I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Right after re-installing Windows 8 on a Lenovo G510, I updated the BIOS to version 79CN50WW (V3.09) with the file which is available on this website. Unfortunately, the update crashed right in the middle of the process and leaves me with a broken BIOS. After booting the notebook, I get the following messages: lenovo logo"EFI Nentwork 0 for IPv4 (F8-A9-63-33-28-09)" with an [OK]-Button. If I hit OK, I'll get..."No bootable device -- Please restart system"If I restart the system, I'll see the following messages: lenovo logo"EFI Nentwork 0 for IPv4 (F8-A9-63-33-28-09)" with an [OK]-Button. If I hit OK, I'll get..."Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed.Insert Recovery Media and Hit any keyThen Select 'Boot Manager' to choose a new Boot Device or to Boot Recovery Media"If I hit [OK] again, the Boot Manager shows up with a list which has two entries which are:EFI Network 0 for IPv4 (F8-A9-63-33-28-09)EFI Network 0 for IPv6 (F8-A9-63-33-28-09)Whatever option I choose from these both, nothing changes. How can I recover the (previous) BIOS or get the notebook to work again properly?

So I tried updating the BIOS on my Lenovo M92p desktop using Lenovo System Update program. Unfortunately, it didnt work and i ended up with a blank screen. I waited for about 10 minutes and still nothing happened. I decided to hold the power button and had it shut off. After multiple power ons, still no POST. I read the HMM and the section about BIOS boot block recovery. It said I needed to burn an iso file to a CD and also move the CMOS jumper to pins 2 & 3. Since I dont have a cd, I put the bios flash package on a usb drive instead, plugged it into pc, and also moved CMOS jumper to 2 & 3. Computer turns on and there are two beeps. No display. Does this mean I will have to get a CD?

Hey guys, so I've gotten myself in a bit of a pickle. Ok, long story short, the hard drive in my Lenovo Y50 crashed and started doing the click of death.  Fed up with dealing with Western Digital, I said "screw it" and drove to the nearest computer store and bought a Kingston 480GB SSD (Which I am LOVING so far). However, because the size of the drive was smaller, my recovery USB refused to restore the operating system, so I had to borrow my friends computer, download the media creation tool and do a clean install of Windows 10 that way. Everything was totally fine, then I remembered I had forgotten something really important. Every single back up I've ever done was with Lenovo Onekey Recovery. A program that I did not have anymore. So obviously my next course of action was to get a recovery key from Lenovo. I called the number, explained the situation, and they sent me the key that I got in the mail today. I plugged it in expecting the rest of the road to be filled with puppies and rainbows... but it's not looking that way. Going into BIOS, it does not see the Lenovo Recovery key as a boot option. I've since made my own clean windows 10 recovery drive than can be booted into fine, but it doesnt recognize the lenovo drive as a bootable UEFI device either. Furthermore, it doesn't matter if I set BIOS to UEFI or Legacy Support... it still doesn't recognize the drive either way. The guy on the phone told me he'd have to send me a windows 8.1 key, si... The disk that was sent to me is a USB written in Universal Disk Format - never seen this format before. It was uninitialized so i considered trying to activate it in a few ways, through diskpart in windows, and also by cloning via linux and adding boot flags to the partition it was written to. No luck, though. I'm reluctant to do much more, considering I paid money for this drive; what gives? How does one use this mysterious little drive?

On the Lenovo Onekey Recovery, I selected the option to restore system partition to its initial status. Now I'm not sure what this does exactly, but it then asked for what language I wanted to use and then username and password. And before I could type in anything, the screen turn black and no matter what I did, it wouldn't budge from there. Now I don't know if I accidentally removed windows and I don't know how to get it back. Does anyone know what options I have?

To make a long story short, I've been asked to help fix a friends mom's U410 laptop which wasnt activiting Windows 8.1 properly (Was Windows 8 OOB). After struggling with the activation for a few hours, I backed up the data and decided to just run the Lenovo one key recovery. During the recovery process, the installation had failed. When I attemped to reboot, no Lenovo splash screen was loading - just a black screen (although i can hear the cooling fan start, and hear the harddrive spin up. I tried to access the boot menu thru the novo button, and nothing would load; still a black screen. After researching for a few more hours, I had found multiple threads about bios updates required to be able to access bios with windows 8, and other threads about gpus on these units booting to a second screen (which i did test, and the second monitor does indicate a signal). None of the solutions on those threads have given positive results.   Basically, I've run out of options and am looking for some suggestions. The only thing that shows up on the display at anytime is the small blue novo menu when the button is pressed (normal start up, bios setup, boot menu, system recovery - all of which just leave a black screen). Thanks.

I know a BIOS update on my Latitude with Windows 8 and Bitlocker activated on the O/S drive triggers Bit locker recovery on startup. I don't have the recovery key and so am stuck. How to recover without the Bit Locker recovery key?

A:BIOS update without suspending Bitlocker has triggered a recovery and on start up I am prompted for the recovery key

The solution I found was to install the previous version of the BIOS, but without being able to boot into Windows, I needed to install the previous version of the BIOS in DOS. Some server products provide a F12 boot up menu option to roll back a BIOS update, but this is not available in my Latitude.

I downloaded the correct BIOS version (the additional info section made specific reference to it being installable from Windows or DOS). I prepared a bootable USB key (to a dos prompt) and copied the bios installer executable to the memory stick.

Because secure boot (UEFI) is enabled, it is not possible to boot up from USB key, so legacy boot mode needs to be enabled. There were 3 settings that required changing in the BIOS before I was able to boot from the USB key.

Once I was able to boot into DOS from the USB key and got to the DOS prompt, I ran the BIOS update exe. The laptop rebooted, installed the previous BIOS version and then rebooted again. I pressed F2 to get into the BIOS and changed back the settings as they were (secure boot UEFI). I then managed to boot into windows without being prompted for the Bit locker recovery key.

You able to export or view the Bitlocker recovery key by going to Control Panel -> Security -> Bit locker Management, and temporarily suspend protection (until the next reboot). It is possible to run a commandlet to specify the number of reboots bit locker should be suspended for.

You may find that installing the previous version of the ... Read more

Hello my friends ! A time ago i bouhgt two Lenovo ideapad 100 14 IBY (FreeDos Version) and install Windows 10 on it with UEFI and GPT Partition Table. All works fine until i want to play around with Linux and install UBUNTU Mate in UEFI on one of them. The install was easy but the Performance on Ubuntu with Bay Trail and the don't working Bluetooth was a reason to switch back to Windows 10. After that the Problem beginns. The Bios don't let me save changes anymore (only time and date !). There was no UEFI ESP and GPT Support since i install UBUNTU and the Bios Menu looks like that:Bios Entries on a blank DiskBootingThe Disk is Blank there is no ubuntu on there (Don't know waht the EFI Entries are no Hardware is connected). And when I boot also go to Network Boot there.(No Matter a USB Stick is connected). So what i did: # I Dismantle it and disconnect Battery and Cell and wait half an hour. # Nothing changes !# I change the HDD. # Nothing changes !# Reflash the BIOS by edit the plattform.ini - CheckByBios=1 - Error Cannot mount EFI Partition. # Nothing changes !# Install Windows 10 - Make mbr2gpt.exe and bcdedit and bootrec. # Nothing changes ! I can install and run Windows 10 in MBR and BIOS Mode on it. But no USB Stick was displayed in Boot Menu. So now Iam on my Limit and the Question is there a way to put UEFI and GPT back on it or does the BIOS locked in this State. For me UEFI is MALEWARE so why can a simple UBUNTU damaged my BIOS and ... HI, Please skip to paragraph six for the actual issue I am having--the preceding paragraphs include info that may help to identify how to fix this. I am posting this using my HP desktop running Windows 7 as my Lenovo Ideapad 110 cannot connect to internet as explained below: Firstly, Sorry if I am breaking community guidelines in any way with this post. I did multiple searches but only came up with "forgot my BIOS password-how can I reset it" type posts. I am looking for urgent help to get back into the "BIOS" of my Lenovo IdeaPad 110 running preinstalled Windows 10. Everything was running fine until yesterday. This is when I made the mistake of thinking I knew more about the system than I actually seem to lol :/ So, yesterday--I entered the "BIOS" screen upon startup using F2 (function key+F2). I went on to disable wireless connection ability (to test something unrelated), and also switched Boot from strait UEFI boot mode to legacy/UEFI boot-with UEFI being the default boot option.  I don't know if any of the above have to do with the issue I am now having but I wanted to share it just in case. Here is the real issue as of now: Also yesterday at the same time while in "BIOS", I also went on to set an "admin password", the one you must type in before you can even get to the lenovo splash screen to enter "BIOS". Basically I believe this is referred to as a POST password although I am not an expert cleary (hence asking for the experts' he... Read more

A few days ago I had some problems with my HDD so I brought a new one.  To install Windows in the new drive I plugged in the DVD drive that Lenovo ships with the laptop and tried to boot from it. That failed and BIOS got like "programmed" or stuck with configurations that doesn't let it recognise any boot media no matter if it is a USB stick or HDD, no matter if I try to change the configuration of the BIOS it would always get back to the initial state of not being able to boot I even tried to reset it by unplugging its battery and the laptop battery but the only thing that happens is system time starting from 0 while any other configuration stays the same.  I thought this could be fixed using crisis recovery mode, but the laptop doesn't recognise the BIOS loaded on the USB and never make any sort of beep or alert noises, the screen doesn't show anything either and fans just get to 100% I really need help to solve this problem, it's like the BIOS got stuck in the last configurations before plugging the DVD drive in. (The Boot menu still showing that there's a USB booteable device even when it is not plugged in).

Hello everyone! I ama new user and i am coming up with this post as I couldn`t find any kind of solution for my problem.Recently I decided to do a reinstallation of my operating system, which also previously was Windows 7 Ultimate (x64). The installation went as usual, and after finishing it I went on to install all the latest drivers from the Lenovo site, for my product. When getting close to installing almost all the drivers i`ve needed, i stumbled upon a new version of the BIOS amnd the drivers and sfotware recommended for my laptop, by the producer. So i proceeded to install the upgrade, restarted the computer when it prompted me to do so, but after the so-called restart the laptop did not boot up as usual. At first it was telling me to not do anything as the BIOS is being flashed and then it was telling me something about some sort of image processing, things that i did not understand at the time (i have never encountered anything like that). After that my screen turned black. I have not done anything for a few couple of minutes as i thought it was supposed to be like that, but then i just force shut it down and unplugged the AC adapter. When trying to boot it all up again, the only thing i got was a black screen and nothing else. After doing a little bit of research it appears that, somehowm i`ve managed to corrupt the bios on my laptop or something, and nothing else would work at this point. I tried to remove the BIOS battery and the ram and then put them all back, trye... Read more

Hi. I have a Lenovo B50-30 mode 80ES. It was set to require a password on startup starting with a capital "A". While experiencing charging problems, amongst other things, I updated the BIOS to 9CCN35WW, downloaded from the Lenovo support site. Since updating, the laptop no longer asks for a password on startup (No big deal, I applied a windows password), however, when pressing F2 to access the BIOS (which I need to do, the F keys are the wrong way round), it asks for a password, When pressing to strike a capital A, the laptop beeps and doesnt enter it. It wont accept capital letters anymore, therefore it wont accept the pre BIOS update password. I have referred the laptop to Lenovo service, including returning the laptop, and they have been nothing short of useless. They said they couldnt repair it under warranty because of "Marks, cracks, inappropriate treatment" and it would cost £255 for a replacement system board. I really couldnt see why I should pay for an issue created by their support system, so I asked them to return it unrepaired. Upon arrival, the laptop was immaculate, so I dont know what damage they were referring to. Is it possible to downgrade the BIOS to a pre update revision, to change the password and then reset it to one the new BIOS approves of? Thankyou in advance.

Hello, i have a really annoying problem: Everytime i start my laptop, it wont boot up. The capslock button is blinking twice so i guess the bios is damaged. First i checked if there is a update for my bios on you driver/software download page but there isnt. So afterward i tried to recover and reinstall my bios but i cant even enter the bios update menu.In the bios recovery manual http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833 it says:With the computer off, press and hold the Windows logo key and the B key at the same time.Still pressing those keys, press and hold down the Power button on the computer for 1 to 2 seconds, and then release the Power button but continue to hold the Windows and B keys until the BIOS update screen is displayed or until you hear a beeping sound (usually 8 beeps). But this isnt working. It only blinks twice continiously but wont boot. Can anyone help me? I cant find further information regarding this issue. I start to get really really annoyed by the problem because sometimes it takes up to 15-20 times to get the laptop running. Best Regards

I'm a new owner of a Flex 4-1570 Ideapad. I have a critical update awaiting install, however the window popup says it is for the YOGA not the Flex. Thus, I have not installed it. My question is, should I install it? If not, how do I turn the notification off? Thanks!

I’m having a problem with my Lenovo S10 Netbook type 4333-36U, model llG3G,
IC: 1787B-94312G3507G. I’m running Windows XP Home Edition which was on this computer when I bought it.

I will explain my problem and then include some information from the Device Manager.

I have used Lenovo One Key Recovery and made DVD copies of my system. Using just the Lenovo S10 netbook screen when I boot to recover my computer I cannot see the “Next” button to continue the recovery process.

If I add a separate 19” monitor I am able to see the “Next” button and complete the recovery process.

I’ve tried changing the video setting to no avail. I’ll attempt to explain what I’ve found.

My netbook video setting is 1024X576 and Highest (32bit). I cannot change it to anything else.

There are two options:

1. Plug and Play Monitor on Mobile Intel® 945 Express Chipset Family
2. (Default Monitor) on Mobile Intel® 945 Express Chipset Family

When using #2 I can make changes to the resolutions but they always return to 640X480 and Low(8bit).
When using #1 I cannot make any changes at all.

When I exit out and go back in it is always set to #1.

In Device Manager under Display adapters are two identical listings:

Mobile Intel® 945 Express Chipset Family
When I check the properties each has a different location.

PCI bus 0, device 2, function 0
PCI bus 0, device 2, function l

Again, in Device Manager under Monitors are three identical listings:

Plug and Play Monitor.

I repeat my problem ... Read more

A:XP and One Key Recovery on Lenovo

I have quite a few lenovo/ibm computers and the one key recovery feature wont even work on windows xp.It is only for vista and windows 7 operating systems. All of my brand new lenovos had the one key recovery feature but they came with windows 7.Secondly windows xp doesnt come on a dvd only a cd.Your computer specs are confusing as the lenovo isnt even listed in there. You need to go to the lenovo website for that model of computer and download and install all of the correct drivers for it if you need the xp ones.Look under support drivers and downloads and you should find them.On older lenovos/ibm computers there is a feature called rescue and recovery but thats only for certain models with xp.At this point since the screen is messed up you need the graphics, chipset, and video drivers so you can even see what you are doing.

Hi  niko10 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The OneKey Recovery system is not installed on some models (page23 user guide).
Would you have the machine number for checking . Check on the machine number from the sticker or check it from here ,just keep your serial number confidential.

Did you manage to use the One Key Recovery features before?
OKR is backup image preloaded on the harddrive's hidden partition , any formatting , change in partition would cause it to fail. You may check it manually using disk management .

Update us as soon as convenient.

Regards
