Dual boot Hard disk from Lenovo -G series to Lenovo Ehnanced experience 2.0

Q: Dual boot Hard disk from Lenovo -G series to Lenovo Ehnanced experience 2.0

Hello all,I had installed dual boot windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04 on lenovo 50 series. This laptop stoped working after water damage but I managed get the hard disk working. Now, I have got another laptop with 500GB hard disk, Lenovo 50-80 Ehnanced experience 2.0, thinkpad, windows 7. So I removed its hard disk and installed the dual boot one, but only windows 10 start, no options for selecting the ubuntu Os and Windows (grab loader or windows loader). Do I have to make changes in settings?. so that ubuntu OS can be detected, and use it. It is most important one, since all my works are in this Os. Thank you in advance for your help.regardsHuu

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Lenovo 3000 J desktop that wont boot. As a point of reference, I try to hit the F1 key as the manual suggest and the F12 key as many have suggested and get nothing but clicking. I am not able to see anything on the monitor although I do know that it is working as I can see the no signal message. The light on the DVD/CD drive does flash but seem to get hung there. I recognize this is an older unit and If ican get it booted up will save all files to a remote drive and replace. Any ideas or help is appreciated BB

hi Braddburm,

Welcome to the Forums.

It looks like the onboard VGA port gave out. Try to:
1. Use a discrete graphics card to output your video (i.e. pci or low profile pci-e graphics card)
2. If option 1 is not possible and you're considering a replacement machine, you will need a 3.5 HDD sata enclosure to convert the internal HDD to an external HDD to read the data on the new replacement machine.

Recently, my optical drive on my t430 broke. I had an old drive that I salvaged from an old HP laptop, and I replaced it with that. The drive works, But there is a small issue. My boot time got INCREDIBLY slow. Not the windows boot, the POST screen. It's stuck on the screen with the Lenovo logo for over two minutes. it eventually boots, and as far as i can tell, windows is fine. is there a way to fix this?

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

Hey everyone. I'm wondering how safe it would be to dual boot Linux on this machine (I'm not entirely sure of the distro yet) due to the hidden partition that OneKey works from? Ideally I want to leave that intact, or in the case it was accidentally destroyed have a way to restore it. Furthermore: if I created a recovery disc set via OneKey from Windows, would it backup the hidden partition as well, so that in the event the hidden partition is accidentally destroyed, the hard drive will be reimaged to factory conditions?

I am trying to install a windows 7 / XP dual boot on a Lenovo 550P I recently purchased. I have had no problems setting up a new partition and formatting it, but whenever I try and install XP on it, I get partway through the installation process and always get a blue screen of death. It tells me that there is a hard drive error.

To test this, I installed a copy of Vista 64 on the partition with no problems. I wiped the drive and started again with XP and had the same problem.

I am now wondering if there is an incompatability between XP and the hardware in my system. The system specs are:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i7 720QM(1.6GHz)
Chipset: Intel PM55
HDD: 500 GB
Memory: 4 GB

I am wanting the XP OS so I can use my old 32 bit compilers. I have considered reformating the entire drive and making it an XP machine, but do not know if there is an intrensic incompatibility between XP and the hardware.
thanks.

A:Lenovo laptop dual boot problem

welcome to sevenforums!
Where did you get your windows xp cd? If you downloaded that cd from utorrent, there is a small chance that the cd isn't bootable or corrupted.
Also, I have had similar experience on my HP g70. It wouldn't install windows xp no matter what I try. I cannot run the installer from windows of course (application hard block) and whenever it boots up, it would have a disk warning.
I think that some manufacturers include something in their bios to make sure the system is stuck with vista or beyond, or that perhaps, the new hardware available in the nine years since xp made its entrance, made the xp incompatible. I mean, can your xp recognize your cpu or chipset?
Perhaps the only possible method would be to run xpfrom a virtual machine.
Judging from your system configuration, virtualization wouldn't be that bad, it would run pretty well
Thus, my suggestion would be to install windows 7 and simply run it from XP Mode. For that, you will need a copy of windows 7 professional or ultimate (tad bit more expensive than home premium). Or you can buy a home premium and install something like virtualbox.
Seriously xp, is more trouble than its worth. Even if you manage to install it, you will need a TON of times getting all the drivers for it. Xp doesn't have generic or native drivers so you will need a flash drive to store the drivers lol. Windows 7, however, has generic drivers for almost all modern hardware, so you will ahve a better "out of box" exp... Read more

I've just had a new Lenovo Core i5 g500 arrive to test during Best Buy's 2 week return policy period. I've shrunk C, updated to latest BIOS, reset BIOS Boot tab to DIsable Secure Boot, UEFI choice. I then can only get into BIOS menu via Windows 8 Advanced Startup settings since no hotkeys respond, choose UEFI Flash stick to boot, this message flashes: "EFI device has been blocked by current Security policy."

So I reenter BIOS through 8, change to Legacy Support with UEFI First boot. When I reboot into BOot choices it shows the Kingston USB2 stick in both UEFI and Legacy boot choices. I choose UEFI and it gives the missing driver error. Can't choose Legacy because it would want to delete and reformat as MBR.

Before on an Asus discussed here http://www.eightforums.com/general-s...t-seven-2.html I made the Paragon 12 boot disk to image entire HD before wiping to install 7 but it wasn't necessary because I was able to install in the shrink space even though 8 wasn't bootable (a great position to be in). Is this possible on Lenovo? Anyone?

A:New Lenovo G500 need to install 7 in Dual Boot with Ate

Got it. Somehow the Rufus flash stick installer had gone bad as proven when I tried it in another UEFI machine. I reformatted it and was able to install in Legacy with UEFI First.

Once other weird thing is that the latest Lenovo BIOS kept changing back to Secure Boot after each attempt, as though it recognized I hadn't installed another OS and was re-securing 8. Now we'll see if it does it again after Win7 boot up, and if 7/8 can each boot under Legacy.

I have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to configure this laptop to dual boot Windows 7 and 8.1, unless anyone knows better. The issue seems to be with the BIOS settings which appear to be mutually exclusive to booting either Windows 7 or Windows 8.x ? but not both.

Whether opting for a MBR or GPT configuration, or installing Windows 8 directly from USB media or within Windows 7 the issue remains.

I ?downgraded? the pre-installed, bloatware ridden Windows 8.1 on this laptop to a clean install of Windows 7 Pro with no problems using default Windows 7 BIOS settings (Win 7 OS, load default settings) on a 500GB partition using DISKPART as per directions on this site. The problem occurs when trying to install Windows 8.1 on the remaining unallocated 500GB partition on my hard drive using these Windows 7 optimised BIOS settings. When booting 8.1 directly from USB (downloaded 8.1 ? same version - using Windows media creation tool as I have OEM key in BIOS) the installation will freeze (no mouse pointer) on the initial ?select keyboard layout? screen. If I attempt an installation from within Windows 7 it?ll get as far as to when it reboots then hang.

Sure, I can load Windows 8 optimised settings in BIOS and then install 8.1. Problem is then when I select 7 from the bootloader, booting will freeze during the formation of the Windows logo with a BSD 0xA5 BIOS in system not fully ACPI compliant.. error ? and there?s no ACPI settings in BIOS. What happens to UEFI and CSM when you choose Win7 optimized default? Can you wipe the HD to remove all code then boot Win7 as a UEFI device, install it to first partiiton, then boot Win8 as UEFI device and install to second partition? What exact error or failure do you get?

What if you set CSM enabled and first to boot, then try the above?

What if you set CSM enabled, first to boot, and then load Win7 optimized defaults?

Are there other choices besides Win8 and Win7 optimized defaults?

What are the exact CSM, Legacy BIOS, BIOS Boot order settings available after turning off Secure Boot. Pictures would help. Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums - Windows 7 Forums

Hi RGN007 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Calling technical support would be able to decode error WHD01V00M-DL7W5M using specific internal tools but as it is very evident at the moment with the described performance issue , you may need to replace the harddrive.

S.M.A.R.T. test is a harddrive integrity measure to alert users to backup their files as much as they can to avoid data loss before everything breaks down and make the harddrive unbootable.

Check your warranty and give technical support a call for replacement harddrive.

A:Lenovo P50 dual boot finger print issue

I'm sorry, but I wouldn't expect it to work.  In Windows 10, everything is integrated into the operating system and that is designed to work with the UEFI BIOS.  The product is called Windows Hello.

With Windows 7, it is entirely different.  The software is an add-on from Lenovo and there is very little real operating system support.  Microsoft never fixed windows 7 to work with Windows Hello.

A:Lenovo g505s hard disk not detected

Hi NeddyNelson ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can try to reset the BIOS default and check if BIOS will detect the harddrive.
It may be the the harddrive itself is bad , so if you have another harddrive to test it with just to islate if BIOS would detect another harddrive.

Hope you manage to abck up your data , you may slave the harddrive in an enclosure and test it on another pc to diagnose its integrity .

I have a new Lenovo E540 preloaded with OEM Win7 PRO 64 bit ... and no discs

Q1: How do I make a recovery disc of the current Win7 PRO 64bit ?
- I have never done it before .. a recovery virgin.

So far ... when the Lenovo was started the OS was registered with MS but I declined any upgrades until the PC is carefully prepared and imaged before any use and exposure to the internet.
- registration of the OS was unavoidable because the Lenovo took possession as soon as the PC was booted.

The Lenovo is a clean machine , so I want it properly setup and imaged to simplify future maintenance.

Q2: At what point do I create partitions for ... ?
1. Win7 PRO
2. Linux OS -- Mint

Q3: For testing downloads should I create a dedicated test partition or just use a SandBoxie tool ?

Else where in this forum I read a post by Greg Rocker recommending to uninstall all the Toshiba crapware BUT I noticed that he recommended that some Toshiba stuff be retained.
Previously (again in this forum) I have read to dump branded laptop OEM all together and just use a generic OEM on a laptop.

I would be grateful for any guidance. Thank you

It has been giving KERNAL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR quite frequently for the past week or so (almost daily). At first I suspected issue 3 to be due to the RAM, as I have received notifications to reduce running programs in the past, but the memory diagnosis showed no problems. So, I ran a hardware scan on Lenovo Solution Center and it failed the Targeted Read Test.I went through some event logs and the issue "The device, \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block." has showed up several times too."The device UMDF HID minidriver Device (location (unknown)) is offline due to a user-mode driver crash. Windows will attempt to restart the device 4 more times. Please contact the device manufacturer for more information about this problem." came up too, I suspect due to my laptop crashing with KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR.However, Speccy and SeaTools for Windows showed no issues.May I know how I should go about this? I understand that my hard disk most li... Read more

Last night, I fell asleep while using my laptop and later I guess the laptop went to sleep automatically. After I woke up, I turned on the laptop and the Hard disk started making sounds and the Windows crashed AGAIN!.. Prior to this, Few days ago, my laptop suddenly stopped working, I tried to format it but the computer found no bootable device. So, I went to the BIOS configuration setup and found that Hard disk is not detected. Then I went to the store from where I bought Lenovo Ideapad Y700 and they changed the Hard disk. It worked, but now after 15 days, I am having the same problem all over again.

Hi everybody!
I hope somebody help me...

I bought the new laptab LENOVO B50-80 FreeDos:
Processor: Intel Core i3-4005U Dual Core Processor (3MB Cache, 1.7GHz)
RAM: 4GB DDR3L 1600MHz
Hard Drive: 500GB Hard Disk Drive
Graphics Card: Intel HD Graphics 4400
Bios: insydeh20 rev 5.0 (without advanced setting!)

I tried to install the "Windows 8.1", but during a installation i got an error (We couldn?t find any drives. To get a storage driver, click Load Driver.)
I checked in Bios, and I saw "Hard Disk: Not Detected"

I thought maybe update the Bios helps solve the problem and searched for it, but in official website I found just an ".exe" file for updating Bios.

Please Help me,
I can solve this problem, OR it is the hardware failure and I have to turn back and take a new one?

Thank you in advance for your attention.

Hi, I did a hard disk drive scan using Lenovo solution center diagnostics tool but ended up in failure. The result was very evident as the system started responding poor and Alt+ctrl+del doesn't work and every action is taking longer than normal time to complete. I still have extended warranty of 58 days left. I got my laptop in India but imported from Thailand. I am currently residing in Australia. I dialed Australia customer care and they are conveyed that I need to contact Thailand Customer Care for this. Being a global company I didn't expect as I was expecting a quick solution.  Can one of you, please let me know what needs to be done in this regard. Regards,Shan.
