I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I haven't done anything to my computer other than loading the initial software for a program called E-Trends(I know, I know...stupid).But recently the computer has been very slow, and programs/web pages have been delayed or stalling.Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1Scan saved at 4:51:09 PM, on 1/13/2007Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.5730.0011)Running processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exeC:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\guard.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\cisvc.exeC:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM\Binn\sqlservr.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Antivirus\Tmntsrv.exeC:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Antivirus\tmproxy.exeC:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SpySweeper.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exeC:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXEC:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Antivirus\pccguide.exeC:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Antivirus\PCClient.exeC:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Antivirus\TMOAgent.exeC:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SpySweeperUI.exeC:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exeC:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10\bin\jusched.exeC:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\avgas.exeC:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\wcescomm.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exeC:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~4\rapimgr.exeC:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SSU.EXEC:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXEC:\Program Files\Google\GoogleToolbarNotifier\1.2.908.5008\GoogleToolbarNotifier.exeC:\hijackthis\HijackThis.exeR1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.google.com/ieR1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.google.comR0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.yahoo.com/R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157R1" target="_blank" class="wLink">http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.google.com/ieR1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,Default_Search_URL = http://www.google.com/ieR0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.google.com/ieR1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://www.google.com/search?q=%sR1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = iexploreR1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = 168.94.74.68:8080O2 - BHO: Adobe PDF Reader Link Helper - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dllO2 - BHO: SSVHelper Class - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10\bin\ssv.dllO2 - BHO: Google Toolbar Helper - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - c:\program files\google\googletoolbar3.dllO3 - Toolbar: &Google - {2318C2B1-4965-11d4-9B18-009027A5CD4F} - c:\program files\google\googletoolbar3.dllO4 - HKLM\..\Run: [pccguide.exe] "C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Antivirus\pccguide.exe"O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PCClient.exe] "C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Antivirus\PCClient.exe"O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TM Outbreak Agent] "C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Antivirus\TMOAgent.exe" /runO4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SpySweeper] "C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SpySweeperUI.exe" /startintrayO4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottimeO4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10\bin\jusched.exe"O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [!AVG Anti-Spyware] "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\avgas.exe" /minimizedO4 - HKCU\..\Run: [H/PC Connection Agent] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\wcescomm.exe"O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [swg] C:\Program Files\Google\GoogleToolbarNotifier\1.0.720.3640\GoogleToolbarNotifier.exeO4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ctfmon.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exeO8 - Extra context menu item: E&xport to Microsoft Excel - res://C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~3\OFFICE11\EXCEL.EXE/3000O8 - Extra context menu item: Yahoo! I am sorry this will not be helpful. This computer is farily new and I like to think I have kept it clean but its performance lately has been pitiful. I think I have a virus b/c webpages take multiple attempts refreshes to load, startup applications are taking much longer to load, and simple tasks are taking entirely too long.

Please help get my machine healthy again.

For example, currently running a call on skype, and the CPU usage is nearing 95%. The main CPU users are skype, audiodg, and taskmg (since i'm using it to monitor the performance). It fluctuates from around 40% to 100% when nothing else is being done. Even the minimal load on the system causes tremendous drop in performance. Running new or old games with recommended system requirements way below the characteristics of this one, I experience severe lag and terrible framerate. Even half life 1 is lagging!

I tried going through msconfig startup and services in attempt to get rid of anything unnecessary but only the bare minimum is now running. Also the audio and video drivers were updated, that too did not lead to a visible performance increase.

What may be the cause of this?

Thank you.

I'd get the mfr to do the brain work, since your PC is still under warranty.

But you can install freeware Hijackthis, generate the diagnostic file and post the file at any one of the sites that specialize in the use of that app. Some computer wizard will soon identify the culprit.

Did you check the itemized memory usage under "Processes" tab in Task Manager...see if anything is gobbling up resources? You might get lucky and find a simple change in "Services" will fix the problem.

If I remember correctly, WinAudit (freeware) does a much better job of showing what is running on your system than Task Manager, and no installation is required (run WinAudit from Desktop or a thumb drive). MSConfig is a bare-bones program.

Another option is to restore your PC to the earliest date listed: you can always undo the restoration.

Yet another option is to enter BIOS, make a note of your settings, and then revert to the default settings. If that does not remedy the problem, follow the manual to optimize your BIOS.

As a last resort, you can back up your personal files, tap F11 during bootup, and follow the system prompts to restore your PC to factory condition. Unfortunately all the demo crapware will be reloaded in that case. But it may be worth it to get your 'puter running fast again. Sometimes the latter option is quicker than repair as there always seems to be a never ending "one more thing you can try."

Good luck

Ok, so my laptop has a P4 @2.4GHz, and I just reformated it. Recently I was trying to look at youtube stuff, and I found the same old problem still there; 100% CPU usage.

I'm certain my computer is clean (I've barley installed anything or done anything yet), and I've tried with two browsers (Firefox and IE), and it usually goes like this: the movie starts out fine, at like 10-15% usage, then climbs to like 30%, then up and up until it's at 100%. It will either die down if I minimize the browser (it takes a little bit though), or if I just restart the browser.

This usually takes a couple of minutes to happen, and it's really annoying. Turning down the quality makes little difference, but I shouldn't have to.

I've got all the updates for Windows and the latest Flash, and I'm not sure what could be wrong.

Anyone have any idea? Thanks in advanced.

Could you try this for me:

1.) Download http://www.rickatnight11.com/Pencil-Test.flv and save it directly to your C:\ drive
2.) Restart the computer and boot into Safe Mode (press F8 as it boots until it gives you a coice)
3.) Login under Administrator
4.) Open the flv file in both IE and Firefox and see how your system reacts

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Hi, Autumn_kiss,

Gee, with a screen name like that, I don't know if I'll be able to type this or not; now I'm distracted by the suggestion.

Anyway, there are multiple reasons why this could be happening. Even though what I'm about to suggest probably won't make a noticeable difference, I'd like you to do it as a good first step. We might as well see if Windows can repair the file system. Odds are good that this hasn't been done in a long time, so we should get it out of the way, and see where it leads us.

Since I don't know how much YOU know about computers, we'll take it one step at a time. This method is presented step-by-step; don't rush, and you should breeze right through it. Read the procedure a few times so you'll be familiar with what you have to do, then roll up your sleeves and start punching some keys.

Before you begin, close any open programs. Next, open a COMMAND prompt (looks like a DOS window). If you don't know how to do that, then click on Start > Run > and type CMD in the box, then press Enter. A DOS-type of window should open.

In the DOS-type window (usually BLACK with WHITE lettering), type this:

CHKDSK /F

and then press ENTER.

Just to clarify things, that is the letters CHKDSK, followed by a SPACE, followed by a forward-slash, followed by the letter F.

Windows 7 Disk performance is Horrible.

My system:
Windows: Windows 7 Professional x64 (6.1 Build 7600) (Obtained from Microsoft MSDN Academic Alliance)
Processor: Core 2 Duo e7400
Ram: 4GB DDR2
Mobo: Gigabyte P31-DS3L
Graphics: Asus 9800GT 512 MB

Prior to installing i moved all my files around on my Sata disk (averaging about 40-50 mb/sec in XP according to windows copy) After the install of Windows 7 I copied files back to their locations on my system drive (Average was 15 mb/sec according to windows, what the hell?)

Also I'm having issues that while copying i wasn't able to stream video via my smb share without it being choppy, and also if uysing any web browser while doing disc intensive actions the browser would go into "Not responding" mode.

This is further illustrated by that when I work in Adobe After Effects, if i move the timeline slider to fast (disc access intensive) the program will instantly go into Not responding mode and I'll have to restart it.

I've tried to fix this with several methods, among them turning off write cache buffer flushing on the drives (did bring the resource drain down a bit, but didn't help for speed or non responsiveness)

This is really a shame since I've been looking forward to using Windows 7 since the RC ran very well. unfortunately since Windows 7 is unable to run disk intensive applications such as video editing it looks like I'm going to be forced to move back to Windows XP =(

I installed Windows 7 onto this computer years back, and have been using it every single day since then. It's had it's problems. Mostly with driver problems. I've hesitated reinstalling Windows 7 because I have 3tb of information on all of my hard drives/solid state drives. I would rather not reinstall all of my games as well.

Let's get down to business.
My computer takes a long time to start up, and it has extended with time. Now it takes like 5-10 minutes after actually logging in and reaching the desktop for anything to become responsive. I can try opening things but firefox won't open, I usually just go to the Network center for no reason, but it slowly works. After that it is just like usual, but of course it isn't at 100% performance... sometimes everything will slowly lock up and become unresponsive and all windows that I had open will be frozen until I restart my computer.

How exactly do I get this fixed? I want to go through and fix it without doing a fresh-installation of Windows 7.

I have a wired connection to my main PC using a TP-Link adsl router.

My 2nd PC and Xbox are wireless and can connect to the home network but the network performance has gone down massively.

I guess options to improve are;

1) Add different arials - not sure of effectiveness
2) Wireless repeater - no idea how to set this up. I have read guides but they do not make sense to me
3) Move the router back to where it was before - would have to run a long network cable to it? Can this be tested without moving the cable and just have teh phone line plugged in?

Any other tips to improve?

I am having some very bad performance issues with my P3 2.4 GHZ, 2400 meg RAM PC, but please let me start with a simple question first:

All my DLLs system files /XP/apps/OS stuff are on my C drive, which has 25 percent free space;

my other HD, the E drive, holds only videos, docs etc, no apps and no system files; I have loaded it up so that it has only 80 meg free (out of a 40 gig HD)

QUESTION: one person says it doesnt matter how close to 100 percent full my E drive is, since I dont have any system or app files there;

another person says the fact that one of my HD is so close to full may be creating prblems

WHO is right here? I am having issues such as trouble loading applications, horrible response times, etc. EVEN when I dont deal with any of my files on the E drive. When I used my IE, I would often try to open it and it would fail to open: I would have to double click many times to get IE open. Then at shutdown I would get errors telling me that an IE session is hung // I got pissed off and simply started using OPERA (much better browser) and this problem went away but response time still bad.

So first question: is it possible that the E drive being THAT full is causing this? I dont see why since no system files or apps are there, but I'm not knowledgeabler enough to know for sure.

Can someone please help? Should me first step simply be: remove a bunch of stuff from E drive?

Hello all:

I have a Dell 2400 w/ Celeron, Windows XP Home SP1, Norton Internet Security, and I've recently added 512MB RAM to the original 256MB.

Here's the problem: about 15 seconds after logging in (it's a multi-user machine) the machine's performance drops drastically (it can take 2-3 minutes to show the folders/drives in My Computer). Windows task manager shows 100% CPU usage at all times, and scvhost.exe (one of five svchost.exe's running) shows 30-50% CPU usage, with lsass.exe showing 50-70%. I can barely do anything on the internet (some Windows Updates took several hours today), and I'm trying to update to SP2 to see if that helps.

I've run NAV 2x, Spybot 3x, Adaware 3x, HiJack This 5x (checking the logfile on HJT's site and following the recommendations), MS's Malicious Software Removal Tool, TrendMicro's SysClean 2x, TrojanHunter, CWShredder, and I've applied MS KB835732 and KB890830. Nothing helps or finds anything wrong. I've done most of the scans/updates in safe mode, as normal mode and safe mode w/ networking both are incredibly hard to work with--the problem isn't there in safe mode. I've been leaning toward the Sasser virus, but none of the indications of infection are there (extra processes running, etc).

Any ideas? I'm about stumped...

Thanks in advance!

I just installed XP on my new Dell XPS 410 because Vista is so bad (BSOD, numerous incompatibilities). To do it, I bought a new Maxtor 7H500F0 500GB STAT II drive (which seems to have a good reputation for performance) and installed an OEM XP SP2 on that. It got assigned the drive letter H: (C: is the bundled Vista) but apart from that it all seemed to go OK. It's certainly nice to have a relatively stable OS again!

BUT... the performance of the H: drive is truly terrible, especially under XP, where it's the boot drive. I'm running Vista Home Premium SP2 on a Turion64 x2 dual-core HP laptop with 4GB RAM. I ran into a serious problem with this system last year and, after spending lots of time with Microsoft support, I gave up and restored the system to the HP factory installation. So it was a minty-fresh install just over a year ago.

Being Windows, its performance has degraded over time. For the last several months the performance has just stunk. I often run a lot of apps at once, but even when I'm not maxing things out, it spends a lot of time with spinning-circle cursors, locked-up grayed-out application windows, and "(Not Responding)" applications. This sometimes happens as often as several times a MINUTE -- usually if I'm asking the box to do more than twiddle its thumbs (CPU-intensive process running, or lots of apps running) but not always.

This is a 32-bit install, so Vista can't use the full 4GB in the box. I think I'm getting just around 3.2GB of usable RAM. In the Task Manager, if the "Physical Memory Usage History" goes over about 2.2GB, everything grinds to a screeching halt. The whole system may lock up for a few minutes -- sometimes so bad even the mouse doesn't respond. But that's less annoying than the spinny-circle "Not Responding" behavior, because at least I can avoid the total lockup by not exceeding the memory limits.

Is there any way to address this, short of a fresh install of 64-bit Windows 7? The lapt... Read more

Worst is on 720p and 1080p AVI, MKV, M2TS, MP4 etc

I tried most of the famous codecs. For now the best is Divx 7.1
I also tried with ffdshow2009, ac3, dts decoders;
also the recommended in this forum
Win7codecs_v107 + Win7x64Components_v115
still the same thing.

I tried most of the famous players.

It is slightly better if I decrease the desktop to 800x600

So on some videos I experience 2.7 fps !!!
That is 1 of 10 frames displayed.
Even the old style 1000kbs videos appear on frames

On xp all these were running fluently.
On my laptop (a much weaker machine) with Windows 7 - 32bit they also run better (although not as good as with XP)

I tried almost everything. And even with the fastest codec and the fastest player, and the worst settings, the performance is terrible.

Any suggestions will be wellcome.

Im feeling I ll have to go back to XP for the next 1-2 years ...

A:Terrible performance on video playback

Now I switched the Windows Theme to - Windows classic, which simplified a lot of the displayed windows. (previous was an aero theme)

This gave a lot to the performance.
Still all 720 and 1080p videos are on frames - around 12-20 fps, depending of the screen resolution and the codec.
I guess it would be great for future implementation a full screen program to turn off the aero themes. Just as an option for slower videocards.

Hi,

I've posted this in the ASUS forums but not getting anywhere so I thought I'd post it to a wider audience in case there was something incredibly basic I was overlooking.

I've recently put a new system together from scratch with a P5K3 Deluxe WIFI motherboard (inc bundled 2x1Gb DDR3) and an ASUS EN8800GTX 768Mb graphics card using Vista Ultimate 32bit. On the surface, the system runs fine with no error messages etc but anything to do with 3D runs terribly.
Tried the included Ghost Recon which ran worse than my old machine. Then ran 3DMark06 which gave a score of ~3000 on the standard settings and maxed out at 15FPS during the tests. Something is obviously wrong! Tried a few more games including recent DX10 demos which confirmed this.

I have now tried/checked:
- graphics card 'properly' recognised with correct memory and in PCIe x16 bus
- connected with 2 x 6pin power
- all latest bios/drivers
- also rolled back through most old drivers but did not make a difference
- fresh Vista install and carefully installing the ICH9R chipset program before any other drivers
- flashed older bios versions to both graphics card (60.80.08.00.44) and motherboard (0501 & 0413) in various combinations but did not make a difference
- tried different bios settings on motherboard (turning off SpeedStep, C1E support etc.) & checked PCIe slot is not forced to x1.
- tried most settings available on the NVidia Control panel
- loaded ASUS SMART DOCT... Read more

A:Problem: Terrible 3D performance from 8800GTX

Update

I just came up with the 'radical' (slight sarcasm) idea of putting the graphics card in the second physical x16 PCIe slot. The 3DMark score after installing the drivers jumped up to ~8000. Checking the bus speed it showed it was running at x4 as this is all the motherboard supports in the secondary slot.

When in the primary slot it shows up as x16 in CPU-Z and the NVidia control panel but obviously does not perform as such. I've checked the BIOS to check it's not forcing the slot down to x1 etc. Do you think this means there is a physical problem with the board and it needs to be RMAd?

Thanks

Hi everyone. I'm having some problems with my netbook. It is performing worse than the Samsung Intercept ($200 brand new no contract android bought through virgin mobile). I'll try to keep this as to-the-point as possible. So the problems I'm having are:

My computer is very slow. this just started recently and is getting worse. eventually it will just become unresponsive and i have to reboot by holding the power button and turning it back on. this will get some performance back, but it does not last long (maybe an hour?)
The task bar will often just disappear even though I do not have auto-hide turned on. I just verified this a couple minutes ago.
Shockwave Flash and Skype toolbars plugins on Google Chrome are constantly crashing
It takes a long time for programs to start, and soon after the computer will tell me that the program is not responding

What I've done so far:
Run Malwarebytes Anti-malware, found and fixed one problem after updating the database
Run Spybot search and destroy, found and fixed 28 problems
Performance was unaffected after fixing the problems that were found

Acer Aspire One netbook I bought brand new in mid 2009
Intel Atom processor
1GB memory
160GB harddrive

I recently reformatted my Sager P151EM laptop with a GTX 670M and Nvidia Optimus. I am getting horrible performance. For example, in Battlefield 4 the only way to may it somewhat playable is to put the settings at the very lowest and 720p resolution. My friend has a 660M and has no problems running BF4 on high settings.

Some info:

NVIDIA GPU Enabled: Yes, the NvOptimusTestViewer claims the GPU is enabled and rendering the game

Hello.

My brother asked me to deal with his old computer but after checking it cursorily I decided to ask here for help. Problem is basically described in the topic - Firefox attacks with tons of pop-up ads and redirect
to some kind of advertising sites when I try to open any website. The second thing is the overall performance. This setup is more an old piece of garbage than a real computer, I'm aware of that, but it was enough to surf the net. Lately it can't even handle simultaneously opend Spotify and a web browser - maybe there is a way to deal with it on the "software level"?

I did some logs to look through - OTL, FRST, GMER, AdwCleaner and Malwarebytes Anti Malware. The last one detected some malware so I deleted it all with this program itself.  Some phrases in the logs are in polish - I hope it's not a tremendous issue. Just say if you need anything from me.

I'll be happy to receive any help, thanks in advance.

Well after all that business I reinstalled windows 7. My computer does not work like it use to before I reinstalled. I can't play any games without stuttering. I.E. playable for 1 minute, freeze for 5 seconds and repeat. (I was able to play oblivion max settings) and even minecraft, MINECRAFT lags(single player). Firefox constantly gives me not responding errors. So I had to give up my favourite browser for chrome, which is a resource hog itself. Checked memory, it's fine. Checked HDD it's fine. I'm not sure what it is... I've tried everything. A lot of windows options freezes for 5-10 seconds before opening, per say opening my windows documents, or opening notepad etc. Pretty much anything freezes for 5 seconds.

Disc, memory and CPU usage spike up way too high during random services and actions, leaving the laptop unusable. Even booting takes way too long. Trying to play League of Legends I can barely run the client, let alone the game itself, which doesn even load up most of the time.  Apparently z50-70 wasn't even tested with 1709 according to the lenovo compatibility page, and most of the drivers have been outdated for the entirety of win10, since they are from 2015/2016. So I bought a laptop close to 3 years ago and now I can throw it away because i won't get driver compatibility for the new Win10 version? And when I try to open a ticket, I can't even select my country in the dropdown menu, there seem to be only Greek provinces or whatnot, and I can't send it. I am not sure why you are blaming 1709 on Lenovo. It's Microsoft's problem. You could have rolled back 1709, but since you did a clean install, you lost that option.

It goes from the normal 54 Mb/s to 1 Mb/s every minute, sometimes even disconnecting, even though I'm right next to my router. I know it's not a router problem cause I tried different ones, also all other devices (some of them Lenovo) work perfectly fine with the same network. I tried installing new drivers and even reinstalled Windows. I know a lot of people have the issue but couldn't find a working solution. I beg for help because right know the only option seems to be giving it back.

Hello!!!!!!!!!

My system is as follows,

Windows 7 64bit
Gigabyte M720-US3
Phenom 2 945
2gb corsair XMS2 DDR2 800mhz
Display driver 195.62

I'm getting really bad graphics performance. I lost like 10 FPS on RE5 benchmark versus windows XP 32bit. On Left 4 dead 2 my average FPS is around 35-45, and even lower if I turn shader quality up to maximum (which the game recommends)

On my old system (AMD 3800 X2 Win XP) I never got any slow down on L4D 1 and there isn't much difference between the 2 games graphically.

I ran SiSoft Sandra GPU benchmarks and my GT 9600 scored quite a bit lower then the reference cards.

My memory and CPU clock are both at stock.

Is this a driver problem? What can I do to improve things, please?

Hi Oakmann and welcome to the forum,

I have never heard of that build, I think you may mean build 7057, have you installed all your drivers and made sure everything is up to date, also a newer build is out in the wild now, build 7068 in x86 and x64, so you may want to give that a try instead to see if that fixes the problem.

Hello everyone, I have been so annoyed at the performance of my trackpoint 'nubbin' on my X1 Yoga. It seemed liked, overtime, the performance would degrade and I'd have to use more and more force to get the cursor to move, especially when moving it right. I tried the MarkC vbscripts and wasted a lot of time trying to customize the sensitivity to compensate. However, another post tipped me off to a solution. If you pull the nubbin off, you'll notice that the stick is a lot shorter than it used to be. If you pull the nubbin up so it just barely catches on the stick, you'll trackpoint performance will improve. The solution: take a tiny bit of paper and shove it up in the nubbin hole (lol) and put it back on the stick. You probably will have to reset your cursor speeds down to slow.  I say this is 'mostly' solved because I still need to undo the MarkC customizations and also see how this performs over time. I hope this helps you. the problem is so frustrating!

A:Solved (mostly): terrible trackpoint performance / drift / sore finger

Hi,

That's interesting.  I had a similar complaint about my X1Y until I found the sensitivity setting in Lenovo Settings.  I had been struggling with the speed setting in the UltraNav configuration.  Speed and sensitivity weren't the same thing - on my machine.

Once I got away from "speed" and adjusted "sensitivity" it's been fine.

Which/where settings have you tried?

Z.

I apologize, but you will most likely first notice how long this opening post is. I've dealt with BSOD for quite a while now and I've decided to search for help.. So, I've come to you guys. I've done a lot of research on the problem so I'll throw out some of my ideas.

The Problem:
I can't seem to play semi-graphic intensive video games for no longer than 15 minutes (games such as Counter-strike:source, BF2, Half-life 2 etc). My computer will freeze momentarily, go black, and then proceed to the Blue screen. It used to be that I would recieve an "IRQ not less than or equal" error, but now my BSOD crashes remain just blue, no error codes, 'nuttin'. Now, when I play less intensive graphic games such as regular Counter-strike 1.6, I can go for a few hours before it crashes.

Some Ideas
Heat
Because my computer seems to do a bit better on less graphic intense games, I'm wondering whether it may be a heat issue. More stress = more heat = less time till BSOD? I'm not sure, I'm not a computer guru, but I know a little.
Here are my temps: CPU 51C/123F (55-57C under stress)
MB 34C/93F

Voltage/Power
I did some research, and I learned maybe that power could play a part in problems with BSOD? My PS is one that came with my computer case and I believe it is 350w. It's not the greatest in the world. Idk if i could be gettin too little power and the games may cause it to crash.

Hi Ben,

Take a look on the side of your power supply and tell us the brand name, wattage, and how many amps on each rail. That should help because you have some things on your power supply that don't seem quite correct.

Also, just for kicks, download this free program and tell us the temps, the voltages, and the fan speeds. That should help:

Mouse specs:

I've gone through every troubleshooting step possible with my video card, and nothing seems to be wrong with it. I have almost no background applications running (under my username). I was going to get around to reformatting my hdd and doing a clean install of Windows 7, and now I think I'll do it even sooner, now that this is happening. I have asked a few friends, and they have no clue what is going on. Some are even very experienced with hardware. Short of taking my rig to my local PC store to get diagnostics run for $80, I don't know what to do.

DxDiag is attached.
