I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi All

We purchased a Aspire T671 which come out with Windows Vista. However Vista does not work with some of our accounting software etc and we were advised to format and install XP Pro as on the other machines in the office.

Xp is working fine on the pc however I cannot get the following drivers:

1. Ethernet Controller
2. PCI Device
3. PCI Modem
4. SM Bus Controller
5. Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

If someone could help regarding this it would be GREAT!

Thanks

hello really need help, i need to know how to get wireless on my computer or if i need to buy a wireless device. please help me

A:acer aspire t671

Welcome to TSG:
To answer your question, more info is needed.
Operating system and level?
Go into device manager, look at the network adapter(s).Tell me what you have listed there.
I'll hack a bit on your model and see what I can see on the net.

Ok:It seems to indicate that you have an integrated network adapter and ethernet connection capability.
If that is really true, and your user's manaual should detail that, then to go wireless,it would seem that all you might need is,of course an existing network connection(ISP) a wireless card, again user's manual is your guide here, a wireless router and a wireless network manager(something like the default, windows zero config,or the wireless manager that would probably come with your wireless adapter card) up and running to manage your wireless connection.

I have come to upgrade my pc by adding a new Graphics card and Memory as i have done in the past on countless occassions with other pc's however this time i cant even open the case i remove the 2 screws and it looks as if it should just slide back but dosent matter what i do it wont move can anybody tell me if i am missing something so simple here

A:Solved: Acer Aspire T671

Sometimes they are difficult to remove the first few times, you may need to use the open palm of you hand, hit the side cover in a glancing blow in the direction toward the rear of the case a few times.

Acer provides no documents other than to say to remove the chassis screws, then remove the panel, no pics.

Hello. friend has the above PC. For some time now, at random intervals, it will emit a 4 second whistle (haven't heard it myself, but assume its from the mobo speaker) followed by 2 secs of silence. Desktop is frozen. Noise continues the same cycle until PC powered off. The inside is dust free and all connections seem secure. Any thoughts, please?

In Jan 2008, I bought a new Acer desktop PC Aspire T671 with 1GB RAM installed. It has been failing quite regularly around once a week. I sent the PC back to Acer. They reformatted my hard-disk and sent it back to me. Whereas before, the PC would freeze in the middle of some work, now it only fails at start-up - it simply does not boot up; I can hear the fan running but nothing on the display. Usually (but not always!) switching off at the mains then holding down start-button for 5seconds etc does alleviate the problem.
I had great trouble re-installing my software after first repair and, therefore, asked Acer to issue me a cedit note after the problems persisted. Acer has refused but they want me to send in the PC again for 2nd repair.

1) Could anyone who has had experience with Acer please advise me if a stand any chance of a credit note (if problems persist after 2nd repair) - my warranty will expire soon!

2) Does T671 model have a known inadequate-PSU problem? What other problem could there possibly be (I do not use share-wares and freewares and a virus problem is unlikely - no virus was reported by Acer after 1st repair either)

Thanks in advance for those posting a reply.

Does anyone know if I can properly downgrade to Windows 7 or even Windows 8.1 on my Aspire V15. I personally dislike Windows 10 and want to downgrade.I've tried downgrading to Windows 7 but it just freezes on the Starting Windows sequence and doesn't continue. I've tried downgrading to Windows 8.1 but I have issues downloading the touch pad drivers and other drivers. Can anyone know how to pass the Starting Windows part or find the correct drivers for Win8.1? Edit: I've tried installing Linux Mint and Ubuntu with no luck either. When the installer is done, it reboots and says No Bootable Device detected.

A:How to downgrade win 7 on acer aspire one netbook

Actually I think you are doing well to get Ultimate booted at all with that amount of RAM as usually it requires a minimum of 4GB RAM to operate in any practical way. If I may ask why did you install Ultimate and not Home Premium??

As I cannot find the details for that motherboard it is hard to say how much RAM it will support but I think 2GB should not be out of the question but even that amount is hardly enough. So if you don't mind me asking again where did you get that info from??

The CPU from what I see in the specs for that machine is also inadequate in my mind and is used if I am not wrong in those tiny notepads with the 10" screens and with Windows 7 Starter version.

To be honest and realistic I would be inclined to buy a newer machine and have it set up for yourself because this one looks to be causing you some grief in manner of speaking. In any case there are some good deals on quite decent new laptops and if you don't like the 8 they come with you can always run that in 7 style using a free program to do that of course it is not quite the same but very close.

Hi,

I've just bought myself an Acer Aspire One A0751H netbook which came pre-installed with Windows 7 Ultimate.

There is only 1gb of RAM & an Intel Atom @ 1.37Ghz in the laptop so I'd like to downgrade to XP to speed things up a little bit.

I can't find anything using search engines for this particular model, maybe these methods work but I don't want to follow the instructions for another model for it not to work on my laptop!

Can anyone tell me if this is possible & if so, which is the best method.

As always, responses are greatly appreciated.

However, per Acer -

I'm pretty familar with working around most computers but this one has stumpped me...

Acer Aspire X AXC-603G-UW31

Had Windows 8 on it. Want to add 7.

So far I was able to wipe the drive clean by hooking it up to another PC using EASEUS Partition manager.
I put the HD back in the Aspire and my Windows 7 disc in the DVD drive. The same error keeps coming up.

"Reboot and Select porper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media in Selected Device and press a key"

Boot priority is set to the DVD. Also when I hit F12 for boot manager it sends me to the error as well.

In Bios there isn't many options like a normal computer. Kind of a cheaper computer so options are cheap as well.

Any ideas?

So I have been tasked to set up a computer for relatives on a brand new Acer Aspire axc-603g desktop computer. One of the things is downgrading from windows 8.1 to windows 7. I have a windows 7 install disc and have tried booting from the disc to install from there. It gets from the "loading files" bar to the "starting windows" when a blue screen pops up saying
"Error: 0x000000A5 Bios is not fully ACPI compliant". This stops any kind of installation to happen.

Things to note:
1) I have disabled secured boot
2) Bios has been set to the legacy setting.

I have reason to believe this error has something to do with UEFI but I am not certain. Any help would be amazing!!

I just went out a 2 days ago and bought an Acer Aspire XC-603G-UW31 for my mother, who was in desperate need of a new computer, and barely understands "Windows 7" after 4 years of use, let alone "Windows 8.1". So, I decided to get it and downgrade the OS for her. After getting it home and setting it up, I updated to the newest version of the BIOS. I downloaded a copy of all the important drivers from the Acer website, and I got out my Windows 7 disks. I tried the setup from the desktop first, and it worked fine until it restarted the computer... Because after I got past the "Loading Windows Files" screen, and on to the "Starting Windows", 2 of the 4 dots appeared on the screen and it froze and gave me a red bar across the top... So I went into the BIOS and was sure that secure boot was off, and spent almost an hour searching for my "Launch CSM" option, only to come to the conclusion that it doesn't exist... So, I tried the installation 2 more times, one with a fresh boot, and the other from the desktop, both ending it that frozen splash screen... So, I contacted Acer, and after climbing the ladder of tech support and supervisors, they have given me the awesome advise along the lines of of, "We have no clue why your computer doesn't have the same BIOS options that every other Acer Aspire XC-603G-UW31 has.". I've searched almost every forum related to this issue and all I have managed to find is one other person that g... Read more

Hi,

There are a few topics on here reagrding driver for PCI Decive when installing win xp on Acer T671. Each topic said they found the correct driver but never posted a link to what driver it was.

I have been searching the net for hours now with no luck as what driver to install. I have tried various things and im still not any further.

On a different forum someone says:

"Download from the Acer website, the LAN driver for the T660
This will take care of the Ethernet Controller and PCI Device Drivers"

For me however this only solved the Ethernet Problem. So i have all drivers installed apart from PCI Device, which is the reason im not getting any sound.

I am on an Acer T671 desktop computer. Originally it came with Vista. I am trying to downgrade to XP but I am not having a smooth transition.

I then took it out of the external enclosure and back into the desktop. I fired up the system and slapped the XP cd into the cd-rom tray...starting going through the process and up came the following error......

" Setupdd.sys could not be loaded. Error code 7. "

I'm hoping I can get some help with this issue.

Hello KorruptKranium

I think that error means incompatible or corrupt hardware.
Did you have any problems before this install?

Disconnect all USB devices and remove all cards except the video card and try again.

If that does not help test the RAM
If you have more than one stick of RAM (256MB or more) swap them over or take one out and try again with only stick #1. If it does not help or makes things worse swap the sticks and try again with only stick #2. Running with one stick at a time will identify if you have a bad stick. Try moving the RAM to a different slot as well.

OR
You can put either of these free programs on a floppy and test the RAM. Let them run for hours to do many passes if you can

memtest86
http://www.memtest86.com/

Windows Memory Diagnostic http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Memtest on CD ( this is a bootable CD and can be used when you cannot access an operating system)
http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/256/mirrors.php

Use your CD burner to write it onto a CD as an ISO image
Test with only one stick of RAM installed at a time

Hello and Welcome.....When you buy the computer see if you can get a downgrade copy of Windows 7 for free from the store you buy the computer, if not then you would have to buy a copy of Windows 7. After you install windows 7 you may have to install drivers for your hardware. I recommend you download the drivers first from the manufactures web site before you do the format. But before you go that route, you may try a little program called Classic Shell for Win8. It is a Freeware program you can install and it will give you feel of Windows 7. I have installed this for some folks and they were OK with it. You can read about it @ hxxp://www.classicshell.net/

Good day I have a HP Spectre x360 - 13-4101ni (ENERGY STAR) and I want to downgrade it to Windows 7 Proffessional. The problem is I do not see drivers for win7 and will the drivers for Win 10 work?

A:Downgrade

Mxolisi2 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! In new HP Win10 machines, the hardware is new and, as a result, there are no HP Win7 or Win8 drivers for that hardware. If you force a downgrade to an older OS version, the problem you're up against is that Microsoft only supplies drivers with the most basic functionality, and what you really need for FULL functionality in laptops is the specialized drivers written for the specific hardware found in laptops. Without the HP drivers, one or more of the hardware components is not going to work properly. That can result in problems ranging from malfunctioning switchables graphics, to no WiFi, to no sound, and other such driver-related issues. Also, understand that a new PC coming with Win10 preinstalled has no Win7 license rights. So, you will have to PURCHASE a Win7 license in order to activate your copy after installation -- and that's going to run around $100 USD minimum. However ... if you are DETERMINED to downgrade, then BEFORE you do that, use a tool known as Macrium Reflect to take an image backup of your Win10 system. This way, if the downgrade doesn't work out well, you will then be able to restore your working version of Win10.Macrium Reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or entire drives: http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspxWhat I recommend is the following:1) Download and install Macrium Reflect (MR)2) Run MR and choose the option: "Create an image of the part... From what I'm hearing one can't downgrade from pro to home, correct ? If that's the case, what would happen if ? I have 2 laptops which came with windows 7 home. I bought both brand new with windows 7 home . What I done with both was loaded them up and registered them with the manufacturer for warranty purposes . Afterwards, I removed both original hard drives and installed new HDD's for both . I then installed windows 8 pro on both . From what I'm told by MS these 8's are retail versions . Okay, then I upgraded both to 10 pro and both got activated with no problems. Since retail are transferable ? What I like to know now if I were to places back the original hard drives back to both my laptops with windows 7 home and I went to upgrade them to 10, which would I have 10 home or pro ? Don't forget I will be using the original product keys of windows 7 home for the upgrade. Oh yeah, And I now want to load my 8 pro retail versions to different computers

A:You can't downgrade ?

You will get Home since that is the version that would be on the hard drive when you upgraded to 10. Run ShowkeyPlus and post result here. Click on the keys to hide them automatically with ***S. The one I didn't hide is a generic key used for the upgrade to 10. Looks like this:

I am sick and tired of Internet Explorer crashing on me and loading slowly, so I wish to downgrade to IE6. I tried to go to add and remove programs, i uninstalled it, and when i rebooted the computer IE7 was still there. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

A:IE Downgrade

First of all you have Windows XP SP3 installed and this may be why you still have IE7 installed. SP3 is in R Candidate still and has not been released to finsl.
If you are having extreme trouble, you can also contact Microsoft directly for help. Microsoft has created a Web page that is solely devoted to help and support for IE 7. There are some common FAQs on this page, along with a contact phone number for support. All of this information can be found

Okay so I finally got windows 7 64bit up and running properly and noticed my computer was only recognizing 4gb instead of the 8gb I actually have. That is now the least of my worries. One of the first things I did was flash my motherboard to the newest version with success and ever since then Ive had nothing but problems and blue screens of death.

Motherboard: ASUS M4A87TD/USB 3.0 http://www.asus.com/Motherboard/M4A87TDUSB3/

Current version of BIOS:) Version 2001 Date:03/08/2011 ( American Megatrends Inc.
Version I would like to downgrade to: Version 0601 (Initial Release)

I did the flash upgrade via EZ Flash 2.0 from an 8gb USB stick with the updated BIOS in .Rom format and of course trying to do the opposite of using EZ Flash to the previous version brings up the "this is an older version of BIOS" and it simply will not allow me. Trying to revert to the old BIOS version via the mobo disc simply wont allow me to "downgrade" as it says.

Hello cctaylor88,A Bios update, successfully performed, should not cause these problems. I suspect there are other reasons for the crashes. If we could gather a little more information about the problem computer, it might prove helpful in pointing toward a solution.1. ) Please follow this link: BSOD Posting Instructions Windows 8 - Windows 7 - Vista.Follow all instructions with the exception of:Create a new thread HERE and attach the file(s) after step 4Note: Both files of Step 1 need to be in the Documents folder.2. ) Upload the zipped folder to a File Sharing website of your choosing because Bleeping Computer has a 512 K only upload limit and this file will be much larger. For a listing of free File Sharing websites see: http://technojourney.com/trending/best-alternatives-megaupload-and-filesonic-file-hosting/or you may use Box.com.Post a link to the file in your next post.3. ) To help us get a better look at your computer's hardware, please download and install Speccy by Piriform. I was looking around the settings and found add features. I did that and set it up. I now started it and it says I am unable to activate it, so I would like to remove it and just go back to 8.1.

Thanks all.

P.S. I know it's possible to activate it using a program, but I support Microsoft and would like to acquire it legally.

P.P.S Please don't say "Just contact them" I know I can, but for the time being I want to revert.

A:How to downgrade from pro to 8.1?

Hi Trevor, I've just read your post and I don't understand what you saying, could you tell us in more detail?
