T 530 Ethernet jack not working

Q: T 530 Ethernet jack not working

Hi, I've got a Thinkpad T530 type 2359 that the ethernet jack on the dock suddenly stopped working a couple weeks ago.Today I tried the port on the laptop itself, tried another port in my switch (which had network connection to my printer), a different (working) cable, updating the driver, still no sign of connectivity.Does anyone have further suggestions or ideas? From other forums i've looked seems like if it's out of warranty (which it is) you're basically SOL. Seems odd to me that both the native jack and the dock jack wouldn't work though.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Docking station is an extension of laptop. If a LAN network card got damaged, then dock port will also stop working. At this point you need to find, if dock is damaged or motherboard in your laptop. You need either other laptop with compatible docking port or second docking station, which ethernet port is known to work. Ask your friends, maybe someone have one of them.

I had to have the hard drive replaced in my computer due to a defect in the drive. Ever since the hard drive was replaced, the head phone plug-in that is on the face of the tower does not work, but the speaker plug-in that is located in the back of the tower, works just fine.

I cannot figure out what is wrong. The audio driver installed for my system was obtained from the Dell website along with the majority of my other drivers.
Any help would be great.

If you have the same ethernet slot as shown below, you will need to push the other half of the ethernet door downwards using the ethernet cable and let it slide inside the ethernet port.

I work in a small office that is currently contracting outside help for a large project. This presents the problem of more computers, same amount of resources. The problem is that I and a coworker work at adjacent desks and there is only one Ethernet jack available for both of us. We both need to use the internet simultaneously but as it is we have to keep switching the cables and it is incredibly frustrating! Both of our computers are desktops without wireless capabilities, running on Windows Vista.

I've been reading online, and I know that a splitter will be of no help. Would a hub be sufficient or do we need a router? Is there another solution to this problem?

Thanks!

You should be able to use a network switch or router,
But you must make sure DHCP is diabled as it will

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Come back here and Paste the results in a message.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

My Dell inspiron 3542 laptop speakers are not working, but 3.5 mm jack is working fine.
Please help me out.

A:My Dell inspiron 3542 laptop speakers are not working, but 3.5 mm jack is working fine.

Hello. The problem could be either in the hardware or the software, so you need to test each. Perform the tests below -- it doesn't matter which one you do first.

To test the speakers, perform the Quick Audio Check in the ePSA test. If the speakers fail the test then they have failed or become disconnected. (Click the link for instructions on how to run the test.)

To test the software, switch between the Realtek audio driver and the Windows native driver. [This test assumes that your laptop has the Realtek audio driver. If you get to step 2 and do not see "Realtek High Definition Audio" then go to the Dell support page for your model and download the Realtek driver that Dell provides for the version of Windows that the laptop is running.]
1. Open the Device Manager (find it in the Control Panel, or type devmgmt.msc into the search box).2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".3. Select to "Update Driver Software".4. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".5. Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".6. Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked.7. In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" (the native driver).8. Click "Next".9. On the Update Driver Warning box, click "Yes" (install the driver). 10. Restart the laptop if prompted. If not prompted,... Read more

Hi,

I have a dual boot of Fedora and Windows, and when I boot into Fedora, my headphones work fine. When I boot into Windows 7 64bit, my headphones don't work. My laptop speakers work fine however, and I tried re-installing drivers. I made sure that my headphones are the default playback device, and I only have one headphone jack.

Other people who had this issue solved it by replacing their audio jack, but for me that is not a problem because the audio jack works fine when I boot into Fedora.

Please help!

Janac

A:Laptop speakers working, but headphone jack not working only on Window

Normally, the "Speakers" (PC sound) is set as the Default Playback device and not Headphones. In fact, newer RealTek sound systems do not even show the Headphones when plugged in.

Are you using the correct sound drivers? Not the generic Windows installed High Definition Audio Codec.

What all is listed in the Device Manager, Sound section?

Test your mic with the Windows Sound Recorder and see if it works OK there. If not, test your mic on a friend's PC and see if it works.

If it works OK with the Windows Sound Recorder, it is probably something in the gaming software or setup.

A:rear pc mic jack not working?

Please fill out your system specs, so that we have an idea of what hardware you have. It's much easier to help that way.

It's probably a setting in your audio driver control panel. Do you have front audio ports with a mic plugged in to them? Sometimes doing that will shut off the rear ones.

A little more detail is needed for a better answer. Sorry.

First try another set of earplugs just to be sure it is the connector inside the laptop that is broken and not the headset. If the 2nd set makes no sound then you have two choices: disassemble the laptop, desolder the jack and solder in a new one or buy a USB sound card and plug the headset into it. example of a USB sound card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829128004&ignorebbr=1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829118008&ignorebbr=1

I play on a gaming PC so always I use the headset I have to play with others. Before I would have to twist the two plugs (headphones+mic) a bit in order for me to get the message "You have plugged in a headset". Now after switching Power supplies I don't get that message whatsoever. It seems as if those jacks as well as the ones on the back don't work and do not respond. I can't set my headset sound device as my default because it says my headset isn't plugged in. I've tried this for multiple headsets and speakers and have gotten the same results. The USB Jack is fine just those small circle hole jacks that you are supposed to plug in for headsets and speakers. Same Jack like the one on the iPhone. It is recommended to fill out your system specs. I have no idea what your system is or what audio driver/manager you are using.

If you have a realtek HD audio card- Install the audio manager, and set it to allow setting to pop up when jacks are used. That way you can tell it if you inserting headphones, mic, etc, and it will mute the external speakers and use the headphones-otherwise it plays out the speakers (this is common if you have a realtek card, and use the default Microsoft hd sound driver/software codecs. You may also note the "volume knob" does not work)

If you have a realtek card install the realtek driver/audio manager here:http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

Well, I have a new computer. And I recently bought a Headset & Microphone, to play games with. It was all working perfect, until my brother plugged in the Headset plug, into the microphone port. And I disconnected it because it was wrong. Then, when I went to plug it into the Headset Port, it wouldn't read.

I've checked the headset to see if it was the plug, but it wasn't. I opened my computer to check if the connections to the port are okay, and they are. I believe it might be a software issue, but not sure as to what to do now.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to read my topic, and hopefuly reply.

Earlier today, I was on my laptop, and I closed the lid, headphones plugged in and working, operating perfectly fine, and locked the door behind me.

In no less then 2 minutes I returned, and the computer acted as if the headphones were not plugged in at all, playing from the built in speakers. I tried different pairs of headphones, all don't work, and I see no visible problems with any of them, I've checked them over multiple times for tears, exposed wires, and the like.

I think it may be something with the headphone jack itself internally, but frankly I know nothing about how the computer is built, so I wouldn't know.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this, thank you in advance.

Just to verify, do you get a pop-up notification whenever you plugged-in a headphone / earphone?

If yes then your issue is most likely similar to this article. As per these specs, the Y50 uses an audio combo jack (headphone and mic). Although this port supports various mobile headphones, you may need to get a PC Headset to 3.5mm Smartphone Adapter if you're using a traditional headset with a separate.audio and mic connector.

A:Headphone Jack Not Working?

If your using vista, play around the the settings in the control panel under the sound tab.
At least that fixed my problem.

A few hours my headset mic stopped working on my computer and stopped picking up sound from me. It wasn't the mic's problem as it worked on another pc but not mine and was not working with Skype or any recording program. I have uninstalled the ITD Driver, loaded defaults, enabled the device and checked the volume settings with nothing fixing this problem. I am on a HP Pavilion DV7 Laptop running Windows 7 64 bit. The weird part about this is that my mic was working fine a few hours ago and then when I decided to use it again it just stopped. When I go to sound options and try to put in the headset jack in the side, the green bars light up to show that the jack is inserted, but when I talk it takes in nothing. I have tried almost everything including restoring the system to an earlier date and at this point have no idea what to do.

Help is greatly appreciate thank you!

A:Headset Mic Jack not working

Some things to check... 1. Doesn't your laptop have a built in mic? If so, see if that works. That may help narrow things down as to whether it is all audio inputs not working or just your headset input 2. Check Control Panel Device Manager to make sure you don't have any yellow exclamation points indicating a driver not installed correctly. 3. Check Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Sound, Manage audio devices, to make sure the correct device is showing up, selected, and configured.

Since  "Sound"  did recognize my headphones when plugged in, I changed it to the default and it played through the headphones and cut the sound from the speakers.  When I unplugged the headphones, the sound went back to the speakers.  Yay!!  thank you all for the help.

My Desktop Dell Inspiron 3650  purchased in October 2016 and I can't use Skype on it.
I can hear the other end but they could not hear me. Many a times I consulted with the representative Dell online and always they understood that my head phone is not working.
Actually the audio port at the back is not working. I never used its audio port.
Now I want to solve this issue as early as possible.
Thanks
