Omni 100-5155 Desktop screen dark no power button light

Q: Omni 100-5155 Desktop screen dark no power button light

I hope someone can help - I woke up this morning and my Omni 100-5155 Desktop All in One will not work. When I press power there is no power on light and the monitor is dark. I can hear the computer starting up but I never hear the windows sound because it will not play until someone enters the password. I also do not see the system do the keyboard reconize check etc. it is just a little over 2 years old :-( I have disconnceted and reconnected all the power cords and connections. I thought about seeing if the BIOS is reconizing the hard drive but of course I will not be able to see anything without a monitor. I do have the recovery disks also but they won't do much good without a monitor. I also thought about hooking it up to my television (as a monitor) to see if the system is indeed working but that computer has no monitor port. Thank you for any input!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am not sure if I should ask here or in the laptop section since it is classified as a desktop, but the innards are more along the lines of laptop components. I have an Omni 100-5155 and looking for any upgrade options I may have (I do realize those options are extremely limited). I've already maxed the RAM to 8Gb, but am looking for CPU, hard drive and wireless possibilities. So my questions -What is the max capacity hard drive the motherboard will accept? I am hoping to also replace the optical drive with a hard drive caddy. Are SSD's and/or SSD/HDD hybrids supported? Can the PCI Express x1 802.11 b/g/n card be replaced by this? (to match my router's ability)Intel 3160 Dual Band Wireless AC + Bluetooth Mini PCIe card Supports 2.4 and 5.8Ghz B/G/N/AC BandsOr would I be better off getting a wireless USB dongle (if that would even work)? Any CPU suggestions or same form factor motherboard upgrade replacement possibility? I know my USB 3, better graphics and Gb WLAN dreams will have to wait until I've finished saving for a moderate gaming rig build, but I thought since I'm likely to be upgrading to Win 10 soon I should try to get the most I can out of this system... which will be eventually handed down to the nephews, hopefully within the year.  Any and all helpful suggestions will be appreciated. Day before yesterday when I was trying to start my laptop, the light turned on-off continuously several times, and finally the power key light turned on but the screen was black. And yesterday the light turned on-off thrice. But after that every time I turned it, the power button light got on, but the screen was black.Present situation: On starting my laptop, the power key light is on, but the screen persists to be black, not getting on-off on it's own. I found one solution, of removing the battery as well as charger and pressing the power key for about 60 seconds. But it didn't help. Please suggest what might the problem be and solutions!!

Hi. Tonight I had a problem with my laptop. It was in sleeping mode, and when I open the lid there were no mouse function and no touch screen function. So the only thing I could do was to press the power button for 3 seconds to turn it off, but it didn't completely, because the screen turn off, but the power button light is blinking just like when it is on sleep mode, and I'm not sure if the hard drive light was on, off or blinking before this, but now is blinking. I press the power button and nothing happen, I press it for 3 seconds and nothing happen. I even did the HDMI connection to another monitor, but both monitors don't show anything, not even recognize that something is connected to the HDMI port in the new monitor. There is no sound, nothing, just the 2 blinking lights. What should I do? Thanks PS: I'm not sure if it's Windows 10 32-bit or 64-bit. It was upgraded from Windows 8

A:LCD display dark, but with a flash light can still see the desktop faintly

There are 2 common things that can cause the problem:

1)  Blown fuse in the motherboard
2) Hall sensor in lid

The Hall sensor is a magnetic switch that senses when the lid is closed.  It determines that event when a magnet in the palmrest or keyboard bezel gets near to the switch in the lid.  A brolen palmrest or failed sensor will cause it not to work.

Did anybody have similar looks? Or just me.But, when I increase the brigness to 100% those dark shadow are totally gone. Here's the list of the photo that I snap:  1. https://img2.brain3.photobox.com/14763000a7ee1e65a131a56a7c5f6afe8eb3880fd4da8822d0121520ab93c818d27...2. https://img2.brain3.photobox.com/588148187d8189b2bb3277af42d47aa298fe2176a52817c9efb1ba0a3ff570a42a9...3. https://img2.brain3.photobox.com/31818356825625c57bfcd57819e61f5e9e2391a3be25e77bc8fb56f709617ab568a...4. https://img2.brain3.photobox.com/384371500d8de2142f28078a7c0899739d604bf663e472f48fddb7b9559c9c08d6a...5. https://img2.brain3.photobox.com/88350142b9e6f9dc36b1e14e1d32486859cf45aa0577e8bc3860284c867d41d132c...6.https://img2.brain3.photobox.com/94361686166bb36888b5be390abf01e0f0fd1da376bca1500e31d4b145f824b95b9...7. https://img2.brain3.photobox.com/04321231f483a4a2e4fc9be395baa7de810f7b4512528718e50084aa5fbfb2c31d6...8. https://img2.brain3.photobox.com/022692023128b3e9af5558a4a1f611a2d2473833670016d8d8b4291be54f6a6b8fc...9. https://img2... Dear Customer, Try the following. Open Settings and select System.  Select Power and sleep, then click on Additional power settings - in the following window, click on 'Choose what the power button does' in the left hand pane. In the subsequent window, first click on 'Change settings that are currently unavailable' ( near the top of the Window ) and then remove the checkmark from the box against 'Turn on fast start-up (recommended)'.  Click the Save Settings button, then close any open windows and restart the notebook. When windows has reloaded, download the IMEI driver directly from Intel on the following link, unzip the package and run the installer. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26127/Intel-Management-Engine-Consumer-Driver-for-Intel-NU... When the installation has completed, restart the notebook. When the machine has reloaded, re-enable Fast Start-up and reboot the notebook once again - let Windows fully load for a few minutes before checking.

1. Plug the computer into a power strip that has an on/off switch. Turn the power strip on. Press the computer power on button to start as normal, but after after one second turn off the power strip switch just long enough for the fans on the computer to slow down, but the amber computer led doesn't turn off and then turn the power strip switch back on. Computer should start and run fine. Computer typically can be shut down for up to 5 minutes and restarted normally--any longer and you have to sue the power strip power switch routine again.Click to expand...

do you mean a single beep, or multiple beeps? These codes will identify the issue.

Specifically with Dell desktops, you can refer to these beep codes:
1 beep: BIOS ROM corruption or failure
2 beeps: RAM not detected
3 beeps: Motherboard failure
4 beeps: RAM failure
5 beeps: CMOS Battery failure
6 beeps: GPU failure
7 beeps: Bad CPU

Hi,
Vostro 460 Mid Tower system, circa May 2012, Core i5-2400, Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
I noticed that recently the light in the power button is completely out. No blue, no amber, no steady, no blinking light - nothing.
Other than that, the PC works just fine. Turns on, runs, everything else is fine.
It's just a little disconcerting, because when it goes into powersave, there's no visual indication that the computer is on.
Any thoughts about what this might be? Loose connection to the motherboard? Are power button LED's in the Vostro 460 known to burn out?
Thanks

A:Vostro 460 - No light in power button

Led is burn out. You can grab a similar LED bulb and replace the old one. This will be a simple soldering exercise.

To be clear, my PC turns on and seems to run exactly as it should, so this is possibly more of a cosmetic/superficial issue. The little light located on the power button no longer lights up when the PC is powered on. Strangely, the light still blinks on and off as it should when the PC is in sleep mode, so the light still has some functionality. My PC is only a couple of months old, so I'm just a little concerned that this could be a sign of things to come. I hope that other components don't start failing on me.Does anyone here have any possible explanations? Thanks.

Can someone tell me for sure that the LED on the power button is supposed to light up?  I swear mine worked.  I sent it to Dell to have the hinge problem fixed, which I see a lot of you had issues with.  Well, when I got it back the light no longer comes on.  Dell is trying to say it never came on.  That this model doesn't have a light.  I said, why does it have the rectangle clear lens for a light?  They just keep saying it doesn't have one.  They said they would send a copy of specs that show this.  Never did.  I have several people that agree with me.  But, looking for more support to confront Dell.

It's either a bad power supply or mainboard -- the former more likely than the latter.  Unfortunately, both the power supply and mainboard are both proprietary and obsolete on this model - you may have difficulty finding either.
Unless the system can't be replaced for some reason, that would be preferable than the seach for parts for this one (which is on the order of 15+ years old).

alright, I just got this inspiron 6000 from my sister that didnt work. she said nothing would happen at all. well it turned out the power light would go on, caps lock light blink for a few seconds and it would turn off. somehow the memory wasnt in the slot very well. bam, got it working, dumped all her pics and crap to a external hdd, and wanted to wipe it all out and start over. she is sending me a xp disc, but for now I just figured Id go back to 2k cuz I have that disc and when I get the disc go back to xp.

anyways, I couldnt figure out how to format the drive, because obviously xp was running off of it. anyways, I kept trying all the del - f2 - f8 - f12 to get a dos prompt before windos would load but I couldnt. so I figured Id just put the 2k disc in because I thought I remember that it formats it right before it installs. but it asked me where to install and the disk was partitioned and I wanted one drive letter so I cancelled the install, before it was actually installing though, said f3 to quit and I hit f3. now when I try to power it up, the power light comes on, the hdd light comes on for maybe 1-2 seconds max, then the cd drive light comes on and it spins up, then stops, and the screen just stays black, never did anything either. just black the whole time.

I cant use a floppy to try anything because no floppy drive. I tried starting up with the win2k disc in but doesnt work. I searched on my desktop running win2k and it showed a tutorial for making a usb flas... Read more

I have a Dell Latitude E5250. When plugging in the AC adapter the only light that comes on is the power button light and it's blinking continuously. The other indicator lights are off. The system board has been replaced, no change. After the system board was replaced the battery indicator light came on and the battery charged, though the laptop would not power on when the power button was pressed. It would light up then go out.  I've removed the battery and AC adapter, held down the power button to discharge flea power, no change. Followed Dell TechDirect directions to remove the battery and CMOS battery, then insert the AC adapter and power on the laptop, no change. I've tried known good RAM. I've removed all components including the LCD cable, no change. When the AC adapter is installed the power button light blinks continuously, no pattern, no other indicator lights come on. Any thoughts? I'm wondering if it's a video issue, bad Touch LCD?
Thanks.

Hi guys well I just hope someone with some electronics knowledge in repairing notebooks would help me out in here.
I got a sager 5680 lappy, and when I plug the lap on AC power without the battery I turn on the unit and instantly goes off, ( I hear a low sparky noise like some sort of short circuit, when this happens the psu light dimms from rock solid ) .
Now if you leave the unit with the battery charging you may be lucky and the battery will charge and the only way the unit works is with the battery on it's bay, as soon as you remove the battery boom unit shuts off.

The Unit does work but only when you plug in a battery and when it charges if you leave it dunno a couple of nights never gets solid green

What I did :
==================

- Could the PSU be bad not throwing enough amps ? even if it shows voltage
on digital meter

- This lap has a separate voltage daughtercard for the battery I removed it when diagnosing this card goes
plugged onto the mainboard and here the battery gets plugged.

- Measured PSU voltage it's working fine 20volts DC

- Checked SMD fuse on motherboard , fine

- Dissasembled the entire unit ripped everything off that might me faulty

- I've read the AC plug sometimes get's broken and I retouched the solder points, once I did this, by miracle the unit started without the battery plugged on. But guess what after I assembled the unit then again , when on AC power alone turned on , and then went off . So I don... Read more

The power adapters and the power sockets have an extremely high failure rate in the Sager 5680 laptop. We have seen eight of them in our shop with identical symptoms. While still under warranty, Sager replaced those without a question.

The problem appears to be where the power meets the motherboard. New parts would need to be re-soldered into the system... expensive because it is very time consuming.

Sorry I don't have a solution for you. Working units are available on eBay, if you want to trace the problem between a working model and a failed one.

I tried doing a hard reset on it (unplug, remove the battery, and hold power button down for 60 seconds), but that didn't work.  I tried this multiple times with no success. I shined a flashlight on the screen to see if there was a faint image (indicating a backlight problem), but there is no image at all. I tried connecting the computer to an external monitor, and that didn't work either.   Recently I had to replace the fan and the power button assembly on this machine, but it was working fine after that until now.

Power button LED light is not lighting up on DELL Inspiron 5559. Is it normal?

A:Power button LED light not lighting up on DELL Inspiron 5559

Good question.  I have the same problem with my 4 month old 5559.  The description in the reference guide says "Indicates the power and battery?charge status.  Press Fn+H to toggle this light between hard?drive activity light and battery?status light."  If I press Fn+H, sure enough it shows hard drive activity.    Confession time:  I never saw this in the documentation until I looked it up to reply to your question today!  I never knew I had a disk activity light - man, I'm glad to have found this!  :-)

I have an Inspiron 3650 i3 desktop pc that is a few years old and seldom used. When not in use it is in sleep mode.
Yesterday i tried taking it out of sleep mode, with no luck, and noticed the power button light was solid orange. After a few tries I hard reset the pc and it would not boot up completely. The fans come on and the harddrive sounds like its working but i get no video and the power button remained solid orange. After troubleshooting from several forums i ended up disconnecting everything from the motherboard and taking out the battery then after replacing it and trying to boot with just the cpu fan plugged in. same result, solid orange power button. The PSU seems to be working fine after troubleshooting it so im thinking its either the processor or mobo that has gone bad. Any suggestions?

I have a dell dimension 8100 that has been powerleaped from a 1.7 to a 2.5.  I recently upgraded the RAM from 256 PC 800 RDRam to 512.  I also have upgraded from a GEForce 2 Ultra to a GEForce 4 Ti4600 quite a while back.  Everything has been working great until the last week or so and I am at a loss here.  I used to leave my computer on all the time 24/7 with reboots here and there when I needed to.  Well, after I lost the fan on my Video card I started to turn it off.  After about six months of this it decided that it doesn't like to boot up after a night or two of being off.  What happens is when I push the power button you can hear it power on but the monitor says there is no signal being sent from the computer.  The other weird thing is that the power button light is amber instead of green.  I turned off the computer and unplugged all power from it and tried again.  This time it booted up.  The last time it happened, unplugging it didn't even work so I pulled the case apart and cleaned it out.  I yanked the Video card out of the AGP slot and reseated it and turned it on and presto it fired right up.  What gets me is when I leave it on and have to reboot it, everything works fine.  It only acts up when I leave it off over night or longer and then start it.  Could this be the battery on the motherboard?  My clock doesn't seem to be losing time in windows or anything.  If a... A:Dimension 8100 not booting up and has amber light on power button. Please HELP?

If the power button is blinking amber, it is probable that the power supply needs to be replaced. If the power button is solid amber, the power supply should be fine. At this stage of bootup, memory has not yet been tested, and is not a factor in this type of failure. Check the CPU and ensure that it is properly seated.

I have a dell t3400 (core duo e8400, 4gb Ram...) which was powered by the oem psu, but I changed it to a corsair vs450 so I could power my gpu. Two months later, after taking the gpu and psu to another pc, I put the oem psu back into the dell, and tried to power on, but there is a blinking orange light in the power button. I doubt it is a mobo problem, because it was working today. Any ideas?

Hi,
I have an old Optiplex GX240 that had its power supply break, I recently got another power supply from a different computer. The Power supply is working however there is an orange light on the motherboard and power button that doesn't flash. The ABCD lights on the back of the computer are also not lit.

A:Orange Light On Power Button and Motherboard - Dell Optiplex GX240

GX240 requires specific NON PFC power supply.  This unit is 16 years old now and has 512 meg ram of the PC133 variety.   A newer model like an optiplex GX620 or better is still viable.  This system is TOO OLD and TOO Slow to be of any use.
