I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Soon after an update that fixed the recent zero-day flaw discovered in Internet Explorer (IE) versions 7, 8, and 9, Microsoft released a separate patch that solves issues related to the Adobe Flash Player component of IE 10. One was identical to the cross-domain request vulnerability fixed last week in Flash Player, Adobe's ubiquitous media player, while the second was a vulnerability that attackers could exploit to install malware on a targeted machine.

Kingston Technology is instructing customers to return certain models of its memory sticks, after the firm discovered a glitch in its DataTraveler Secure flash drives.

The company said in a security notice that the models affected were “privacy” editions of the DataTraveler Secure, DataTraveler Elite and DataTraveler Blackbox.

Kingston said the security flaw could allow a wrongdoer to hack into the memory sticks. “A skilled person with the proper tools and physical access to the drives may be able to gain unauthorised access to data,” warned the vendor.

Kingston added that a number of its USB drives were not affected by the security flaw.

Customers whose drives could be exploited by the security loophole should return the product, where Kingston said it would apply a factory update.

Kingston had claimed that its Data Traveler Secure drive was the first of its kind to protect “100 percent of data on-the-fly via 256-bit hardware-based AES encrpytion.”

Hi.
Thank you for all your support and security updates for my two Surface RTs.
They?re great and I don?t want to see them go.  A quick aside? It would be nice for my two Surface RTs and me, if Microsoft had a change of heart and decided to port Windows 10 RT with Office RT for Surface RT and get a few
more years support.  Anyway.
Today one of my Surface RT 8.1 provided the option on shut down, to update and restart, which I did.
It said it was installing 4 updates.  When rebooted, I went to view update history and found two failed updates and three successful ones for a total of five.
The first one in the list that failed is this one here below.

Then to get more information, I clicked the link shown there for 4048958 to learn more.
That took me to the Microsoft Security Update Guide, where I searched for 4048958 and was provide two links for RT 8.1.
Both links, one for IE11 and one for RT 8.1, go to the KB 4048958 article, which says to get more information, go to the Security Update Guide, which of course takes one back to the KB.
Not very informative loop I guess.
The second update that is on the list above showing as failed, is the one for Adobe to prevent remote code execution.
When I am in Windows Update and double-click the failed entry for Adobe, and then click the link for more information, it takes me to a URL that does not show a KB number and provides a link for more i... Read more

Do NOT install the recommended updates. M$ has secretly hidden an nVIDIA driver there. None of the recommended updates' details say ANYTHING about any of them being a display driver or driver for that matter. After a restart, it even went as far as turning DSR on GLOBALLY (2.00x) and after trying to uninstall the driver and everything with it (physx, 3D etc) the end result was nothing named nVIDIA was in add/remove or Revo Uninstaller.

I did a Clean Custom Install (driver and PhysX only) of the same driver and the proper entries are installed and showing in add/remove.

I have not had a single graphics driver appear in Windows Update until today. Something really freaking fishy is going on. I am running Windows 8.1.

Right. Quick explanation.

Tried to watch Salad Fingers this morning. It is a flash-movie. Loaded okay, I hit play, there was no sound and it froze after two seconds, leaving me with Salad Fingers' pretty face grinning at me.

Tried to see the trailer for WALL-E before I went to see it, on YouTube. Froze after two seconds, no sound. Can "play" the video by moving the slider, but it comes out stocky and is extremely awkward, also no sound.

Tried to show my little brother he could make a robot on the WALL-E page in a game that uses Adobe Flash Player. There was no sound.

And so the only thing in common with these are, to me, that they all use Adobe Flash Player. I tried reinstalling, and it worked, momentarily.

Now what?

Using Firefox 3 on Vista.

Hi, welcome to TSF

What browser are you using? Have you tried any other browsers?

Which sites are you having trouble with? Are there any websites where the videos work properly?

Do you get an error message when you try to watch a video?

Do you see the video controls and a black area where the picture should be, or is there an icon in the middle of the player?

Check your browser settings, firewall options and browser addons to see if anything is blocking java or scripts.

Hey everyone,

I recently installed a RTM Windows 7 Pro on my laptop (upgraded from XP), and now I'm starting to run into a little browser issues involving Adobe Flash.

Youtube, and other video sites seem to work just fine, but for some odd reason, a couple sites, such as Kotaku.com, always initiates some random Adobe Flash 9 "where is the debugger or host application running?" popup error. The real annoyance is however, that this message pops up repeatedly for maybe 8-10 times before this second error log message is displayed. I have no idea what this message even means.

I noticed there is a new Adobe Flash 10 version out, as well as Shockwave 11, and have installed both, but in my Firefox's browser plugin menu, Shockwave Flash is still listed as version 9... Is there a way to completely remove this?

Thanks for any guidance you can provide!

Had newer version of adobe flash player in updated on 11/15/14, up and running. Yesterday 11/22/14 tried to watch a video and got message "video needs adobe flash player to see". Saw it was there and updated on date mentioned. Went to Adobe site did as suggested, regarding safety and zone settings to enable. Uninstalled the updated flash player. Attempted to reinstall and can not get past run and or save.
Screen shot says installer is running, but nothing is happening. Try to close and nothing happens. Resort to task manager to end application and several clicks later get error message saying page can not be found. then finally it allows end task.
Before posting looked to see if this was a "common" occurrence and found several c/o same problem. Any way to reinstall flash player to adobe 15 again? Rather tiresome switching from IE11 to chrome to watch sport highlight films supported by adobe flash.
Thanks for help!

How did you try to uninstall Flash? The best way is to use the Flash uninstall tool at the Adobe website.

In the past I have accepted Adobe requests to update the Flash Player with no problem. Now I get a security notice that states my "current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded". I am no sure is this message is coming from Windows or Norton. Anyone else run into this?

A:Adobe Flash Player Update Security Notice

DPitts, welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

This is most likely Norton blocking the download. You need to go into Norton & allow this Adobe update.

Dell XPS 420 running Vista and IE9. On IE9 startup and each new page I get an IE Security warning: "A Website wants to open web content using this program on your computer.
This program will open outside of Protected mode.....
Name: Adobe Flash Player
Publisher: Adobe Systems INC
(then the following buttons) Allow Don't allow"

To close the box I must click on "don't allow". Then I am fine untill I click on another item, and get the same message. Checking the "don't show me the warning for this program again" is ignored by IE. For example, on this site while looking for a thread about this problem each time I open a new thread or go back I get the same message. I found a thread started on 9 Aug, 2010 by suhjonathan97 (and another user) that described my exact problem but the thread expired without an anwser. I ran avira, no virus detected. Tried a restore from yesterday no help. Oh yeah, when I start IE the warning comes up while IE is trying to connect to the internet, have to click "don't allow" to finish IE start.

Adobe Fixes Flash Zero-Day with Massive Security Update (dated June 11, 2010).

"Adobe's Flash update today contains a staggering 32 bug fixes, eerily reminiscent of Apple's massive update. It's been a busy couple of weeks for overworked security teams everywhere," agrees Andrew Storms, director of security operations for nCircle, adding "It sure looks like Adobe is the new Microsoft--the place where security researchers love to find new bugs."

Security Bulletin: Security update available for Adobe Flash Player.

Adobe recommends users of Adobe Flash Player 10.0.45.2 and earlier versions update to Adobe Flash Player 10.1.53.64. Adobe recommends users of Adobe AIR 1.5.3.9130 and earlier versions update to Adobe AIR 2.0.2.12610.

This has been going on for a few months now, and it's quite irritating since I develop flash games / applications. It started around the time I updated ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite to version 9.1.008.000; I've read elsewhere that version 8 and above doesn't play well with some applications (ie. Sandboxie), and I don't have any idea what changes, aside from them using Kaspersky's virus scanner, that have been made to it, or what it hooks. Any help is appreciated.

A:Issues with adobe flash reading/writing SharedObjects

You may want to try Microsoft Security Essentials, I switched from Kaspersky about a month ago and am pleased. Kaspersky did a very good job no complaints what soever but a free full suite from MS was to tempting!http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

If I did lower the activex prompts in internet options, it just hangs at the installing screen after I click install. What is this all about?

Is there something that specifically uses flash that I could test to see if it is working, to isolate if it is just gametrailers videos?

For instance, I can play videos on youtube.

A:Adobe flash player will not install properly, having issues

Just a suggestion, but a concise explanation of the issue at hand gets more response than links to two other forums to read through...

What version of IE? In IE6, click tools, manage add-ons. If flash player is present and not disabled, you might uninstall all versions of flash player in add-remove programs, repair the IE installation, clear all temp files and cookies with Cleanup! (backup first, or run demo mode first...) or another such application, reboot, and try the Flash installation with activeX blocking, AV and firewall disabled.

Some other active process may also be interfering...a clean boot might be a thought.
