where can I find SURT tool to kick w7 updates

Q: where can I find SURT tool to kick w7 updates

I understand that this SURT is supposed to resolve the eternal "searching for updates" so I would be extremely please if someone could tell me where this marvel can be found
Thanks a lot for your time

Preferred Solution: where can I find SURT tool to kick w7 updates

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: where can I find SURT tool to kick w7 updates

I don't know about SURT but the following will resolve the Windows update problem.

Follow these instructions exactly.
First, set Windows Updates to never check for Updates.
Next reboot your computer, then install KB3020369, if not installed.
Then install KB3172605.

Windows updates should return to normal. You can then reset your updates to automatically check for updates if desired

For the last two months I have been having to reinstall the same win updates over & over?-
Now its the Windows Malicious Software Removal tool that keeps coming up, and as soon as I install it
the updt icon immediately pops up saying updates are ready for your computer (over & over)?

I tried to download the Win7 32-bit SURT tool from your forum link, but it says it's Not available?

A:Can't download SURT tool to fix...?

The most likely reason for the MSRT to repeat is that it crashed at some point.
The most likely reason for that, is that the machine is infected.
Try this link for the CheckSUR tool...

Download System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 (KB947821) [October 2014] from Official Microsoft Download Center

Please help me in solving a windows update failure. I have windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64.

The two windows updates that fail are
System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 (KB947821)
any Microsoft.NET framework both 4.5.2 (KB2901983) and 4.6.1 (KB3102433)

I found a similar thread and followed the steps in it, but no joy.
Performed SFC /scannow, but the WRP did not find any integrity violations. I tried to run the SURT tool (same tool as KB947821) by a manual download and run but it reports the "hotfix failed to install". So I don't have a SURT tool log to submit.

What's the next step?

I can't check for Windows 7 Updates. I get an error saying that the service isn't running, even when it is (I checked services.msc). I tried running SURT, but I get an error 0xc8000247. I tried sfc /scannow, didn't work. CBS logs are attached. Thanks.

A:Can't check for updates, SURT fails.

You're probably also getting a 'non-genuine' error??

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

How's that for a Topic?

I first noticed the problem while trying to install QuickBooks.
It complained about the .NET framework.
When I went to Add/Remove Windows components, it was blank.
I googled and studied more.
I tried SFC /scan now. "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation."
Notice Application log is full of 1001 - Windows Error reporting with the following:

SURT appears to install, but really doesn't run.
There are more symptoms, but that's enough for starters.

Hello, I recently replaced a defective HDD in my laptop with a new WD Black 750G HDD, re-installed my Windows 7 image using my recovery DVDs, but can't seem to update Windows OR start Windows Defender (error 0x8e5e0247). I followed the steps from "Windows Update Posting Instructions" and am listing the results:-

1. System Update Readiness Tool installation resulted in error:0xc8000247.

2. Also performed SFC Scan three separate times and received the same "WRP found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them." (see attached CBS)

When I manually try to install updates, I get "Windows Update cannot check for updates because the service is not running. Restart your computer." But if look in local services (Task Manager) Windows Update is started & running.

Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.
PS: There were some programs included in the restore, Norton AV being one of them. I uninstalled it, then downloaded the Norton Removal Tool & ran that as well. I'm mentioning this because it was recommended several times in other threads regarding this same error.

Windows Update spins forever on "checking for updatse". The Win Update Troubleshooter gives error 0x8024402C. I have tried numerous fixes including some KBs - no success.

Today I tried steps 1 and 2 that you recommend should be run before posting on this problem.

1. The SURT installer has been spinning > 3 hrs on "searching for updates on this computer".

2. I ran "sfc /scannow". It says "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them" and refers to CBS.log - but that is an empty file.

Can anyone advise me?

I have done 3 clean installs. It said it found 221 updates when I first checked, resatarted and it says I have only 6 updates installed and when I check for updates it says I am up to date, which I cannot be, with only 6 updates!!!

Troubleshooter said it couldn't find anything. I have went through multiple steps that include stopping Windows update service and restarting, deleting Software distribution, etc. NOTHING works, at all. This is crazy. I went from 8.1 to 10 and it checks and says I am up to date, but I am not, I only have a few updates. What the hell is going on? Is there NO Way I can download the latest updates to a disk and install that way? Not one "fixit" actually fixes anything and the trouble shooter is worthless too! It is a Dell Inspiron 4gb RAM 64 bit. This is nuts and I have never had this issue, for this long. It literally checked for updates for 3 days and nothing. Now it checks and says I am up to day, with only 6 updates installed

I tried this
net stop wuauserv

net stop cryptSvc

net stop bits

net stop msiserver

ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old

net start wuauserv

net start cryptSvc

net start bits

net start msiserver

I did a complete re-install, then a reset, nothing I am still getting the service registration missing or corrupt. I have stopped and restarted the services, made sure they are automatics, etc. What the hell is going on!!

A:Cannot find IE Repair tool

Hi and welcome to TSF.

Here's a shortcut describing what you need:

If you want us to have a peek at your problem, which may be spyware-related, do this:

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. The result.txt file will open up in Notepad. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. We do not need the original hijackthis.log (unless we ask for it). Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

If not, download this zip file. Being a Mozilla Firefox convert, the only times that I use IE 6.0 is when I have to use a website that does not work with Firefox 1.0PR, or with Firefox in general. The prime example of this, and the reason I'm having to write this plea for help, is Windows Update (www.windowsupdate.com).

Whenever I check for updates, it scans and lists the needed updates all right, but when the download dialog appears, nothing happens. Once, I had it work for almost 7 hours overnight while I slept and by the morning, nothing had download. It was still saying "Preparing to download." Perhaps IE is punishing me for switching? LOL Just kidding, although I wouldn't put it past Microsoft to do that to people who set a competitor's browser as their default.

So, now I get the list of updates that I need and download them from the Microsoft Download Center (www.microsoft.com/downloads). However, I would like to get the Critical Update Notification tool, but all the places that I've visited that talk about the Critical Update Notification tool say that it is only available off of Windows Update. Microsoft Downloads does not offer the CUN at all, at least not to any of my knowledge.

Can anyone help me?

Hi after i start PC i see WmiPrvSE.exe consume 48% of CPU time, after about 10min it calm down i checked my pc with hijackthis and sfc and lspfix but found nothing bad i know WmiPrvSE.exe runs for many tools but is there a chance to find what tool/software/driver exactly execute WmiPrvSE.exe? I could disable services one by one at registered boot but there are a lot of them so fastest way could be read which services "want" WmiPrvSE.exe after PC reboot.

A:How to find which software/tool execute WmiPrvSE.exe?

You might be able to fix this issue by restarting the ?Windows Management Instrumentation? service. Click Start, type Services in the search box, hit Enter. Under Services (Local), scroll down until you find the ?Windows Management Instrumentation? service. Click to highlight and select Restart.

It's also possible that a virus or malware got onto your machine and is disguising itself as WmiPrvSE.exe. Have you run a full scan with your anti-virus of choice? You could also use the free Malwarebytes as a second opinion scanner.

Microsoft also has a free tool called Process Explorer. (It's kinda like Task Manager on steroids.) It offers a much greater analysis of what process is running and what's using it. You don't even have to install it. You can run it directly from the live link at Run Process Explorer now from Live.Sysinternals.com.

Hi there, I upgraded to office 2002 from office 2000. I use outlook 2002 now. When I try to search through all the email messages in my inbox for a word that I know is in a bunch of the emails, outlook doesn't find any. I used to have outlook 2000 do a search and find them with no problem.

I did notice if I search through emails that are saved locally on the computer suchas my archived inbox, drafts ect. it finds the emails no problem. I am retrieving me emails off a windows 2000 advanced server.

So it appears that all the emails coming from the server are the ones outlook 2002 can't find. I tried a couple things: I took out the find tool from the tools menu and then put it back. I reinstalled outlook 2002. But it didn't help.
Hopfully I am not the only one with this problem. I hope it is fixable and not just a glitch on microsofts side. Thank you

How to temporarily prevent a Windows or driver update from reinstalling in Windows 10

"In Windows 10, your device is always kept up to date with the latest features and fixes. Updates and drivers are installed automatically, with no need to select which updates are needed or not needed. In rare cases, a specific driver or update might temporarily cause issues with your device, and in this case you will need a way to prevent the problematic driver or update from reinstalling automatically the next time Windows Updates are installed."

Hello. Question - when Microsoft releases cumulative patches for Windows 10, does the Media Creation Tool get updated, too? Or does it get updated only for major build releases (e.g. Threshold 2)? Thanks in advance.

SUPPORT.MICROSOFT.COM - How to temporarily prevent a Windows or driver update from reinstalling in Windows 10

(SOURCE) HOWTOGEEK.COM - How to Uninstall and Block Updates and Drivers on Windows 10

"Microsoft doesn?t provide a way to block updates from within Windows 10, but it does provide a downloadable tool to do this. This effectively allows you to ?hide? updates like you could on Windows 7.

If you want to temporarily prevent Windows from automatically downloading and installing any updates, you can do it without using the above tool to block updates. Just set your current Internet connection as ?metered? and Windows won?t download updates while connected to it ? at least until you tell Windows the connection isn?t metered anymore."

Hi all
I can't understand why we keep getting updates for MS's software Malicious removal tool once MSE has been installed since it deprecates that piece of software -- or at least I thought it did.

Is it used in the MSE Engine or what is its purpose once MSE is installed and working.

A:Malicious software removal tool updates even when MSE installed

Because computers can appear to function normally when infected, it's a good idea to run this tool regularly even if your computer seems to be fine. You should also use up-to-date antivirus software, such as Microsoft Security Essentials, to help protect your computer from other malware.

Reading around, it seems like everyone seems to have issues getting updates to install.

This is on a freshly installed copy of 7 Pro x64 SP1.

And here it fails later (it only tries to install 3 updates. the Update readiness tool spends awhile using a single core of my computer to install only to fail)

Thanks for any help

EDIT: UPDATE: after trying over and over, looks like the update readiness tool finally installed! I didn't change anything... really strange.

I'm not a Windows user myself although generally familiar with Windows. A friend asked if I could fix his laptop which runs Vista as it had become infected with "MS Removal Tool" malware.

I followed the instructions on this site for its removal to the letter and everything appeared to go according to plan. Then, having deleted the old HOSTS file and replaced it with a new one I attempted to reboot. At this point Vista ran a number of updates (13 in total) which I allowed to complete.

The reboot went OK in the sense that there was no sign of MS Removal Tool still being active but there are a lot of problems. I'm unable to launch Task Manager, the blue screen appears having hit CTL-ALT-DEL but on selecting Task Manager there is some disk activity but nothing else happens and no Task Manager appears. Clicking on Control Panel from the Start Menu also does nothing. So does right mouse clicking on My Computer. Attempting to go back to a Restore Point doesn't work either. Trying to run most of the installed programs does nothing although I am able to run Internet Explorer and connect to the internet. Trying to run gpedit.msc also does nothing except a Search results window appears. Interestingly, if I click the Control Panel icon found under Folders on the search results screen the Control Panel icons appear. However, clicking on the individual CP icons appears to do nothing.

I also tried activating the hidden Admin login but that seems to suffer from ... Read more

A:Major problems following Vista updates/MS Removal Tool

Just to add that I've just booted into Safe Mode and the various problems don't seem to occur there. Not sure what the significance of that would be. Am trying to run an online Housecall scan.
