Windows 10 Email Sync issues with Webmail

Q: Windows 10 Email Sync issues with Webmail

I am new here, no so techy guy, just asking, I have a webmail account under a certain provider.
After setting up that email on my windows 10 mail client, I unintentionally deleted my email in my webmails inbox, after so, it's gone from both the client and the webmail. Is there a way to retrieve those emails?

A help will so much appreciated.

Thank you.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

On March 21st my Windows Live Mail stopped retrieving email from my CenturyLink email account and started giving a message that it can't send or receive mail due to an unknown error and it shows error Id 0x80004005.

I've tried setting my account details to those on my wife's laptop which is still receiving emails (although it also pops a similar error message) and I've been able to send emails from my laptop but still can't recieve them there. I've also spent hours on the phone with CenturyLink tech folks who have each suggested different settings in server names and ports, none of which have worked, and who finally suggested calling another phone number which turned out to be a subscription only PC fix-it site.

I've uninstalled Wundows Live Mail and deleted any left over Windows Mail folders left in the Program files and Program(x86) files and reinstalled WinLiveMail using a newly downloaded wlsetup-web.exe Windows Essentials installer, and I am back to exactly the same WinLiveMail situation not retrieving email and popping the same error message copied below.

Unable to send or receive messages for the Phil's Email account. An unknown error has occurred.
Server: 'pop.centurytel.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x80004005
Protocol: POP3

Any help to get WLM to retrieve emails again will be greatly appreciated. CenturyLink has been no help so far.

Hello and happy 2020!
My primary email is associated with my own domain and I have it set up using the Mail app on my iPhone. I seem to have numerous issues with the Mail app acting up and not doing what I need to do. Can anyone recommend a email app that will sync across my iPhone, iPad and windows 10 laptop? Ideally I?d like to be able to work on any device and have them all be up-to-date with all the same data archived in the same folders and subfolders across all the devices.

What would also be great, is if I could have an address book that would also sync across my iOS devices and my Windows machines.
For years I used mozilla Thunderbird on my laptop and I have the address book from that just sitting there but I have never figured out a way to import that data into my iPhone or an address book app that would sync between my windows laptop and my iPhone.

any brilliant suggestions most welcome!

I currently have an android phone and use gsyncit to sync my tasks and calendar with Google calendar and tasks. I then have gmail pulling emails and leaving them on my web site host's email server via POP3. This works fairly well but is the email part is kind of clumsy and I can spend lots of time sorting emails in gmail that are already all sorted on my PC's outlook.

My dream is to have a mini-outlook on a Windows 8 phone and Windows 8 tablet that stays in sync with my Outlook on my PC (and vise versa) via the skydrive cloud service - no more messing with re-filtering email, deleting garbage emails I already deleted on my PC. Things on my new W8 phone and tablet would mirror my PC right down to the filtering rules and folders.

The hub of most of my work is currently Outlook 2007. My thinking is the new Windows 8 phone and tablet with Outlook 2013 and Windows 8 PC would give me super productivity no matter where I am at and what device I am using.

I have been doing a lot of reading on Office 15/Windows 8 and understand it syncs documents across devices but I can't find much about simple, automatic email sync.

So I guess my question is, will there be a common Win8 Outlook app that will allow my to keep in sync across Win8 devices or will I still be stuck in my sync hodgepodge world of Outlook syncing on outlook.com instead of gmail?

A:Windows 8 PC - Tablet - Phone email sync

Hopefully MS will shed some light on Outlook integration during the Windows 8 Phone event on Wednesday. I can't seem to find anything online about this. If there is no cross device Outlook integration with auto syncing, the only plus to a windows 8 phone would be Zune Pass integration. I love Zune pass.

(Posting here because I can see no other suitable heading. Also, if everything worked properly, the link mentioned below would have taken me via my IE7.)

My OS is Windows XP SP2.

I have an email account with an ISP, using M'soft Outlook, and also a Google Mail account. I hardly ever use the GMail, which btw doesn't use Outlook.

A friend who has GMail sent a message with what I believe must have been a link to a newpaper article to my ISP email account. The beginning of the link was:-

When I clicked on it, I was taken not to the article but to my own GMail account of all places. But the message from my friend was not in there. Eventually I got him to send me the article by copying and pasting the text into an email.

What could be going wrong here?

The only thing out of the ordinary I did recently was to uninstal a TV stick, Win TV Nova-T from Hauppage.

Explanations gratefully received.

Hi everyone,
At the risk of appearing naive, are there any webmail services that, as the topic says, are only for email?  Not particularly interested in chat options or other such integrations, just like to keep everything separate.  Currently with Gmail, but having anything to do with them makes me feel like I'm being followed around (I know, privacy is dead, but I like to think I can have some control over things ).  And no, I'm not wearing a tinfoil hat...yet LOL.
Thanks in advance

I have a live.co.uk email address and I added an outlook.com alias, making the latter my primary alias. I noticed that in the Windows 8 Mail app when I selected my Outlook.com account the Inbox showed "Couldn't sync messages". I uninstalled Mail and reinstalled it. The reverse situation is now the case: when I select my Live account the Inbox shows the same message. I think this has only been happening since I updated from 8 to 8.1, but I could be wrong about that. Since I still receive the emails, I suppose it doesn't matter much but I wonder if this should be happening.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello there,

I'm coming to the end of my tether with Windows Live Mail.

I've had this laptop for just over a year and up until about 4 months ago the mail facility provided by Windows 7 was working perfectly. I previously had my 2 Hotmail accounts synced up and receiving and sending emails no problem.

That is until it died - it stopped receiving mail and started giving me error messages, in despair I began to search online for solutions however I either didn't find anything relating to my Vaio model or the things I did find which could possibly have helped, didn't. I tried deleting the accounts and re-syncing them too - error. (I can't remember these error messages or their codes)

I lost all hope as had other problems with slow start up, slow running time, slow mouse etc. and returned to checking my emails through my browser. Recently I got myself in gear and cleaned the system, defragment etc, and the laptop is back to its almost new state, so I thought I'd give Windows Live Mail another shot.

Same problem I think, will not sync the accounts what so ever, even though the nice little message is telling me:

That error is a network connection error message, that is commonly associated with Windows update

What security software are you using, that might be blocking WLM connecting.
Do you have an ad blocker as that can cause it, as can a proxy being set or used

A misconfigured firewall can also cause it as can having malware on teh computer

From the other symptoms, I would guess at malware

I cannot access my work email from home modem router anymore using either Outlook or Webmail, unless I reboot. This happened 2 weeks ago after many years of fine work. It works using 3G or from other places. I haven't changed anything. I called my provider, PlusNet, and they said everything is fine on their side.

I suppose it is my TP-LINK modem router because I recover the access for a few minutes when I reboot it.

I am not very familiar with the technical points. I looked into my modem and didn't find any port filter activated. There is however one fault: ATM OAM End-to-end Ping fails. I don't know what it means.

Hello, I have a laptop with Windows 7 Pro OEM. I need to make a network drive available for the user when they are not on the domain. While in the process of making the files available offline, errors start to appear saying ?The Process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process? (This error Occurs for each file in the directory ? 4400+ files)
I have tried this multiple times with the user logged off and also checked the file server to ensure that any files are not open. But still the same error occurs.
This issue occurs most times when requesting a sync. It has occasionally worked correctly. ie. it made a copy of the files
After I have seen a successful sync I unplug the computer from the network and try to view the files.
Each file in the directory has a cross on the icon.
When opening any of the files I simply get a message saying that it cannot open the file.
I have turned off the Offline files and deleted all temp files and tried to setup the Offline files again twice now but still had the same problem.

Great News Everyone! I did the registry change and it WORKS! Just to outline MS's KB and what I had to do, follow these steps: On the 2003 server I had to ADD this reg entry and set it to 0:
OplocksDisabled REG_DWORD 0 or 1 Default: 0 (not disabled)
And then Changed this entry to 1:
EnableOplocks REG_DWORD 0 or 1 Default: 1 (enabled) You will NEED to restart the server and once that is done it should just work on the Windows 7 Machines, you may need to restart the W7 machines too.  Hopefully this works for anyone else having the same issue. Post your replies if this worked or not!

Okay so first off I would just like to say that this a a very good email service.

The thing is however that when I deleted a few of my messages and tried to recover them they wouldn't appear in the trash.

I logged out and back in, I cleared the cache and cookies and even resetted the browser but no luck. I was using Firefox at the time this happened.

This email service also has an issue with the restore function in the trash. When I tried to recover some emails they wouldnt appear back on the inbox.

Has anyone else experienced these two issues? Is this common with the AOL webmail.

I also used Outlook and Live Mail and thought I should stop using them because they might have been the ones causing the problem to this.

If anyone seems pretty knowledgeable or experienced with this issue I would certainly appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

I forgot to add that I was also using a toolbar from AOL so might this be causing problems?

Anyone know the tech support number?

I am extremely new to Windows 8 (like as of today) so I apologize in advance if I sound stupid in this.

I was handed over a work computer today that runs Windows 8, the previous employee set everything up using her personal email information (IE: the email from the main email envelope is her email, and the calendar feature would add details to her personal calendar not the one for work). She is not set up as a user on the computer at all, but her personal details are linked into the system.

I have searched the help documents everywhere and have gone through settings for the two applications trying to work out how to remove her personal information from the system and replace it with the work information. She doesn't need to see the new schedules or the times that our employees will be out on different jobs. My 3 hours of looking online this evening has brought me here for your help.

Is there a way for me to go in and remove her personal information and replace it with the information for the company? I could sit and question her ethic as an employee for hours as to why she would do it this way, but honestly if her ethic was great, I wouldn't be taking this over at this point. I just need to ensure that the computer is set up for the business not for someone's personal email and calendar and ensure she isn't getting notifications of our future work schedules.

A:Changing email/sync information for Email and Calendar

Just my2cents (no pun intended) but I wouldn't touch anyone's personal information on a computer that was handed over to me by an authorized representative of a company for the sole purpose of conducting business. IMHO, that computer should have been reinitialized by your IT department and all previous personal information should have bee removed. If I were you, I would take it right back to the person that gave it to you and tell them it contains personal information from a previous employee and let them deal with it.

My desktop runs on Vista Home Premium. My laptop runs on Windows 8. All I want to do (this seems so simple) is to be able to see and use my email on both computers. My email address is @embarqmail.com, so I thought if I could use Embarq (now CenturyLink), for my email, I could bypass the issues with non-compatible versions. Not working. I can see the incoming mail on the laptop, but when I select it, it disappears. Shows up on the desktop. Maybe it is simple and I just don't get it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A:email sync

I'm not familiar with that email site. But many of the old reliable pop3 mail programs can do web mail. For example Thunderbird. Instead of "syncing" per se, I would just set Thunderbird on one PC to leave messages on the server for like a week. The "subordinate" computer I would set to 2 days. So I'd end up with 2 copies with no formal syncing. It's fine if you are not charged by the byte. Plus it acts the same from XP to W8. The old new thing.

In the case of web mail if you wish to leave copies on the server "forever" then set Thunderbird to never delete the mail on the server.

You may need to find out if the web mail supports pop3 access and what server name string to use.

Yes, you can use IMAP or ActiveSync/Exchange and all devices will have the same emails. You seem to be using a POP account which has no syncing capability and will need to switch the account over to POP or ActiveSync/Exchange if the email provider supports it or switch email providers.

My grandfather has a Comcast email account but wants to just click his windows live shortcut to access it.
I added a new account to the windows live so he could access his Comcast email.
Currently he has to click the sync button in windows live to pull the emails from Comcast over to windows live.
Is that as good as it gets or is there a setting somewhere that will make the emails received at Comcast show up in windows live without hitting the sync button.
I am assuming he does not have a windows live account because while having it open he is not signed in and all emails sent from windows live show up as being from Comcast.net when they arrive so I don't think forwarding will work.
I hope that makes sense.

A:Quick email sync question

Look in here http://forums.comcast.com/t5/E-Mail-and-Xfinity-Connect-Help/Convert-Comcast-Mail-from-POP-to-IMAP/td-p/1458177 this may be some help

Or You can setup a Google account and linked that to your comcast email and setup google to IMAP to Windows Live.
Comcast doesn't support IMAP function in residential services.
I do have a comcast email address but I prefer to use gmail.com

someone i know has a new laptop with win 8 but he cant use his old mail account on it. his hotmail account works but his online doesnt. anyone got any clues to this?

A:buddy has win 8 cant sync email other than microsoft live

Hello monk,

Please be more specific. I am sorry, but what is an online account other than Hotmail? Hotmail is an online email account that Microsoft uses (along with outlook.com, live.com, etc) for many of their products.

You can use it to log into a computer that has been set up to use it. And you cannot use other email providers for this service. However, if you are speaking about outlook or something else, that is a different matter. I just need some clarity. Let me know!

I am an Outlook 2010 Windows user who syncs my iCloud (desktop) calendar with my iphone and iPad as well as my Outlook 2010 program. Outlook 2010 is getting old.

So, I would like to switch to using Mozilla Thunderbird for desktop email and its Lightning Calendar instead, but I don't see a way to get my iCloud calendar to work easily with Lightning. I like the idea of switching because Thunderbird and Lightning are free, while updating my Outlook 2010 would cost money.

Is there an easy way to get this to work? I know Lighting can work with Google Calendar, but I am a Yahoo! not a Gmail user.

I'm also open to ther solutions...

I have a laptop with outlook 2007 on it and a samsung S4 mini.

I have 2 email addresses, one outlook.com, one hotmail.com

I have a problem where emails on my hotmail.com address seem to just delete off the phone, normally after I have viewed then in outlook 2007.

With outlook open, if I send an email from hotmail to outlook, it appears on my phone, any emails that are sent to hotmail show up in outlook but not on my phone.

1 )What can i do to fix this?

In my account settings

outlook = MAPI
hotmail = POP/SMTP

if that helps

2) is there any way I can delete a message in outlook 2007 and have it delete on my phone, or vice versa

basically I dont want to have to delete every email on my phone and then again in outlook. I also dont want my emails disappearing out of my inbox (or not even getting there!) because I have seen them in outlook or have outlook open.

Hope that makes sense.

A:Email sync problems between outlook and phone

you probably need the hotmail connector for outlook 2007 - so that you are not using POP connection

you need hotmail to be set to imap or EAS

I recently had a tech transfer my MS Outlook info to my new computer. Now my contacts are there but not accessible by mail.

The Contacts Bar on the left at the top has a box My Contacts with a selection either Contacts (which is blank) or Contacts in Personal Folders (which displays all the contacts I am looking for.)

At the bottom on the bar there is a Yellow Contacts Box which shows Open in New Window or Navigation Pane Options. The Open in New window is blank. So it appears I either need to move the contacts out of Personal Folders or Contacts into Personal Folders. Help is appreciated. Frankandstein

Thank you

A:Unable to sync email with contacts MS win 2003

Well the proper way to transfer Outlook info from one computer to the other is to export the PST from the old account, copy it to the new computer and then import it into a matching or new Outlook account. It sounds like it was not done this way and unless you explain in details exactly how it was done I am not sure we can help you. You should also describe which operating systems and versions of Outlook are involved.

I just upgraded to windows 8 and now it tells me that I can't use email that uses POP. I have several cox.net e-mail addresses (all for different purposes) and really don't want to have to use their webmail.
Also, did I lose all my old e-mails because of this? I was not aware of it, esp since it said I could keep all my current settings.
Lastly, I feel lost without my start button and my programs. I guess it's a learning curve, but how do I get my e-mails back?

A:Windows 8 email issues

I think you need to share some more information with us before somebody can really help. I assume that the "it" telling you not to use POP is an email client; which one?

You did an upgrade install of Windows 8 from Vista or Windows 7, right? What email client were you using with the old system?

Does an upgrade install (assuming that's what you did) create a C:\Windows.old folder the way Vista and Windows 7 upgrade installs do? If so, have you looked to see if your email folders are there?

I would like to sync my Firefox, Thunderbird and Windows Live Mail between my desktop and my notebook computer. (And my Vueminder calendar.) What is the best way to do this?

I was think of switching Firefox and Thunderbird to the portable versions and storing them in a folder that syncs online. I'm not sure how it will work with Windows Live Mail. I know how to change where the mail "store" is located, but not sure if changing that will automatically copy everything to the new location. I imagine I will have to copy the current folder to the location that will be synced and then set the mail "store" to this location. Probably something similar with my calendar program.

Can anyone tell me if there are any pitfalls to doing this that I am unaware of?

Also, any recommendations for free online storage/syncing that will work well for this? What should I look for? Reliability and security concerns?

I currently use Dropbox, but I do not have enough free space to use it for my email, browser and calendar data.

I am considering iDrive which offers 10 GB free. I am also considering FileLocker, but that only gives me 5 GB free even though they advertise 25 GB free. (The 25 gb free is for five different users on the same account.) I had been thinking of using SugarSync, but it looks like their free account is now only for 30 days.

Thank you in advance for any advice and recommendations!

I would love to sync emails in my desktop (Windows 7, choice of windows live mail or thunderbird) and laptop (windows vista, choice of windows mail, currently in use and therefore preferable, or thunderbird).

Would it be possible to do it by using a file sharing/sync service like Dropbox? My ideia is to chage the file storage location for my email files in both computers to a folder inside my dropbox.

Will it work? Do Windows Mail (Vista) and Windows Live Mail (7) use the same type of file?

A:sync email in 2 PCs sharing storage files (dropbox)

I use Thunderbird on 2 different machines. What I do is set it to delete the mail on my mail server after 2 days. Then I set it to only download new messages. If I want a copy of the email on both machines I get the mail from the secondary machine before the stuff on the server is deleted. If it's junk mail, I use an email notification app to delete it on the server. Less chance of picking up a nasty if you delete all the crap on the mail server.

Your setup is a bit different. I haven't used DropBox so I can't speak to it in particular.

On 12/22/12 my AOL email was spoofed and for two hours someone sent emails to many people in my address book until I changed my password and became aware of this. I have two computers; one HP with Windows XP SP3 and a 9 month old HP pavilion desktop with windows 7 professional 64 bit. The XP appears to have been unaffected by this. The windows 7 well, I had to re install itunes to newer version and aol to a 9.7. beta version (did not know 64 bit was so hard to get along with) and those programs are running better than ever now, BUT now my MS Word 2000 and 2007 stopped responding, if I even open a word program up the computer freezes and does not respond to any shut down other than manual. During this week I also ran MS Essentials and malware bytes and I downloaded CCleaner and AVG anti virus and PC tuner and all came up clean McAfee is already installed. I use my computer for work with a VPN Broadband connection just FYI they require I keep McAfee (not my favorite) I see that MS says word 2000 is not compatible with win 7 but it worked for me for 9 months??? Any suggestions, I hate to lose all the word documents I wrote under 2000, I have all of them in the XP computer but since I replaced its hard drive and mainframe (2004 build) not sure how many years it has left. I wanted to restore 7 back to earlier date and it said May was only available I thought it set some itself every month, wrong...I will that for now on. I tried many possible fixes such as typing winword/a somethi... Read more

A:windows 7 many issues after email spoofed

Well for starters one should NOT run more than one (1) AV program. You have listed MSE, AVG, and McAfee which are ALL AV programs. You need to get rid of all of them and then install ONLY one of them.

As for the Word 2000 files, they ALL should open just fine with 2007 and should stay as "doc" type until you save them as a "docx" file.

Now the use of PC tuner and CCleaner can mess up ones registry if you use either or both to clean out the registry. If you did this, then you may just be in for a system recover back to factory settings. I would make sure that I had a very good DATA backup if I were you.

Also, would you please not use the "bold" text in your post, it is hard to read.
