I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

After a round of Windows updates, I went to turn on my laptop and recieved the "Primary internal battery (601)" error.  After this screen, however, Windows would not load.  I have tried taking the battery out and 'draining the charge',  and starting up the computer plugged directly to AC with no battery.  Windows still does not load.  The start-up test in the diagnostics menu said the battery needed calibration, however when I go to run the battery test, it gets to "waiting for battery to charge" and exits out of the test without giving me any results at all.  Currently when turning on the computer I no longer get the "primary internal battery" error, it just goes directly to a black screen with blinking cursor.  Any help is appreciated, I'm completely at a loss here!

It would help to know your laptop model. But I would say the "internal" is the CMOS or Real Time Clock battery. That is why I ask your model because it is unusual to see one of those die in less than 5 years. The model of the laptop would also allow us to show you how to replace the internal battery. It can be quite a job although the little battery (like a hearing aid battery) is very inexpensive usually.

I have received the dreaded 601 error before my start-up process.  I ran the battery check through the operating systems' diagnostics (F2) and it said it would need replaced due to use over time.  I also ran the battery charge check through HP Support Assistant and it said that it was very weak and possibly needed replaced.   How do I replace my internal battery?  The website that HP Support Assistant took me to only had the external batteries available.

A:Internal Battery Error (601)

Can we have your full model number? I think the error you are seeing refers to the "main", large battery and not the little clock or CMOS battery. Is your system closed so that the battery is not easily removeable? The full model number will point us to the right service manual which will show the part you need and the replacement process. Also need to know what country you live in.  http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c00033108

Hi there,  I've been trying to find the solution on my own but I'm just out of my depth here.  When I turn on my laptop I get a black screen that tells me there is a 601 error with my internal battery. I'd like to purchase another battery and replace it because I need my laptop working perfectly for the bar exam in July 2016. Is this something I can do myself or should I take it to a shop? I think this is the battery I need: 6 cell 62WHr 2.8 Ah lithium-ion battery Can someone confirm that? Also, I'm not sure what the internal batter is. There's a battery that I can eject from the bottom of my laptop. The Regulatory Model Number is HSTNN-LB3N and it's a rechargeable Li-ion battery. It also says to change with HP spare 671731-01. Is this a different battery than the 6 cell one I mention above?  I'd greatly appreciate the help! Thank you in advance!

Hi, Since a couple of months I have had an issue with my pavilion laptop. When I start the laptop I get once in a while an Internal Error 601 which states I have to replace my battery. When windows has started, windows shows an issue with   the accu and shows error messages like : ''Plugged in, not charging'' and a batterypercentage of 0%. Actually I can work with the laptop for hours, the only problem is when my laptop shuts down because Windows thinks the battery is empty. When I plug in the adapter, reboot the system and unplug the adapter the battery continues to work (but still shows the errors).Sometimes I don't get the internal error at all and windows shows perfectly the remaining power left within the battery, but when connecting the adapter or when the accu is fully charged, the computer shuts down and when rebooting the internal error comes again.  I did run the HP System Diagnostics Battery Test twice (once while showing the internal error and once while everything works fine), the first time it shows I have to replace the battery, the second time it states: ''The battery is working fine'' and shows a capacity of 80%.  I really don't know how to fix this issue, replacing the battery is quite expensive and I don't know if the battery is really damaged. It just charges and delivers power to my computer and except for the shutdowns and errors it seems to work perfectly. Are there any solutions to this, or is replacing the battery th... Read more

A:Internal Battery Error: 601 on HP 15-u010dx 360 laptop

Hi, The 601 error is actually a little misleading - it actually refers to your notebooks main lithium ion battery and not the rtc ( cmos ) cell on the system board as it seems to suggest.  It generally starts to appear when the LiOH battery charge capacity has fallen below 25% of its original value.  Further details on this can be found on the following HP Document. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443470 The battery will be covered under the same term as your notebook, so just contact HP and arrange to have it replaced  - if needed, you can check your warranty status Here. If you live in the US, contact HP Here. If you are in another part of the world, start Here. Regards, DP-K

So, lets have a look.

Have you tried pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del, and endTasking on everything except Explorer, then try and install.

Also, which version of IE do you have? To find out, go to Help | About in your IE browser window.

Also, which version of Windows and Nero are you using?

Could you also check the manufacture dates on a couple of examples in case they may be newer than the firmware updater and therefore not recognized by it and also, it would be helpful, if you could let us know the BIOS version from an example of each MT which is presenting you with the error please?

First, make sure you've applied all the Windows updates, then install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (check the system requirements, Windows Installer 3.1 and instructions in this link before installing). Reboot and you should be done.

Post back if this doesn't help and we'll try something else.

Hi,
I have a Dell Laptop Inspirion 1525. About 6 months or so ago while it was still under warranty we got this message. " error message 2000-0141 -internal hdd disk not found, try and reseat drive"

Dell had me pull out the hard drive and reseat it back in. It worked fine until earlier this month end of last month got the message again. I did the same thing, it worked fine. Just got the message again the other day. Did the same thing its currently working.

I called Dell the last time, unfortunately it is now not under warranty. I am pretty good with software hardware installations etc....so if there is something I can do myself no problem, not sure if this means it needs a new hard drive????

Any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance,...dano

Hoping this problem will be noticed by more people, the original post on this issue came from:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Linux-Discussion/T470-Linux-Power-Bridge-wrong-discharge-order/td-p/365...https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/63odjr/t470_battery_order_question_internal_discharges/ Brief description: same problem with OS including Win 10, Ubuntu 16.04, Gentoo etc. The internal battery always gets discharged first regardless its remaining power, which is generally harmless but seems not so good for the internal battery life. With my own T470 machine, updated with the latest 1.29 BIOS, this problem remains. According to searching results online, this little bug came with early versions of X's and T' including T460. PS: this issue had been successfully fixed with T460 via BIOS update 1.26, hoping it would be fixed with T470 sooner or later. Best regards.

Hi everyone, Title says it all, I know this topic of discharging internal battery first has been brought up a lot, and that the reason behind it is this: The T470s are designed to drain the battery with least wear first so as to degrade both batteries equally and prolong the laptop's overall battery life. However, as I'm using a new 61++ battery, clearly somethig is going wrong somewhere as the year old internal battery cannot be in better condition than the brand new external.https://gyazo.com/6c12f3f40514599d04d852a8589189ab Any ideas? Thanks!

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 15 that has recently been having some issues. Starting 11-28-2016 my computer would periodically show an error stating "The battery is not detected. Try reinstalling or recharging the battery to solve the problem.". When this occurred originally, the computer was always running on battery power with greater than 25% battery life left and following the message, the entire system would behave sluggishly resulting in an inability to type or use the computer for several minutes. More recently, the computer will power off suddenly and without warning losing all unsaved data. About 50% of the time when the computer is powered back on, I get a critical battery level notice (despite the battery indicating it had sufficient charge immediately before powering off) and the computer will not power up. The other 50% of the time the computer has no problem powering back on and behaves normally. Also, recently I have been getting the battery detection error even when the computer is plugged in to the AC adapter, but the computer does not behave sluggishly after the message when it is on charge. As this model has an internal battery, I cannot remove and replace it easily and, as the battery often is nearly fully charged when this occurs, I am skeptical that the battery itself is actually bad. I would appreciate any suggestions for troubleshooting or solutions. Thank you!

I am having Inspiron-6400 (XP SP3) laptop. 2 years old. Suddenly I am getting the following message for the past two days:
"Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge. Please connect a Dell 65W AC adapter or higher for best system operation."
That error message comes when I plug in the AC adapter to go to AC from battery.
It results in Battery not charging. That is a big problem. The tray-icon just shows 'On AC Power' and the 'Charging' indication does not appear any more.
A related message is also seen when I reboot the laptop, at the start itself. That message adds a suggestion by saying 'Try to reseat the power adapter'. Reseating it does not help. Though, a couple of times it helped. So I am not sure what this mechanical / reseating thing has to do with this error.
Overall, it is frustrating. It will be great if someone can help me with the exact solution for this, other than going to Dell requesting for paid-service support.

A:Power Adapter Error message & Battery Not charging!

I am having the same problem with my Studio 1735, 5 months old.  I removed and reinserted the battery, which seemed to fix the issue (at least for now).  Anyone else having the same problem, and if so, anything else that needs done to fix it?  Thanks.
