I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Since I got my laptop there has been a problem with screen backlight bleed in the bottom left-hand corner of the display. It is clearly noticeable when in a dark environment, showing dark content on the screen or when the screen brightness is turned up high, however, it is not that noticeable in normal use. Lenovo has offered a repair but I am interested in hearing whether people think this is worth it. I am worried that after the inconevience of backing up all my data and sending my laptop away, the repair will not make much difference to the issue, as it affects nearly all laptops so some degree. Does anyone have any experience with getting this kind of issue repaired and if so was it worth it?

Did u ever send it in for repair? I got 3 of the 710 laptops and 2 have really bad bleed but the 1 I kept is a lot better with just a little bleed in the lower left. Same boat as you. Lenovo offered repair but I'm hesitant it might come back worse.

I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

Hello I just got my new Yoga 920 - really liking it so far. There is a small amount of backlight bleed at the bottom of the screen - it's something I can live with, but considering it's a top of the line machine and cost a lot of money, is any amount of backlight bleed acceptable? I'm not sure if I should consider returning it and getting a new one, and risk getting one that is even worse. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Many thanks Zack

I just purchased a yoga 710 11.6" model and the first one had a good amount of backlight bleed coming through on three corners. Enough that I went in for an exchange. My second unit looks much better but still has a bit of bleeding in the lower left corner. Not really visible in normal tasks, but I notice it on boot up and any dark images/videos especially when viewed in a dark room. Of course it lessens with brightness, but is still there.  Is this acceptable or should I have it exchanged/replaced? I'd hate to do an exchange and get an even worse unit in return. This one isn't thaaaat bad, but I still notice it. The image is also a bit exaggerated from the camera and doesn't look as bad in person. Opinions?

I decided the very first time to test use the 360 hinge and made it like a tablet and it sort of messed up the perfect full hd screen. Light bleed was very noticeable from every corner and  I couldnt enjoy the dark themed movie. Picture relates.Should I be conserned or does this happen on every 710?

Wow thats bad. I never would of bought the laptop if the screen looked like that in the reviews. The current screen has no light bleed. Looks like they cheeped out on the new screens. This issue will probably cost them millions. I'm curious as to why it goes away in the bios if it is a screen issue though.

Dear all, I would like to upgrade the touchscreen on the Thinkpad Yoga 260 - I have the 1366x768 model (a long and annoying story!) and I really want the 1080 screen - for obvious reasons. I am relatively technically competent (I'm a tinkerer) and have carried out these sorts of procedures on other laptops in the past. Which brings me to my question... Having upgraded the screen on a T450 and run into the problem of the display driver not accepting the new screen (some issue relating to EDIDs, or something like that) (https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/3t3z1d/lenovo_t450_lcd_replacement_cant_change_brightness... Am I going to encounter the same problem with the Yoga 260? Or potentially worse given that there are touch-screen issues involved too? Looking around at replacement panel assemblies they instruct not to use if the present resolution is wrong (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12-5-FHD-LCD-LED-Touch-Screen-Assembly-for-Lenovo-ThinkPad-Yoga-260-1920X1...) - it is just these particular panels, or am I screwed? Any success stories would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tim

After reading through dreaded black screen issue for other models, I am checking if the Thinkpad Yoga also has the black screen issue. Given that this happened barely inside a month after the warranty expired, this has solid changes to be the last lenovo product in the family. Issue: I returned one home from work to wake up my sleeping Lenovo. Noticed it seemed to be in a dark screen mode with nothing showing up. So tried to press a few buttons and then finally powered off using the button. Upon restart, I could see the Lenovo sign and option to press Enter to check other options and I ignored like usual happy path scenario and let it go. At the time it usually starts showing the Windows screens, I see nothing happen. A dark screen with all the keyboard lights still working but no screen. Connected to projector to see if the login screen shows but it did NOT. Tried to restart few times, reset using the pinhole at the bottom, ran diagnositcs and tried to refresh system etc using the troubleshoot options, checked the BIOS settings - all of which show up on screen and the LCD test pass like a charm but the Windows boot does not work. Thinkpad Yoga 15 running on Windows 10 pro. 20DQ machine type. The frustarting thing is warranty just expired end of July, phone support wont even discuss the issue since it is expired. I searched the web and found for other devices, and solutions varying from returns to software based methods (of which I am dubious). Before I returned the device, I wanted to post here to get any input. Hi,I have a 2nd generation Thinkpad Yoga 12.5 inch notebook. I have had this computer for about 18 months and the screen is completely ruined in many places. I have the matte screen and it appears that the pen has been scratching the soft matte finnish at many places. There are also big smudges from the keyboard that does not go away when I try to clean the screen. I am happy with this laptop overall, but I think it is terrible design to fail to make sure that the screen and keyboard is not touching when the lid is closed! Is it possible to fix these screen issues? Looking at the corner of the the screen, it looks like there is a screenprotector or similar on the device. Is this how Lenovo makes their matte screens? Just pasting a screen protector on top of a glossy screen? If so, would it be possible for me to remove it without damaging the actual screen and get rid of the scratches and smudges? Cheers Cheers

Hi, I just received my Yoga and it looks and feels great. However, there seems to be some sort of foil over the screen, that doesn't quite cover the screen edge to edge. It stops around maybe 0.5mm from the end of the glass panel. It also appears to give the display some sorty of milky grey collor when turned off. I was wondering if this is part of the digitizer, a protective or anti-glare foil, or something else entirely? I first thought it was the kind of screen protector you see on phones when you first buy them, but there's no latch to take it of, and it seems to be glued to the display rather well. Can anyone enlighten me?

Current ThinkPad: S1 YogaFormer ThinkPads: T21, X30, SL300, T60p

A:ThinkPad Yoga screen foil?

it is a layer of pre-applied screen protector. It's for anti-glare and protective purpose. It's possible to remove it but requires patience and effort as its strongly glued to the screen during production. From what I understood any fault related with the removal of the screen protector is not covered by the warranty.

My x1 yoga ThinkPad 2nd gen is having a bad display, split screen type of problem! The left edge of what would normally be the edge of monitor screen is stuck in almost the middle of the screen and the desktop background as well as any windows that are open are split up and continued from the right side of screen over to the left, even the pointer from the mouse is following the same behavior. The proportions aren't even centered exactly at split more like 60/40. It reminds me of one of those old big monitors where you can manually adjust the screen and center the display. Well I can't seem to find the setting to adjust for this anywhere, any help here would be greatly appreciated! Also it's having other display issues as well. The color will be insanely bright and distorted and will show ''Lava" not sure what causes this now and then either. The problem are about to make this computer unusable. Also the operating system on this when I got it is Manjaro Linux, don't really know how to use this but that's what's on it right now. Just trying to save me an awesome computer I got for a good deal. Thanks for your help!

I haven't seen any topics that seem to quite replicate the specific problem I have, so here I am.Without warning, the screen of my Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 11e tablet-notebook will turn black. It appears to be an "active" black rather than the screen turning wholly off. The rest of the computer is working normally during these times: audio carries on, keyboard and mouse input function, and nothing else seems to shut down or turn off. Keyboard, mouse, or touchscreen input causes the screen to return to normal briefly, but the only way to make it stop happening for sure is to restart the computer. I don't think it's connected to sleep functions, given that it happens while I'm actively using the computer.I don't know exactly why this happens, but it usually happens after long periods of use. At least once it has happened within an hour or so of being turned on for the first time that day, but I had a great deal of Chrome tabs open and that may have been similarly taxing. While this problem is not exactly disastrous, it is pretty annoying and well outside the acceptable boundaries of computer behavior, especially for a device I have had for only a few months. I would greatly appreciate help in rectifying this problem.

Hi, Today I updated BIOS to 1.38 version and then my touch screen was suddenly gone. I read all related posts here and now I am convinced that it is the problem because of the BIOS update. Because I am using my X1 Yoga as a touch machine for my work, I checked right after my BIOS update and it is not working. I tried downgrade and windows rollback but it did not turn back. My warranty is over but it is not my fault for sure. Hallo,Judging by users of Thinkpad P50 and P70 in this forum it seems that screen problems are not that unusual. My own experience is that the screen of my P40 died within a week of the purchasing it. I sent it in for repairs only to receive the message "the repair procedure has stopped due to unavailability of spare parts". That was two weeks ago.Lenovo: if you launch a new model it would be wise to see to it that you have stocked up on spare parts, ESPECIALLY those that are prone to failure, i.e. screens. As of now, I am clueless when I will receive it back, and I desperately need it now (preferably yesterday) for my work. That's why I bought a workstation for PREMIUM MONEY! So, prospective buyers bear this issue in mind if you need a reliable workstation. Aatje

Hi Everyone! I have a Thinkpad Yoga 12 and recently I am experiencing a rather serious problem with the machine. If I have a drive in it, it will simply not start the booting process and will freeze on the "press enter to interrupt..." screen. Whenever I remove the disk (SSD) the computer starts and I can access BIOS/Diagnostics/Etc. but when reinserting the SSD everything stops and the computer freezes on start. This problem is very annoying because without a proper boot I cannot update the BIOS or do anything with it at all. Did anyone else experience something similiar?I checked the SSD in a different computer and it works without a problem.

A:Thinkpad Yoga stuck on boot screen

Hanging on startup with a disk inserted would most likely indicate either a bad SSD or a bad SATA control circuit (motherboard).  If the disk is OK, that leaves only one part.

So, My ThinkPad Yoga 14 (20DM) has this issue where randomly, there will be randomly screen presses across the screen. This will usually click some link I didn't want to, so it disrupts my workflow. I don't have a precise  way to replicate it, but it feels like maybe it's related to when the laptop is hot? I  don't know. Anyway, in practice, this effect looks just like an issue that occurred for Yoga 3 14s (see here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-3-14-inch-Touch-Screen-Issues/m-p/214... and https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/SF15-I0024 )UNFORTUNATELY, the fix for that laptop model is designed for LG screen panels. Since the ThinkPad Yoga 14 doesn't have one of these panels, the fix will not run for this laptop. Is there a similar fix for this laptop?

Hi I have a Thinkpad TP 14 - 20DM008UUS  and I didn't experience that issue. Can you share your full model number and which Windows version are you using? Just my thoughts... When you said " randomly screen presses across the screen" do you think it cames from the touchscreen? Did you see some "screen animation" like the circle that Windows produce when you touch the screen, or the cursor moving when your issue happens? Maybe it can give you hints on where is the problem. Do you think it can be the Touchpad that when you move your fingers or when you have your palm over it? Or is happens  when you are typing? Since I'm a driver freak, I always try to stay up to date with the firmware and drivers for the machine. If you want to you can also try to update the drivers with Lenovo System Update first. Regartds

Hello everyone, I received my P40 Yoga only two or three months ago, and I'm highly concerned about one problem I have. There's an extreme count of small white dots (d?2mm) all over the screen. They are significantly brighter that the rest of the screen, although colors of pixels behind are untouched. Also, when I'm touching/pressing near them nothing happens, although they disappear when dark/black images are covering them. Brightness of the dots seems to be constant relative to the brightness of the screen. That means if I turn screen brightness down, they become less bright too.First spots have emerged just after a week of use, but I ignored them. They were (and still are) in the left bottom part of the screen. Now practically most of the screen is covered with dots. Though, I think, there's a bit more dots on the bottom of the screen than there's on top of the screen. Also, it's very unpleasant to see more 'constellations' on a relatively expensive laptop, than I can see on the sky. At the moment, I can't contact my local service center due to certain circumstances. But do you think it is covered by warranty? Or if it isn't, can you please tell me, how can I find the model number of the 1440p IPS screen? Just as an example, there is a photo of a small area of the screen that has the problem attached to this post.

Hi everyone, I purchased my laptop few years ago, but I've never fix this problem.however I've search so many time and tried everything. the best result I got is a usable drawing fluidity but only on small canvas with simple brushes (with or without smoothing don't really changes anything by the way) basically I can not make hatching without the lag appears after a few brush strokesbut the very weird thing is that the lag only exists with the pen on display !!!   So I work on a very old tablet (bamboo) and there is no problem, my giga huge files is not the real problem I think, because in a new tiny document, the problem persist (less but still laggy)I think I've already seen all the internet trouble topics and never find a solution, I realy try to fix it by myself before asking everywhere... but i'm going crazy about that.specs :Thinkpad yoga 14"  ( 20FY0002US )I5 6200 U 8go ramwin 10 homephotoshop cc2018wintab driver (i've tried differents version and no difference... so i let the recommended 7.3.2-14)i've got also biy a thinkpad pro pen 2 but same thing.i tried to launch ps with admin right, change preferences, allow more disk, create virtual ram, and so many thing i forget, but nothing apparently change.. I don't want to give up because the display painting is the unique thing that could make this laptop very usefull, i'm a professional concept artist and working with obsolete hardware (i'm takling abou... I started facing this issue a month or two ago - When I try to connecting to a device (TV, Projector) with a MS Display Adapter, my laptop freezes. I dont recieve any error messages and I have to hold down the power and do a 'hard boot'.  After this hard/reboot, I can connect to the wireless display.  This happens everytime and with different Wireless Display Adapters. I need to present in meetings a handful times each week and right now the only solution I have is to connect, have it freeze, do a hard boot, then it will usually connect normally. However, if I try to disconnect and connect again, I will face the same issues of a total freeze. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do or what could be causing this?

Hi,I suddenly noticed that my touch screen is not working. I have tried to update driver for HID-compliant touch screen (however best driver was alread used). Also tried to disable/enable the device but still no function. I checked the "Events" for the driver and the last event was "Device not migrated" with the following message:"Device HID\VID_056A&PID_504A&Col06\6&2fac5222&0&0005 could not be migrated.Last Device Instance Id: {DEA5AE2A-D1FD-438A-A091-CBD484788436}\Vid_0000&Pid_0000\5&18534b98&0&02Class Guid: {745A17A0-74D3-11D0-B6FE-00A0C90F57DA}Location Path: Migration Rank: 0xF000FFFFFFFFF122Present: trueStatus: 0xC0000719" The pen driver seem to work though. I noticed that outside the visible area on the screen there is a small crack in the glass. Can that cause the touch screen to not function? Regards, Torsten

I have ben dealing with problems with this touch screen since I got the laptop.  It has been continuously ghosting, while it got better after the June update, it still ghosts without touches, until you start using the touch screen.  When using the touch screen it starts drawing gray lines in between the point im touching and the point its ghosting to (the lines arent always direct). I recently wiped my the drive, reimaged to a backup from april and tried reupdating it.  When I got to the touch screen drivers, I got through the initial setup and told it to open the update when finished but the machine froze.  Now when I try to reinstall, I get to the finish page on the update tools install, have it open the updater, but the program immediately closes.Any help would be much appreciated.

When the machine posts before it boots into whatever OS was on your system, does it look normal there? If so, someone probably botched the linux install. Go back to factory defaults and then fiddle on your own. Go tohttps://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ca/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-... Hit Access Recovery Media Download the recovery media for your system and install windows.
