Preferred Solution: Error in KERNEL32.DLL

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

Try going to Start, Settings, Control Panel. Then open up Add/Remove Programs, and click on Internet Explorer, then click on Add/Remove. When prompted, click on Repair Internet Explorer, and click OK.

If this doesn't fix the problem, then you might need to look at the possibility that another program that's running in the background may be causing the error.

Hi.

Last month my brother had downloaded few games but non of them worked because of dll errors. First i thought its because they were downloaded from pirate sites. But now, i am getting 2 dll errors when i launch World of Tanks (game that was downloaded from official site). I have never had before such an issue with that game but regardless those errors i was still able to play it. Now i have downloaded another game (from official site too) and when i try to launch it, error happens. It says "The procedure entry point GetLogicalProcessorInformation could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll."

I tried to re-register the file but it failed. It said the file was loaded but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. I would appreciate if someone would help me fix this problem.

Right i've recently reinstalled Windows XP Home back on my machine because it was playing up and now everything is fixed. But when I started installing my things again, when I was installing my dads game that worked before I re-installed windows. Now when I try to open the Joint Operations game shortcut I get a message saying
Jointops.exe -Entry Point Not Found
"The procedure entry point MakeCriticalSectionGlobal could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll."

I believe this has something to do with DirectX but I have downloaded and installed DirectX 9.0a (or whatever the latest version is). And I still have the error occuring.

Also I have looked at DirectX through Start > Search > DirectX
And looked in the folder DxDiagnostic Tool which is the options for DirectX (I think). And there is no error or caution warnings in the status box, all say "No problems found".

Anyone know why and how I can fix this cause my dad wants to play on his game and it's driving me nuts

Hi, I think you might try another download...first-
if the same thing happens, see below:
I am NOT sure if this will allow Yahoo to install, but it helps with programs that are written in certain computer languages that your system cannot understand...newer programming...

Here are the two downloads that may help you:

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/downloadfaq.html

We have people over in Security forum install these downloads to be able to install SpywareBlaster, SpyBot Search and Destroy....who knows, they may be what is stopping your installation? It's down at the bottom----
the two missing file installers. Good luck! They will NOT harm anything.

This link has explanations and other places to download the files:

Hello,

At the start I'd like to sorry for all the language mistakes.

Today I've got some problems running my computer. At the begging, Windows didn't want to update - "failed to update". I am running old version right now. Next, I couldn't run my web browser, Mozilla Firefox, because there was an error "File KERNEL32.dll is missing". I resinstalled the browser, and it's working now. Finnaly, a horrible thing happened. A game, Mad Max, crushed 2 times, because of some errors (it never happened before). Unfortunatelly, I don't remember why (the error messages), but I can remember, that it was related to virus.

Now, why am I writing about it here? Because it affects Windows. Badly - windows update, black screens while running such things as Windows searching. I can't search for the Virus with Avast, because I have pretty slow computer, and after 30 minutes of scanning, there was no progress, fast scanning doesn't detect anything (Fast scanning finished in 1 minute, and I was pretty suprised with that, because it's much faster than compared to other users, and slow scanning is much slower than compared to other users). I can't run Windows Defender as well. I ran CMD scanning (command sfc /scannow), and there's attachment.

It has a plenty of DIRSD owner warnings - I read about them, and they don't appear to be serious errors, but from the other side I read about KERNEL32.dll (the Mozilla running error), and they are probably related.

Sounds like a corrupt install try the following....

Close Eudora, then do a search for the file "eudora.ini" (or configuration file) in the Eudora directory. Rename this file to "Eudora.old". Now start up Eudora, re-enter your settings information, and see if the problem continues.
NOTE: This process will not affect your address book, mailboxes, or saved messages. However, you will have to re-enter your settings information. You may want to write down your settings in Eudora if you don't know your settings information - such as your POP and SMTP info, etc.
If this process takes care of the GPF, then you'll need to make sure that you close windows in Eudora before you close the program. If the error continues, then you'll need to check your video drivers. Check with the manufacturer of your video card and make sure you're using the very latest drivers for the card.

Practically everytime I start up my computer, when it brings up the desktop then this error appears:

Explorer has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL
Explorer will now close.

It frequently is accompanied by this error message as well:

C:\WINDOWS\Desktop is not accessible.
The system cannot open the file.

When I close the error boxes, the computer freezes (mouse pointer will not move, etc.) and I cannot restart the computer using the CTRL+ALT+DEL method. This means I have to turn it off manually, which, of course, is bad for my computer. I'd really like a solution to this problem.

Right now I just continue to turn it off manually, and try and try again until the error isn't there and when this does happen, the computer works fine. But this rarely happens. It only works about every 2 out of 10 tries.

My computer's OS is Windows ME, it's a Compaq Presario 5000 Series, 5012US.

I know that Windows ME is not the greatest operating sytem, but right now I cannot afford to get Windows XP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry if this counts as a double post; I originally posted this in the operating system section of the forums but a member told me that I should post here instead.

I am (or used to be) running Windows XP Professional on a Dell optiplex GX520. Recently, I noticed that the computer was acting strangely; google search results were redirected to spam websites, everything seemed to be slowing down, etc. I attempted to run anti-virus software but to no avail. Eventually I decide to just restart my computer in the hopes that it would help. A:kernel32.dll error message

update:

I've managed to get everything under control in Windows XP Home edition, though it is annoying to have a brand new OS and finding and transferring files. My main problem now is that my computer does not recognize my speakers at all. They're properly connected to the computer and to an outlet and everything, just as they were before this big mess happened, but not Windows does not even know that they exist. I assume that because neither I nor my computer knows what kind of speakers they are, it's not as simple as installing a driver... right?

Also, I am still occasionally getting redirected to spam websites when I click on google search results. I'll continue to clean my registry with ccleaner and scan my computer with malwarebytes, but so far they've yielded no viruses or anything.

A:kernel32 dll error comes and can't use firefox

Hi there

I'm not too sure if this is a hardware problem, a driver problem, an OS problem or Fx causing it.

What if you don't use Firefox, do you still get this problem?
What if you use IE, do you still get it?

Google Toolbar is known to cause many problems in conjunction with Firefox. Go to the Start menu and find Mozilla Firefox (safe mode) under Programs and launch that up.

See if that causes this problem. Whatever it is, is trying to access this file which is in a protected memory space, this setting off this error.

Hey, lately my Internet explorer has been acting up. I keep on getting an error message:

EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 0167:bff9dfff.

But when I close the error box nothing happens and I can go on working but the message box will come up again. I don't know what this means and I tried repairing IE but nothing's changed.
Just to mention, I've run ad-aware, AVG and my start-up list is clean.
The rest of the error message is:

From Wiki:
Crazy Browser is an alternative interface for the Windows version of Internet Explorer. Crazy Browser has tabbed browsing along with a pop-up blocker. Java Applets, ECMAScript, ECMAScript errors, and ActiveX can also be blocked.

Before going anywhere, did you download and install the Crazy Browser? Which browser and version are you using? IE6? IE7? Firefox v2.0.0.6? Other?

Have you done recent spyware/adware scans with updated programs?

Hi! I have winME. I am getting kernel32.dll errors whenever I try to use Windows Media Player (I downloaded an entirely updated version and replaced all components, but this did not help). Then I downloaded RealPlayer One and I am having the same problem. When I try to play a cd or song, the kernel error pops up.

I did have MusicMatch & the old Real Player and they worked fine, but they are out of date players and wouldn't do everything I needed. How do I fix this kernel error?

Note that in running tasks I have three kernel32.dll's:

I have just installed Microsoft PictureIt Photo 2001 on my Compaq Presario bundled computer. The box does not specifically say it is for Windows ME OS. I had no problems with the installation, and everything works while I am using it (except for occassional freezups, which I am used to with the ME OS), but when I close the program when I am finished with it, the following error message appears every time:

Pip has caused an error in Kernel32
Pip will now close
If you continue to have this problem, try restarting your computer.
Obviously restarting does not correct the Kernel32 error since I get it every time I close MSPictureIt Photo 2001.

I have looked up the Kernel32 error page on the Microsoft Error Help page, it does not explain enough for me to know what to look for to find the specific file I need to correct the Picture It error. Can someone give me specifics as to what to do to fix the problem with the Kernel32 error specifically relating to my Pip program?

I recently started getting this error message when trying to open AIM:

"AIM caused and error in KERNEL32.DLL.
AIM will now close.
If you continue to experience problems,
try restarting your computer."

Crappy. So I wiped out AIM and reinstalled. Still get the same error message when I try to sign on to AIM. Can't use IM at all!!

I'm using WinME and I have only one copy of KERNEL32.DLL, version 4.90.0.3000.

Also once I got a similar error message, though only once:

"AIM caused and error in MYAIM.OCM.
AIM will now close.
If you continue to experience problems,
try restarting your computer."

Anyone know what might be going on?

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. The result.txt file will open up in Notepad. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. We do not need the original hijackthis.log (unless we ask for it). Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

I am running Windows 2000 on a Compaq Presario 7940. I am running DirectX 7.0. There was a problem with getting my DirectX working properly. The directdraw drivers were not being recognized. I tried to mess around with an earlier version of direct draw and now somehow have messed up any program that would seem to use directX. The error that I receive is "entry point not found" "the procedure entry point MapLS could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll". It will not even let me load up any program that would use directX. I just keep getting that error. How do I go about fixing it?? Can anyone please help me with this. Thanks in advanced.

Greetings

Have you tried re-installing Win2K over the current installation? This might help. Also, remember that you are running an NT-based Operating system, not a Windows9x based operating system. DirectX is part of the operating system, not a multimedia add-on, so you can not just go installing DirectX on your system. DirectX upgrades normally arrive in NT service Packs.

Also, with Compaqs, the hardware is very proprietry, which means that your OS is a Compaq tweaked version of Win2K. This means that some sound and graphic cards either do not work, or might have diminished compatibility. This is why I prefer Dell. it has none of this proprietry nonsense.

Cheers

No idea what it is causing it. I was duped into running a file that I downloaded that was supposed to be a different file and since then I have been removing spyware/malware using AdAware SE and SpybotS&D and well as every time I restart my computer, there is a small error box that shows up that just says "Kernel32.dll error."

Hello all. My friend has winxp on a 350mhz p2, ram is unknown. approx 8 gigs. I have searched this site and tried a bunch of kernel32.dll fixes I saw, but none worked so far. Problem is he cant print a web page. All other printing outside a web page works, but not when directly on the page to print it. He has america offline and norton. This problem has started recently, yet says he has not added any programs or done anything differently or changed any settings. It is a computer he only uses for his business. I checked for spyware, adaware, a few things found, basic stuff. deleted them, still no help. Ran virus check through norton and online sites, none found. Cleared cached, temp files, etc, no luck. Made sure printer, hp desktop 900c series was set to default, even deleted and reinstalled, no luck. Went to hp and microsoft sites for help, nothing there. I saw a fix on here for win98 that had a command to run in the run box, did that just in case, still nothing. No conflicts in device manager and only printer installed is the hp one. Thinking of deleting norton, see if problem is still there or not without it. When using ie or the aol browser, if you want to call it a browser, problem still happens. He also cant hear any sounds, if that may be of relevance here, but I have not diagnosed that yet, but it may be related. I dont think this is anything serious, as kernel32.dll problems seem kind of common. Any ideas???? Thanks for the help as usual! Mike.

First of all Happy New year to all!

This error has been posted here before and Rollin' Rog has given me some pointers but to no avail. The problem that a friend of mine is facing is the following:

While she's surfing the net and a link opens a new window, the new window opens but the moment she closes this new created window, IE crashes which results in the following error in the eventlog (dutch Windows XP SP2):

Vastgelopen toepassing: iexplore.exe, versie: 6.0.2900.2180, vastgelopen module: kernel32.dll, versie: 5.1.2600.2180, vastgelopen op: 0x0001eb33.

This is the exact same as the english error:

Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x0001eb33.

I've tried numerous things. Nothing seems to work. The last solution Rollin' Rog gave me (looking for the context handlers) didn't help. The only contexthandlers she had were made by Norman (Antivirus) and the Microsoft ones. I'm not sure the problem is with the rightclicking therefore the solution should probably be found somewhere else. She's had this problem for quite sometime now (almost a year if not more). I think that installing and using FireFox would be a solution, however I like to see if I can resolve this problem.
