Lenovo X1 brightness problem - Graphics HD driver ...

Q: Lenovo X1 brightness problem - Graphics HD driver ...

Hi guys, I am trying to install the old Intel HD Graphics driver 15.40.13.4331 because the constant brightness of the screen is killing my eyes. It's the last possible solution there is, I've installed patches, done everything I can possibly think of. My X1 is brand new and the brightness issue popped up as soon as I updated it for the first time. Windows won't let me install the older version of the driver. Please, lots of karma and positive thoughts your way if you can help me out on this. have tried phoning into the help line and they really don't give the impression they care, one of the call centre respondees said to me "Well, if your screen is working what's the problem?". First time buyer of a Lenovo product - not impressed thus far.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello Lenovo, I work daily on my Lenovo Thinkpad T570 and I am very satisfied with the machine. However, there is quite an irritating problem with the laptop. The fact is, that my laptop runs Windows 10 October build 1809 and runs the newest driver from Lenovo for the Intel GPU.That is version: 24.20.100.6344.This driver version causes a lot of screen flickering on a screen connected through the HDMI port.Intel has released a new driver. Version: 25.20.100.6444.To solve the problem, Lenovo has to push this new driver. Do others also experience this problem with this driver that is known to be faulty with the October update?

Hello!
There are countless threads with people who can't change brightness on Windows 10. Easily solved, switch to the generic Windows graphics driver. However, to me this solution removes the Sleep option in Power menu. Only Hibernate is left, but I don't want to use it. I just bought a small SSD for the OS and I want to save the write cycles.

So as the situation stands, I can either choose to have the Sleep option with Intel Graphics 4000 driver, or have the brightness control with the Windows graphics driver. I chose the former, because I use sleep a few times a day, but don't change brightness very often. But I want both.

I am just checking, is there any option to have both sleep power setting AND working brightness control in Windows 10? Is Microsoft or Intel working on fixing the problem?
- I use two graphics drivers at once - NVidia and Intel 4000. Can't have just NVidia, that removes both brightness and sleep.
- Yes, I have the latest Intel 4000 driver.
- Yes, I have disabled adaptive brightness.
- No, I can't adjust brightness manually, if I try that, the screen is totally dimmed and I have to switch the drivers to fix it.
- I have Lenovo Z500, Windows 10 with the Anniversary package - didn't help.
- I made a clean install of W10 after my old W10 install got stuck in update-remove update loop.

Hi, I recently purchased my new yoga laptop (Yoga 530-14ARR)  with AMD ryzen 5 2500U processor in it. I used it regularly for about 2 weeks, but notice some problem with it several days ago. Whenever I watch x265/HEVC videos with hardware encoding (I use MPC-HC), the video always freeze exactly at 45mins mark. Everything works fine for x264 or other type of encoding and I don't want to use software encoding because it won't cut it because of the quality of the video and it ends up choppy. After trying to search it online, I found some discussion on reddit about some people have the exact same problems with ryzen and several of them conclude that the problem lies within the driver, because when they update the driver to version 18 (they are on driver version 17 when they have the problem) the problem's gone. Unfortunately, AMD does not provide driver for ryzen 5 2500U directly. I can only get the driver through lenovo's site and it looks like how they label the version is different too. I did update all my driver yesterday with the new driver that came out at Sept. 26, but the video problem still exist. Is there anything more that I can do?

The flickering issue happened many times before on my X1 yoga 2nd gen (OLED), the screen flickers like crazy that I cannot look at the screen when I unplug the laptop. Somehow I fixed it by updating or rollbacking the intel graphic 620 driver several times before. However, this time, I have tried several versions of the Intel Graphics 620 drivers including the latest ones on Lenovo support page and Intel website, none of them worked that I have to uninstall the Intel Graphics Driver and live with the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter for now. But then I cannot adjust the brightness or using the night light mode, which is also terrible. Any help will be appreciated, thanks!

I have one more problem, I have updated my BIOS to 202, the latest version, and I cannot find power options. I want to set an automatic power-on timer for my laptop.

Hi, I have a Yoga 3 1470 (80JH) with an onboard Intel Graphics 5500 GPU (Broadwell GT2). I recently completed a clean Win10 install (it shipped with 8.1) and since the upgrade the GPU utilisation (3D) will randomly hit 95-100%, this has a major impact on performance and the utilisation does not drop until the machine is reloaded. The only workaround I've found is to run the basic microsoft display driver, but obviously this is has very limited capability so is not a long term option. - Tried numerous drivers, both OEM & generic Intel. (it is currently back on latest OEM driver .4835)- Upgraded BIOS- Tweaked power settings- Tweaked Intel Control Panel Settings - Increased the dedicated video memory to 512MB- Disabled Background Apps - Ran Diagnostics Checks Using microsoft process monitor, during the high utilisation events there are no processes excessivly loading up the GPU so I am a little lost. I'm at the point where I think either the Yoga 3 80JH model has compatibility issues with Win10 but came up with nothing when looking for similar issues on the web, or....potentially I have a hardare probleim here (although it passes Lenovo diagnostics checks?). Any help/suggestions is greatly appreciated..

Hello,  I have the Lenovo y40 with the intel i7-4510 and wthe AMD Radeon R9 M275 graphics card. About 1 month ago, I was in the middle of a game when my computer just shut down and gave me a blue screen. Since then, I have been unable to run my computer with the graphics driver enabled. At first, I thought it may be a driver issue and have tried both the Lenovo drivers from their page (which seemed a bit outdated) as well as the AMD drivers from the website, neither of which have worked.  Furthermore, I did do a fresh install today in hopes that would fix it, however, it did not. I get the same thing, the moment it recognizes that the AMD card is working I get a BSOD.  Some of the error codes that I have gotten with the BSODs are as follow: THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER, BAD_POOL_HEADER, KERNAL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, BAD_POOL_CALLER, VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE, and KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (NTFS.sys).

I have been using this y410p to play games for almost three years now, and a small set of problems has slowly started to build.  As of now, most of my games will crash within 5-10 minutes of starting, commonly accompanied by the error "Display driver has stopped responding and recovered". Most of the time, the game will just freeze with the audio continuing and I am able to close it. Sometimes however, I get much more severe crashes, where the sound over 5 seconds becomes extremely distorted, and my mouse movement becomes increasingly laggy until the whole thing just freezes, with a monotone buzzing sound coming from the speakers.  I have noticed that the display driver crashes generally occur when my disk randomly spiked to 100%. Even a single second of it can cause my whole computer to crash. As of now, I can't play games that my computer has easily been able to run before. I've tried using IdeaFan to keep temperatures down, but I don't think it's temperatures causing it, seeing as I've seen it happen multiple times when the temperature is only around 50. If any of you have an idea of what could be causing this, please respond.  Also of note, I am running Windows 10, which I have heard can be problematic for the y410p. Could that be causing the issue?

Hi, I have also posted this in Lenovo's forum, but perhaps someone here have a solution as well. Recently my HDD crashed, so I plugged in a new HDD with a fresh Windows 7 Professional 64bit. I am trying to install the driver for my ATI HD 5730. I downloaded the driver from the Lenovo support page, installed it, and it installed sucessfully. I clicked "view log", all successful;I went to the device manager, it recognized the HD 5730 as well as the Intel Graphic. CCC is in the context manual of the desktop, but it doesn't open. However, the resolution of the screen remains at 1024 x 768. When I restart the computer, it says something along the line of "No ATI graphics driver is installed, or the ATI driver is not functioning." I tried to uninstall it, from program files, then cleaned the rest with Driver Sweeper, and then cleaned registry with Glary Uitility. Reinstalled, and same result. I even tried to uninstall all display drivers, and let Windows find the "new" hardware. Windows recognized and install the driver for the Intel Graphic, but failed to install anything for the 5730. I searched the web and I can't seem to find a solution that works. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I've had my laptop for less than 2 months, but recently I got stuck in an auto-repair loop (possibly a virus), so I took my laptop to my university's tech center. Once there they wiped my laptop clean and installed a fresh install of Windows 10. A couple of my drivers got deleted like my mouse and wifi drivers, but they re-installed them there as well. Everything was fine just a little slow, I re-installed all my apps/games back. I never really checked for Windows 10 updates until a couple days ago because I randomly got this error when trying to play my games. It would say something like this: "ERROR: your video card does not support alpha blending with floating point render targets (D3DFMT_A16B16G16R16F)". I have a GTX 1050 ti, so I was really confused. I looked up how to fix it on other forums and even Reddit. Apparently, this happens when your laptop tries using the GPU built into the motherboard instead of the actual graphics card. Many suggested uninstalling the current GPU drivers and re-installing them. So that's exactly what I tried, but now whenever I try to express install the newest driver on Geforce Experience; it says "The Standard NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows. Please update your driver using...(website)". The website it gives is not even available, so I look up and manually try to download/install the driver myself, but it gives me the same message it did on Geforce Experience. Hi, I'm having extremely bad problems. I bought this laptop especially for the dedicated GPU and I play games such as Sims 3, Sims 4 and GTA V and even though they're set to "high performance" in AMD, it still uses the integrated GPU. Apparently it has something to do with OpenGL. If they won't let the GPU be used with OpenGL, then what's the point in there being the GPU? A lot of games use OpenGL..... Is there a way to force my computer to use the dedicated GPU? There's no fixed option in BIOS. Only UMA or Switchable. I've tried UMA and that disables the dedicated GPU completely. Hello everyone, Since March 2016 I have a Lenovo G50-80 80R0, with i5 processor 5200U, 8GB Ram and Intel Graphics HD5500. I've always used Windows 10 in the factory installation and achieved considerable graphics performance, from 60 to 80 fps in the Counter Strike Global Offensive game. I bought a 120GB Kingston SSD and did a clean install of the system on the new disk, using the original HD as a filesystem. However, I noticed that the graphics quality in games has dropped considerably, going from 20 to 30 fps in the same game. I do not know what might have happened, since I installed all Lenovo-supplied drivers, updated Windows 10 to Anniversary Update, and disabled the Xbox DVR. I already rode the Intel driver update system and also tried the latest version, still in beta. All tested drivers gave the same result, even after the full reinstallation. The current driver version is: Intel Corporation 20.19.15.4501Processor: i5 5200U 2.2GHz 2.19GHzMemory: 8GBSystem: Windows 10 64-bit In addition, the system had a considerable improvement in performance, connecting in a matter of seconds and initiating programs with agility and stability. Although I do not run heavy applications, I use this note for web development and any games. If anyone has any ideas, I appreciate it!

When I install the newest Nvidia drivers for my Lenovo Y50, many games exhibit freak graphical problems, framerate losses or do not boot. Reverting back to an older driver fixes the problem.I have noticed that the most up-to-date driver available on the product support web-page is from 7/13/15. Is this because newer drivers are incompatible with this laptop? If so, when is Lenovo planning on getting a newer driver to work?I purchased this laptop to play games, and it appears as though I will soon be unable to play new games because this laptop cannot support newer drivers. Thanks, Dan

Graphics drivers are verified by OEMs to make sure, they are compatible with their systems. Once you installed OEM verified driver, you won't be able to install generic driver easily. In order to install it, you'll need to remove all traces of older driver(s) and prevent Windows Update from automatically installing OEM verified driver again. You can use Display Driver Uninstaller, which will take care of these steps for you. Once done, you will be able to install latest generic driver version without an issue. Just be aware, that there might be some problems, as driver wasn't verified to be compatible with your system.
