, when the (2nd) drive was attached.

I have a problem with my computer. One day I plugged in a game controller and the add new hardware wizard came up. I went through the motions and I must have done something I'm not aware of. The video changed to 16 bit color and I looked in Device Manager in "My Computer" and there was an exclamation point on the BIOS. I looked at properties and it said that this component was not working properly. It said that it was detecting two (2) ACPI.SYS bus types. My guess is that when I was looking for the best drivers to load for the controller I either loaded an old driver or the wrong driver.

Is the BIOS fragged? Do I need to try and reload the correct drivers. Is my video card fragged? Or can I uninstall drivers for the video card and reinstall in order to reset my video back to whatever it was on ( maybe 256k color).

Oh, and it also wiped out my ability to connect to the internet. The error code I get is 666 (I know strange huh?)

If anyone knows what I'm talking about and can help I would greatly appreciate it!!

Somewhat clueless

A:BIOS troubles

Something happened big time.

Firstly the following link will explain your error code

Microsoft KB

Next, you have caused the system to no longer recognise some of your hardware.

Do you have the driver disks for your Video Card, sound card and modem. If yes the continue. If no, try and get them from the web or Computer store. Then continue.

Try this, In Control Panel, goto system/device manager.
Delete your game controller and unplug it from your system.

Restart your machine.

Does the affected items (not including Game Controller) work?

If not check your modem, Is it marked as a fail?
If so delete it .
change the driver to standard VGA Controller.

Reload drivers as requested by the system.

Is the game controller USB or Sound Card connected?

My BIOS is same as http://images.anandtech.com/doci/4499/ASUS%20BIOS%201%20-%20EZ%20Main.png

My motherboard is ASUS P8H61-M LX2 and it have latest ASUS BIOS (EFI BIOS Utility- EZ mode , I attached one link here to see).

My questions are :
1. Can I back normal BIOS like one old ?
2. How to use that ? Is there any tutorial for this ?

That is all for now.
Thanks in advance.

A:How to use ASUS EFI Bios Utility - EZ Mode ?

Did you read your MB manual. It has a section on the Bios that explains all the options. If you click on the Advanced Mode it will look a lot like the old bios with lots of options.

Hi, We have a script using the HP BiOS Utility to change the vtx setting but we are currently experiencing problems. This script has been developped by a 3rd party and its been succesfully tested on multiple HP Models. In our environment, we are using the following HP workstations:HP Compaq 8100 Elite SFFHP Compaq 8200 Elite SFFHP Compaq Elite 8300 SFF By default, our BIOS doesn't have any password, the script will run the HP BIOS Utility with admin privilege, add a temporary password, enable the Vtx setting and remove the password. On the next reboot, we will run our software that needs vtx enable but the program will not see  that vtx is enable. If we enter the BIOS manually,  the Vtx setting will be enable, the only way that the software will recognize that vtx is enable is if we do another change to the BIOS and save that change.  It seems like Windows is not seeing the change that the BIOS utility did.  The intriging part is that on some machines, the script will work and the software will see the change. We have run the script numerous times, on multiple machines and on our different models but we can determine any patern and identify why it sometimes work. I was wondering if this is a known issue and if anyone already encoutered this. Thank you,

Have not found any resolutions on the internet to help. Please help I really do need to get to the BIOS UTILITY SETUP.thanksart1944

Unless you passworded the setup menu or BIOS the following should work. Press the power button and then immediately begin tapping the F10 key. That invokes the BIOS on all HP notebooks and desktop PCs.
