Lenovo t61 Loose hinges

Q: Lenovo t61 Loose hinges

Hey all, I have loose hinges and want to replace them on my t61. I red the instructions on that link: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T61-and-prior-T-series/How-to-replace-loose-broken-hinges-on-t... Just to make sure - In order to take off the lcd front bezel - it's only 5 screws and just pull it up gently all around? Is that glued or latches? No need to get the back cover of the lcd too? Cause on HMM it seems I have to take back cover too. Thanks in advance

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:T400, Loose Hinges?

Hi,

The Hardware Maintenance Manual should help with that.  The instructions on removing the LCD show how to access the hinge screws, I think.

Don't let this go too long.  Once the hinge mounts get loose, something else can break.

Hi, I have a HP pavilion zx5060 with a really floppy display. Does anybody know how tough it is to tighten/replace the hinges? Info appreciated!

A:How to fix loose display hinges

Replace them. Here's a page with the manuals to aid in disassembly.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...n&lang=en&cc=us&jumpid=hpr_R1002_USEN&y=4&x=6

Near the bottom of the page is the complete maintenance manual. The instructions are pretty complete for most anything you need to do to the machine. You can also buy the parts from HP.

A:T420s - loose hinges

Im my opinion the best thing to do is to replace them, you can find them for cheap in eBay or Amazon. Replacement is not very difficult if you follow the HMM ;-)

I have read some threads were users were applying some superglue to particular areas, but it's tricky since I remember you had to avod glueing tiny screws so I personally would rather avoid doing this.

Can hp send me some screws? My product is out of warranty

A:The screws on my laptop fell out and the hinges are loose as...

We need your exact model number. Screw kits are available on eBay for maybe $6-10. However, screws don't just fall out. They get stripped because something else is going on, likely hinge issues. The hinges freeze up and cause stress on the screws so that they get stripped out of the holes which means if you try to put a new screw in the same hole it will fall out, too.

I am using a Gateway 600 Series Laptop(600YGR). I have had this laptop for about 2-3 years. The hinges connecting the lid/screen and the bottom half started to become loose a few months ago and have become progressively worse. Now I pretty much have to had the screen at an upright 90 degree angle in order for it to stay put. If I push it back or forward even a little bit it falls all the way back or all the way forward, respectively. How do I got about fixing this? Can I fix what's there or do I have to replace something? Is the solution for this problem specific to each model/make of laptop or is there a universal solution? Any help is appreciated.

The hinges now have no control whatsoever and opening the laptop causes it to bend the enclosure upwards as well as cracking the plastic base. As it seems to be an existing hardware fault for the model, am hoping for some assistance in having my warranty cover a repair.

I recently bought a HP spectre x360 15'' touch screen laptop from best buy. Within 2 months of my usage , while opening the laptop last week, the screen got cracked from the centre . This was totally unexpected. Just by opening the laptop , the screen has a crack in it. I have found several people with the same issue. Also , the hinges of the laptop are way too loose. The screen looks a bit slant . I have found this issue common with alot of people. This is not the problem. I have been to bestbuy , given my laptop for repair. They are charging me $514 for it. This is extremely expensive , given that the laptop cost is around 1000$. The screen repair costs me $514 which is way out of my budget. I dont think this is done and fair. I am ready to spend a bit of money for repairing it even while considering the poor design of this laptop which i realize now , after using it for a while. I cant spend half the laptops cost on only my screens repair. Please look into the matter and give some positive feedback. This has been dragged way too much and its urgent as per my situation.

The screen panel hinges on a Dell Latitude C610 I have are EXTREMELY loose. Everything else about the system is perfectly fine, it was my main computer for about ten months. But if the screen is not propped against a wall or something, it will fall open or fall shut every single time. Balance the screen in a perfectly vertical position, sure, but if someone walks by or closes a door it will fall open or fall shut. Really annoying. People have actually told me to use duct tape or super glue. Is there an easy, step-by-step guide to (ideally) fixing, or (if not) replacing these hinges? Thanks in advance

Hello,I have an HP m6 that suffered from constant hinges breaking, despite getting them replaced, they break in 1 year max. Normal usage and no going outdoors I swear.I then got yesterday a Dell 5558 that im returning due to its touchpad and screen's washed colors. Now I'm here, about to get a G50-80 or a Z51, so my question is related to the G50-80 here: 1- What are the known issues? Everythin got issues, i'd rather know them before buying than after. 2- Hinges... anyone experienced or heard about problems related to them breaking and so on?  Thank you

A:Lenovo G50-80 Hinges and Known Issues?

hi,I have purchased Lenovo Laptop G50-80 on Nov 1st last year. I did face the issue. First the hinges become  tight.Even for Normal usage, the two bottom screws peeled off.  The bottom case is being pulled apart near the hinges. When I approached the Lenovo  service center , they said the whole case is to be replaced. They charge me USD 80. They said it will not be covered under warranty. In my view, they have made plastic support , instead of metal. Any justice ?

Service executive reported that the hinge has a problem and need to get it fixed before getting worse. After fixing the new keyboard the hinge issue became more annoying as the left hinge thread completely released and now when I re-visited the store and inquired for a fix they informed that hinge repair will not cover under warranty and forwarded a quotation for 10000 rs approx to replace the lower and upper case completely. Its hardly 2 years that I used my laptop and ran into multiple issues, before replacing the keyboard the threads are available and has a minor issue but after fixing it, threads got completely released and started making sounds, the same has been reported but there is no proper response from the executives.

Seems there are some design issues and manufacturing defect with the way Lenovo Egde 2-in 1 touch screen works. The right hinge somehow has come loose and then it forces the screens to separate. When you close the laptop it seems to aggravate the situation.  I have certainly not dropped it and mishandled it. Searching on the internet it seems to a very common issue. Wondering how should I go about getting this fixed. Does anybody have some fix and something? is there a recall? Its a fairly new laptop with good specs. See attached pictures.everything still worksClosing it seems to split the screenskeep the laptop open at all time to prevent it from falling apart. The laptop screen is seperating due to hinge issue.

Hey there, Both hinges of my Ideapad 300-14ISK are now broken after 6 months of light use. The right one started to freeze after less than 2 months from the purchase date. It has resulted in breaking the LCD cover as a result as I opened or closed the lid. About a month later, the left hinge did the same. I can't open or close the lid at all now. I am now looking for a replacement for those hinges since I gave up on trying to resolve this with the support team although it is still in the warranty (however I bought it from outside the US. They're claiming that's why they can't help me). The Lenovo website has 2 parts for the hinges for this model but I can't understand the difference between them. First one is "5H50K14044 - HINGE L+R LIMR L300-14IBR" while the second one is "5H50K14032 - HINGE L+R L300-14IBR". I can't figure out the difference between both parts. The only difference in the name is the "LIMR" word in the description of the first one. Does anyone understand what the difference between both parts is? Thanks!

The other day I was closing my ThinkPad Yoga, and I noticed a bad-sounding crunch. I tried opening and closing it again, but there didn't seem to be a problem. But I noticed today that something definitely has happened. Now, my hinges are out of alignment with one another. The right hinge looks OK, but the left hinge looks kinked forward. This causes the screen to be lopsided when in laptop mode, but it it also noticeable when the laptop and screen is flattened out. See in the the following image how the right hinge is flat, but the left hinge is kinked up?  Is there anything that can be done about this?

Today I was in my kitchen and could hear loud hissing sounds coming from the room where my z-50 was sitting, it was on and plugged into the charger. Well I look in and there were sparks coming from the laptop. As soon as it stopped I immediately disconnected the charger. The laptop was still on and still worked. I turned it off and and checked out the outside/ports/ect. I noticed a rattle I had never heard before. I then opened the case and a screw dropped out. It was a screw to the hard drive. Is it possible the screw got into something else and caused the sparks? I read about a recall on chargers but I don't think mine applies to that. I'm also 2 days out of warranty. Has this happened to anyone else?

Lenovo is telling me they won't come to my home to fix my 2014 Y50, even though I purchased in-home service/accidental damage protection.  They're saying the technician wouldn't know what parts to bring, so I have to mail the computer to them.  This is not the service I paid for.  Has anyone else had problems with Lenovo like this? The issue is that the bottom plate of the laptop is able to separate slightly from the rest of the computer, creating a small gap (just 2-3 mm) between the bottom plate and the left side where the charger & ethernet cables plug in.   Because of the gap, the cables won't stay plugged in all the time.  It's been getting worse for awhile.  You can push the plate up with your hand to close the gap, but that's not a solution.

i've had a used (eb*y) simpletech 320gb external hard drive since jan and been using it with a replacement mini b w/ dual usb male cord (also eb*y) ...i think it's worked okay (maybe there have been some subtle abnormal noises, i don't know - the other day, before anything "happened", i think i heard a sound like it kept spinning up, winding down, spinning up ...very faint and, brief)
...well, now something is definitely wrong because - i *think* the usb cable had stayed in fairly okay but now, either i've damaged the drive by keeping it plugged in for too long periods, or by accidentally pulling the cord out because... now the drive keeps disconnecting itself and will no longer be detected by my computer if the cord is disturbed at all--now so bad, i can't have it on my laptop on my lap or just ~breathing~ will cause it to disconnect. (and, thinking the cord was just loose, i tried to push it in and, THAT caused it to disconnect another time...)
i've tried to look for info about this problem before asking of you but in my situation it's the, keeping it plugged in for too long periods or accidentally disconnecting the cord, or pushing it in that time that makes me worried i've physically damaged the drive...
do you think i should try just duct taping the cord in place (but not TOO firmly) and/or a replacement cord .........or do you think i've caused something to come loose and may have really damaged the drive?

Hello everyone! I'd like to tell about an issue with a laptop and seek your advice on the problem I have. I will start from the beginning in order to present the whole situation. In 2015, on the 16th of August, I purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad Y7070 laptop from Russian vendor. I also live in Russia (St. Petesburg), so I tried to get support there. After a little while, a registered at Lenovo Support site and found out that my laptop is covered by warranty that ends on 2017-03-18. I though that was good to know and went on to using a laptop. Everything was good and fine until one day in November, 2016 I opened a lid of a laptop and it went with a loud cracking sound ? the hinges were torn out of the body of a laptop and it seemed like plastic that held the whole thing together was broken. There were no prior issues with a device, so I wrote an e-mail to the vendor I bought it at, described the issue and they replied that that is not of their concern what Lenovo Support site says and that their warranty was only 1 year and it ended on 2016-08-17. Okay, I thought, and went to Lenovo Support site again to find service providers in St. Petersburg. I found one and took a laptop there. Indeed, they said that I have to pay for repairs and they have to change both screen and bottom covers in order to fix the problem. And as they have no parts in stock, I have to wait from 1 month to indefinite time for the parts to arrive. I brought the laptop the... Read more

Have you tried using parts lookup?  Choose "Mechanical Assemblies" on the left under commodity type.  Dont post your serial number here but if you put it in parts lookup you will find parts for your laptop.  I just looked up Generic u530.

https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-u-series-laptops/ideapad-u5...

With that part number you can get at Lenovo Encompass store.  Please verify part numbers before buying.

The above are for the hinge.  For the hinge cover  choose "LCD parts" on the left side under commodity type.  Below is hinge cover.

I recently purchased an x230 and everything is perfect but the battery fit.  It moves up and down slightly.  I know there are many posts in the lenovo forums for all different models that the battery fits lose in "x" model and solutions of putting paper / foam / tape to make the battery fit tighter.   What I'm wondering is if anyone has actually had the problem fixed by lenovo.  I've read a few posts where a user has had the base piece of the case replaced (where the battery fit's into) and that has solved the problem.  I'm still within my return period on my x230 and am awaiting a call back from tech support to see if there is anything they will do but I don't think I will keep it if they can't fix it.   I'm just curious has anyone actually had luck by replacing the base piece.  From what i've read a replacement battery hasn't worked for anyone.  Also, I know everyone says its by design for thermal purposes but I haven't actually seen any official confirmation of this from lenovo.   Thanks.

A:Battery Loose / Battery wiggle in x230 and LENOVO ...

As a follow up, I'm just curious if this is a widespread issue?  Anyone have loose battery in their x230 / x220?  I'm not talking about it falling out...but just a few millimeters of wiggle room.  Basically when i pick mine up or place it down, I can feel / hear the battery move.  I'm just trying to get an idea if this is a real problem or thats just how every thinkpad is.  I called support and they are sending someone to replace the base panel and we'll see if that fixes it.  I'll update this post when it get's replaced.   Edit* I also asked the lenovo support rep if they had heard of this issue and they said no, never.  I don't see how this is possible as if you do a google search for thinkpad loose battery there are many results.
