I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi All

We purchased a Aspire T671 which come out with Windows Vista. However Vista does not work with some of our accounting software etc and we were advised to format and install XP Pro as on the other machines in the office.

Xp is working fine on the pc however I cannot get the following drivers:

1. Ethernet Controller
2. PCI Device
3. PCI Modem
4. SM Bus Controller
5. Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

If someone could help regarding this it would be GREAT!

hello really need help, i need to know how to get wireless on my computer or if i need to buy a wireless device. please help me

A:acer aspire t671

Welcome to TSG:
To answer your question, more info is needed.
Operating system and level?
Go into device manager, look at the network adapter(s).Tell me what you have listed there.
I'll hack a bit on your model and see what I can see on the net.

Ok:It seems to indicate that you have an integrated network adapter and ethernet connection capability.
If that is really true, and your user's manaual should detail that, then to go wireless,it would seem that all you might need is,of course an existing network connection(ISP) a wireless card, again user's manual is your guide here, a wireless router and a wireless network manager(something like the default, windows zero config,or the wireless manager that would probably come with your wireless adapter card) up and running to manage your wireless connection.

I have come to upgrade my pc by adding a new Graphics card and Memory as i have done in the past on countless occassions with other pc's however this time i cant even open the case i remove the 2 screws and it looks as if it should just slide back but dosent matter what i do it wont move can anybody tell me if i am missing something so simple here

A:Solved: Acer Aspire T671

Sometimes they are difficult to remove the first few times, you may need to use the open palm of you hand, hit the side cover in a glancing blow in the direction toward the rear of the case a few times.

Acer provides no documents other than to say to remove the chassis screws, then remove the panel, no pics.

Hello. friend has the above PC. For some time now, at random intervals, it will emit a 4 second whistle (haven't heard it myself, but assume its from the mobo speaker) followed by 2 secs of silence. Desktop is frozen. Noise continues the same cycle until PC powered off. The inside is dust free and all connections seem secure. Any thoughts, please?

In Jan 2008, I bought a new Acer desktop PC Aspire T671 with 1GB RAM installed. It has been failing quite regularly around once a week. I sent the PC back to Acer. They reformatted my hard-disk and sent it back to me. Whereas before, the PC would freeze in the middle of some work, now it only fails at start-up - it simply does not boot up; I can hear the fan running but nothing on the display. Usually (but not always!) switching off at the mains then holding down start-button for 5seconds etc does alleviate the problem.
I had great trouble re-installing my software after first repair and, therefore, asked Acer to issue me a cedit note after the problems persisted. Acer has refused but they want me to send in the PC again for 2nd repair.

1) Could anyone who has had experience with Acer please advise me if a stand any chance of a credit note (if problems persist after 2nd repair) - my warranty will expire soon!

2) Does T671 model have a known inadequate-PSU problem? What other problem could there possibly be (I do not use share-wares and freewares and a virus problem is unlikely - no virus was reported by Acer after 1st repair either)

Thanks in advance for those posting a reply.

Does anyone know if I can properly downgrade to Windows 7 or even Windows 8.1 on my Aspire V15. I personally dislike Windows 10 and want to downgrade.I've tried downgrading to Windows 7 but it just freezes on the Starting Windows sequence and doesn't continue. I've tried downgrading to Windows 8.1 but I have issues downloading the touch pad drivers and other drivers. Can anyone know how to pass the Starting Windows part or find the correct drivers for Win8.1? Edit: I've tried installing Linux Mint and Ubuntu with no luck either. When the installer is done, it reboots and says No Bootable Device detected.

I have an old acer aspire one ZG5 which I use as a travel backup. When XP expired I installed win 7 ultimate The problem is win 7 runs very very slow. There is only 1 gb on board memory and apparently cannot be increased.
According to the memory gadget just booting up uses 98% memory and after a long time drops to 68% memory.
Any help how to downgrade win 7 to run a basic win 7 version Basic web browsing/ email/ letters etc.

Thanks Bob

A:How to downgrade win 7 on acer aspire one netbook

Actually I think you are doing well to get Ultimate booted at all with that amount of RAM as usually it requires a minimum of 4GB RAM to operate in any practical way. If I may ask why did you install Ultimate and not Home Premium??

As I cannot find the details for that motherboard it is hard to say how much RAM it will support but I think 2GB should not be out of the question but even that amount is hardly enough. So if you don't mind me asking again where did you get that info from??

The CPU from what I see in the specs for that machine is also inadequate in my mind and is used if I am not wrong in those tiny notepads with the 10" screens and with Windows 7 Starter version.

To be honest and realistic I would be inclined to buy a newer machine and have it set up for yourself because this one looks to be causing you some grief in manner of speaking. In any case there are some good deals on quite decent new laptops and if you don't like the 8 they come with you can always run that in 7 style using a free program to do that of course it is not quite the same but very close.

I've just bought myself an Acer Aspire One A0751H netbook which came pre-installed with Windows 7 Ultimate.

There is only 1gb of RAM & an Intel Atom @ 1.37Ghz in the laptop so I'd like to downgrade to XP to speed things up a little bit.

I can't find anything using search engines for this particular model, maybe these methods work but I don't want to follow the instructions for another model for it not to work on my laptop!

Can anyone tell me if this is possible & if so, which is the best method.

As always, responses are greatly appreciated.

I see drivers for XP listed at Acer Support for your model -

Acer Aspire One A0751H - http://support.acer.com/us/en/produc...ort.aspx?tab=1

However, per Acer -

We cannot recommend or support the installation of an Operating System other than that shipped on the computer.
Support is available only for the shipped Operating System.

Downgrade rights appear not available for this system. I suggest you contact Acer Support directly and make inquiry.

I'm pretty familar with working around most computers but this one has stumpped me...

Acer Aspire X AXC-603G-UW31

Had Windows 8 on it. Want to add 7.

So far I was able to wipe the drive clean by hooking it up to another PC using EASEUS Partition manager.
I put the HD back in the Aspire and my Windows 7 disc in the DVD drive. The same error keeps coming up.

"Reboot and Select porper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media in Selected Device and press a key"

Boot priority is set to the DVD. Also when I hit F12 for boot manager it sends me to the error as well.

In Bios there isn't many options like a normal computer. Kind of a cheaper computer so options are cheap as well.

Any ideas?

Downgrade Windows 8 to Windows 7

So I have been tasked to set up a computer for relatives on a brand new Acer Aspire axc-603g desktop computer. One of the things is downgrading from windows 8.1 to windows 7. I have a windows 7 install disc and have tried booting from the disc to install from there. It gets from the "loading files" bar to the "starting windows" when a blue screen pops up saying
"Error: 0x000000A5 Bios is not fully ACPI compliant". This stops any kind of installation to happen.

Things to note:
1) I have disabled secured boot
2) Bios has been set to the legacy setting.

I have reason to believe this error has something to do with UEFI but I am not certain. Any help would be amazing!!

I just went out a 2 days ago and bought an Acer Aspire XC-603G-UW31 for my mother, who was in desperate need of a new computer, and barely understands "Windows 7" after 4 years of use, let alone "Windows 8.1". So, I decided to get it and downgrade the OS for her. After getting it home and setting it up, I updated to the newest version of the BIOS. I downloaded a copy of all the important drivers from the Acer website, and I got out my Windows 7 disks. I tried the setup from the desktop first, and it worked fine until it restarted the computer... Because after I got past the "Loading Windows Files" screen, and on to the "Starting Windows", 2 of the 4 dots appeared on the screen and it froze and gave me a red bar across the top... So I went into the BIOS and was sure that secure boot was off, and spent almost an hour searching for my "Launch CSM" option, only to come to the conclusion that it doesn't exist... So, I tried the installation 2 more times, one with a fresh boot, and the other from the desktop, both ending it that frozen splash screen... So, I contacted Acer, and after climbing the ladder of tech support and supervisors, they have given me the awesome advise along the lines of of, "We have no clue why your computer doesn't have the same BIOS options that every other Acer Aspire XC-603G-UW31 has.". I've searched almost every forum related to this issue and all I have managed to find is one other person that g... Read more

There are a few topics on here reagrding driver for PCI Decive when installing win xp on Acer T671. Each topic said they found the correct driver but never posted a link to what driver it was.

I have been searching the net for hours now with no luck as what driver to install. I have tried various things and im still not any further.

On a different forum someone says:

"Download from the Acer website, the LAN driver for the T660
This will take care of the Ethernet Controller and PCI Device Drivers"

For me however this only solved the Ethernet Problem. So i have all drivers installed apart from PCI Device, which is the reason im not getting any sound.

Any help on this is appriciated.

hello & welcome to TSF ,

you can go here ( http://www.driveragent.com) and have you system scanned for free

this way you will find out what drivers you are looking for don't pay them just scan for the results !!

if your system has ATI Chipsets you can go here ( http://www.ati.com ) to get some of the drivers that you need , you will be looking for support & drivers downloads , you will have to tell them your system type and ect... but that is all automated

So I will "Thank You" ahead of time for your time and help.

Okay..my issue...

I am on an Acer T671 desktop computer. Originally it came with Vista. I am trying to downgrade to XP but I am not having a smooth transition.
I ended up taking the hard drive out of the system and sticking it into an external enclosure to format the drive.

I then took it out of the external enclosure and back into the desktop. I fired up the system and slapped the XP cd into the cd-rom tray...starting going through the process and up came the following error......

" Setupdd.sys could not be loaded. Error code 7. "

I'm hoping I can get some help with this issue.

Thanks again!

A:Setupdd.sys could not be loaded Error code 7 on Acer T671

Hello KorruptKranium

I think that error means incompatible or corrupt hardware.
Did you have any problems before this install?

Disconnect all USB devices and remove all cards except the video card and try again.

If that does not help test the RAM
If you have more than one stick of RAM (256MB or more) swap them over or take one out and try again with only stick #1. If it does not help or makes things worse swap the sticks and try again with only stick #2. Running with one stick at a time will identify if you have a bad stick. Try moving the RAM to a different slot as well.

You can put either of these free programs on a floppy and test the RAM. Let them run for hours to do many passes if you can

Windows Memory Diagnostic http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Memtest on CD ( this is a bootable CD and can be used when you cannot access an operating system)

Use your CD burner to write it onto a CD as an ISO image
Test with only one stick of RAM installed at a time

Here is my problem, its not original, but yet still a problem. I just recently purchased a HP Pavilion dv7 with Vista Home x64. I have purchased this laptop for the specs. I am currently a student pursing a degree in game simulation programming. I have been a XP prof user since the programs release. I have heard nothing but problems with Vista, so I was a little bummed that the only option I had was to get Vista as my OS. It has been about 5 days now and I have grown to like Vista and the new features. This is where my problem comes in.

I need to play and access a number of games, single or multilayer. Only problem is that every so often I hit big lag pockets. By lag I mean that I will freeze in place, along with the environment and other players for no more than 2-4 seconds. Then the game plays catchup. This is putting a huge damper on my usual gaming and school.

I have researched online on what is causing the lag. It appears to be a very common problem. I have tried the Vista-Anti-Lag, WLAN, XP drivers, and disabling the WLAN in command prompt. All have not worked for me. As I read further into it, the mentioned above only seem to work for non 64 bit versions.

Is there a update or something I can do to help stop this? I do not want to have to downgrade back to XP.

My Laptop Spec's are as follows...

I am using a Linksys Gateway for my internet and Comcast as my ISP.

I am using Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN

Ok dude, if your going to pursue the career of game programming then you need to know that all professional programmers don't use Branded PC's. You have to assemble your PC to your needs because this way you will know acknowledge any problems on your system & faster than on a branded pc. It's one of those big advantages dude. Branded PC's are for novices, mainstream products that are sold for random use & not for programmers, computer designers, engineers or even editors.
From my understanding you are experience problems because of missing drivers or maybe your running out of RAM when gaming? 4GB is a minimum while Vista accumulates on idle 1.4GB and even more on full load. Most games out there on the market on a minimum need 1.5GB+. You might be fitting in just barely with the RAM and this causes major lagging & stattering problems. You always need more RAM no matter what & the more you supply it, the faster the computer is. There has been issues posted with HP here somewhere.
Vista is a great OS with more features than XP. One small disadvantage is that it's a young OS but it'll mature sooner or later.

hi everyone. I did this downgrade. It was done as a clean install. I thought all the programs would be deleted along with the program files folder.Unfortunately that wasnt the case. So I wanted to know how to delete the program files folder x86. I tried taking ownership of the folder in command prompt but i get an error. I typed
takeown /f "C:\Program Files (x86)" /r /d n
icacls "C:\Programs Files (x86)" /grant administrators:F /t

And if i do delete this will there be any negative impact to the pc. The downgrade creates a default program files folder, one you wold normally see on an x86 OS as well as the previous x86 folder that was running on the x64 OS. The thing is no program in this program files (x86) folder is being used since it was from the previous install.
I hope I havent confused anyone.
thanks for the help

A:downgrade from x64 to x86

Hello Vimvis, and welcome to Vista Forums.

The 64-bit Vista has two Program Files folders by default. C:\Programs Files for any installed 64-bit programs, and C:\Program Files (x86) for any installed 32-bit programs. This is not from your 32-bit installation since it is not possible. Do not try delete it. Doing so will cause problems with your Vista 64-bit installation.

Since you have tried to, double check to make sure that the owner of the C:\Program Files (x86) is still set as the default TrustedInstaller.

Hope this helps,

I upgraded to WMP 10 without thinking. It turns out my Harmon Kardon USB to SPDIF audio convertor does not support WMP 10 and they do not intend to create an upgrade. They product has been discontinued. I don't want to have to buy new hardware. Anyone have any idea how to get rid of WMP 10 and go back to 9? Of course there is nothing on the Microsoft site that is of any use.

You can use either Add or Remove Programs or System Restore to roll back to the previous version of the Player that was part of your original version of Windows. To roll back from Windows Media Player 10 to a previous version using Add or Remove Programs, do the following:
In Control Panel (Category View), click Add or Remove Programs.
2. Click Add or Remove Programs again, and then do one of the following:
If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2, select the Show updates check box (at the top of the list), click Windows Media Player 10, and then click Change/Remove.
- or -
If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 1 or earlier, click Windows Media Player 10, and then click Change/Remove.

To roll back from Windows Media Player 10 to a previous version using System Restore, see the Use System Restore to Undo Changes if Problems Occur Web page.

You can also remove access to Windows Media Player by using the Set Program and Access Defaults feature. Note that this only removes links to the Player. It does not remove the Windows Media Player software. To remove access to Windows Media Player, do the following:
In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
Click the Set Program and Access Defaults button, and then choose a configuration (such as "Non-Microsoft" or... Read more

I am trying to downgrade from win 10 to win 7 on this laptop (HP 255 G5 Energy Star) and everything has been fine until I started installing drivers, almost every driver I install doesn't seem to install correctly...with 10 installed the fans are always loud and the computer is kinda slow is why I wanted to downgrade. Why doesn't the drivers work?

A:Trying to downgrade to 7

Where are you getting the drivers? The newest hardware platforms are known to be very reluctant to allow themselves to accept Windows 7.

I have a Surface Pro tablet with the system recovery files on a USB stick. Can I use it to restore my operating system back to Windows 8 as I don't feel like 8.1 works as smoothly for me as regular 8 did?

A:Downgrade to 8.0?

This isn't the answer but may I ask what size memory stick you used? I can't seem to get a back up on any of my sticks. Maybe I need a 32gb stick?
