Uppgrade to DirectX 10.1

Q: Uppgrade to DirectX 10.1

I'm just wondering how to upgrade DirectX 10 to DirectX 10.1, can anyone help me???

Preferred Solution: Uppgrade to DirectX 10.1

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My friend got some help from another friend of her to uppgrade from Vista to Windows 7. Instead of installing the uppgrade versjon she had bought, he installed a full version 7 pirate copy. And of course, it is not possible to validate it.

And, is there any change that the hidden recovery partion with Vista unfortunately can be deleted?

I need help with a directx problem. This started months ago. The problem is that certain games do not recognize what version of DirectX I have installed and tell me I need to upgrade despite having 9.0c.

When I do try to upgrade, the installation fails. I have tried reinstalling 9.0c with both the web and redistributable version as well as of the most recent updates to them and I get this error every time I try to install as soon as it first begins to search for components to update.

Well it worked for me anyway.

You need both the 9.0b and 9.0c full versions. both around 30Mb each. Unzip both to respective temp folders. then copy and paste the following from 9.0b to 9.0c:

next you need a direct x uninstaller. i used dx eradicator from majorgeeks.com, bu there are plenty around

once done simply run dxsetup in the 9.0c version (which would be the one you copied before right) and it will install using the files from the folder it is in. and there you go you have installed directx 9.0c.Click to expand...

A:Can't buy DirectX 11 required games, have DirectX 12 installed.

I think that DirectX 12 is backwards compatible with DirectX 11. I suspect that the issue is related to your graphics card. Is it more than 2 years old? If so then that might be the issue.

On running dxdiag, it states that I'm running DirectX 11, which is true. So I go into the registry, and the DirectX version key has the info that I'm quite sure is associated with DirectX 9.0. I tried changing the key (through regedit.exe) to the common 8.1 key in case it would work (so HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\directx\version to from, yet even so dxdiag still states that I'm running DirectX 11. It surprised me that DirectX 11 had a 9.0 version key, and I know this method worked back in DirectX 9.0, so I'm thinking after 9.0 the version must be communicated in a way other than through the registry. Is there any way I could get my computer to detect DirectX 8.1 even for a short time in place of DirectX 11? Like am I missing a necessary key, or maybe is there a DirectX version synth program?

Hello Rudabega, welcome aboard.

The log you uploaded contains four elements beyond repair, as I apparently found.
keymgr.dll ==> non system service
korwbrkr.dll ==> non system service
kerboros.dll ==> non system service
d3d11.dll ==> DirectX Direct3D 11
► For the non system services, I am not very sure which software originated those files in your registry. The best what you can to deal with those is to download and install CCleaner > Run it > Click on the registry tab > scan for issues > fix selected issues.

► For DirectX Direct3D 11, I would say that it is inbuilt in windows. So if SFC is unable to fix it when windows is running, try SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot

► But, for your situation, I would suggest you that a Repair Install would be the best option.

I just did a clean install on my laptop after installing a new SSD. I installed the drivers that I had to install manually, and then I did a Windows update for anything else. After getting everything setup I ran my first Windows Experience Index.

Surprising, the graphics score was only 5.0, but I am almost sure it was higher with the factory installation. I am runnng Aero but with most of the visual effects turned off. I viewed the assessment details and it showed this:

If you notice, the DirectX version is 10. But when I run dxdiag the version number in the report is 11. Here is my configuration, and please let me know if more information is needed. Thank you very much.

A:DXDiag shows DirectX 11 but Windows Experience Index shows DirectX 10

I believe that WinSAT only test for DirectX 10 and 9, not 11. That's why it only shows DirectX 10. If your card fails to do the DirectX 10 test, then WinSAT will only display DirectX 9. Don't worry about it. If DxDiag shows DirectX 11, then your card can support it.

A:How do I downgrade to Directx 9.0c from Directx 10.1?

DirectX 10 is built into Vista. You don't want to, and shouldn't downgrade, as DirectX 10 is backwards-compatible with 9.
All I can suggest if you're having difficulty with a game is the usual. Check for latest drivers from graphics card manufacturer (not from Windows Update). Tweak advanced settings for your graphics card if they're available. Tweak settings within the game. Check for updates and patches for the game. Contact tech support from the game maker and report the bug (be sure to tell them your exact setup and hardware and software specifications).

I have a DirectX 10, says the System Information. I want to downgrade my DirectX down to DirectX 9, because I want to know if the DirectX is the cause of my game's graphics problem.

Now, I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit System. Would downgrading DirectX be fatal? Would there be unacceptable changes?
If not:
a) Where can I download DirectX 9
b) How can I downgrade DirectX 10
c) How can I install DirectX 9

A:DirectX 10 downgrade to DirectX 9

What you are asking is nearly impossible to do. You can't downgrade your version of DirectX. There will be an option to unistall it, but the information of the version will remain in the regristry. And if you try to erase directx 10 out of the registry you will get trouble. So this is not the option.

To solve your VGA problem I would advice to download an older driver. Maybe that will help.

Good luck, let me know of it works.

A:directx 9 to directx 10 cards

I don't think they can. That's not to say that at some time in the future they won't. I'm sure a company that sells graphics processors wouldn't want a software advance like that to happen. They would lose a lot of sales.

Some of the games I have seen have the options to select which one to use, dx9 or 10 or 11.

Honestly, I have just a little approximate knowledge of what these do

most of them from experience.

- dx9 runs smoother (just for me i suppose)
- dx10 just adds shinys and i did not really use it. for some reason (in a couple of games i tried) it just hampered performance
- dx11 has tessellation and stuff

most of the search results from search engines primarily advertise gpu manufacturers boasting about how awesome games will look with their new gpus that support the latest directx (with "little" performance loss)

can someone enlighten me on this topic?

A:DirectX 9 to DirectX 11 : Which runs better?

DirectX is about improving multimedia to include games, videos, and audio - DirectX 11

Your DX modes also depends on not only the game, but the video card and OS - see step 6 of my guide here: Tips on Troubleshooting Game Issues.

Also, the higher the DX mode, the harder your system is tasked due to the increased textures (higher resolution) of the game, and this can have a huge impact on frame rates. This is where system build/components comes into play. Example higher end video cards tends to handle DX11 games more easily then mid to low end video cards. Same with system - a higher end system will perform better than a low to mid level system.

With today's systems being much more advanced than their predecessors were when DX9 was released there is somewhat of a "leveling" effect going on here. In other words today's systems are much more powerful and capable of handling more advanced multimedia (including games), and therefore require a more advanced DirectX API (Application Programming Interface). This is the reason for DX11, and the move towards DX12.

Yes, DX11 can task a system, but if the system is relatively new and upper mid level, this shouldn't be a problem. The problem comes in when trying to game with mid to low level systems/video cards. This is where you take a performance hit via frame rates. In this instance your can lower your DX mode, but at the cost of image quality - what most refer to as eye candy.

Hope this provides a better u... Read more

It could be the video card but the driver is easiest to check first.

I've got a Geforce 5500 256mb video card and I'm running XP and don't particularly want to move to Vista. However, I'm hearing that DX10 will be exclusive to vista.
I just know that within a couple of months I won't be able to play any new games if I can't run DX10.

A:Directx 10

vista or not - I doubt your vid card will be DX 10 compatible, sorry!

Q: directx

Hi. I hope this is in the right forum. When I run the directx diagnostic utility, dxdiag, it says it found errors in the registry. How can I repair directx?

Hi. Running Win7 x64, I have DirectX 11, and DirectX Diag shows all working fine.

I am trying to run an application (called SweetFX) which needs to have DirectX 9 dlls installed to run. I have downloaded the runtime update from Microsoft's website, but if I install this, is it going to replace my DirectX 11 with v.9.0c (which I obviously don't want)? Or will v.9 and v.11 co-exist on the same PC? In other words, will running dxwebsetup.exe for DirectX 9 just install the necessary files, but still leave me with v.11? Or will dxwebsetup.exe refuse to run on a machine with DirectX 11 on it?

Advice welcome! Thanks.

A:DirectX help please

I created a System Restore point and went ahead - the update seemed to go fine, no errors. The application now runs, and DX Diagnostics still shows I have DirectX 11....
