Preferred Solution: Need help / recommendations to fix this message: Windows Activation, error occurred OxC0000022. What should I do???

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My apologies if this has been gone over before, but i'm asking this in desperation (almost) !.  I used Outlook Express for years when i had Win.XP on my old PC without a single problem. In the last 18 months, since i've had my new PC Win.7 Home Premium 64 bit. i've had to use Windows Live Mail & it's utter c**p !. Almost every day without fail, when trying to send or open an e-mail,i get the rerror message attached. The only way i can get Live Mail to send or open any e-mail, is to log off & re-boot my PC ,which is a PITA,especially as when a few months ago,i was taking part in some pretty lively correspondence on line.   Is there a definitive cure for this problem other than switching to another e-mail system  ?. I've searched the I/net for a solution, but all i find areboat loads of others with exactly the same problem & no answer & definitely no respose from Microsoft.   I would get rid of Live Mail & install another mail system if only i was sure that i wouldn't make a total mess of it as i'm not 100% PC literate. So,any serious advice will be deeply appreciated,

A:Windows Live Mail error message - "A problem occurred.......

Unfortunately, that error message is pretty generic -- without some sort of error code, it's hard to troubelshoot.

You can try going to the Start menu, select Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features. Select Windows Live Essentials from the list of programs, select Uninstall/Change at the top menu bar, and then select Repair all Windows Live Programs.

Greetings,

I am in desperate need for some assistance. My laptop recently has been giving this message before reaching the desktop: "A disk read error occurred. Press ctrl+alt+del to restart. I have tried restarting multiple times (including manually restarting), but I ended up receiving the same error. My operating system is Windows XP.

What can I do to approach this problem? I would be very grateful for any assistance.

Windows Mail suddenly does not send or receive messages. When I attempt to send a message, I receive the following error, "The message could not be sent. An error has occurred." When I click the Send and Receive button, the pop-up box comes up, but not long enough for me to read anything. However, it appears to complete the send/receive process with no errors. I have had issues in the past and often received an error number, but not this time. When I go into my accounts, I have changed the password to my incoming server to the wrong one to see if it recognizes the error and have also changed port numbers and still receive no error. I have attempted working offline and double-checked to ensure it recognizes the wireless internet connection - which it does.

I do not currently have and have never had any anti-virus programs installed on my computer. I have logged into my email through my browser and deleted all emails from all of my folders, closed Windows Mail and then re-started it to no avail.

I would just upgrade to Windows Live Mail, but I already did that once before when I was experiencing other problems with Windows Mail, and that program has also stopped working correctly so I had to go back to Windows Mail. Therefore, it appears that if I cannot get this issue resolved, I will be stuck using my browser (which is not very user-friendly) and my iPhone. Needless to say, I am quite frustrated with Windows Mail and Vista!

PLEASE HELP!

A:Windows Mail - "The message could not be sent. An error has occurred."

First let's fix the major problem of not having an antivirus! For now please download Malwarebytes and run a full, updated scan. Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download That should clean up any bad software on your computer. And I would imagine you have a lot... There are plenty of good free antivirus programs out there, most of the people on this site highly recommend Microsoft Security Essentials. Virus, Spyware & Malware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials

After running malwarebytes, see if your mail problem is still occurring.

Personally, I just have to recommend you switch to using Mozilla Thunderbird, instead of Windows Mail. It's very clean and easy to use. And free. Check it out. Mozilla Thunderbird That's just a personal suggestion, you don't have to if you really like Windows Mail

Hello, I can not activate windows 8 on my sister's computer. It is a genuine license, she bought the laptop in US at walmart.
When I want to activate it gives me error code oxC0000022 and error description: {Access Denied} A process has requested access to an object, but has not been granted those access rights.

I can't activate by phone since it won't give me that option.

Here's the .txt from the diagnostic tool.

Also, I tried to run windows update because apparently she hasn't even updated to windows 8.1, it passed more than an hour updating and rebooting the machine, at the end it said it couldn't update and it restored the computer back.

Sorry for my bad English, I'm in Mexico.

A:Need help activating W8, error code oxC0000022

It sounds like there are permission issues due to some corruption in your installation. I've seen this happen a couple of times, and even though there is a chance you could just fix it, I recommend creating fresh installation media using the tool from Microsoft's website and re-doing the installation.

I'm very computer illiterate so please bear with me. I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows XP. When I started my computer today, I got the following error message:
Explorer.EXE - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (OxcOOOOO22). Click on OK to terminate the application.

My screen saver comes up, but nothing else. I tried Ctrl-Alt-Del and was able to run my AVG free virus scan. The result was a Win32/Nsag virus found. I moved the file to the virus vault. I tried to restart the computer, but this time received an error that the wininet.dll file could not be found. I used Ctrl-Alt-Del again and looked in the virus vault and sure enough the file name that has the virus is wininet.dll I tried to restore the file, but the AVG warning comes on saying Virus Detected, hitting the Ignore button, did not seem to do anything. The virus vault still contains one file. However, when I restarted the computer I got the same inital IExplorer.EXE - Application Error and my screensaver. I did another AVG scan and the virus was back. The virus cannot be healed and so I moved it again to the virus vault.
The only thing I get when I turn on the computer is the IExplorer.EXE Application error OXC0000022 and my screensaver.

Hello!

I have struggled with this issue for 2 days now and I humbly bow down to whoever may be able to help me. I bought this asus gaming laptop off of my brother in law. All was good until my fiance got ahold of it and loaded WoW onto it and played for about a week.

Now my main user profile won't load. I get an error stating  EXPLORER.EXE - Application Error "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application."

I am able to load explorer by going into task manager and running it, after which it sometimes states that my account is temporary and nothing will be saved

I made a new user account, it also won't load explorer except by manually doing so as stated above.

Malware Bytes finds nothing. Super Anti Spyware finds nothing. Avast and AVG find nothing.

I restored to a restore point 4 days ago, same issue.

I have tried a lot of what has been posted before to others with no success, but I am 100% open to trying it all again.

Thank you all so much, computer geniuses!!!

ETA: Wow, can't believe I forgot this. I'm running windows 7 64 bit.

A:Explorer.exe Application Error (oxc0000022)

Try running SFC.  Click Start and type CMD in the search box, then right-click CMD.EXE and click Run as Administrator.  From the Command Prompt type sfc /scannow.  That will check for corrupt system files and attempt to repair them.  If it reports it's unable to repair something, please copy the log and paste it here.  You'll have to first copy it to a temporary file from C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log then double-click it to open it.  Copy and paste it into a reply here.

Good luck.

Any ideas of how I can fix this issue?

Run the extended - not just quick - diagnostic on the hard drive (F12 at powerup).
No, you cannot change to UEFI/Secure Boot without a complete reload of the operating system.

eGreetings,

I am getting a persistent error in HP notebook running Windows 7 64 bit.

My problem is with Live Mail. I can view the message in the preview pane, but if I click to open (or right click and choose OPEN) I get an error message:
A problem has occurred while trying to open this message. A problem has occurred. Please try again.

Things I have tried:
1. Changing Antivirus from AVG Free to Avast Free.
2. Cleaning up with Spybot, SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes.
3. Further Cleaning with CCleaner and IObit Unstaller.
4. MS Mr. Fixit.
5. System Restore.
6. Programs and Features - Uninstall - Choose REPAIR of Live Mail.
7. Chkdsk and Defrag.
8. Uninstalling and Reinstalling 3 times. With the 3rd time creating new settings and not installing backed up email messages.

I am stumped. Does anyone know of a fix for this? Could it be a problem with a Windows Update Patch?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your time, help and expertise.

Jeri

Hello, recently I had ended the process of Windows Live Mail due to the program freezing up on my computer. Upon restarting the program, I could not reply to e-mails, and I also cannot write new e-mails. There may have been some e-mails that I cannot open at all, but I am not sure.

I am reluctant to delete all of my messages and to a complete 100% clean installation because I have thousands of e-mails from two accounts that need to be backed up.

I prefer an alternate solution if possible.

I have already did the uninstall from "Programs" and re-installed the software. I had deleted various registry keys that some sites had recommended to people with a similar issue.

I had posted on the microsoft forums, but have yet to receive a reply. I am hoping that somebody here can help advise me on this issue.

Hi, I am currently based in Germany and cannot work out why I cannot access 2 associated websites:

For reasons that I cannot understand, I have never been able to log on to them from my laptop at home in Germany.

However, when using the same laptop in Australia with a different internet service provider, there is no problem with accessing the above sites so I know that I can reach the websites with this laptop.

I have tried many things including calling the airline directly to see if they have an IT help desk or if they are experiencing website problems. No to both. I have tried typing in the addresses directly into the URL field, clicking on through a link etc and nothing works. As far as I can see, the websites aren?t blocked by my antivirus software. Hi there,

Sometimes ISPs block certain sites. It may be worth checking with them to see if there is a block on it for some reason.

You could also try going onto a proxy surf site and accessing it from there incase the site has blocked your IP for some reason.

I think it's somewhat comical that just as I assert my slight computer knowledge in building myself a nice gaming computer (ordered the parts and put together myself) with vista for myself and set up my old XP for my dad it breaks. It was taking too long so I turned it off by holding the power button.... I don't think this is a direct cause because i've done it before but maybe this was pushing it.
The error message is:
A disk error occurred.
Press ctrl+alt+del to restart

When I start using the Windows XP CD after asking me to hit any button to boot from disk and I do it says checking system hardware, the screen goes black, and nothing happens. I've left if for hours and it just doesn't do anything. Could my hard drive be dead? In the bios it is still detecting it's there but I can't boot whatsoever or even access any of the features of the XP CD that may be able to help.

I've been up and down the wall with this error.
I just finished - quite literally - building my first true gaming rig. This thing will make my eyeballs bleed tears of pure awesome - or, at least, something along the lines of "Oh my god this is amazing".

Besides all that, I just finished a fresh, clean install of Vista Ultimate, disabled Windows Firewall, and used every available time-server I could find. "tock.usno.navy.mil" and such too.
The result? Same error, An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with <server>, every time, sometimes in an instant. I've restarted several times after changing various settings, my firewall is COMPLETELY off, I have no others, the only other antiviral/whatever software on here is
"Steam, Second Life (Which also wont log in because of this), Call of Duty: World at War, Mozilla Firefox, and avast! Home edition."

Suffice to say, I'm about to pull my hair out here. This is, again, a clean, fresh install, with 0 problems otherwise.

Take a look at the computer's case.  Is there a "genuine Microsoft" sticky-label on the back/sides/bottom of the case?Does it contain a 25-character product-key?  If so, use the product-key.  From: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-p6000-desktop-pc-series/3884665I looked at this computer's specifications, on the HP Support web-site.Sometimes, one can still order a copy of the originally-installed software, for a small fee, from HP.Unfortunately, not so, for this model. Some Other People on have recommended:  www.ComputerSurgeons.comas a source for buying a copy of the original software, again for a small fee. If your charity is registered in Canada, see: www.techsoupcanada.caMicrosoft donates copies of Windows 10 and Office 2016 to Registered Charities, for a small "administrative fee".

I lost cookies in the computer crash. I have successfully reinstalled Windows XP but my Windows Office XP installation fails to accept my activation codes. They keep saying that the version installed at another computer. How can I fix the problem?

A:Windows Office XP: I keep getting wrong activation codes message

Where did you get your copy of Office XP?

Have you ever lent it to anyone for them to install, or installed it yourself on another PC?

Thats what its saying, that the code has been recently used by someone else.

By ignoring the above errors, on completion of installaton, when I click at the requisite MTTS.exe file, I get the message: "MTTS CD NOT FOUND" when the same is there in the Samsung 52x24x52 drive!

The CD suppliers claim that to prevent duplication of the CD, they have placed a laser locking software from Greece on the same. In this case, is the software thinking that I may be attempting to duplicate the CD?

This MTTS worked fine until one day on account of frequent shut down problems with my Pentium III 450MHz Win98SE, I had a computer expert repair the same. He simply ran system file checker and replaced a couple of corrupt files (I do not know which ones) by using his own CD instead of mine. And that was that. Does your pc meet the minimum requirements of the software? I only ask because win98 is getting on a bit TBH.

Also you could try to uninstall the software and reinstall it.

might work....good luck.

This post probably belongs in the Business Applications section and I will move it here.

However I have a couple of suggestions: find the riched32.dll, right click on it and select Properties > Version. Verify that the version number is at least equal to the Operating System or Software application with which it is associated. Use this link to compare:

http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...com/servicedesks/fileversion/dllinfo.asp&fp=1

Since the riched32.dll is used by many MS office applications, you might want to "repair" or reinstall those.

Second, is this MS article:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=236281

The "resolution" seems to be to install the latest Visual Studio Service pack. However I'm not sure whether that applies to just the developer or the software user as well. You might want to contact the vendor and see what they have to say.

Hi,
I'm encountering an issue with a relatively new Windows 8 Pro x64 install (Been running about a week).
When attempting to right click on the Network Connection and select "Properties", I receive the following error:
"An unexpected error occurred"
The error also occurs when trying to disable the adapter. The network connection DOES work though. I have received an IP from my DHCP router and have network/internet access.
I have tried the Windows XP/7 "fix":
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\netshell.dll, and then click OK.
3. In the RegSvr32 dialog box, click OK.
Test to see if you can open the properties of the network connection in the Network Connections folder.

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\ole32.dll, and then click OK.
3. In the RegSvr32 dialog box, click OK.
4. Restart the computer.
Both did NOT work. I have also attempted uninstalling and reinstalling the Network Driver. I have also tried "SFC /scannow".
Neither of these worked either.

This is the error message but control alt delete doesn't restart it.
I hit F11 and it starts in Windows Vista(recovered). It will open up and I can do anything from there, but very very slow. I do not know how to get it to boot up properly.

I have run all hardware checks, everything passes,
Virus program is secure.
I can get into the Performance information and Tools and it shows critical status for Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-Diagnostics-Performance - Boot performance Monitoring. It also shows Error for Shutdown Performance.
If you could walk me thru the fix it would be greatly appreciated.

A:windows vista "a disk read error has occurred...press control alt delete to restart..

1)Disk read error could mean HDD beginning to fail (need to check the SMART data).

2) You're info on the errors isn't enough to go on - need more details on critical status & errors.

3) Can you do a system restore or have a BU image of the HDD that you can restore, from before the prob began?

I've seen that "type" error - maybe not verbatim, but for either when HDD is failing, or even a loose / bad HDD cable. Could check those are snug. Can unseat the cables & reseat them. If don't know what you're doing w/ the cables, either leave alone, or read up on how to BE CAREFUL working w/ the cables.

I've seen cables go bad for NO reason - no one touched them; just one day were "flaky."

You could break sockets on the mobo if get rough. Cables themselves are cheap.

Hi,

You can try the Windows 7 codec pack as below:

http://www.codecguide.com/

In addition, you may want to try Windows Media Encoder, here is the step:

1.  Download it from the following link:
Windows Media Encoder
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5691ba02-e496-465a-bba9-b2f1182cdf24&displaylang=en

Install program under compatibility mode & Administrator level
=================
1. Right click on the installation file and click Properties.
2. Click on the Compatibility tab.
3. Select ?Run this program in compatibility mode for.?
4. Choose Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the drop down list.
5. Select ?Run this program as an administrator? option under the Privilege Level topic.
6. Click Apply, click OK.

2. Open Windows Media Encoder. On the New Session screen, choose Convert a file.
3. On the File Selection screen.browse to the .wmv Source File you wish to burn.
4. Follow the on-screen wizard to burn this file to the CD/DVD.

Does it work?

Do a clean install. Do not install anything extra like Messenger. If everything works, install programs one at a time and make sure that it works, first, before installing the next.

When you install do not give your key number. When everything is installed; programs etc and it works, Give your number then.

Hello,

I own a Lenovo Thinkpad X220 running Windows 7 Professional, which I bought through my school around two years ago, and Windows 7 Pro was pre installed. Yesterday I opened my laptop and it told me that my Windows was counterfeit and I had to reactivate it again. I tried to reactivate it, but it gave me to Error (0xC004F074), which had the following description:
'The Software Licensing Service reported that the computer could not be activated. No Key Management Service (KMS) could be contacted. Please see the Application Event Log for additional information.'

I am pretty sure that my version is totally genuine because over 100 people in my school bought the same laptop from my school at around the same time, the package was officially tendered from a company, which I had to pay for licensing for both Windows and Microsoft Office, and my school has an IT department that manages these things.

Here was the information from the Diag tool:

A:Error: Windows 7 Professional Activation error (0xC004F074)

Hi, and welcome to Seven Forums.

This Microsoft KB article may be able to help.

When trying to activate you get 0xC004F074 with description "The Key Management Server (KMS) is unavailable"

Here's the download link for the hotfix mentioned in the KB article. You would use the Windows Server 2008 downloads (not the Itanium one) for Windows 7.

An update is available for Windows Vista and for Windows Server 2008 to extend KMS activation support for Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2
