Preferred Solution: Lenovo IdeaCentre 510-15ABR - installing an SSD for brand

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I would like to install a ssd to my new IdeaCentre 510-15ABR. Is there the ability to install a ssd or would I have to invest in a hybrid ?

A:Lenovo IdeaCentre 510-15ABR - installing an SSD for brand

A SSD is no different from a regular spinning drive to the computer , and per the Hardware Maintenance Manual for your model, you can add a M.2 SSD storage drive (see page 34 of Hardware maintenance manual) in addition to the drive you already have if it is a spinner  in the storage bay, so there is no reason to go with a hybrid, and I believe one additional storage bay is available on that model as well that can accept an addition 3.5" drive, or even a 2.5" HDD or SSD drive (with 3.5"-2.5" adapter) as shown on page 37. Cheers,

I recieved the Lenovo Ideacentre Y700 yesterday but when I went to set it up I found that no matter how I connected it to the monitor, the monitor showed a no signal error. All of the cables (HDMI and VGA) were brand new and so was the monitor. I tried literally every port on the thing. So I have no idea why it isn't working. Can anyone help?

A:Ideacentre 510-15abr - Windows 8 Graphics Driver?

Hi stoakse,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you have the hardware ID (device manager right click property to show under details)?

With the hardware ID to search for any 3rd party drivers for Win8, you can also allow a Win7 or Win10 driver to run on compatibility mode (right click to check on option for a downloaded driver).

Another option is to use Windows 8.1 native driver either from automatic optional offered drivers or manually search update for it.

Such options may limit using full drivers features compared to an OEM/ device manufacturer certified driver so keeping the same activated Window 10 may still be best.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

I've just bought an Lenovo IdeaCentre 510s Intel Core i5 Processor 8GB 2TB Tower.  I also purchased a Samsung 256 GB SSD with the idea of installing the OS and my programs onto that and then using the 2 TB as storage for videos, photos etc. Can I install this SSD as described above into the machine I have bought as per the youtube clip below? I've looked at this clip as a tutorial as to installing the SSD.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JOxKSkkdMM Note that I do not have a power cable available but browsing this forum I have found that I need this cable.  https://www.moddiy.com/products/Original-IBM-Lenovo-Mini-4%252dPin-to-2-x-SATA-Power-Sleeved-Cable-%... I've posted in another thread (https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkCentre-A-E-M-S-Series/Lenovo-ThinkCentre-M910s-Mini-4-Pin-to-2-x-S...) about whether this is the correct cable but this post is whether I can actualy install the SSD?  I intend to install the SSD.  Do a clean install of the OS onto the SSD and then boot from that when I turn the computer on.  (Using the 2TB included for storage.)  Is there anything else I need to know regards BIOS settings etc etc.  Unfortunately I do not know what I do not know.    Thank you

I bought an ideapad 310-15ABR 4 months ago brand new and within less than 2 months it died on me completely. I then received another brand new one for a replacement a week later. Now it has been another 2 months and I am having problems with this one as well! Around 2 times a week it will suddenly reset on its own while I am using it with no warning. No updates are occuring and it is always charged. No idea what is going on but I have lost several things I was doing because of it. Wondering now if I need another replacement or just a refund to buy a better brand. If anyone knows what is causing this I would appreciate the assistance. Needless to say though I am not very impressed with the Lenovo brand after this. My first and almost definitely last Lenovo purchase...

Hi, I wanted to install a HDD on my PC but when I tried, I couldnt find any Sata power connection except 2 ports on the motherboard, under that it says SATA_pwr1 and SATA_pwr2. I guess thats how you connect them (see the picture). They look like 4p ATX power connector but they are smaller, so what are they? how do I get them? I need that connection adapted to SATA Power ConnectorBTW, In the manual it says that there is allready a cable for installing a HHD, but not in my PC.

A:Lenovo IdeaCentre 510-15IKL - Installing HDD but missing SATA powe Cable/unkown connection

Later ThinkCentres do the same thing (see this thread.)  Since this is non-standard, these power cables are Lenovo specific and should be available as a replacement part, but perhaps a company like ModDIY (which makes the 24-pin to 14 and 10-pin adapters to enable the installation of after-market power supplies) may make replacements also.

A:Lenovo 320-15abr 80x battery concern

Hi Choychoy,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It is safe to use the laptop on ac and rather preferred as this would save battery life cycle .
Nowadays newer batteries have protective chips that limit over charging it preventing burnouts. The machine auto switches to ac mode soon as the battery charging met its threshold limit.

From the hardware manual (page 22):
" Battery charging does not start until the Power Meter shows that less than 95% of the total power remains; under this condition the battery pack can charge to 100% of its capacity. This protects the battery pack from being overcharged or from having a shortened life"

It is still true that heat is one of the important factors that degrades battery but as the machine goes on ac power it does not use the battery still small amount of heat can still radiate internally. Using the laptop within low ambient temperature or using bottom cooler fans can help in prolonged gaming.

Hope this helps answer your query.

I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad 320-15ABR two or three months ago from a Best Buy in the area, and recently I've been having issues where the computer will just freeze. Basically what happens is that I will be doing something, like watching a video or playing some game, and then after a while the computer will freeze, forcing me to shut down the computer manually by holding down the power button for a few seconds, which I know is not good for the computer. Recently, I've also had issues with the computer even freezing after a couple hours of being idle. I got this laptop so I could do work on my college assignments and also be able to get some gaming capability out of it as well, as it's better than the laptop I had initially, and I would like to get this figured out. Any help would be really appreciated.

Hey guys,I've recently purchased this laptop, but I can't seem to make it work as I would expect it to work. So the thing is, I bought this laptop for learning purposes, but also for gaming. I didn't have big expectations, because this is not a gamer laptop, but it does have decent specs. I think the problem might be with the drivers, because even if I change the graphics in-game, the fps doesn't  change, I get the same fps in League of legends with very low settings and with high-medium settings, and also get constant fps-spikes, or some other games can't even detect my secondary gpu(for example: Path of the exile, Civ VI, none of these are very demanding games). The things I tried:downloading drivers from lenovo websitetrying to update these drivers with through radeon settingsclearing all the drivers, and using auto-detect of amd to download new driversmessing around with radeon settings options(assigning gpus to programs/setting priority to them)checking if it was a temperature issue(nothing went above 60 °C)I also want to add, that I tried most of these right after installing windows on my laptop, so it was relatively clean. Please tell me, what I can do to make it work, or if I should give up, because thats what this laptop has to offer. Thank you in advance,Tamás My specs:ProcessorAMD A12-9720P RADEON R7, 12 COMPUTE CORES 4C+8G Video CardAMD Radeon R7 Graphics Video Card #2AMD Radeon R8 M535DX RAM4.0 GB Operating Syste... Bought 310-15ABR few days ago, and i have issue with restarting this laptop. The problem is that, whenever I click "Restart" or if Windows automatically restarts (after updates), the laptop will shutdown and boot to lenovo logo screen and stay there forever. I have to click ALT CTRL DEL to reboot it again and it will then show lenovo logo and boot into windows. This happens on every restart. Essentially restart functionality is as good as shutdown. Its better to shutdowns and then click the power on button. Here is what i have discovered:- The issue disappears if i am not logged in into my windows account. So basically if i boot into windows and dont sign in, then restart, it will restart into windows and go to login screen.- The issue pops up if i am logged in into my windows account and click the restart button, no matter how long i used the laptop Here is what i have done so far:- Reset bios to default setting - Reset windows to defaut- Installed windows from scratch using bootable USB.- Flashed the latest bios - Installed and uninstalled all the lenovo drivers- Installed a new SSD replacing the hard disk The issue hasnt resolvedNeed some help ThanksRon

Good afternoon all.  I'm hoping someone here can help me with this.  I bought this Lenovo ideapad 320-15ABR at Thanksgiving and received it at the beginning of December.  I bought it mainly so that I could use Photoshop, Microsoft Office and to watch TV/movies online.  The only things I've installed on this computer since receiving it was the Photoshop 2018 and Avast Antivirus.  I disabled the Windows Defender antivirus and I couldn't find McCaffee anywhere on my computer.  Anyway, I've used this computer to watch movies a few times now for the last several weekends and at least once during a movie (either through Netflix or Amazon Prime) I will get an error message that reads something along the lines of:  "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart."  Basically the blue screen of death.  It's incredibly frustrating because I've been happy with Lenovo products in the past.  I'm also not a huge fan of Windows 10 and while I don't blame Lenovo for the changes Microsoft keeps making, these new changes coupled with the constant blue screens of death on a brand spanking new computer have made me a very unhappy customer.  Because of the changes with Windows, I'm not familiar at all with how to troubleshoot this problem (or even where to start) to see if there is something wrong with my laptop hardware or if it's a driver error.  If I can I'd like to try to understand how to find out what... Hello everyone! I have Ubuntu 18.04 installed on my Lenovo Ideapad 320 15-ABR as a single system. Since I made the change from Windows 10,  when i return to open the computer after "close" it and suspend it for a few minutes or hours, I find the screen completely stuck and glitched in colors without anything i can do but turn off and then on again the computer whit the power button. I've read in Ubuntu forums that could be because the drivers I'm using for the graphics card are generic and "free" of linux. The problem is that I can not install proprietary drivers (AMD Radeon) because the amd drivers website doesnt allow these be downloaded individually, but ask to "identify" your hardware using an app for windows that you are asked to download. The problem is that this app can not be installed or run on Linux systems. Any idea how to find the correct drivers for my equipment, available for download? And some idea of ??how to install them correctly in Ubuntu? Thanks in advice
