I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello.

Recently I recieved by mail my brother's laptop to fix, since I`m the "smart" guy inthe family everyone is pushing me with IT or Electronic choirs...anyway, it`s not why I`m here. The laptop has a broken screen, I tried to attach the laptop to another monitor via VGA but didn`t wor, no image at all. So I`m wondering if the mainboard is bustedm since I don`t know if I should order a new display for it or just toss it in the garbage can. The colored leds are on when I start it, no booting sound, but the HDD is working, so is the dvd-rw, I mean it takes commands, all the buttons work, I mean restart and power.is there a chance that the mainboard is bustend and I still have power on cpu/optical device/storage?

Thanks for the answer

My wife's laptop is acting crazy. It's been working fine, then the other night the screen starting blinking and became unreadable. It would just blink a ton and flash on and off. She took it in the next day to her work to the tech guys there and it worked fine. Today the same issue. I was able to get it to start in Safe Mode and it works just fine. Trying to start in regular mode it starts out just fine, then goes to blinking/flashing, etc.

Any ideas? Sorry I can't give more details, but that is as good a description as I can give!

Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. By default the ip address should be set to 10.0.0.138.Click to expand...

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default both the username and password are root. Click the Ok button to log in to your router. Click to expand...

...it says, but 10.0.0.138 doesnt work, I did search a bit with google about it but found nothing certain.

Hello my name is Gringoyle

Let me start from the very begining, I was play Ever Quest 2 when my key board started acting up i found that it was my mouse, when my mouce was in movement the keyboard was inop so if was to use the (W,A,D,S) keys to navigate than use the mouce to move the cursor i would stop movment.

So I decided to test the mouce in safe mode, I and made a big mistake by using msconfig to do so. Well it started an endless loop of chrashing when windows would boot causing the loop to start over. I can however use F8 still which i did to to try and repair my system, it recommended that I use the recovery, that had failed. I than used the F8 last knowen good configuration option to start windows and I am running again, I than when to change the settings in msconfig i had made but i am unable to. When in msconfig under the general tab the "Selective Startup" is selected, under the boot tab the options are normal, safe mode is not selected. However if I select the Normal Startup option under the general tab the safe mode box becomes check under the boot tab and if I uncheck the safe boot box, the Selective Startup option is than selected again under the general tab.

And my dang mouce is still causing the keyboard to be inop when in use.

Thank for any advice you fellas can offer me,

IN the Command Prompt type ipconfig /release and press enter. the IP Address changes to 0.0.0.0 Now type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter. Now type ipconfig /renew. Now type ipconfig /all. A:Need the reset for password on Latitude C400, bios revision A06, original password.?

You'll need to call Dell with verification of ownership -- it may not be worth it though, since the call will cost about $60, which is probably about six times more than the entire system is worth.
The other option is to replace the mainboard - which is probably well under $60.

Hi- I have been slowly struggling with a password issue with my Ideapad U530 over the last few months.  The problem is, when I try to acces the BIOS via the Novo button, I am asked for a "system password". However, I did NOT set this password, so I cannot access the BIOS. In terms of other passwords, such as Windows User/Admin, and boot, there is no problem. The only unique thing that I have done with this machine which I could think of the <might> be related to the BIOS password issue, is that I used the Novo button to access the built-in restore tool (I forget what Lenovo calls it exaclty, but it is a system restore application), and I told the machine to re-image itself back to the built-in, out-of-box image. This process worked fine, though, and logic would tell me that this c/would <not> affect the BIOS. Has anyone else run into this issue? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for reading and/or replying. -Chris p.s. - USB booting appears to be disabled. Actually, that was why I first tried to access the BIOS ...to enable USB booting. So, my ability to troubleshoot may be heavily limited by my inability to boot to the internal hybrid HD. p.p.s - the machine is under warranty until September of this year. I've spoken twice with Lenovo support, who were unable to help me. They mentioned the possibility of removing the SMOC battery, though I believe that this will not work since it is the year 2015. A:unknown "system password" (aka BIOS password) on Ideapad U530

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry to hear of your problems.  With a laptop, removing the battery will not clear a BIOS related password.  That only works with desktop models.  Unfortunately forum rules prohibit further discussion on how to circumvent the BIOS password.  This is due to the ease in which laptops can be stolen.  I would suggest contacting Best Buy again and see if they can further assist you especially if the laptop you purchase had been a floor display.  Otherwise the only remedy to the password problem would be to replace the motherboard.

Hello all,

I hope I can get some help / guidance from some one with more experience with the M400 if possible?!

I reinstalled the OS and setup the biometric security for me, which has worked flawlessly! However I stupidly also set up the boot up security (BIOS Password). So when the tablet gets turned on I can scan my finger and get in without any issues, however I now want to turn the boot up security off. So I booted it in to the OS and went to disable it....however it asks for my password....which I have forgot as I have been a typical end user and have been only using my bloody finger!

Does anyone know if I can disable the BIOS security while in the OS using the biomentric security rather than entering a password? I have tried just changing the admin password within the win OS but that doesn't work....any ideas?

Any help with be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

I'm having a problem with a Toshiba Satellite L300D. After I reinstalled the HDD it would beep. To solve this I went into BIOS to look and see if the board had some sort of intrusion setting. When I exited the BIOS and restarted I know get the Enter Current Password (with a blue background on a black screen) with continuos beeps. The thing is it seems to auto enter in 10 characters (*) and then stop. There are no other options.

I have searched unsuccessfully for any info about this and I cant even find where the CMOS is located which I think is soldered onto the board.

Hello, Problem 1:I've set the supervisor password some time ago on my T450s. I think I used the special character "!" which was accepted at that time, but I'm not sure anymore today. Now after severeal BIOS updates the "!" only leads to a beep of the system and I also tried all of my standard-passwords without "!" , but without success. Problem 2:Now I've tried to roll back to older BIOS versions to try if one of these accepts the "!". Hi. I have a Lenovo B50-30 mode 80ES. It was set to require a password on startup starting with a capital "A". While experiencing charging problems, amongst other things, I updated the BIOS to 9CCN35WW, downloaded from the Lenovo support site. Since updating, the laptop no longer asks for a password on startup (No big deal, I applied a windows password), however, when pressing F2 to access the BIOS (which I need to do, the F keys are the wrong way round), it asks for a password, When pressing to strike a capital A, the laptop beeps and doesnt enter it. It wont accept capital letters anymore, therefore it wont accept the pre BIOS update password. I have referred the laptop to Lenovo service, including returning the laptop, and they have been nothing short of useless. They said they couldnt repair it under warranty because of "Marks, cracks, inappropriate treatment" and it would cost 255 for a replacement system board. I really couldnt see why I should pay for an issue created by their support system, so I asked them to return it unrepaired. Upon arrival, the laptop was immaculate, so I dont know what damage they were referring to. Is it possible to downgrade the BIOS to a pre update revision, to change the password and then reset it to one the new BIOS approves of? Thankyou in advance.

Hi there -- As best i can remember, there was no restriction on BIOS access to my Yoga 710 until i created a BIOS user password for security. After a short while i decided to remove the user password, but found that i could not remove it without supplying an administrator password, which i never heard of before, did not set myself, and didn't need when setting the user password. (I have tried a factory reset by pressing the pinhole button, and this did not help.) Q: Why would an admin password not be needed to create a user password, but only needed to remove it? Does that sound like a bug? [Probabaly unimportant: the dialog box denying removal of user password and stating need for admin password did not ask for one; i guess it would be entered at boot instead of the user password?] [[Maybe-skippable details: I bought the unit returned-and resold-as-new from a large retail brick and mortor store. It's possible the previous owner set a BIOS admin password, and that the store and i didn't notice the restrictions on the BIOS -- but the situation cannot be that simple: I have replaced Windows on the unit with linux, and i believe i remember having full bios access to try different settings of secure boot etc when trying different versions of linux. It's possible i'm confusing this with another laptop, but again, this cannot be the explanation, because...]] Most important: Back before i set the user password, when i installed the linux i'm using on the uni... No laptops are supplied with ANY administrative passwords.  You need to enter the password twice for verification when you set it..  Why don't you try to enter the same password you set for the user password as the administrative password.  BTW, you can set an administrative/supervisor password on the BIOS which has nothing to do with an administrative password on the disk.

Can someone explain how to enter BIOS without entering Hard Drive Password set in the BIOS. I am assuming that if I set Hard Drive password to encrypt it, I should still be able to access BIOS, because I did not set BIOS password. I am assumining that if people forget the hard drive password, there must be a way to enter the BIOS, wipe the drive and start over. However that does not seem to be the case. If I don't enter the hard drive password correctly, the notebook shutsdown. I am wondering, how the security actually works. Is there any documentation explaining all the BIOS security features? I have X1 Extreme Gen2 Thanks

my guess is that your cmos battery died and it wants you to set day/time.  There is no backdoor password.  The choices are remember the PW or replace the motherboard.

I updated the bios after I had notified from Toshiba about the Bios v3.50. The process was done by the Toshiba Utility software, and after the reboot there is "Password =" on a blank screen and it not recognise my BIOS password, writing "Not certified".

I have also tried the HDD password but no luck.

What can I do now?

A:Satellite Z30-A-12R BIOS password not recognised after BIOS upgrade

Hi

Before trying to update the BIOS, all passwords should be removed!
BIOS password can be removed by authorized service provider available in your country.

But the unknown HDD password cannot be removed anymore.
In such case the HDD isn?t accessible and cannot be used.

Sorry mate but in my opinion you have only one chance to get the BIOS password removed; you need the ASP assistance.

Hello dear hp wizards! I have a weird problem. When I'm attempting to install the newest BIOS update thru HP Support Assistant, the installation program asks me for my BIOS password which doesn't work for some reason, but it works fine at startup when I access BIOS setup / update BIOS after I have to give the password there, it even gives me the happy "bleep bleep bleep bleep"- sound. I've never had this problem before.  Any ideas? kody

I need a way to update a bios that has a bios password set FROM windows remotely. Scenario:             I'm at my desk, a remote user is having a known issue related to a BIOS revision that is older. I need to update it but the user is not at my location. We cannot supply the user our BIOS password by policy. Prior to these new models, we could put the BIOS password into a box during the update; however, NOW we are forced to supply it on bootup. This is impossible without traveling to the users location. We had a case open with HP and they said "you need to script it" I need to know what that entails. We used to be able to use switches and whatnot with the bios update utility.....I don't see that ability now. Please provide guidance to remove temporarily the bios password remotely (known bios password it's not forgotten) and re-enable it after upgrade. re-cap,BIOS password is knownusers at remote locations require bios updatecannot provide users the passwordcannot physically travel to the user's locationneed it re-enabled after update.

A:BIOS Password "Enter CURRENT Password"

Hi: The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if this unlock passcode works...the next to the last character on the right is the number zero. e9lofvxn0z

A:Forgot administrator password and bios password

Hello perkymang, We are sorry as there is no master password or generator for EliteBooks or ProBooks. This is to inform you that all HP Business Notebooks such as Probooks  or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models infact they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial Number and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.  Please Contact HP Business Notebook support they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.                                    When talking to the HP rep ask them to escalate your service request.   Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again !!  **Click the White Thumbs Up Button on the right to say Thanks**Make it easier for other people to find solutions by marking a Reply 'Accept as Solution' if it solves your problem. Thank You,GBL84I am not an HP Employee
