YOGA C930 Brightness/Contrast Changing Issue (Tried changing intel graphic settings, didnt work)

Q: YOGA C930 Brightness/Contrast Changing Issue (Tried changing intel graphic settings, didnt work)

I noticed when i watch netflix or other platforms, the display changes (brightness/contrast changes so the scenes appear redder) and almost as if the someone is switching the lights on and off in the actual show. But on other displays such as my phone, the colors are fine. I tried changing my battery plan, turning off the adjusting brightness, and disabling settings in the intel graphics settings. Nothing seems to do the trick! super distracting to watch a show and see the whole screen flicker every few seconds.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi! I have seen a few other posts on here about havig issues with the brightness changing and have looked to them first before writing my own post. I have made sure that Enable Dynamic Brightness is turned off under the Lenovo Vantage settings and I have Change brightness automatically turned off under my system settings, but I can still still see my brightness changing when I change from light to dark backgrounds and it is getting VERY annoying. It makes reading, or doing anything on the computer for that matter, very difficult and I can't figure out why it keeps changing when I have everything turned off. I have also checked to make sure none of the drivers need updating but they are all updated and have rebooted my computer multiple times. Is anyone else having this issue or does anyone know why this is still happening?? Thanks!

Whoa dude. What with all the yellin'. Please don't use all caps.
Did you install the video card or did it come with the computer? Most video cards come with a utility that sits in you task bar. It will allow you to do just what you describe.
List the video adapter you are using and I'll see if I can find the utility for you.

Hi,As the title says. When I try to change the screen brightness there tends to be a lag of ~ 1 minute and then it changes very slowly in short intervals, not smoothly as it used to.This is a somewhat new problem. Secondly the fingerprint sensor stops working after a while. It will work again after manual deactivation and reactivation or reboot but this is extremely annoying. Lenovo Vantage tells me my drivers are up to date and there are no pending system updates.

Hello sevenforums! I have a problem with my computer i recently purchased. Here is my story.

This all started whenever I wanted to change my text size different by changing my DPI settings. What I did was right click, go to screen resolution, and clicked on "Make text and other items larger or smaller". From this I changed it to 100% from 125%. I noticed it had changed my font size to the 100%. It then made everything SUPER small when I changed my theme settings.

Whenever I right click and go into personalization settings, I do the usual customizing to my likings. Since I want to save the theme, I do so by naming it, blah. Now I want to use the blah theme by click on it, and I do so. Everything is fine and dandy until I right click my desktop to refresh(out of habit). This is the before and after of the font sizes.

My workaround was to set a custom DPI setting, log off like it prompts me to, then changing it back to 100%, again prompting to do so. It is so annoying to do so.

Help me! It is driving me crazy and I have no idea how to fix it. I cannot save a theme and change to it, otherwise it results in the small font. It affects all the fonts soon afterwards. Like google chrome will be fine until i exit and restart the program. Then a super small font follows.

My C930 screen randomlyl tints red and the brightness level goes way down. To fix it I go to display settings and change the scaling. That fixes it, so I then change the scaling back to what I had. I've had a lot of problems with this computer's graphics and stuff being way too dark despite my monitor settings(that I set with the little wheel thingy on the monitor) of brightness and contrast being all the way. I could not figure out how to make the picture better after a lot of searching, but I tried again recently and found where to go (see first pic).

So I adjusted that stuff until I got it good. Then I saved it and checked the apply at startup box. But the problem is, it wouldn't apply the settings at startup. They were saved and everything and the box would still be checked, but the picture wasn't what I saved it as. All I'd have to do though is just select what I saved from the drop-down box but shouldn't it already be applied all the time? I'm guessing I'll have to adjust something in my System Config Utility in System Information but I dunno so I'm asking you.

I recently changed my hard drive. When I rebooted a window popped up asking "Would you like windows to optimize your(monitor) settings?" I clicked yes.

After that my monitor wallpaper was washed out and faded. At first I tried adjusting the physical monitor controls using the monitor buttons with no result. I tried reverting to factory defaults with no results.
I removed the last monitor driver and the color readjusted but everything was twice as big and I couldn't change it. I restored the driver with my old HDD.
Now I change the settings in monitor settings in the control panel. I get the monitor to appear the way I want it to but when I restart, the monitor settings revert to the washed out and faded appearance. Yes, I click apply and ok.

What should I do so the settings remain??

A:monitor contrast keeps changing

Is the monitor the original that came with the system? If so, I would start with undoing the auto-optimization. I think that rolling back the monitor driver will accomplish that.

If a different monitor, there could be a conflict between drivers for two different monitors. Possibly uninstalling the old monitor driver would solve the reboot-to-was
Cancel # 2 scenario. Since it's re-booting to settings AFTER auto-optimization, the auto/opt. is the problem. I'm not sure how to reverse that...

My monitor is having a problem with becoming very dark, even to the point of not being visible at all, when certain windows or programs are opened. It looks almost as if someone had just held down the contrast button until it became black. The manual controls do not help the situation and the only thing I can do when this happens is to open a window with a white background, if I can still see enough to do so, which for some reason corrects the problem most of the time until that window is closed. If I am not able to do this, I have to reboot several times before anything becomes visible (the first boot-nothing, second boot-very dark screen, and usually third it is back to normal). Upon bootup, the compaq insignia and the blue Scandisk screens no longer show up. I had a friend over a couple of weeks ago who was on my computer for a while; is it possible that he changed or deleted something? I have also noticed that once I removed my wallpaper, and put a basic background on, the problem has gotten much better. I only have a 2MB Video Card (proprietary) and my resolution is set at 1024x768. Is it possible that it is being stressed to the point of causing this? Or is it the monitor itself? Or could it just be a software problem?

I currently have a Qualcom Wireless AC Card in my Yoga 920. When I change wifi networks, I don't always get the internet going right away (we have 2 networks at home and several different networks in the office). I would need to right click on the wifi icon in the task bar and click on troubleshoot, then wait for it to fix itself. This happens probably 90% of the time when I change networks (ie Home network, then when at the office, I connect to the Work network and have to perform the troubleshoot to get the internet going then vice versa when back home. Or even changing between our 2 different Home networks - as in from different ISPs and not just changing between 2.4 and 5ghz connection). Also, is there something wrong with Chrome for the 920? When I change networks, and get the internet going (as in the wifi icon property says that there is internet and the yellow triangle exclamation is not present anymore), google chrome does not automatically connect to the internet and load pages. Edge, on the other hand, does not have issues upon gaining internet connection after the troubleshoot. For reference, I have a custom built desktop. I have an Intel AC 8265 in it, and it does not have this issue when switching between our home networks and chrome does not any issue as well. So yeah, I have two issues. Any ideas?

HP Notebook - TOUCH, ENERGY STARModel #: 15-ac113clWindows 10, 64-bit As of the last couple of days, my laptop's brightness has seemingly been changing by itself. It's been increasing so much that it almost looks like it's in grayscale. The brightness fluctuates every 3-4 seconds or so, becoming extremely bright, and then slowly returning to normal. This happens both while the laptop is plugged in, and when it is not.  I have Googled this using every phrasing I could possibly think of, and have yet to find anyone else with my same problem. I have seen some forum posts about fluctuating brightness, but the responses all said to either disable Adaptive Brightness, or to disable Power Saving Technology in the Intel HD Graphics control panel. In my case, both of these settings were already disabled. I have downloaded both a new screen saver and a new Chrome extension in the last few days, and I removed them both, thinking that one of them HAD to be the cause of this problem - no such luck.  Some comments I've seen have suggested that it might be the battery. For context, I sent my laptop in for repair about 2 months ago and they replaced the battery, repaired the charging port, and sent a new charger cord. I've had no issues with any of the replacement parts. Also, I've done 2 battery tests in the last ~48 hours; the first said everything was fine, and the second said that the battery was functioning properly but needs to be calibrated, whi... Read more

Looks like you have done couple of troubleshooting so from my point of view:1. You might have a screen protector, plastic covering or comething in front of Proximity Sensor (Located normally beside webcam) which is causing issue.2. What's up with the Brightness on my Laptop constantly changing? It seems to get brighter then dimmer whenever it feels like it, and it's getting very annoying! I've tried changing the Brightness plans in the Display menu, but it still does it. What's the best way to set the brightness just the way I want it, and stop it from ever changing? I don't want it to dim or brighten when I unplug it, or plug it back in, or reboot, or anything. I just want it to always stay the same.

its not a new laptop with one of those light sensors in it is it? they automatically dim or get brighter according to the ambient brightness.

try disabling the associated service (adaptive brightness)

start/programs/accesories/run , in the box type services.msc and hit return

look for adaptive brightness double click it and under startup type select disabled , then apply etc and reboot

Have a new PC with a LG 21" Monitor. 64 Bit OS. Using the digital input to the monitor from the PC.

Hi! I have a desktop with Windows 8 pro installed. I am using an external monitor with a brand name I am not familiar with (it has a "w" with 3 dots at the top). Also, I can change the brightness through the settings but it has some bands going slowly up the screen and it kind of distracts me. Unfortunately, I am unable to change the brightness through the Windows settings. Is there an alternative way to change the brightness?

A:Alternatives to changing brightness?

First would be good idea to list the brand and model of monitor you are not familiar with. Bands going slowly up screen sound like a connection problem,a disturbance from another source also, try checking that the connection from the monitor to the computer is tight and not loose. Something next to it could be disturbing it. Also if possible change this connector to another of same type or different connection type, HDMI,VGA, DISPLAY PORT. Have a good surge protector ?

Not sure i understand the part about the " w" with three dots, explain more. Video card has color adjustments in it's properties.
Can use the calibration in display properties in control panel as you adjust brightness.

Hi guys, mine is a very unusual predicament, I just bought a new Dell N311z

I've noticed that when the brightness of my screen is anywhere between maximum and minimum it automatically decreases or increases on will, without me doing anything.

I've also noticed that when the background on the LCD is of a darker colour the brightness decreases and when it's a lighter background the brightness increases itself.

I've tried everything from disabling the ambient light sensor to calling up Dell customer care and after having spent 3 hours on doing what they made me do it still hasn't fixed my problem. I reset the laptop to the factory settings, i reinstalled all the drivers as well.

I'd really appreciate your reply.

Thanks in advance.

A:Automatically changing screen brightness

I've heard of screens that adjust the backlight brightness depending on the content of the screen - the idea is to "fake" a greater contrast range with whiter whites and (particularly) blacker blacks.
I suspect that your screen is doing exactly this and it isn't a software issue at all...I don't know your machine but wonder if there might be a BIOS setting to disable this feature, maybe...

I have tried every "solution" I found online - From enabling/disabling adaptive brightness, to updating my drivers, to actually changing in-game gamma options- nothing worked. As soon as I close the game, the issue disappears. However, when I have the game running, even if I minimize it and for eg browse the internet, it keeps happening.

Extremely frustrating, anyone had this problem before and has new ideas on how to fix it?

Hello everyone! So after going back and forth which laptop i wanted i finally ended up getting a Yoga C930 which feels MUCH better compared to the 730 i had for about a day. The only concern i have for it right now is the fan noise is noticeable. I updated all of the drivers and did all of the windows updates, but it seems the fan is much more audible compared to the 730 i had. (I used the windows app and Driver Easy to do this) It's not entirely annoying but i do notice it. I also notice the laptop tends to get a bit warm. I know its only been a few hours but still its something i've noticed.  This is the exact one i purchased from Best Buy I've also noticed the Dolby Atmos Speaker System app apparently isn't compatible with my device? Also looking if anyone has recommendations on which usb c dongle to use so I can connect extra USB, display, and memory card reader? I got a Sony Computer about a year ago and it's been randomly changing my brightness out of no where. Generally it moves it two below whatever I set it as and then changes it back to whatever I have set it on.

I have tried doing everything I can think of to fix it. I changed my brightness to whatever it was changing it to, figuring that would work. It would do the same thing with the new brightness (unless it was a low brightness, then it would bring it up). I thought it might be the Adaptive Brightness thing new computers come with, but mine was off! I turned it on and it stopped doing it for about ten minutes, but then continued doing it.

My computer is a Sony VAIO computer, running Windows 7 Home Premium.

A:Sony Computer randomly changing brightness.

I guess I should add on that when it changes to the lower/higher setting it slowly goes back to what I have it set as. Like it'll fade back to the lower light, or slowly brighten to the higher lighting.

This is annoying my greatly, even though it shouldn't be incredibly noticeable. I tried changing to different power plans to change it, but nothing is working. :/

I've gotten a new T480 as my primary work laptop. After getting past the initial setup of the machine, including updating drivers, firmware and BIOS, almost everything is running quite well. The one thing that I noticed which is odd is that while I am in a meeting with the system not plugged in and running off of the batteries, the screen brightness is adjusting itself. I don't understand why this is happening, as I am active on the system  for most of the time, so it would not appear to be a power setting. Has anyone else seen this? It's happening just about anytime I am unplugged and running off of the batteries. As I was typing this subject in, the suggestions seemed to indicate that this is also happening with other systems. I don't have the time to go look at those threads to see if it has been addressed there unfortunately, so I am asking the question here. Hopefully this is just a driver or a BIOS fix that can be implemented with minimal disruption. Thanks in advance for any additional information that is provided!Matt

This purchase was supposed to be a good experience and so far it is just pathetic.

I have a problem! I know there is a way, just not sure anymore how to do this. We have a graphic that has been saved with a white background and we want to take the background off. I thought you could "ungroup" the bitmap in word and eliminate it that way. We have XP and it doesn't work. Any suggestions? I need this ASAP. It's for a presentation this PM. I would have worried sooner, but thought I had it undercontrol! Thanks for any help1

A:changing a graphic

We ended up running the graphic on the presentation with the white background anyway. If anyone knows what software program to use to seperate images. We have our logo saved as a jpg and it has a white box behind it. The graphic is detailed so we can't just crop it. If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it.

Hi everyone,

I have this strange problem with Samsung Slate series 7 since I've upgraded to Windows 8 pro 64. The screen brightness keeps changing randomly when it is at a low level. I have tried to disable auto brightness, put adaptive brightness off and disable the sensor monitoring service but nothing seems to work.

I hope someone can help.

Solved. Just downloaded software update Samsung released for Ativ and it will install all missing drivers automatically.

When switching between profiles (e.g., sRGB, Adobe RGB) within Premier Color, the brightness just keeps going lower and lower, without modifying it.

I start out at 70 on Adobe RGB
Switch to sRGB and it becomes 43
Switch to Adobe RGB and it becomes 57
Switch to sRGB and it becomes 33
Adobe RGB: 45
sRGB: 27

How are these brightness values stored? After coming from sleep the brightness also seems to change, and I can't make head or tail on how this is 'managed' by which settings where.

Hello everyone,
I'd like to know how (if possible) to make it so that my laptop does not automatically change screen brightness when plugging in or unplugging.

You see, there is a brightness setting that is saved for plugged in and unplugged, and when you change between plugged in and unplugged it reverts the screen brightness to that saved level.

For example if you have it unplugged and you set the screen brightness to 100% then plug it in, it saves the unplugged screen brightness to 100%. Now when you're plugged in you change it to minimal brightness. Later when you unplug and leave the screen brightness will revert back to 100%.

I'd like to disable this automatic screen brightness change.
Thanks for reading.

Which OS are you on? Say you were on Windows 7 there is a setting to change the brightness, but some laptops don't work with these settings.
