I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Set power saving mode to "Maximum Performance" allows you to connect your device to router from a longer distance.

I have been relatively happy with my Yoga 900, but I have run into an odd situation and would appreciate any help.Specifically, my device functions well with my home router, but if I move to an area of the house where the WiFi signal is weak, and I get disconnected from the router, I seem to be unable to re-connect to the router when I then move back to an area of the house with a strong signal.I tried turning off the WiFi and turning it back on, but it still will not connect. It seems the only way I can get back online is to reboot. Is there a solution to this? For what it's worth, I do have the default 18.12.2.3 driver installed (Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 8260), and saw a post somewhere suggesting going to the Intel site for their driver.I am not someone who enjoys tweaking settings, so hopefully there is a simple step I am missing. Thanks so much to anyone who has time and willingness to offer a suggestion.

A:Yoga 900: WiFi cannot re-connect to home router

Hmm, my unit doesn't have that issue. Try reinstalling the Intel wireless driver: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Yoga-Series/yoga-900-13isk/downloads/D...

I sent my laptop to Squretrade to be fixed, it kept shutting off and the keys were sticking. They replaced the keyboard and battery. Now, I cannot connect to my WiFi unless I am in the same room as my router. I have other devices, laptops, tablets, phones, in the home that have no problem and still show other WiFi conenctions in my neighborhood. I had no problem with connecting before I sent it to them.

Hi so my router is downstairs and my room is upstairs. I tried connected multiple devices to the wifi from my room but none of them will connect so the issue definitely isn't my device. if I step outside of my room, everything seems to connect and run perfectly. My laptop and phone can detect the wifi network it just isn't able to connect, does anyone have any idea why this is the case and now can I solve this issue?

A:Cannot connect to wifi in one specific room?!?!

Maybe the signal in your room is too weak. Weak signal could be caused by an obstruction or unfortunate orientation of the router's antenna(s).

Or maybe there is wireless interference in your room (e.g., from a neighbor's network that comes easily through a window into your room but is obstructed in other parts of the house).

If you have a computer running Windows ...

My setup is that we have a main family computer, which is connected to our broadband via an ethernet cable, and this has a router attached which shoots out our wifi to our 4 iPhones, my MacBook Pro, my PC (which receives the WiFi through an antenna thing) and my brother's laptop.

The internet on our main PC is fine, on my PC it can connect, but sometimes has trouble finding the network and may need a jigging around of the antenna. My brother's laptop has similar problems but is basically OK. They are positioned in various parts of the house.

I bought a MacBook Pro for school work the other day, and tried connecting to the network. The MBP would find the network easy, and it would have a 4 bar signal strength. However, when attempting to connect I am greeted with a "Connection timeout" error. I can only connect when I am sitting literally right next to the router next to my main family PC. I can confirm that the MBP can receive WiFi connections well, as I tried it in the Apple Store, but it seems to not want to connect to my wireless network unless next to the router (if I attempt to move out of the room the router is in, the WiFi will drop as soon as I go into my room, the room where my PC picks up the WiFi signal basically fine, but with a few minor niggles).

So to reiterate, my phones, laptops and PCs all pick up the signal fine. The signal works basically fine for my PC/brother's laptop, but my MBP just won't pick it up, unless in close pro... Read more

I got Fios installed this week. Router is the Actiontec MI424, it sits in the living room. I'm in a 2 br condo, not a huge place maybe like 1200 Sq feet, same floor. Wifi is awesome in the living room, but in the bedroom it hangs. I still have a signal, varying from low to good, but it takes forever to open a web page, to the point where you can't use the internet. Bedroom is just down the hall.

I called Verizon. They told me they can only guarantee the wifi signal 10 feet from the router, after that no promises. My frustration is that with my previous provider, which was giving me a slower internet connection, my wifi in the bedroom was fine and the router was in the exact same spot. Of course I used my own router, so the issue has to be their router right?

What are my options? My router is currently in a media cabinet and I really don't want to run any additional cable away from the cabinet (like to a switch down the hall). I know there are instructions on connecting my old router to the fios one and using my old router for wifi, and I think that should be my first effort, but not sure. My question with that is, will this help? Will I be getting the faster internet I'm paying Verizon for if I use my old router as a switch instead of their router? I've got limited networking experience but can follow directions and google...so any assistance on what my options are and how to get a working wifi connection in my bedroom would be very appreciated!

My laptop only connects wirelessly if it's in the same room (actually, at the same desk) as the router. I just installed a new router and that did not solve the problem. I took the laptop to a pc repair shop and it connected wirelessly there withouto a problem; I also took it to Best Buy and was able to connect wirelessly there as well). So, problem solvers figured it was the router (which was quite old). I've now replaced the router but still can't connect wirelessly unless I'm in the same room as the router!

I have an Inspiron 1525 running Windows Vista. I can't figure out why my wireless internet will only connect when I am in the same room as the equipment. Whenever I go to the back of the house, it shows no signal. No other laptop has this problem in the house and my computer did this in my last house too. I have no idea what the problem is and I am not very good with computers. Please help! Thanks!

A:Computer will only connect to internet in the same room as the modem/router

Well, since it seems to be a serious range issue with the one computer, my top suspect would be an antenna issue. Open the access door on the bottom of the laptop (remove the battery first), and check the two antenna connections to the wireless card. Make sure they're firmly connected.

After that, please do this when you're in the problem location. It would be really useful if you could the same test with one of the laptops that doesn't have the issue from the same exact location.
Download and run this Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, click the Networks link on the upper left and paste a screen shot of that screen here. Note that this application requires NET Framework to run. If you get an error about a missing function, download and install NET Framework. For machines with no Internet connection, download this NET Framework 3.5 Full Package on another machine and transfer it with removable media to the problem machine.

Hi,My brand new Yoga 720-15 IKB doesn't connect to my workplace wifi network which is a Mikrotik network. It does though connect to my home network or a mobile hotspot and works fine with them. I have installed all Windows 10 updates and Lenovo Companion updates. I have manually updated wifi card driver, I have also tried deleting network card and installing it again - but no success. Still doesn't connect to this one particular network in my workplace. To make it stranger my coworker has the same brand new Yoga 720, the only difference is that mine Yoga is grey and his is platinium color. We discovered also that two, supposedly the same computers  have different network cards (he has Intel, I have Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A. This is a bit weird).I have also found out his Yoga connects easily to VPN at our workplace, my doesn't.Any ideas how to solve it? EDIT: my current network card driver is 12.0.0.295

However, i can connect to it through wired connection. Others in my apartment can connect to the router. They dont have windows 7 (they use vista, ubuntu). Its working fine for them. I have tried many things like updating the router, disabling firewall, changing wireless security settings, updating windows but none of them seem to work. My friend who has the same laptop also cant connect when I cant. It happens simultaneously. As soon as my connection is disconnected, his also disconnects. Please let me know what the problem is.

Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector
Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

Direct link to the program is here http://wpc.475a.edgecastcdn.net/00475A/XirrusWiFiInspectorSetup.1.2.0.exe

Then run and install the program - on a wireless enabled PC/Laptop
if you get an error - You need NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.

Run the program

I have an HP Mini 2140 laptop with Windows XP pro and It will no longer connect to my wireless router. It started with McAfee Security Center warning me that my computer was not protected. When I clicked fix nothing happened except that after my Wifi connection will not stay connected. I scanned the system and found nothing. I downloaded Malware Bytes and two other spyware products and Malware Bytes found anything and removed something called Perfessional Malware. Next I uninstalled McAfee which did not solve the problem. Next I repaired the IPStack then ran Winsocketfix routine. Then I reloaded all device drivers from the manufacture CD and still no internet. Then I downloaded and ran Combefix. I also encountered this forum and followed instructions to created an attach.txt, DDS.txt file and GMER.log. I am ready to upload those files when appropriate. The last thing I tried was to hard code the IP address etc in the wireless connection. That has allowed me to connect to a nearby unsecured connection, but to weak to see the internet. I still cannot connect to my wireless router. I forgot to mention I have a 2 Wire modem/router. Thanks in advance for your help.

I googled for solution and I did uninstall EMC and Lenovo Utility but that did not resolved the problem. Then I had tried to uninstall all drivers and than download and install them again but still the problem is there. Wherever Yoga connects WiFi dies. I found that some routers recognize something like DDos attack and so I dissabled that option on routers but again problem is there. Actually they are breaking the ISP agreement in most countries.
The agreement will state that the broadband can only be used in one premises , this is so that people cannot provide neighbours with wifi ....

so as this is also against our rules - closing post

Ok guys, I have a home office, work for a large corporation but home based. I have my own broadband and seperate router for gaming, surfing etc.
I also have a dedicated works laptop, which also has a dedicated WIFI router for purely work stuff.

Previously, I made it impossible for my "work" router to connect to my "home" laptop, for obvious reasons.
However, a couple of weeks ago, I needed to do some trouble shooting, and allowed the home lap top to access my work network.
I switched it back, but forgot to inhibit the 2 from linking.

So today, I'm looking at some ahem.. porn, didn't think much about it. A few hours later, I realise I'm connected to the "work" network.

So,

1)Is there a way to check in Windows 7 what router i was connected to at various times through WIFI?
2)Is it likely the ISP would advise my employer that I have looked at porn? - i didn't go through the work VPN, it's just a standard line from Zen into my house, by my company pay the bill direct.

appreciate any help!

I can connect to the wifi router's gate to config stuff, like password, wifi's name... but I just can not connect to IPS to online. Other devices can see the wifi network but when connect to it, I just can go to it's gateway.

What should I do now ?

Everything's hooked up fine, and it was working perfectly before, but now my devices such as my laptop and Droid Pro can SEE the router (As in connect to it and say that they are getting excellent signal strength), but when I try to open my browser, it asks as if I'm not connected to anything at all. When I tap network services, all I see is the airplane mode button. I don't see any wifi options. I updated my intel wrieless drivers to the most recent setting, and I'm on the newest bios. Any ideas would be helpful! Thanks.

This morning I tried connecting to wifi, but it wouldn't connect, saying that there was "no internet connection", it was working fine yesterday evening. I restarted the modem/router and verified that it was working with 2 other devices. I've tried disabling & re-enabling the wifi adapter, double checked that the wifi button was toggled on, ipconfig release & renew, and a few other things, but nothing has fixed the problem.

At this point if I restart my computer, I can connect to my router for a brief period (< 1 minute) before the connection terminates and won't connect again. The wifi tray icon has a yellow circle on it and I can see the available networks, but I can't connect to them. If I try the windows troubleshooter it will say either to check the router &/or that the LAN is disabled. Running ipconfig -all shows that the media state is disconnected even though it looks to be on/enabled through device manager, the control panel network adapter page, and the keyboard wifi button is on.

How can I figure out where the problem is? It isn't the router since it works with other devices, but it doesn't entirely seem to be the network card either since it can still see the available networks, but just can't connect to them. Does anyone have any idea of what to do?

Hi all I am sooo not sure where to post this for help. I just got internet and I am using a Netgear router Wireless-G WGR614 but it will not allow me to connect to my Kindle. I know there is a way to configure the router to work with the Kindle 4th generation do any of you know how to fix this issue?

I checked everything to make sure airplane mode was off and tried other techniques and it still does not work. So I know it is the router.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

A:Kindle 4th Gen it wont connect to router wifi

Is that router a dual band router? If so you may have turned the 2.4GHz band off and that may be the only one the Kindle supports. Also check the Security on it. Be it WAP, WPA-psk (Tkip) or WPA2 (Aes)

Hi,
I have a Dell XPS 13" for the last year and a half.
I changed the password for my router after which my Dell XPS is not able to connect to the internet. The laptop does connect to the router (status states - Secured, Connected) however it does not connect to the internet.
I can connect to the internet via the same router on multiple devices (ipad, iphone, android phone, macs and another Lenovo Windows machine)
I am bamboozled as to why this Dell XPS is not able to connect.
Checking the properties of the device (via the Device Manager) says the Device is working properly. The network adapter is a Dell Wireless 1820A.802.11ac.
I tried to uninstall and re-install the driver and still don't see a difference.
Appreciate any assistance.
The Dell website (for Drivers and downloads is also friendly). I can't easily check what the latest driver is.
Searching for wireless for my Dell XPS
returns only one result  and the installation of that is not successful either.

When you stated you changed the password on the Router, I thought you meant the one for the Admin of the Router.  I suppose you mean the WPA2 security password for the network..
I assume you have looked at the available networks and picked the one you use and check it properties for Public/Private and security settings?
If the wireless icon is showing a yellow triangle it may be related to DNS.  You might check the IP Settings on the above reference page to make sure you have correct IP addresses listed.

A:Connected to wifi router, can't connect to internet

According to this you should have a connection so something may be blocking the connection like an Anti Virus software.

Does it show up as connected but the browsers won't go anywhere? If so I have something for that.

Hi there

At home we have 2 routers, our flat is big so in ourder to get better signals I use second wifi router connected directly to 1. So we can use No1 but not able to use second router. Problems is No 2 router shows that it has network from N1 but doesnt send SSID. So all laptops in flat can't detect second Wif router. I disconnected both, waited for 1 min, plugged everythin then connected but same no SSDI is sent by router 2, what could be a problem?

Hi koshak1981, and welcome to TSG.

Have you confirmed that WiFi is enabled on the second router and on a different channel that the first router and different channel from any channel that may be used by nearby neighbors with routers?

Hi,
I set up a wireless bridge with my TP-Link TL-WR1043ND to get better signal in my flat. (landlord provides internet via wifi AP but I have bad reception, therefore the wireless bridge) I works flawlessly. I can connect my android phone and my PC to it. Recently I tried to connect with a HP Stream 11 (Realtek RTL8723BE) to my TP-Link and it refuses to connect. Password is correct. If I connect to landlords AP directly it works and I am able to ping my TP-Link but I cannot access its web interface either. The HP Stream 11 uses Win 8.1 but this shouldnt matter afaik since my TP-Link acts as an AP.
I have no idea what could be going wrong. Any ideas???

Cheers,
Chris
