Multiple monitor setup for Dell Latitude C800

Q: Multiple monitor setup for Dell Latitude C800

Hello..I am running the Windows XP home ed. OS. I physically connected a Samsung SyncMaster 750S monitor to my Dell Latitude C800 laptop. Upon booting up, the 2nd display monitor displayed an exact duplicate of what is on my laptop screen..

The problem is, I would like to have the laptop as the main monitor, followed by an extension using the Samsung, extending the horizontal field. I went into Help in Win XP and it told me to
click Identify on the Settings tab in Display to have a large number displayed on each monitor.
The Identify button or option does not appear though, so I can't set it up the way I want.

The video card in the laptop is supposed to be able to handle this kind of setup, so I suspect it's an adjustment in XP's control panel...any help would be gratefully appreciated...thanks,

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have recently purchased a used Dell Latitude C800 laptop. After installing Windows 98SE, I have no sound, no modem appearing in System devices and only VGA monitor resolution.

If anyone can help me with the drivers I need, or perhaps something that I'm missing on the Dell site (which is not user friendly). I just basically want to use basic email with the built in 56K modem, and to be able to view the screen in better resolution than VGA,

Any help greatly appreciated..Steve

A:How can I setup my sim card in Dell Latitude e7250?

What model WWAN card is in the system (or, if it doesn't have one, you'll need to purchase one) -- the SIM card is just a subscriber identity card?  It won't work without the wireless card, which in turn must be compatible with both your provider's network and with the operating system you're running.

I haven't installed a new laptop hard drive before. On my compaq desktops, I was able to hook up the new ones, insert my OS (Windows XP) disc, and boot it up.
I am running into an issue with the Dell where I have put the new hard drive in, and it boots to the dos prompt. I have put the OS disc in and the computer indicates it can not read the cd drive. With the old hard drive the cd drive works fine. The CD drive is the OEM drive that came with the laptop. Any ideas? I do not need any of the files from the old hard drive, and have the new OS disc and programs that I want to install on the new one. I am at a lost.

Hi there!

What I want to do: "...extend my desktop on a second monitor, but, my second monitor is compounded by 2 HDMI TVs and a VGA LCD stage monitor both used as Duplicate setup in Windows 7".

How I have done this (and it works!):

-I have 4 diplay devices (2 HDMI TVs that are connected using a splitter and two monitors both on VGA);
-I also have two "video cards" (GPU): one Amd radeon hd 6570 (with VGA, DVI, and HDMI ports), and Intel HD onboard (aprox. 1GB with VGA output port).
-I have connected the TVs with a HDMI 1x2 splitter on amd radeon's HDMI port, and one of my VGA monitors (this one acts as a STAGE MONITOR for the singer / artist lyrics).
-The integrated Intel HD card has my "Control" monitor attached that I use as my primary monitor (the one that shows me the Desktop and the lyrics control application).

Software aspect of the problem: In Windows 7, I use my Intel HD video card as my primary display, then I can extend on a second monitor the desktop! (The second monitor is my VGA Stage monitor). The Third display that appears in the setup is the HDMI splitter, this one is a Duplicate of my stage monitor. I use: 1680x1050 resolution for my primary display, and 1024x768 for the second monitor... (I know, this resolution is too small for my HDMI TV's... Windows recommends me a 1900 x ... fullHD resolution, but my STAGE MONITOR does not support that much, so I need to use a small resolution).

Hi all,

I have a Dell Latitude D630 and I would like to attach 2 external monitors to it and make one a default monitor and the other the extended with the lid of the laptop closed. The integrated video card is a Mobile Intel GMA X3100, and i have a port replicator (not a docking station).

What i've done is attached a dongle to the replicator, attached both external monitors, closed the laptop, and then both monitors are clones. I go into display properties\settings tab and select monitor number 1 to be default, selected monitor 2 and checked "extend Windows..." click apply but the "extend Windows..." selection deselects and goes back to original configuration.

Second try: I opened the lid to the laptop and sucessfully set the laptop as default monitor and "extend Windows..." to monitor "2" but both external monitors are clones. So essectially the system recognizes 2 monitors, one is the lcd on the laptop, and the second are both the external monitors.

I understand that the video card can only recognize two monitors therefore we will not see "3" monitors in the display properties. But i don't need the laptop and both monitors to work. What I'd like is to have my laptop lid closed, monitor 1 be the default, and monitor 2 be the extended, but the system is still seeing 3 monitors instead of 2 even with the lid of the laptop closed. Does someone know how to trick the system? Thank you in advance for your help... Read more

I have a question. I just purchased an LCD screen for my Dell CPi laptop. It came with the whole casing and internal inverter. The size of the screen was the same and it also said CPi on the outside. The only problem is that my laptop will not boot whenver I hit the power button. The battery indicator light on the laptop just blinks red. I opened the LCD and saw that the LCD inverter was different that mine (it mounts underneath the LCD screen. Mine mounts on the side). I put mine back on and it fired up with no problem. I believe it may be some power compatibility issue with the laptop screen.

Also, I will tell you what is wrong with my LCD. Maybe one of you could have a solution. The screen is missing vertically about 1/4 of the way to the right (1/4 of the screen is vertically black). I have tried moving, replugging the flex wires, checking for loose connections every, and tapping on the outside.

A:Dell Latitude Monitor Problem.

Hi PCMan78

If the computer won't boot with the new screen then either its bad or the wrong display for your computer. Make sure that you have a CPi laptop and not a CPiA laptop. They look alike but use different parts. The replacement screen you want should have the inverter in the same place as the one you have.
It does sound like you have a bad LCD display. Have you hooked up an external monitor in the back to see if it shows the video correctly?

Hello Everyone,

I am in desperate need of help.

Just started new business and wanted to setup 3 additional monitors to my current laptop. Bought 3 monitors and plugged in and to my surprise only two working. Did some research and found that my laptop only has the ability to set up 2 additional monitors and not 3.

Went to local computer shop and they advised to get a video card and that should help.

Before that I tried all the below option but nothing worked

1. HDMI to USB
2. VGA to USB
3. DVI to USB

What I haven't tried is the external docking station as that is bit expensive.

My laptop is Acer Aspire F - 15 F5 -572G - 77KY
Intel Core i7 with turbo boost
NVIDIA GeForce 940M with 4 GB Dedicated VRAM
16GB DDR3 l Memory

If my only option is Video card can you please suggest which one to go for and if that can be plugged into usb or something.

If there is any other option please let me know.

On the back panel of my desktop there is a VGA output and a HDMI output. I have the VGA going to my desktop Monitor its a gateway.

And Im trying to use the HDMI into my LCD TV as it is hung above my desktop anyway.

Am I doing something wrong or will it just not work?

So if I move a window from my 144 hz monitor to one of my 60 hz monitors it gets laggy. I have also noticed that if I fullscreen a window on my 144 hz monitor that I will get some strange tearing in specific places when I scroll up and down. If I revert the 144 hz monitor down to 60 hz it goes away. It also goes away by switching to windows basic instead of aero? Does anyone else have experience with this? I am pretty sure it is a windows problem.

I looked it up and other people had a similar problem as well. Sadly not many people use monitors beyond 60 hz so I doubt that this will be patched anytime soon.

Hi  Hoping someone may know the answer - but is there any hardware or software I can get to allow me to output my Lenovo Y50 onto three external HDMI monitors? I need them to be extensions of the display, rather than duplicates... I would like to setup three or four monitors on my computer. I want the screens to have individual properties but also be connected in a panoramic fashion. Can I add more video cards or should I get a ready made unit that supports several monitors? If so, where's a good place to look for one?

A:How Do I setup a Multiple Monitor Computer?

The Three main Hardware based ways to Setup Multiple Monitors

1) You can get a USB to VGA Adapter, or USB to DVI Adapter that will allow you to add an extra monitor to your computer via any USB2.0 Port. You can also add multiple extra monitors by using multiple adapters. This is a great option for viewing documents, surfing the web, using Microsoft Office and many other business tasks. This is not a good option for intense graphical situations such as HDTV, Blu-ray, Gaming and 3D / CAD Workstation applications. For those types of scenarios, it is highly recommended that you purchase a high-powered multi-monitor workstation or a Matrox Dual or Triple Head2Go.

Multi-Monitor Adapters

2) You can replace or add an extra video card to your existing computer, depending on how many monitors you wish to support. Although this sounds easy enough, this is a rather complex solution for a beginner, especially when trying to find a compatible graphics card. For this reason, I am going to write an entirely seperate post on that topic and will link to it here, very soon.

Multi-Monitor Video Cards

3) You can buy a pre-manufactured multi-monitor computer. The best place to purchase a multiple monitor computer is at: Multi-Monitors.com.
They carry a multi-monitor computer line called SUPER PC that can support from 2 to 16 monitors.

So one of our Dell Latitude 3540 laptops used to work fine with an external Dell monitor prior to upgrading to Windows 10.  After the upgrade it refuses to acknowledge that a monitor is connected.  Device manager shows the display adaptor using the Microsoft driver and displays the warning triangle. When the driver update is selected, it finds a driver and starts to download it, then fails with Code 43.  I have deleted the adaptor and tried updating the driver with the same problem.  I have downloaded Dells Video drivers for this laptop and tried installing them but this seems to have no effect.  I have searched the web and found many similar problems but no solutions.  Any help is appreciated as we need the second monitor working.

Dear Friends, Can anybody please help me with this weird thing?
My laptop: Dell Latitude D600.
After power failure the computer failed to boot. It did beep signaling error, but can't recall the sequence. What I saw is that any time I try to turn on, the boot starts, however the screen is black, but faint picture of the booting sequence can be discerned. Then an orange led on the right led bus turned on, and the computer shuts down itself.
I suspected that the inverter blew out, and purchased compatible one second hand. However, it is important to say that the computer boots and works just as always if external monitor is hooked behind. The monitor can be turned off, and the laptop will still go up without problem. However, if the external monitor cable or power cable are unplugged, the same kind of failure to boot ensues. Also, if the external monitor is hooked and the laptop had been booted, even after any time, once I unplug the monitor cable or its power cable, the orange led turns on, the computer turns off.
When I received the second hand inverter I installed it, although it isn?t identical to the original one. After installation the monitor came back to life, with light and picture, but either during boot, or short after that, the orange led turns on and the computer shuts down. I tried to change BIOS settings, and several times I could make my computer to boot for long period of times, but during boot is always show, for short time, the orange led. Also, new... Read more

A:Dell Latitude D600 won't boot unless external monitor hooked

Sounds like the motherboard has been damaged in a subtle way and it will have to be replaced. You have two problems. Usually when an external monitor only works normally it indicates the the LCD panel or inverter is bad. You have had some success changing the inverter, but the laptop shouldn't shut down on its own

Hi guys,

I haven't posted in a while, but I have a problem that is really beginning to frustrate me!

I was recently running a setup with dual monitors. This allowed me to move toolbars and menus out of the way to maximise working area when 3D modelling. Unfortunately, I've had to temporarily rever back to a single monitor.

The problem is, when I load the application and open the toolbars, they open off the screen, on the missing second monitor. I'm sure there is a quick and easy way of fixing this problem, but I can't find what it is for the life of me! I'd really appreciate it if somebody could help out.

Thanks very much.

I have a Latitude E6520/Core i7/8Gb RAM with standard Intel HD(r) Graphics - would I be able to use the Dell U3415W Monitor externally, connected to the Latitude's built-in display port, and drive the monitor at it's native resolution - WQHD (3440x1440), simultaneously with the built in LCD panel at 1920x1080? How about without the built-in panel?
Incidentally, I'd love to know how to figure this sort of stuff out myself, if anyone has any pointers to doing so.

The other day, I started having a problem with the screen on my latitude d610 laptop. After awhile of being on it would turn off. Not the laptop itself, just the screen (I know this because I can hear the audio coming from the task I was working on). This problem got progressively worse and now when I turn the screen on it only flickers on for about a fraction of a second before going back off.

I'm not entirely concerned with getting that fixed (although, if you know what the problem is, please do let me know). My main concern is the fact that I cannot get an external monitor to work. I have plugged in the VGA cable into my laptop and the external monitor and then I hold down the "fn" key and press the "CRT-LCD" button, but nothing happens. There is no problem with the VGA cable I'm using or the monitor I'm trying to use, because I tried troubleshooting with another laptop and was able to get it to work on that second laptop. The only thing I can think of is that maybe my d610 is not recognizing the VGA cable/external monitor, because after plugging the VGA into my d610 I do not get the "device is connected" chime that I would normally hear after connecting a device.

If you have any advice for me on what my problems could be or anything you think I might be able to do to try to correct the problem, I'd certainly appreciate it.

Hi, i have slight problem with figuring out my monitor. My mother and i just recently swapped computers because of 'graphic and audio differences' but i had a computer for barely 2 days the monitor just randomly out of no where while playing SIMS 3 just started doing displaying these transparency bugs and color problems on both external and internal monitors. my laptop monitor has these fuzzy red and blue pixels, mostly red when in dark areas or what seems to be lining of the objects. and blue on white or brighter color differences. this also loads up in the BIOS so its not a software or comparability issue. i opened it up once to check for a loose wire but didn't really find anything unusual, just re plugged everything in. and then it worked again. Now its been 2 weeks and i was on facebook and out of nowhere it starts happening again. and i noticed every time it happens a problem occurs on my external monitor to the left. (Only when the red fuzzy stuff appears) It stopped before and now its doing it again and i don't want to tamper too much with anything inside because im not exactly so familiar with a laptops motherboard. i am thinking it might have something to do with the graphics card or VGA input or something.. im not sure. any help would be AWESOME!!!

I am looking to setup a preview panel on a 2nd monitor which will show the contents of each open window on the 1st monitor; similar to how you can preview the window by scrolling over it on the taskbar.

1st monitor is at 1080p and the 2nd closer to 720p. I have my desktop set to extend displays so they display at their native res.

My situation: I have 4 maximized windows for projects I work on, all open and maximized at the same time. It's a bit tedious to switch back and forth between them in certain instances when I'm just looking to see what % a process is at, for instance. As a result I'm looking to use my 2nd monitor as a means of seeing previews of these windows. I would like it divided into a 2x2 grid where each quarter of the screen is a preview of 1 of the 4 windows.

If this is possible, how would I go about doing it? Would I need 3rd party software?

The Dell sales department keeps try to sell me a hdmi splitter instead of a docking station. I searched this for a while and couldn't find any case where it was used for a dual monitor setup as opposed to mirroring the same screen on both displays. This is not possible, right?

I know I can set up dual monitors just using the VGA/DVI/HDMI outputs on my latop, but don't want to mess with the cords each time, thus the reason I want a docking station. But I will see quality loss connecting to the docking station with a USB, right? I want to maintain the 1900x1200 resolution on both screens.

Can I connect to a docking station with one HDMI cable and then connect the docking station to the monitors using a DVI cable for one and an HDMI cable for the other?

Hello all,
We just received a shipment of Dell Optiplex 7010s with Core i7 3770s @ 3.10 GHz with 16 gigs of RAM and the Intel HD Graphics 4000 chipset.
I am trying to setup 3 monitors, as I had with the old Optiplex 755s and I am having an issue.  All three monitors are detected in Windows and by the Intel configuration utility.  However, when I enable the 3rd display, one of the 3 displays randomly turns off.  As such, I cannot use the 3rd display.
I have 1 Dell E228WFP hooked up via Display Port to DVI, 1 Dell P170S hooked up via Display Port to DVI, and 1 Dell P170S hooked up via VGA.
Has anyone had any luck getting this working?  I have updated to the latest Intel Graphics driver to no luck.
Appreciate any advice you all could give me.

A:Dell Optiplex 7010: 3 Monitor Setup Help

Hi msantangelo, The 023NVR are passive DP->DVI adapters and were around before the 7010 was released. Seriously, Dell have no idea! I bought some Sapphire eyefinity DP->DVI adapters to prove to my Dell rep that 3 monitors work on the 7010! Then I had to show my Dell sales rep which active adapters I wanted from their catalogue! Hope this helps getting 3 monitors working for you. cheers

Hello - I am new to this forum and created an account simply to post these directions on how to get 3 monitors working on a Dell Optiplex 7010. I spent hours and hours trying to get my displays working (spent $750 on 3 Dell P2719H monitors and could only get 2 working at a time)... Hoping that if someone else has this issue that they will be able to use this "guide" to resolve their issue. There is another post on these forums where a guy went through the same steps I went though - and got the monitors working - however, he did not post a link to the "Intel HD Graphics" driver that he used to resolve the issue. I have included the final post he made in the body of this message.

PC = Dell Optiplex 7010 - Windows 10 Enterprise build 1703 (these steps will work with windows 7 as well - I am not sure about windows 8.)
Processor = Intel Core i5-3570S @ 3.10ghz
GPU = Intel HD 2500.
Monitors = Dell P2719H x 3 with 2 connected via Display Port & 1 VGA

If you read the message below from the previous poster - you will see that Dell and Intel both told this guy that there was no way that he could connected 3 monitors simultaneously with the setup mentioned above - however, I can confirm - this DOES work if you install the driver listed in the link below:

You will need to download the .zip file from the link provided above this text for your operating system - MAKE SURE YOU CH... Read more

It appears as though there are two DVI and one HDMI port.
I am unable to confirm whether all three can be used simultaneously.

A:Dell latitude e6430 and dell latitude e6420

Joseph mate best leave as is after all it was made to function as it came. Now for the compound and copper shim personally I would not bother with the copper shim I can see no good reason for it the dual pipe again if it was made to work with one pipe then leave alone.

It is better if you renew the compound using a decent cleaner and compound and I can recommend these for that job

Arctic Silver Incorporated - ArctiClean for thorough cleaning and preparation and Arctic Silver Incorporated - Arctic Silver 5 for the compound.

Now it depends on who you listen to but I always use these products and after the old compound is thoroughly cleaned off and the surfaces prepped I spread the compound very thinly and across the both entire surface of the CPU and the heatsink with my finger inside a vinyl or latex glove and then place a rice grain sized piece of compound on the CPU and replace the heatsink. If you touch the surfaces after clean and prep then redo it.

While you are in there do make sure the fan and the radiator are really spotless and I sometimes relube the fan bearings to make sure the fan is running at full tilt when needed.

We have during the last autumn bought 3 Dell Latitude 7275 2in1  which comes with the "Dell Latitude 12 Premier Keyboard"
On all of these we experience a very annoying issue.
When connected to the keyboard it behaves very unstable and frequently looses contact with the 7275 just by a light touch and does not work at all, the users have to be very picky in which angle they have the 7275 connected and use it for the keyboard to work at all.
We have spoken to Dell support last week and they say the are not aware of this at all.
We can´t believe this is "by design" and thus we wonder if anyone else have the same issues here ?
And if so have managed to solve it somehow and can share the solution.

I would like to ask for your assistance because I'm already out of ideas how to resolve this issue. Right after I powered up the laptop, it will get past the DELL logo screen, then it will be completely just black screen. I wouldn't even hear any activity from the CPU fan, HDD and pressing the Caps Lock doesn't lit up the LED. The LED indicators on the side are only displaying the power indicator, but none for HDD, Battery and Wireless.
Here are the steps that I have done so far:
1) Removed the HDD and Battery, then press & hold the power button for at least 45-60 seconds to disperse the internal voltage. Then attach the Battery, but not the HDD.
2) Press and hold Fn and then the Power button, hoping to boot me up to the ePSA Diagnostic Utility
3) Press F2 or F12 while booting up
4) Re-seat the memory and also clean with a dry tissue
These are the procedures that I have done but nothing has changed. It still displays blank screen right after the DELL logo.
I do hope that you could assist me on this. Thank you so much!

Hey guys.
Pretty much what the title says - Dell's new, recently-released ControlVault driver (version A19) does not successfully install on a Dell Latitude E6330.  I followed the driver installation order from the "Dell Business Client Re-Image 'How-To' Guide" and installed the Dell ControlVault driver last.  It did not work.
Attached is a screenshot of what I got, and the Windows Installer log.
